First round of company has left. It was wonderul to have such upstanding (dare I say nerdy) young 20 yo folks stay with us They were all from west coast and loved the crazy energy of nyc. Cooked breakfast this a.m. and had wonderful conversations with them. DH and I are introverts and are drained from the experience but dont regret a minute of it—there’s a lesson for us. We need to step out of comfort zone once in a while.
Tomorrow my DYS and DYN stay over on their way to college tours. I won’t have time to visit much as I have concerts both nights.
Right now the house is blessedly quiet and empty, I have already exercised and will do some laundry. A nap is surely on my to do list today!! Feeling blessed.

Trying to get back on track for the umpteenth time. My goal for the first two weeks of the month was a simple one. It was to start back taking my lunch with me instead of eating out everyday. Now that I seem to be back on track with that, this coming week, I plan to step it up with menu planning, etc., plus get back to exercising.8

Morning everyone. I am getting ready for the gym and going to try some different things. My hips have been bothering me and I think it is from the treadmill. I think I am doing more harm then good so am looking for a different cardio. I am thinking of rejoining my other gym which had a pool as it is easier on my joints, but the chlorine kills me. Just can't win. I wish the weather would warm up so I could just pop on my bicycle and go for a long ride. NSV this week. Put on some old knee socks and they went all the way and stayed there, and I officially have lost 81 pounds from when I started oh so long ago, so it's all good. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Kelly, I just finished reading "Outer Order, Inner Calm" that addresses exactly what you're saying about clutter.
mavisjones, starting with a single change is a great idea. Best wishes on your continued success.
Heather, Good to hear that you are feeling better.
Karen, having company is hard for me, too, even when they are great people.
I rarely cook anything but my usual stuff, but yesterday I made a fabulous sauce for chicken from peanut butter, coconut milk, lime juice, and several spices and it was so good I had to resist the impulse to sit down and eat the sauce like a bowl of ice cream.
It's colder this morning but no raining so I plan to do a bit in the yard before the rain returns. Now I'm off to walk the dogs again with my friend who is great fun to talk to.

Mavis: You seem to be making good choices and getting back on track. WTG!!! :flowerforyou:
Megamom: When I go to the gym part of my routine is the stationary bikes. The ones I use have a chair style seat and ae easy to use. It is an excellent way to burn calories and get the heart beating. I also take a yoga class. I do this two or three times a week. Lately it has been 2 times due to other obligations.
DH seems to be doing much better since his colonoscopy. He is eating things that are good for him and has a strategy to deal with digestive problems that seems to be working well. YAY!!!.

Margaret - I’m glad you got out to the Art in Bloom, thank you for sharing the pictures. It looked beautiful.
Heather - Lisa is tight the grandchildren carry every bug going. I found this year though, this is Jonah’s third year in school, Rodger and I must have built our immunity up some as we haven’t caught anything except the one I brought home from somewhere.
Karen in VA and Allie - I think it’s great when exes can get along and not hate and fight for the rest of their lives. My daughters friend’s parents divorced when he was not quite 2, they used to take a camping trip with all of them and new spouses together every summer so Mat could share experiences with both parents at the same time.
Kelly - what a great day Friday will be. Children love showing off their day to visitors.
I had a pretty relaxing day yesterday visiting with a friend but since our day included children we did get some activity in as well.
I worked in the craft room for an hour or so last night and am heading there shortly to finish it up. It is supposed to rain today, but I’m hoping it holds off and I can get a walk in later.
Rori - I tried your gum trick last night and was successful in avoiding snacking. I think I need to find something to do with my hands as well.

Working on trying to find the right resources to advocate for son and press on with A Civil Law Suit for violation of his Civil Rights. I did find out I can do this in his behalf. He will not be well enough for a long time if ever to purse this.I still not saying I will just gathering what I need.2

Now sneezing to beat the band! Guess that's the answer to my feeling rubbish yesterday. As my York friend also has it I guess we caught it from a mutual source up there.
Had delicious Chinese fish bake. Yum!
Trying to organise a get together with my Portsmouth /York friend over Easter. My son is being a bit useless over date for the steam train outing.

Hi ladies - I just wanted to share that while exercising today I had two NSVs... I can now (with a lot of help from my hands/arms to lift my leg) can put my ankle on my opposite leg ("sitting cross legged"). I can also now lift both feet off the floor while seated. YAY!

