So, I've had this raging cold for a three days now, since Saturday evening. I've been producing a bucket-load of ... well, let's say my nose hasn't stopped running for 3 days (although a hot shower and the spicy burrito did seem to help a little).
For about hour Sunday night, I felt quite nauseated, but then came good.
This morning, I had a craving for eggs on toast, and so we found a cafe that had eggs on toast ... yummy! I had just commented to my husband that they hit the spot, when on the next bite, my stomach said, "NOPE!" And there was a mad sprint to the toilet. I didn't even have time to explain anything to my husband. Weird.
Usually, if I've got the flu, there's a build up of not feeling well and I stop feeling hungry ... and in particular, I'm not craving eggs! Usually I have to be feeling pretty good if I crave eggs. So I'm not sure what was going on this morning!! (BTW - definitely not pregnant!)
And then I drove all day through the Tasmanian countryside.

An 8 mile walking day yesterday. Didn’t snap any pics, forgot my phone. Met Rachel’s supervisor at work, took photos from the “speaker’s balcony” in the Capitol then walked onto the floor of the house chamber. I have to say it was inspiring to stand there, a little like walking onto Yankee stadium center field or the stage of Carnegie hall, it was a special moment for us.
The rest of the day was more sight seeing, we were both so tired at night we watched a Netflix movie and ate crackers for dinner under a blanket, very cozy. Slept like a rock and am ready for a day to myself while rachel goes into work. I am planning on taking a local yoga class and then walking on a bike/running trail that is close by. Also have to buy the perfect gift for my bff 60th bday this weekend. Tomorrow it is back to reality, I travel home.

Heather could it be allergies? Sorry you're still sick.
Lanette ditto Tracey's wish that you're able to confound the Dr's prediction.
Katla are you growing beans in containers?
Tracey your grandson sounds quite creative, another apple not far...
pip fun pics of you and your friend through the years. How is it that neither of you have aged?
NYKaren beautiful pics, is that kale growing around the tulip?
Ginny in OH Great steps!
Michele you really make me miss my wii. Gonna have to either buy a "new" used one or find out if the new versions are backwards compatible with my balance board.
KJ love the Joaquin bunny, hard to be so far away.
Lisa 3 pounds for 3 days of no gluten and sugar? Dang that's evidence that's hard to ignore. Planted 65 bulbs? Oof!
Machka another sinus helper is to stand in a hot shower for many minutes several times a day. "spicy ... sauce... helped clear out the sinuses" Ah yes! Fond memory of flying to England with bronchitis, getting caught in a summer storm in Brighton, eating THE VERY BEST curry I've ever had and ... Presto Changeo! No more Bronchitis!
Carol, prayers for your BnL but most of all for your DH and you.
Kay Sinkholes and trees falling on friends-in-car? :ohno: Hope the surgery is successful.
Rebecca, summer sandwich and two small cookies instead of everything in the bakery? Well done!
Ginger so glad you posted. Many times our brains tell us we've totally failed, when in reality it wasn't so bad. It's hard to get in that much fiber with so few carbs. I think you did great for not giving into that "catastrophic thinking." re: the Snatch Grabber Joe doesn't seem to mind reaching things for me when he's handy, but I'm not patient or willing to go find him just to get something from a high shelf. Nor am I willing to stand on a chair as I used to do, my fear of falling is too strong.
Okie, Tracey and others who've noticed a bit of slippage, count me in. Sunday WAY over indulged and not for the first this month. Today was better, many bonus calories burned in the yard. Felt good to work so hard and eat well. Tomorrow will be even better.
Katla little black bugs, eeuw! Hope your Persian wool rugs weren't damaged.
Allie know that hospice decision was a hard one, but you're right, it's important to get comfort care in place.
Carol, Tracey, Betsy and those having to log back in to get to this page, are you on phones or pcs? If pc's, try logging out from MFP, clearing browser history cache, then logging back in. Me, I always uncheck the "remember me" every time so I login once per session, just for security's sake.
Annie from Idaho shifting that little devil on your shoulder to a positive angel is key. Well done!

Totoro tree down. Joe worked all day helping tree guys move branches to the burn pile, while I walked Tumble, rolled 15 slices of tree trunks up the hill and boy, those suckers are heavy. We'll use them for garden path "stones". Then it was like I couldn't stop, wandered around the garden, grabbed the shovel, and prepped 5 holes into which I'll plant potatoes tomorrow.
Speaking of Joe getting more active, he's also changing his food habits. He used to breakfast on half a pound of bacon, half a roll of sausage, grits, biscuits or fried potatoes and half a dozen eggs. This is what he made himself for breakfast today:
So proud of him!

