Auntiebk they checked for pollution by the types of invertebrates the kids find. Certain ones can’t live in pollution at all. There were three levels for the kids to identify 1-3 with 1 being very good. Ours fell in 1-2 because the water is salty.

Well my interview got postponed until Monday as the interviewer was sick. I now have more time to think and prepare.

Glad my DH is sitting in the same room as me tonight, watching VERA.
If he wasn't there I would be clearing the house of anything edible.
Why, why, why?
Glad I have a policeman on the premises.

NO water in basement!!!!Yeah!!! I did order an extra long extension for our downspout in the back. . I would not have had to do so much water removal if we had a longer extension. Now it is dodge the pot hole season.
I went to painting class today we painted on canvas bags. Something different. Instructor did paint bags with white paint ahead of time so they didn't use quite as much paint. Nice to get out. I have stayed home for the past few days to do what I could so our basement didn't flood. One person at the painting class said her son was helping a neighbor where she got water coming in her front door. Awful.
Hardware stores have had a good year. Roof rakes, snow blowers, now sump pumps.

Its funny we never seem to find the length. I have a pair of dress pants from Macy's that are a "short" and I think they're almost two inches too long. I'm 5'2". Both of my girls are 5'8" and complain continuously on the shortness of pants/jeans. Go figure.

Michele - it's so funny when the cats react to other cats outside. But they feel someone is invading their territory, so I don't blame them!
Barbara - I'm sure there are all types of laser procedures. I'm sorry Joe's was uncomfortable. The main discomfort was the lens they put against the eyeball during the procedure but I didn't feel any heat or anything. Did they give him anti-inflammatory drops? I have to take those for 5 days and I see him on the 7th day. I think the doctor said that my procedure doesn't work in about 20% of cases; so we'll see. The Lumigan drops are causing a lot of eye dryness so I now have to take lubricating drops, too. Hope Joe finds the right procedures/drops.
Well, I have to say I am really seeing a difference in my body from exercise. Exercises/videos that got me winded in the beginning are not as difficult and I can do more reps for certain exercises. I'm also doing a lot better during everyday stuff like bending over and picking up stuff, or going up and down the stairs. My core feels a lot stronger and although it may sound silly, I can more easily move positions in bed (I am always moving side to side to stomach to back!!). I also think my posture has improved. My mood is much better, too. It's a miracle how the body can go from completely sedentary (and often in pain) to more fit and less pain in such a short time (since January). My body doesn't feel nearly as much of a prison. And that's the whole purpose of all of this - to be liberated and have some quality of life.
Love reading about your lives!! Gives me inspiration to keep working so I can get out there and join you!

Lisa: I love that your son is choosing community college first. I teach in a community college, and it's one of the most rewarding jobs I've had. Studies have shown that students who start in community college perform better in university than students who start at a 4 year university.
NZ: How horrific! I'm so tired of the hate and the violence. All this does is create more animosity.
Have to admit...I ate chocolate today! I was a bit stressed, and I couldn't resist.

Here are the boys the first day they got here, hiding in the litter box:
and here they are about a week later, happy and wanting pets:
They only come out and want pets at night, mostly (which is why it was difficult to get a picture of them - the ones at night just don't turn out and the flash scares them). During the day they sleep in the hidey-box I made them. I think this is because of the schedule at the shelter - people are only there during the day and they felt safer at night with no humans around.
They are really funny because they are not used to be around people doing normal things. Sometimes I will go in and read in the room with them and they walk up and look at me and sniff me, and walk all around me like they are trying to figure out what to do. I also had to do some stretches for my hip, so I took the yoga mat in there and did them and they did the same thing. I'm totally in love. Oh, and we named them Cardigan and Trolley (in remembrance of Mr. Rogers - and because one of them looks like he's wearing a cardigan when he stands up).