New here. Been using this app for about 10 days. Just learning my way around. I have been logging my food here.
I love to go for walks. I also do cardio on my treadmill and recumbent bike. I’m not seeing any results.
My bloodwork came back with my cholesterol and sugar levels were a little high. Also found out I have high blood pressure.
I really needed to change my diet.
I was doing this 1500 calories diet my brothers dr put him on when he found out he had diabetes. I think it was too high in carbs. I love the way this app calculates all the foods you eat.
I’m a little discouraged that my brother lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks and no changes for me. I’ve changed my diet 3 weeks ago, than changed it since I’ve been using this app. But I feel like I’m starving mostly after dinner.
I’ve noticed a lot of foods are high in salt. I’ve been searching for healthy recipes in which what I have found are high in salt and or calories. I was reading about dash diet. Supposed to lower blood pressure, sugar levels and cholesterol. So starting tomorrow I’m going to switch to the dash diet and see how that goes.
My goal is to lose 40 pounds.

Happy Sunday. Not sure what is going on as my eating yesterday and today is terrible. Seems I can't get enough. I have to get this figured out soon. Weather is warming up again so hoping I can get out and walk.

I invited my walking friend over for lunch to try my new Thai peanut sauce with chicken. We all liked it a lot.
Before lunch we watched the end of the Augusta golf championship.
Shannon, congrats on your NSV and on your focus on competing with yourself and not with others.
Melissa, one important rule in life is to never compare your weight loss journey with that of a man. One thing I did to make my calories count better for me was to focus on nutrition dense food and leave out foods with high calories and low nutrition (salad dressing, condiments, gravy, for example). It may take awhile to find the right food plan. The DASH diet is a great choice and very healthy.
Paouline, I get a lot of motivation by reading this thread every day and sometimes several times a day.

Finally gave up trying to catch up and started at the end and read five pages. Sorry I haven’t been here much lately. Still having issues with my headaches and having to take the mecidine I don’t like to take. In addition, I found a lump a few months ago and decided I needed to have it checked out. Had the mammogram and was ask to wait for the radiologist to review it. Then they did a sonogram and I waited for Dr to review it. Turned out to be a benign fatty tumor but it scared me.
Feeling very frustrated with myself and my weight loss (or lack of).
Margaret- you are in my thoughts. I hope you are able to get the help your son needs.
My eyes are getting blurry so will get off computer.
Love to all

Hi Gals,
Welcome all the newbies! Some one mentioned slow to no results, for me the biggest trick is to log everything, and to be very sure you are measuring everything – no guessing. I find even better than measuring cups is a kitchen scale and weighing everything. A measuring cup is fine for liquids but 1 cup of finely chopped nuts is a whole lot more than a 1 cup of big nut pieces so you are eating a bunch more calories than you logged – better to weigh them as 4 ounces of nuts is the same no matter how they are cut.
I spent today working in my yard and making more patches! I am getting better at these. Thank goodness as still have a bunch to go! I think the bride and I will trim threads tomorrow evening.
I struggle with goals, I often have lofty goals that I never meet. And then I choose to consider myself a looser, that is counter productive! I have had my step goal at 10,000 + a day and really fought with it last year. I decided in December to make it 11,000 this year, and my goal is not 11,000 per day, but instead an AVERAGE of 11,000 per day – this has worked much better for me, I have kept it above 11,000 average, but there have been a few days of 7-8,000 sometimes life gets in my way. This is much better for me.

Sitting in hotel room tonight. Have a conference for work the next two days. After spending the weekend with college friends, got to sit and visit with some work colleagues from different counties I hadn't seen in a while. Must be my time to catch up with people!
Staying under the calorie count. While I try to eat the exercise calories, don't always get all of them in, but I am eating balanced diet and am not hungry so I am not going to force it. Of course, the snacks they put out at the conference will be a challenge. I did pack some snacks for myself, so I think I will be ok.
Off to bed--want to get up early and use fitness facilities since tomorrow will involve a lot of sitting.4 -
Spaghetti tonight for dinner! Yummy. I downloaded an app that is a relaxation sleep app. I did it yesterday, and I was so blissfully sleepy by the end of the session, I could barely turn my tablet off! I am going to do it tonight too!

