Did a spinning downloadable workout. The plan for tomorrow is to go to the water class.

Counted the money at the church then came home and helped Vince get out the umbrellas, etc. for the pool then cut the grass. The plan is to put down grass seed and weed and feed on Thurs. I just learned, tho, that my MRI next Tuesday is going to cost $645.73 and it needs to be paid before I have the MRI

📙Accountability post for Monday, April 22nd
✔️1. Carbs 50g max with no more than 25g per meal. (47g)
✔️2. Fiber 25g. (27g)
✔️3. Track in MFP. Complete the entry daily.
✖️4. Exercise - log 30 Fitbit minutes (ZERO Active minutes).
✔5. No eating after 9pm.
✔6. In bed by midnight.
• Overall Feeling: TIRED. I don’t know if Sunday wore me out or if it was too much of the wrong foods. But, i was lethargic. Then realized i hadn’t taken my morning meds.
• Exercise: Nope. 1641 total steps.
• Eating deadline. I ate more in line with my plan today.
• Bedtime-Sleep Hygiene. Asleep before 11pm. Slept 1.5 hours then awake for an hour and slept another 9.5 hours.
• Bright Spot today: Stouffers mini meatloafs in gravy - only 9 carbs and it was pretty good.
• Today I’m grateful for:
1. Retirement.
2. Financial freedom.
3. My eye sight. I won’t take it for granted.
4. My hearing. Though the loud white noise in my left ear is bothersome.
5. My mother’s witty humor. She keeps me laughing every day.
Almost forgot to post this one. It’s 10pm. I’m headed to bed.

Realized when reviewing exercise that I have walked on treadmill every morning for the last 14 days for at least 20 minutes--that really seems to get my day off to a good start. When I can, I also walk 30 minutes on my lunch hour (meetings sometimes get in the way of that). I did 29 minutes this am and it was so beautiful outside that I took a walk around the neighborhood for 50 minutes before dinner. Did stretches and my light weight exercises. Long story short, I am ending my day with 15,500 steps and 6.5 miles. I really feel better with movement. More importantly, it feels good to take care of myself. Hopefully I will be at my goal weight by 65th birthday in November (that will be a great present!). Currently at 156 with a current goal of 145, but may see how my body feels there and if a further drop is sensible (I'm 5'6").

We really want to get a treadmill.
We've got a rowing machine and bicycles on trainers, and can technically walk outside year round, but on those chilly, dark, windy, rainy days, it would just be so much more convenient to hop on the treadmill and walk or jog.

I read some comments earlier on stress eating and how or what to do to turn it around. I will be 70 years old in November and it took me until 65 to finally begin to get stress eating/binge eating under control. Am I perfect at succeeding all the time, no of course not. First of all we have to realize that life happens every day, there will be stress every day it's NOT going away. I spent years and years of yoyo dieting, losing and regaining 1500 pounds (well a lot at any rate), eating when stressed until I felt miserable, sluggish, and sometimes literally physically ill and going to bed. Only to wake up in the morning feeling even worse because that's when the self recrimination starts. Beating myself up, mad at myself and feeling like a complete failure and yep stressed over it and so it starts over. Believe me when I say, I brought more stress into my life than any of my other stressors. We may not have control over the stressful situations going on in our life, but we do have control over what we put in our mouth and bodies. That's a wonderful stress reliever for me!!

Yvonne I am so with you, had a similar fall a few years ago, broke my glasses, cracked the orbit bone around my eye, but at least didn't break my wrist that time. My last few falls have not only made me feel like an old woman but have instilled FEAR of falling in me, and I hate it.

Monday eating well and sweating in the yard I felt great. Felt so good that I did it all over again today, gardening, extra long line dance class, wholesome food. Now I'm so pooped I'll just sign off and zzzzzz.....

Morning Ladies~
I love to hear the birds singing outside.. little things like that make me happy..would really like my cup of tea.. but will make it in a travel mug and have it after my blood work.. have to gas up the car first..
then will be back in town to walk the pups and feed DFIL , even though it might be just a little bit, its better than nothing.. and Tom keeps telling me I should take a break.. well he is in Florida and I want to spend every precious moment with him,even if he isnt verbal...and thats what I told him..
Hospice will call today and I have to be around so that I can sign paper's.. to me I dont feel that it is a death sentence ,but a comfortable way to transition...like I told you before in hindsight we should have done that for Tom's mom...
going to go watch joyce and then go get gas and blood work done.5 -

Yvonne - so sorry about your fall. I fell over a paving stone while I was out running in York , but I managed to save myself from a bad injury. I bruised my knee and did a bit of damage to an old crack in my arm bone, but it has healed up again. Couldn't do my push ups for a while.
It's important to practise your balance every day and to strengthen your core in order to avoid falling and to manage the fall if you do trip up. The plank is one of the best exercises you can do for yourself.
My guests have gone. It was nice seeing them, especially for such a short time! I actually slept last night with the help of the nasal spray, :drinker: but I am still a bit deaf and have face ache. My stiff neck is also improving. I hope to join DH back in our bed tonight.
Going for a run after lunch, might try for 7k. DH will walk with me. Tonight is the French Circle. It's a talk about Belgian chocolate.
The burning question is, shall we go out for pizza at Fatto a Mano before the lecture?

