Viv UK: Deepest Sympathy. Prayers and hugs for you and your family at this sad time.
Heather UK: Great article by your DDiL. I was reading about this syndrome just last week.
Margaret: so glad your son is on the mend.
Beth: It's lucky you remembered about that tick. Hope hubby is on the mend.
Re closets: I was always a bit of a clothes hoarder, myself. I was taught to keep everything, 'just in case'. There were lots of hand-me-downs. Then I did a declutter Challenge a couple of years ago, and changed my viewpoint. Got rid of so many items. Still working on it.
@drkatiebug ❤️ the new hairstyle and glasses.
Sending positive vibes to those who need them.
Planning to work in the garden today if the weather holds out.

VIV sorry you lost your Dad
REBECCA love photos I remember holding my first grandchild 18 years ago. What a feeling like nothing else in the world

Morning Ladies~
thank you for all the love and support..I know what your saying.. and Barbie what you say rings true.. I spoke with the girls yesterday and they all said the same thing.. stay here.. just look for a different job..
Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith and step out of your comfort zone.. and maybe this is one of those times...work today and ,when your stomach starts churning thinking about it, and what he is going to complain you didn't do when you get in . isnt a fun morning...6 -
Viv UK Love and hugs for you and your mom.
Rebecca You and Athena Rose together is a lovely, lovely sight.
Allie You've put up with lots of difficult situations. You can do this. Hang in there until you find a better job.
Barbara Thanks to you and everyone else who has replied to my ongoing rambling about my grandson's autism spectrum diagnosis.
Pip My doggies are sending yips, butt sniffs, and sloppy kisses to Bullwinkle sweet girl.
________
My heart failure doggie Bailey has an appointment with his regular veterinarian today for labs and bloodwork. Later this week we go to his cardiologist. Bailey is doing better than I expected. He rests a lot, but has bursts of energy and can still chase a squirrel, bark at a jogger, and leap like a gazelle from the floor up to the footrest of the recliner. These are photos of Bailey as a puppy and as an adult. He is the white doggie. His puppy markings faded, typical for this breed:

Viv - Sorry to hear about your beloved dad, but he was right about the 'good innings'. Glad he passed peacefully.
Rebecca - Sooooooooooooo happy for you!
Dana - Unfortunately it wasn't us who went to the concert, but my son and his wife. They came back absolutely stunned. He said he wanted to go next year, for whoever it is, unless it's someone they hate. It's less than 10 mins walk away in the cricket ground. They saw Lionel Ritchie in the past. Not their thing, but they loved it.
I'm going to ask him if we can go with them next year. Don’t know who it will be. My son gets early booking rights, so we can get in early. Of course, they will have to find a babysitter. He was almost as delighted to find himself amongst all the local celebs! !
Going to have a leisurely bath this morning in prep for going up to London.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -
wow Joyce hit the nail on the head this morning.. Only you can make your life happy~ be grateful for all you have ,and don't give the devil the satisfaction of bringing you down.. be joyful in all situations..
So I will do my best today at being joyful in all situations...7 -
Becca. How full of love you look holding that beautiful Athena Rose. So happy for you
Packed a healthy breakfast and lunch and off to work I go.

Viv - I'm so sorry for your dad's loss, thinking of you and your mom this morning...
Rebecca - the look of bliss on your face with that baby girl in your arms! Worth much more than a bus ride, no matter how long. Welcome to the circle of grandmas... you'll be amazing!
Beth - hope they got the antibiotics to your husband quickly enough. Scary stuff. Ticks are bad here because of all the rain, and I've had a few bites. Here, they carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Supposedly, only one in a thousand carries it, but I want to know who counts! I seldom trust those kind of numbers, having been on the wrong side of the odds enough in my life, thank-you-very-much.
Allie - Do what's right for you, my dear, and follow your instincts.
Karen VA - Hope the results are good for Bailey, and glad that there is more help available for your grandson - your dedication to his welfare is amazing, heartwarming, and will directly result in helping him live a better life. I'm filled with awe...
Barbara AHMOD - I didn't move those rocks... my husband did, alone, with the assistance of a two-wheel dolly. Or at least, that's what he said anyway. Bluntly, I need my hands for my work, and can be clumsy, so it was one of the times I chose to simply not participate. In fact, I left, as I would have been a twitchy wreck if I watched him do it, or even worse tried to help. Most of the time, for all these tasks like this, I put on heavy leather gloves and dive right in, but all I could see was one of those smashing my hand. Perhaps I've gotten some sense as I've got older? He's nine years younger, so hasn't got there yet...
Katiebug - You look amazing, and even better to me, very happy. Lovely pic.
Amber - love the Siobhan videos, actually did laugh out loud. Funny lady. As are you.
It's another Monday... but got notification in my work e-mail Friday afternoon of a rather large grant won! Quite pleased about it--but there's such a delay between application and award that it wears down my already limited supply of patience. For this one, the initial letter of interest went out in December, we were invited to apply in February, the meeting with the funder was in April, notification in June, and we'll receive the funding in August. Eight months from initial contact to award! Actually, pretty typical of foundations. Even the feds work slightly faster than foundations--will hopefully hear this week on a federal grant we submitted in February (and submitted two requested revisions in April and May).
Hope everyone has a lovely week,
Love y'all,