This helps me ...
When I feel like I'm just running around like a chicken with its head cut off and not accomplishing anything, I look at what I have accomplished ...One of the things I started doing in about last November or so was this:
I have a long list of things I need to do. It sits at approximately 50 items at any given time, plus sub-items.
But rather than just deleting things off my list when I do them, I move them to another section. In this way, I’ve been keeping track of what I’ve done.
Then, on days when I don’t feel like I’m accomplishing anything, I scroll through the list of things I've done and it makes me feel better. I am accomplishing things!!
But I am looking forward to a day when my To Do list drops to maybe only 20 items.

The average thing you mention works well too. In the cycling community some people start the year wanting to cycle, say, 28 kilometres a day which will give them 10,000 km for the year. And by the end of January, they're already behind, so they give up. But if they average 28 km/day, that's so much more manageable because one day you might not ride, but the next you might do 56 km ... so there's flexibility.

Lately, when I've been talking to my husband's medical staff, I've been hearing my mother's voice come out of my mouth!!!
For reference, my mother was a nurse.

Karen: I did text Meg this week because this was the weekend she was planning to come to Denver. Unfortunately, the interstate was closed due to blizzard conditions, so we did not meet up. She's dealing with some challenges, and doing her best to maintain self-care.

📙Accountability post for Sunday, April 14th
✔️1. Carbs 50g max with no more than 25g per meal. (50g)
✔️2. Fiber 25g. (37g)
✔️3. Track in MFP. Complete the entry daily.
✔️4. Exercise - log 30 Fitbit minutes (45 Active minutes).
✔5. No eating after 9pm.
✔6. In bed by midnight.
• Overall Feeling: Sunday is my day to look at my progress toward my goals and to plan for the week. So, I'm feeling reflective today. Thinking about changes I can make to have more fun.
• Exercise: Got 45 minutes being extra active with my housework movements. Purposefully moving fast and pausing to do side steps, kicks, kickbacks, arm movements. Got my heart rate up. I didn't hit the 5000 mark - but it's Sunday so I gave myself a break.
• Eating deadline. Stopped before 9pm. Having only water after 9pm and feeling full.
• Bedtime-Sleep Hygiene. I've been getting to bed earlier - but taking forever to get comfortable and get to sleep. 6:30am before falling asleep. Up at noon today.
• Bright Spot today: Listened to podcast Happier with Gretchen Rubin and her sister Elizabeth Craft. Ep.216: Give Someone an Unusual Compliment.
• Today I’m grateful for:
1. Fresh eggs for breakfast - courtesy of our own hens.
2. Rotisserie chickens at the grocery store - we can get 2 meals from them easily. Tonight was the 2nd meal and it was as good as the 1st.
3. Epsom Salt and Lavender oil - in my bath tonight. (And my husband for preparing my bath tonight.)
4. Fresh, clean sheets to sleep on tonight.
5. This group. ❤ Posting my accountability posts here daily is truly helping me. I feel driven to get up and move. To plan my food. To track it. To work on my sleep hygiene.
Thank you!

Did an hour on Wii balance games today. The plan for tomorrow is to do one segment of the AM Yoga DVD then take the extremepump class then count the money at the church, go to bowling, then ceramics, then mahjongg.
Rebecca – LOL the sign
Lalala – pizza under 500 calories? Was that for the entire pizza? How big was it? That’s great
Lisa – I never heard of a batting that had wash out adhesive. Is the adhesive on both sides, so that means you don’t have to baste? I just now found out about a pencil that you can mark on the fabric where you want to stitch then it comes out when you iron it. What a great thing that is! Now batting with adhesive? Can you get this anywhere?
KJ – when we were at the ballgame yesterday, I understand that there was a tornado warning in the area. Not by us! There was hail -- but not by us. They were thinking that that was the reason that not that many people showed up.
I’m thinking that I may need to go to Aldi today. Looks like the grapes won’t be on sale next week and I’m thinking that I’ll make this grape salad for the gal whose house we play mahjongg at’s birthday next week and then also make it for Rummikub. Update: went, I thought I could do it before the rain came and just as I was leaving, it started to drizzle. In the car coming home did it ever come down…but at least I was in the car.
Made the grape salad. Really, I think just the Greek Yogurt, sugar and vanilla is sufficient for the sauce. I made two helpings, I’ll take some to the people where I take the extremepump class. Washing the dishes right now.
Sent a note to the new treasurer of Newcomers reminding him to send me the list of the nonrenewing members so that I can remove them from the mail list. He said that as of April 1 we have 3 new members. I have one application. I’m sure the other two are the two that he gave to Sandi, but I’m not going to worry about it. Let someone else track them down. Update: only one name I didn't have the application for (the other was in March). I bet this is the one he gave to Sandi, but I don't know this for a fact.
Making a cake for Vince to have during the week. I have some icing in the freezer that I’d like to finish up.
Margaret – I was just watching an episode of “The Rookie” where they were dealing with people with mental illness and I constantly thought of you and your son
A friend of mine from grade school moved down here about 1-1/2 hr east of here. Another friend of mine from grade school is coming to visit with her in July. I haven’t seen either of them in a LOOOONNNGGG time, probably since high school. Can’t wait. Too bad I have to wait until July, tho
Shannon – YAAAAAAAA
Welcome everyone new and those returning.
Rori – thanks for the update about Meg. Give her my love next time you talk to her.