Janet - Amen from this corner, too... Stress is part of the deal. The only thing I would add is that every bite is a choice. You can choose not to eat that bite every single, solitary time. Not "Monday," or "tomorrow," or "I'll eat a good dinner to make up for it." Every bite. Now. And no, I don't make the right choices every time, either. But I'm choosing to own the fact that it's a choice, and I'm the one making it.
Rori - You look ahMAYzing! Love your smile, love your hat, and love that you are choosing to make your husband's journey one where you walk with him and beside him. You're my hero.
Machka and Heather - so sorry you're both still feeling rotten. Hope today sees you turn a corner.
Carol - So pleased it's going well, and yes, I've been remiss in stretching lately and am paying for it. So pleased, here at about 80 days post-op, to be out of pain, but need to get back on the PT. I'm so sorry about your brother-in-law.

Went to see Celtic Woman last night in concert, and was totally surprised that the touring group is the same women you see in the PBS specials these days. Such a pleasure to listen to the harmonies, and the crystalline voices raised in lovely old songs, as well as some new. The violinist is a marvel to watch, and it was a wonderful show, well-constructed, nicely done. Was truly worth the loss of sleep, and so glad we went. They've replaced the blonde lady in the middle since this video was done, but they are still amazing:

So much joy in a few hours, and the bagpiper on Amazing Grace was, for me one of the absolute highlights.
Busy morning - boiled eggs sitting in an ice bath, need to put together some deviled eggs and stop and get some fruit for our potluck picnic lunch for staff. I'm utterly undomestic (by choice, and by chance married a man who loves to cook), but I will make deviled eggs on occasion.

Heading home today counting blessings all the way. Feeling very nostalgic about everything and couldn’t sleep until I wrote Rachel a letter and slipped it into her backpack. Today will be a low mileage day for me, but I’ll get right back to moving more as soon as I unpack my bags!

It was a productive weekend, too, including the usual mowing and trimming of the acreage around the house. There was a hummock of ground in the back yard that was too steep to take the riding mower over. So, my husband pulled out the rotor-tiller (FAR too heavy for me to handle) and tilled it up for me, and we planted the 65 gladiolus bulbs that I bought on a whim right there... Those should make a nice bright spot of summer blooms, and be visible from the kitchen window.
We also stopped on the way home from grocery shopping at a new plant farm. I bought three coleus, one of my favorite decorative plants. Got those planted in a spot at the front of the house. He also got replacement tomato plants and jalapenos, as the last frost killed his.
And yesterday, we were able to take a lovely drive up country to Devil's Den National Park. It's only about a half hour from our house, but we took the long way around going up. Love the Ozarks--these winding mountain roads are so satisfying--the redbuds are just starting to fade, and the dogwoods are in full bloom. They both grow wild here, and are around every corner, tucked into every forest, and it's all forest!

So, I've had this raging cold for a three days now, since Saturday evening. I've been producing a bucket-load of ... well, let's say my nose hasn't stopped running for 3 days (although a hot shower and the spicy burrito did seem to help a little).
For about hour Sunday night, I felt quite nauseated, but then came good.
This morning, I had a craving for eggs on toast, and so we found a cafe that had eggs on toast ... yummy! I had just commented to my husband that they hit the spot, when on the next bite, my stomach said, "NOPE!" And there was a mad sprint to the toilet. I didn't even have time to explain anything to my husband. Weird.
Usually, if I've got the flu, there's a build up of not feeling well and I stop feeling hungry ... and in particular, I'm not craving eggs! Usually I have to be feeling pretty good if I crave eggs. So I'm not sure what was going on this morning!! (BTW - definitely not pregnant!)
And then I drove all day through the Tasmanian countryside.
When we got to our new destination yesterday, I laid down for a quick little relaxation before getting up and thinking about dinner ... 2 hours later I woke up and I hadn't moved a muscle in that time. I was that tired.
I've walked a bit today and felt like a limp dishrag all day. But fortunately, I've kept food down ... no more throwing up.
If I could remember how, I'd post a quick little video of where we were!

A couple of weeks ago I took a bad fall while walking home with Philip from a new taproom opening in town. (I was stone sober.) My toe caught on a bit of uneven pavement and I went down hard right onto my face. Knocked a couple of teeth lose, scraped up my face, and sprained my right thumb and right knee. I'm slowly recovering but the worst part about it was emotional... the other times I've broken myself like that I was at least doing something interesting. Not so much this time, and it made me feel like an old woman.
The last few days I'm fighting for motivation too, but I'll pull myself together.