@Machka9 sounds like you got the short end of the stick in terms of bell curve use. but that it won't have an impact on your employment, but that can be frustrating and possibly demotivating if you put in all the work.0

@TerriRichardson112 Terri, I am from Boston area. someone from there told me that there's a saying or he describe their clothes philosophy as "keep it till it's good and worn and then do without". LOL. i had probably less than average amount of clothes for a woman from North America or Western Europe or Australia etc, but still much more than enough, and most annoyingly, a few almost never worn items (that are not just special event items). I have hardly been buying clothes these past years and am wearing things out. What I have too many off is pairs of socks. But if I dont buy any (other than needed for color, etc reasons) for 5 years, I'll be able to hone it down.i have a lot of striped and polka dotted long knee socks and also many black pairs for more serious times, both cotton and wool for the black ones.3

@wizzywig Viv, I'm so sorry to hear that about your dad. all my condolences to you and your family.0

It means if I'm going to have a chance of finishing a course with an HD (80-100%) - "honours distinction", I need to work my butt off during the course and get a high HD (90-100%) so that I've got a little bit of room when my exam mark is lower. Sometimes I can do it ... sometimes not.
The motivating factor is the end result - Master's degree. In my line of work, if I want a chance of going up a band level or two or three, the more education the better. And other factors as well, but education is an important element.
My hope is to move up into a much better pay scale (band level) and then go to 4 days a week instead of 5. But we'll see. Could be just a dream.

Lisa Thank you! I am in awe of your ability to go with the flow while maintaining discipline for writing, work tasks, etc. You, in my mind, are like the pioneers who were made of incredibly tough stuff, had amazing survival instincts, were multitaskers extraordinaire, and were fiercely loyal to their families.
Machka I've been reading with interest your comments on school & exams. I had one professor who waited until midterms to inform us that our exams would not be based on what was covered in the class. He said he assumed we understood that material, so testing should be on the material he wasn't able to cover in lectures or the syllabus. What material? He couldn't tell us. So we found several years of his old exams in the library, fortunately, and distributed them to the class. I think he was a bit puzzled at how well the class did. He was the only professor who tested on NO material covered in class.
My grandson's language arts teacher told her class at the beginning of the year that she would not coordinate live classroom material with the online curriculum. She taught strictly to SOL preparation in classroom and never mentioned the online curriculum at all. You could email her or go to virtual office hours if you had questions, though, and she was responsive.

Look what just arrived from Amazon. Wanted bling trainers for the funeral. Ros would have loved them.

Michelle NC (darn spell check always adding another L in your name). - We go by the nap on the app but find a empty spot if theirs a crushed one left we take it. Our stores are hit by smaller Hill Country towns some without stores plus our own folks. We get pretty picked over especially if theirs a tornado warning to worse! One time hubby went their was no canned foods! He got on the floor grabbed the ones that had rolled under shelves checked the date tossed them in dents y dust lol. Other times they just have a blank spot cause it’s a great item everyone wants it especially since we’re a military town their watching calories too for weigh ins.
Athena such a cute baby girl!
Heather- loving those shoes!!! So cute!
Amber Tx1 -
@bananasandoranges I bought some new socks as most of my old ones are quite scruffy. Still debating on whether to toss the old ones. What are we like?
Heather: Ooo! Nice! Those are class! Love a bit of bling!
Amber: Thise Siobhan videos cracked me up. She reminds me of Victoria Wood (Sadly, no longer with us).
https://youtu.be/fFI5Jl_IqsE
Rebecca: You look so happy! And Athena Rose is adorable.
Had breakfast then made soup for lunch before getting a couple of hours in the garden, before my energy began to flag. It needs so much work, and neither of us has been up to it much recently. (Knee problems for us both and my elbow/shoulder!). I will do another hour or two trimming my topiary this afternoon.

That reminded me ... I had one a couple years ago who told us what the questions on the exam could be: it will likely be 5 of these 20 choices (or something like that). Great! Except we wouldn't know which 5 until the day of the exam AND all 20 required us to research and basically write a small paper for each (for ourselves). Then we would hopefully remember what we had researched and written when we got into the exam ... and not mix it up with any other question. It was a lot of work!!

Just to let you know, my lovely dad passed away on Wednesday 5th June.
He went downhill from his fall last week. It was a peaceful end, which is helping, it was his time, and we feel lucky we had the extra months with him since he left hospital. In his own words, he had a good innings.
It's not really sunk in yet, lots to do with supporting mum with funeral arrangements etc.