Just a quick post, spent ages clearing the garage with DS this morning, took a load of wood and bits to the local tip. Tried to call someone out to see (and buy) all the scrap metal, but didn't realise how difficult that would be!! Finally someone said they would come out tomorrow and have a look. I'm exhausted.
We've got all the stuff we want to sell at the front of the garage to make it easier for them to see how much there is. A bit worried because the firm I phoned said they couldn't come out, but gave me the number of someone who could help. I didn't get a name so not sure if it's a proper firm, or just someone doing it on the side if you know what I mean. I don't want a fortune for it, but don't want to be scammed either.
Had to phone the doctor for my dad, he's not been too well over the weekend, turns out he has an infection and is back on antibiotics.
Loved the photo of Joaquin in the bunny ears.
Need to have a rest before taking the dog out - getting old lol
Love to all

I did most of my exercises with DH and then he went off to cricket and I went mad cleaning and prepping the house for our overnight guests. Phew! Changed the beds, moved boxes left over from the move, cleaned anything they might see and vacated my bathroom. I even cleaned the insides of all the windows and glass doors in the extension!
Then I ran out to the pharmacy and bought some sinus spray. I hardly slept last night with being bunged up. The pharmacist said there was a lot of sinus around. The spray seems to have helped and I've taken a pain killer. She didn't seem to think a doctor was necessary.
Luckily I haven't got to cook for tonight as my friends are going over to their son who lives nearby. I have made a cake for when they arrive, in about an hour. It's a very long drive from Cornwall. They are off tomorrow to catch the ferry from Dover to do a tour of the bulb fields in Holland. I hope to use some of the croissants for breakfast that we made ages ago. Haven't tried them yet!
I feel very underpar and my back is aching. Might doze for a few minutes. Not sure I'm up to Swing dancing this evening. DH won't be back for it.

Heather/Machka: Sounds like you are both suffering a bit. Hope it goes soon for you both.
Kayla: I hope the colonoscopy results are helpful. That’s good news about the cyst.
☘️ Irish Terri1 -
Barbara: I am not growing beans in containers because I really don't have the space for that. I will soak the seeds and plant them directly into the soil in early May. I hope for the soil to warm up a bit before I plant.
Machka: It seems like you’re feeling better. I hope every day is better than the one before.
Heather: Sorry to hear that you’re not still feeling well. It seems like you’ve done everything you can to make your guests feel warmly welcomed and comfortable. I hope you'll be able to get some rest before they arrive and don't get worn out while they're there. :flowerforyou:
There is nothing on the calendar today, but tomorrow we’re going in to the doctor’s office to get the micro results from DH’s colonoscopy. Hopefully this will provide direction on how best to keep him feeling as good as possible. On the subject of my health, the cist that I plan to have removed has unexpectedly shrunk quite dramatically. I think I’ll be postponing surgery on that. We’ll see if it stays smaller.

My friends arrived and had some cake and a cup of tea. After a tour of the house I dragged the wife out for a stroll along the seafront. (The husband has a bad hip). Then they went off to see their son. They will be back some time around 9pm.
DH isn't back yet, so I've eaten my half of the fish soup. I'm not going to Swing as my back is aching and I am sooooooooooooo tired.
They are in the room where I've been sleeping, so I will take myself into the other spare room. Haven't slept in there yet. It's in the front of the house, so streetlights and a bit of traffic. But I really can't sleep with DH at the moment. I hope the nasal spray will help.
It's nice to have visitors who don't stay too long!

Hello Everyone, I'm Tammy and I'm in Maryland,
I'm not new to MFP but it's been a long while since I've done this. Today I find myself feeling so disgusted with myself. I've gained back the 50 pounds I lost and then some. I look at myself in the mirror and I don't like what I see at all. I've sat here crying about it. I grew up in a family that has all of these bad habits and it's so hard to break these habits and get support. I am an emotional eater, its what I do when I'm upset or sad or angry. I lost my only brother just a year ago due to poorly managed diabetes at the young age of 49. I'm looking for some folks to help me to get motivated and stay motivated without judging me. I did journal my food today and yesterday. It is so depressing to get to this point and most people just don't understand what its like to struggle with your weight.11 -
Hi Tammy! Welcome. Yes, it can be tough. I’m working on it too. Emotional eating - for comfort - is a tough habit to change. Tracking daily is a good step.