DH has been a trooper on this trip. He never complains or asks for anything, so when the opportunity presented to upgrade our Hoover Dam tour to a helicopter, I couldn't resist. The last time we took a helicopter together was for our honeymoon on Kauai, 31 years ago. Good fun, and a great memory made.

With your feed back and from other dear friends I believe the letter is ready to be sent off to key people including the police. There I do need to give more details for others I need to protect son's privacy. My goal is to have the letters ready by Saturday to send them certified mail.
I hope you too consider using the deescalating initiative that Minneapolis Police Department is starting in their department. I think they are beginning to realize too many police officers and civilians are getting injured and killed using the warrior training method.
After witnessing how my son's arrest( I will give where and when here do not want to publish it here for privacy. The police will need this information) was handled I am in favor of the deescalating method.
Our son was being picked up on a warrant for missing a Mental Health Court date. Even though the Mental Health court had issued the warrant they were calling for police back up in a non emergency situation because they realized our son’s mental health was deteriorating. Their intention was not to arrest him but to get the medical help he needed.
If our son was threatening someone or destroying property I could see the police using the actions they took. He was asleep in his bed. The officers behavior aggravated the situation. I witnessed son repeatedly asking why he was being arrested. When the charges were read to him in court the judge issued a rule 20 meaning he is incapable of understanding the charges brought.
What I do not understand is why he was not taken to the hospital for evaluation then place an officer outside his door because of the warrant. Instead he was taken to jail where his mental state only disintegrated further. and underlined
When things escalated to the degree I witnessed I worried an officer and our son would get hurt. Our son was hurt. He was tased twice. Our son lashed out at the officers because he felt threatened. Our son was traumatized by this experience.
I ask you to review what happened not to issue any apology or reprimand to any one rather to find other ways to deescalate encounters to prevent anyone from getting hurt.
I am writing to you so hopefully better procedures will be implemented if police need to be involved with helping a mentally ill person. By thinking deescalate an encounter as an objective everyone involved is less likely to be harmed …the police, our sons and daughters, and society as a whole. These are goals I I believe we can all agree…

Rory, great choice to do the helicopter tour. I love the picture of the two of you in front of the helicopter in the sunshine. My DH is from four corners area and I love our visits to visit his stomping grounds.
On eating choices, I know every bite is a choice and some days making a good choice is challenging and sometimes it’s easier. I’ve noticed sugar has crept back into my diet this Easter week. Think I better pay attention.
Barbara, love Joe’s choice of breakfast plate. There’s maybe hope for my DH. He loves his bacon sausage etc. He pokes fun at my meatless breakfasts and meals. What magic words did you use? :-)

Janet, great words about stress eating. I am not always successful at avoiding it, but I continue to do less damage each time.
My current paper sorting and discarding project is a file of "letters of recommendation" that I wrote over the 30+ years I was teaching. I am enjoying the memories of the great aides and student teachers and colleagues for whom I wrote recommendations and also impressed by how well I wrote. I'm not going to keep or scan most of the letters but the trip down memory lane has been delightful.
The other project was going through spices with Jake and discarding ones that we haven't used in a long time and don't expect to use. We got rid of a lot of stuff including two salt and pepper shaker sets. I never use salt or pepper at the table and Jake uses salt substitute and a pepper grinder. We washed the shakers and will donate them to the thrift store. We have containers of salt and pepper for cooking that we use from time to time. It's so much easier to find the things we use with all the stuff we don't use out of the way.
Today is haircut day followed by buying more dirt for the flower beds.

Barbie - Joyce Meyer she is a bible teacher- evangelist that speaks right to you.. not all those crazy ones on t.v. she tells it like it is.. very inspirational..going to see her in Albany the weekend of May 17-18 .. pre paid for hotel..and if I know my DFIL that will be the exact time he decides to leave lol.. that's Otto in a nutshell.. I just love that man.. only got the ice cream with meds in him this morning.. going to pick up some canned spaghetti that can easily be chopped up to see if he might eat that tonight... yes that is my morning routine get my cup of tea and watch Joyce.3

We managed about 3.4 km walking along beaches, very slowly. And now it is blowing a gale and raining. Evidently there could be snow on Friday.

This pm I went out with DH to run/shuffle 7k. Made it! The longest I have ever run. So proud of myself. At least now I will have enough calories for pizza. (I did my normal 600 this morning + the 469 I burnt on my run)
The pizzas are the thin, dry kind. Not the big fat ones. :laugh:
I squirted my nostrils before I went out.

Just remember to limit the spray to 3 or 4 days. It should say on the info sheet.
It is really easy to keep using that stuff because you feel like you can breathe well for the first time in ages. And before you know it ... it's incredibly difficult to stop using it.
Be careful.

If I recall his cheques should say which bank ... but I haven't seen a cheque in about 12 years so I could be wrong.
Or can you pay at the post office? That's one option here as long as we have the bill and account info. I had to do that when my husband went into hospital last year because I didn't know how things were being paid.