Morning, afternoon and evening all,
Only for the quilting/crafting set:Lisa – I never heard of a batting that had wash out adhesive. Is the adhesive on both sides, so that means you don’t have to baste? I just now found out about a pencil that you can mark on the fabric where you want to stitch then it comes out when you iron it. What a great thing that is! Now batting with adhesive? Can you get this anywhere?
Michele in NC
Michele - yep, it's called fusible batting - you place the batting between the pieced top and the backing fabric and simply iron from the center of your piece toward the outside in circles with your iron on high. It's repositionable, in case you accidentally iron in a wrinkle, so no basting or pinning. Makes quilting so much easier. After you're done quilting, you wash the quilt, and the adhesive washes right out. I'm not sure I'd try it on a full-sized quilt, but for the size I'm making, it works really well. I ordered mine from Amazon, as Hobby Lobby is about 20 miles away, but they often carry it. I tried the spray adhesives, and they're far too messy.
Small things - don't touch the stuff directly with your iron, it will stick right to it. It also does shrink slightly after washing, like 2%, but I want my quilts to have texture as well as design, so I like the look it gives to the finished quilt. You shouldn't pre-wash your fabric, if using it, so that the fabric and the batting shrink at about the same rate. I used it on a quilt that I stored for more than a year before actually quilting it, and it needed only a small amount of touchup with the iron to adhere beautifully.
Have I mentioned that I don't like to sew by hand? Even to baste a quilt together. This stuff was made for me.
Hope it is/was/will be a good Monday for all. Nagging small health issues continue, but determined to find the resolution, and will, in the end. Just need to be patient. Still not my strong suit, but there's something to be learned from everything.
Traveling late this week, and will probably need to stay the night in Little Rock Thursday night. Wasn't going to, but a 9 a.m. meeting there means a 5:30 a.m. departure from home, and then only a half hour to prep in an unfamiliar meeting room for a presentation in front of 15 people, so will go the night before and set things up. Shouldn't be a problem for my boss, she's pretty relaxed about stuff. Also means I won't have to drive six hours in a single day, but three hours each day.
Egg's asleep on my lap, my husband's coffee's all set up, and all's right with my Monday morning world. Hope everyone has a good week!
Love y'all!

Kim & Barbie love your helpful advice about weighing/measuring/averaging and super quote "never compare your weight loss to a man" that about sums it up.
Ginger I get a lot from journaling and reading my weekly/monthly/quarterly reviews myself. Your gratitude list is always inspiring.
Torrential storms coming through this week, the flip side of that, the pollen count has lowered and my allergies are in sweet relief.
I only have 2 concerts this week and booked my bus ticket to DC this weekend, so looking forward to that!

Had a bad weekend eating empty calories, so need to get back on track this week. My friend gave us quiche and coffee and cake! Which wasn't too bad, but she also gave me some cakes to take home, I did give the caramel slice to DD and the brownie to DS but ate the frangipane (spelling??) soooo many calories I found out when logging later. Sunday wasn't much better.
Today I have started Aerobics for beginners, I found it quite difficult - just shows how out of condition I am. It is on the NHS Website, hope I can find it again tomorrow
Welcome newcomers.
Time is getting away from me as usual, so I'm going to get some chores done before going to check on mum and dad. I have some bills to pay for them today, so better get a move on.
Love to all