Hope everyone is having a good day! Last week was quite stressful with my mother’s health issues and having work done on the house. But I think doing the closets over and getting mirrored doors on my closet will help me tremendously. I see the numbers on the scale. I see the size 22 and 3X in my clothes. But in my minds eye I was not a huge fat lady. I didn’t have any full length mirrors in the house and I avoid taking pictures. Now I can see myself as others see me. When I am in bed or dressing I look like I am spreading out in all directions, like something melting! Boy, have I been in denial for a long time! Every time I go into my bedroom I am looking at myself, and I don’t like how I look one bit! The image in the mirror is a great motivator!4 -
Well I had a good workout! Then used the sauna, and there was a gal in there with her ear buds in. She had her rap music thumping, and I could hear every word. There was another gal in there too but wasn't hearing her music. I wrestle with telling her to turn it down, or just endure. I know she would take it the wrong way, and tell me to f*#k off. So I just put my fingers in my ears, and wait it out. It was 5 minutes, and I was not confrontational. Pick and choose my battles....😔👍😁

Janetr: I love the photos of your daughter and granddaughter.
Tammy from MD: Welcome!!!
I love where we live. We have good neighbors and a great view. There are a pair of Osprey nesting on a piling across the channel from us that has been spending summers in that nesting site for many years. I’ve seen both on the nest at the same time, and they look exactly alike from my distance. That made me wonder so I looked it up in some of our bird books. Evidently the mated pairs do look alike to the person across the way. I’m neither blind nor confused. Good news!

Oops, sorry, I have a correction. My granddaughter informed me that those pictures were taken at the ruins of Pompeii NOT the Colosseum.

Janet--Don't stop posting. I enjoy everyone's pictures.
Lenora--Happy to see you. Missed you. Sorry to hear about your falls. Please be careful.
Allie--Sorry to hear about the job, what a mess. Hospice is a big descion and I know you know it's the right time.
Margaret--Hugs and prayers for all three of you.
Tracey--Sorry to hear about your fall. Hope you are okay after the fall.
Heather--Sounds like a great train adventure.
Annie--I am sending the little man on my shoulder with yours and work on replacing with positive. Thanks,
Oakie--Glad it was good news.
Tammy--Welcome. I know just what you mean about growing up with bad habits as with 5 kids my mom did her best,, but pasta and bread were cheap and fast.I know I did the same with my family and now trying to change is not easy. One day at a time and just never give up.
Weigh in this morning was not good and no one to blame but myself. Can't explain why I feel so blah lately. Got to sit down and have a serious talk with myself. But not giving up;
Blessings, Vicki GI NE

Happy National Talk Like Shakespeare Day!
"Born April 23, 1564, William Shakespeare is the author of some of the world’s most celebrated plays and poems. In 2016, we honored the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death. What better way to celebrate his life and art than to speak like poet and playwright. We can speak like Shakespeare by substituting thou, thee and ye for you and they. Rhyming couplets and creative insults were his particular favorites."
I haven't read or posted in so long I won't even try to catch up. Just know that I think of you all every day and wish you well! I got really busy with work and social stuff, and I focused most of my effort on Noom tracking instead of double tracking in both places. My membership with Noom should be winding up pretty soon though, so I need to get back in the habit of doing more than just checking in here on MFP.
A couple of weeks ago I took a bad fall while walking home with Philip from a new taproom opening in town. (I was stone sober.) My toe caught on a bit of uneven pavement and I went down hard right onto my face. Knocked a couple of teeth lose, scraped up my face, and sprained my right thumb and right knee. I'm slowly recovering but the worst part about it was emotional... the other times I've broken myself like that I was at least doing something interesting. Not so much this time, and it made me feel like an old woman.
The last few days I'm fighting for motivation too, but I'll pull myself together.

That I shall say good night till it be morrow."

Yvonne ~ Hugs! So sorry to hear about your fall. I did that a few years ago when I tripped over a throw rug in my basement. Broke my glasses and left me bruised.
Went to PT yesterday with entire leg swollen to beat the band. Leg looks like I have it covered in tattoos (bruises)! But, the guy worked with me and this AM I woke up to see both ankles. Felt so much better...must admit when I try to do the stretches prescribed, I end up with a badly hurting knee. Will go again tomorrow and hop I am a better patient. Hoping that one good thing will result from all this and that is I can't have any wine with the medicines I am taking. I figure if I can go 14 day without my evening wine, I might lose some weight and get over my dependence on it for going to sleep at night.
BnL is still in ICU with acute kidney failure. The doctors don't hold much hope for him and I feel so sorry for DH as he is the only one there for him.
Good wishes to all and healing thoughts to those who need them.

Carol: so sorry that your BnL is ailing. (((Hugs)))
Dear Yvonne, please be careful where ye stroll
lest broken flagstones precipitate a roll.
Us ladies of a certain age must be
vigilant, all obstacles to see.
We fall from grace, old habits raise their heads.
We stuff ourselves with buns and cake and breads.
When motivation flags, give Pip a call.
Her boot will kick old habits to the wall.

Visit to the dentist was successful with problem easy to fix and not too expensive.
Carol, sorry about your BnL but mostly sorry about your husband's feelings of concern.
Yvonne, sorry to hear about your fall.
About emotional eating. The only thing that I know that works is to find a substitute activity to soothe troubled emotions....walking is what works for me or riding my exercise bike and watching TV...for others it is crafts...for others it is watching funny cat videos on YouTube.
Too drizzly today to make yard work any fun.