Viv, I am so sorry about your dad0

It has taken me an hour to read through the pages I missed since last evening. I am sure that there are many I would like to reply to...didn't think to write notes until page 31.
Rebecca ~ I just smiled and smiled as I saw you holding that sleeping beauty.
Kay ~ Love your glasses and hairdo. You look so pretty.
Margaret ~ So glad your son is getting back on his feet.
Viv ~ So sorry about your dad. You have been so good about helping your parents during this tough time. Prayers for you all.
Beth ~ Hope your husband does not have Lyme disease. Our Fancy (Mary) has been through that and it was tough.
Karen in VA ~ Bailey is a cutie.
Allie ~ I know how scared you must feel about the work situation. There is a right time for everything and I think that is what you are feeling. We are all hoping/praying that your work situation will be improved soon.
Pip ~ Good thoughts for Winkie! Our pets are our children.
Heather ~ Those shoes are indeed way out!
Both my knees and lower back are WONKIE since meeting with that trainer last Friday. I think that was the worst thing I should have done. Learned my lesson.
Carol in GA8 -
Beth- I went to a homeopathic doctor for my Lymes disease. I had chronic Lyme’s disease. I had it since 2014. I finally got rid of it last year. He did electro acupuncture. No needles! Just electrodes and A tool that deptected the different bacterium through my body from my knuckles. This is a technique that has been used in Germany for decades! People come from all over the world to see my doctor for treatment of Lymes disease.
Kettlebell Workout
Goblet squat-2X5X40, 1X5X45
Russian kettle bell swing-12X7X40, 4X7X45
This is definitely a challenging work out! The 45 pound kettle bell is extremely heavy! I can’t believe that 5 pounds makes that big of difference!!

Grandma holding granddaughter always beautiful!
Viv never easy losing a parent. Love the perspective of "good innings." I am glad you had quality time with him before his passing. My sister had a rough end and many things did not get to be said. I did hear say she loved me in one of my last phone calls which I returned. So the most important thing got said.I sensed she did not want me there at the end. I did many extra trips to St. Louis during that period. As much for her as to support my mom. My dad past 7 months before, so it was a very hard period in our family.

Happy Monday Ladies!
I had a nice long epistle ready to post then IE decided to seize up and save you all, lol. Quick and dirty version:
Heather - love your sneakers and how exciting about Elton John. I could relate to the Imposter Syndrome! Jessamy is right, it's more common than we think.
Katiebug - cute glasses and love the haircut!
Allie - I agree good decision to stick where you are close to people who love and support you and keep looking. Good idea participating in a telephone interview if they'll go for it - mainly to get the practice. I'm also curious why they are have expanded their hiring/interview pool to candidates who live hundreds of miles away. Do they already have someone in mind for the job (one of the doc's DIL) but need to prove they've interviewed qualified people over 40? Or the local folks have turned them down? Most likely, there really isn't anyone with your skills and great work history in the application pool and they know you'd be a loyal and hardworking employee.
Barbara AHMOD - loved the group photo! Fun on the beach. I am totally jealous of your long dark hair. I brought up my foot pain/orthotics as part of the balance problem. She prescribed gabapentin for when my feet burn at night and agreed with the podiatrist about rocker-sole shoes.
Kate - you gave me an idea. I am balancing for 5 seconds on each foot, barefoot on carpeting, and working up five seconds at a time like a workout. I found it's much easier to balance for a longer time with shoes on and cross my lifted foot/leg over the one I'm balancing on. Is this cheating?
Kim - sorry about the family stuff at your nephew's graduation. Has your brother rallied at all? And sorry about the $$ hit to your business. I am amazed at the prices of just everything, I'm not sure if it's due to tariff's or increased taxes on fuel, increased employee taxes in our state due to minimum wage hikes, who knows. And there are shifty corporations who made bad business decisions and hike prices to cover their losses, blaming tariffs, taxes, etc. because it's convenient. I'm crossing fingers you'll find a club/organization with lots of bucks who won't mind paying higher prices for your excellent work! So many changes for you.
Pip - sorry about Bullwinkle. You and Kirby gave her a wonderful life!
Beth - glad you DH going to the doctor. If it's Lyme I hope they can get it on the run quickly.
Viv - sorry to hear about your dad. So glad you live close to your folks, your mom's life will have major changes. How long had your folks been married?
Rebecca - just adorable. Thank you for sharing.
I am not done but better hit the post reply button before this one goes sideways.
Have a good day ladies!
Lanette

Viv UK: Sorry to hear your dad passed away. May he rest in peace. You were a blessing to him, I am sure.
Karen in VA & Pip: Old dogs are treasures. Our dog is 11 and has some health issues with his hip. We are giving him cbd oil and it is helping. We bought the cbd oil at a local pet shop, and it usually gets the job done. We also have pain pills from the vet. We use them only if the cbd oil isn’t enough. :flowerforyou:
Heather: Your bling trainers are stunning. I hope Ros can see them from heaven.
Mary: I’m glad your doctor was able to cure your Lyme disease. I was so worried about you back when it happened because DH’s cousin had contracted it while hunting deer years ago and eventually died from it.
Rebecca: I am so happy that you got to hold your granddaughter.
I had a long post written and was called away to help DH with something and didn’t get back to it. I decided to delete the unsent message. I had a doctor’s appointment last week and the numbers on the scale were big numbers that I didn’t like. My knees have been bothering me, a sure sign that I need to lose weight. I’m working on getting the excess weight off now. I had a 2 pound loss this morning. That still leaves me much higher than my comfort zone weight. I’ll keep working on it.