Shannon - it may be hard to believe, but I was just like you nearly 7 years ago when I started my 'diet' as I called it then. Even turning over in bed was a major, painful effort. If I got up in the night I had to drag myself along holding onto the furniture and door handles. My left leg was so weak I had to haul it into the passenger seat with both hands. Gradually, gradually I have been able to add a little at a time to restore my mobility. When I first got my body off the ground to do a plank I exploded with joy. My ankles and hands were totally seized up. By doing a little more every day I have amazed myself at what I can now do. My DH thought I was heading for a miserable, immobile old age. Now he marvels at my energy and fitness. It can be done.
Good for you for slowly, but surely transforming yourself. A healthy old age is so much better than the alternative. We just need to keep at it. And at it. And at it.
Tonight I almost fell off the wagon. I suppose those days are inevitable now and again. Lesson learned. I had a lot of leeway with extra calories burned, but I would prefer not to push the boundaries so far.
Tomorrow is another day.
In fact, tomorrow is Bea's birthday party! I still have to wrap her presents. I told DDIL I will not be running the Parkrun along the seafront. Too windy. I'm looking forward to seeing her parents at the party who live quite near to where we used to live. DH said today we could get a takeaway delivery in the evening! Tandoori here we come!

Soooooo this is what happened.. I was going to see Fleetwood Mac ,but found out the friend with the extra ticket ,his wife in critical care in the hospital.
Now in all good contence I just didnt feel right going even though they were floor seats about 5 rows from the stage.
His wife is a patient at our office ,and she was thrilled that I would go.. but I just couldnt bear to do that.. so went to the movie theater here at the condo and watched crazy rich asians...which was cute..
Things a bit dicey at work.. the new guy and Mary are butting heads so I had to sit up front with him in the afternoon...
Very hard to talk on the phone or concentrate as he is loud and boisterous..he doesn't really have manners but knows how get insurances and stuff through..we shall see how it goes but tomorrow will be my last Saturday working I will be working Monday, Wednesday Friday..vets office hired 2 part timers so I'm out there...we shall see I'm taking everything a day at a time..4 -

Hi Gals,
Megamom ((((((hugs)))) that is a total drag!
Machka - I smiled and your pant length issues as I too have issues but, just the opposite, I can get the longer style capris and sometimes they are just the right length other times I still have to shorten them.
Katla – that is excellent information on Costco – my mom, does tend to jump to answers without doing the research. I’ll do some checking myself.
Flooding/ice and other horrid weather – take care one and all! Thinking of you.
My heart broke for everyone affected directly or indirectly by the events in Christchurch
So ladies this is maybe not helpful, but it is my experience, job hunting in today’s world – it is different then it was in the past, yes full time jobs with benefits do exist; with companies that value you. BUT many more part time “easy come easy go” jobs exist. Finding the job full or part time that is really a fit with some since of security is best found via a referral. “networking” gosh I hate that term, I do it, but have learned to think of it differently, and to execute it differently. To me “networking” as it is often described seems a lot like using people for my good; just not who I am. So I try to do it in a win win set up, more like I have something to share. The following is a totally pretend scenario
In an email to everyone I can dream up
So I have great skills in organizing closets and I would like to find a place where I could use my skills, would anyone like their closets organized for a great price as I build a list of happy clients, and does anyone have anyone to refer me to? I would really like to work with a company that sells closet organizing gear.
When I first lost my corporate job I was so lost I sent out an email to my friends that basically said, I have been laid off and have had little success in this tight job market, you know my skills and I am willing to work in anything legal that you think would be a fit. I will do everything from odd jobs to applying for jobs you might have heard of. I got tons of help, and actually that’s what got me into owning my own business. It was a risk and not super comfortable but worked out great, and I can say I have been able to pay it forward, and help others find potential opportunities.

I went to Dressbarn online to look again in the pants department. If you search for talls, you can view the size chart and the inseam is listed as 28”. That may be too short for you. I’m now 5’8” (I shrunk) and slacks and jeans fit nice and long.
I hope that helps more.
Good evening!