Taking care of parents (or in-laws) is very tiring, especially towards the end. Make sure you are taking care of yourself @grandmallie --it is easy for caretakers to overlook themselves.
Made it through all day meeting, and it was actually pretty good. Working on assessment to better deal with drug issue in community. Lots of good people there.
Did extra treadmill time this morning since I knew today would be lots of sitting, Did end up at around 9,000 steps when I got home. It was so nice out, decided to go for a "short walk" before dinner (I can get lazy after I eat). Before I knew it, I had walked 53 minutes (and 49 this morning). It was just so nice being out and moving in the fresh air. I believe if I wasn't hungry, I could have kept going. So I have back-to-back days of over 15,000.
Best wishes to those having health issues of their own and with family. Life is all about how we handle things.
Carol-haven't done rehab with knee, but have had both hips replaced. Stretches, etc., are tough but end up being worth it. And it is not surprising for bruises to pop up a bit after the surgery. Swelling can take quite awhile to go away.
Hope everyone has a good rest and wakes to a good Wednesday.

DH has been a trooper on this trip. He never complains or asks for anything, so when the opportunity presented to upgrade our Hoover Dam tour to a helicopter, I couldn't resist. The last time we took a helicopter together was for our honeymoon on Kauai, 31 years ago. Good fun, and a great memory made.
We are resting now, trying to decide if we want to go out for dinner or order in. I've been having one alcoholic drink per day, and more carbs than usual. Other than that, my food choices and quantities have been decent. Lots of walking everyday has been my only exercise, ugh. Tomorrow we have an 8 hour drive to Cortez, Colorado. The route goes right by Four Corners Monument, a point in the USA where Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado share a border. The area is has several state and national parks, as well as large Native American reservations. DH is part NA, so is looking forward to that part of the trip.
Sorry to hear about some of you who have niggling illnesses or injuries. Please take care, ladies. I send you warm thoughts and energy from the beautiful southwest.

Kate - I think all kids that grow up on farms think that letting children drive in the fields is normal. I did it as a child and my parents did it with my girls. I think they are great childhood memories. Did your daughter not grow up in the country?
Barbara - that meal of Joe’s looks much healthier. I have to log on on every device I use. iPhone, iPad and laptop. It’s every group as well. The funny part is if I just go out to the community part again 3 or 4 times it works. I never have to actually sign in.
Karen in NY - what a wonderful time you are having.
Heather - you keep pushing right on with that sinus/cold you have going on. Maybe a day of rest is needed.
Rebecca - that picture reminds me is a puzzle by Grandmother did when I was young.
Janet - what a lovely trip for your daughter and granddaughter.
Tammy - welcome you have come to a very supportive group.
Laura - it is pictures that have helped keep me motivated. Maybe I need to put some of those pictures on my fridge and in the snack cupboard.
Vicki - isn’t that the truth, pasta and bread are cheap. I have been trying very hard to not resort to that since I haven’t been working, but it sure makes it hard on the wallet to not give in.
Yvonne - I totally understand your feelings about falling. Hope you are healing fast.
Terri - love your little poem!
Barbie - I so agree, boredom is the downfall for me with eating. Which really is a type of emotion.
When I quit smoking I used sunflower seeds to keep my mouth and hands busy. At the time I was quitting I was so scared of gaining weight I actually lost 30 lbs. I haven’t figured out a substitute for eating yet.
Ginny - great job on the 15k steps!
Had my day in the house alone since last August. It seemed very strange but enjoyable. I spent the morning reading all of the links the lady sent me that I need to know for the job I am hoping to get. I knew more than I thought I did about Financial Management. I need to learn more of the definitions and acronyms and will learn those over the next couple of weeks. I told Sarah I was feeling more confident and she sent me videos to watch on how they present and teach so that I am confident with that as well. It’s like she’s training me for the job before I even interview. I am so hopeful for this position.
After I finished studying I went for a long walk. 5.8 kms. I may try for longer tomorrow. I have to make a couple of cards tomorrow too, my Moms birthday is next week and it seems to have snuck up on me.

rori love the pic of you two in front of the helicopter! Have fun!
I was on my own today and seized it by doing things I wanted to do. 7 miles of walking and took a yoga class with an excellent teacher. Very relaxing and strenuous, i did my best to keep up. After an afternoon nap I found a bus that would take me to Adams Morgan neighborhood to meet rachel at an outdoor restaurant, I did have a beer and ate guacamole but kept dinner small and no dessert for me. We walked another 2 miles home. A lovely day, absolutely hot but a good day.
Funny, we stopped at a popsicle place where they also sell “pupsicles” for doggies wanting a frozen treat, it’s peanut butter frozen in water and from what I could see, the pups were loving it.
