WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR JUNE 2019

Just to let you know, my lovely dad passed away on Wednesday 5th June.
He went downhill from his fall last week. It was a peaceful end, which is helping, it was his time, and we feel lucky we had the extra months with him since he left hospital. In his own words, he had a good innings.
It's not really sunk in yet, lots to do with supporting mum with funeral arrangements etc.

Very sorry to hear this but glad it was peaceful.4 -

So I will do my best today at being joyful in all situations...
One of my happiness commandments is "Act the way I want to feel" and another is "Cultivate an attitude of gratitude". Both have served me well.7 -

Viv- May God bless you Sing his soul to Heaven with might. Never be sad for them going for they have a better place to go will wait for you there.Do not cry for moments lost, but happy tears for the times you had. When he looks down let him see you dance with the passions he taught so he can enjoy the show. For the Drums are calling him home to join ones gone long long ago.
Terri- That’s who I was thinking of but the name was tip of my tongue 👅 couldn’t remember for nothing! She even looks a lot like Mrs.Wood! I thought at first Carol then said no not her. Just couldn’t put my finger on it.

Viv, I’m very sorry about your dad. I know the time is coming with mine, and it makes me so sad.
Rebecca, you look beautiful holding Athena Rose - like you are right where you’re supposed to be.
Thanks for all the compliments. I have been working on mastering the angle of the selfie for maximum skinniness. Lol! It can be quite deceiving.
I’ll be sporadic this week. The annual conference for my denomination is this week and I am a lay member at large. It’s a voting year, so the politics has a tendency to get out if hand. If you’re the praying type, prayers for my sanity would be appreciated. I love it, but then again..... bless our hearts!
Bananas, one day, when I have time, I’m going to tell you my dissertation woes. Hang in there!

Hello, it looks like I found my group, although I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place. I'm 50, about to turn 51 in 10 days, and what the heck with it being so much harder with each decade that goes by?? I've never been obese or all that skinny. Just in between. But over the winter it was dark and bleak, and I didn't do a thing and ate whatever. I don't know how much I gained, but I would like to be down to 135 - almost 15 lbs. I'm biking and exercising a lot. Not doing great on 1300 calories but then my therapist who also treats eating disorders says that is often not realistic. And what with the belly fat that just won't go away?? <insert scream> --Laurie in Oklahoma6

Son sleeping now after two big pieces of pizza. He is 6 foot and now down to 160. He lost 20 pounds from this whole ordeal. Not the way to lose weight.
I am sitting here catching up on e-mails and listening to Deep Healing Music. I do believe it is helping me and my son through this ordeal. DH is coming this afternoon and I will head to the dentist for routine appointment. I cancelled some things last week, but now that we are in a routine I think it important I keep appointments that keep me healthy.

Made myself go back to the gym today and asked for help on using the machines. A young man was really nice and showed me how to adjust the bike seat to fit my size and gave helpful information. I was only able to ride it for 10 minutes and I was totally exhausted. (That's how out of shape I am ) He gave me suggestions on how to go about changing what I was doing as I got used to exercising. Also suggested that I participate in the Silver Sneakers class and the yoga class. Made me feel a lot better about the whole experience!

@1948Peachy I imagine you can increase your time progressively if you want to on the machines.1

@TerriRichardson112 what color socks did you get? I toss them if they have holes or are too stretched out and fall down or reeeeeally faded.
@Machka9 if they can't ask for grades but they get with jonors or not, there is some similarity to getting grades. I hope it works out for you to get better pay.
@KetoneKaren weird professor how did that work out with the online and classroom connection in your son's class?
@drkatiebug ok ! thanks!
@KABDogMom, welcome? I maintain at 1300 and need to have less (nette !) to lose. but if I get more exercise I can eat a bit more. I basically find it unfairly low, but my metabolism doesn't seem to give a hoot about what I consider fair.3 -

So Glad Carol sounds like you got the young man who cares about people y his job this time. The yoga classes are a great new add to SS that wasn’t offered at many locations before. The classes all wonderful so many. 10min on the bike normal for new beginners same with on treadmills. After going a few months you’ll be up to an hour on them easily.

Thank you--that was a lovely thing to say, and compliments from someone I respect so highly are deeply touching.

(See Mama? I've learned to say thank you instead of deflecting the compliment! Only took me nearly 60 years. )8 -
Went to go see white water lilies after going to dentist today. The whole pond at our Nature Center fills with them in June. I have taken pictures in previous years, so this year I just went and enjoyed them. I do have one tooth that may down the road need some work. Good for now!

Well thought hubby bought Chilly cow ice cream but it was Skinny Cow. Tastes great 100calories there was nothing less calories so guess the other 2 were sold out. I’m partial to this skinny cow now it’s good doesn’t use chocolate alcohol (I’m allergic to wine/alcohol)

Viv: My sympathy on the loss of your dad. Hugs to you and your Mum.
Katiebug and Fanncy Mary: Hubba-hubba. Ladies you look great. Keep it up.
I send healing thoughts to all of your doggies with pain and ailments. When our pets hurt, we hurt.
We returned yesterday from celebrating DH's birthday in Portland. It was fun, festive, and very social for me. Eight different friends came to the hotel where we were staying to visit and share a meal at the lovely new Mother's Bistro, which was attached to our hotel. I tried to rest my ankles and minimize calories, but failed on both fronts. The Rose Festival was happening all around us. Parade, Fleet Week, and flower exhibitions all around us. Our friends Margie and Steve picked us up and took us back to their house for a birthday dinner for DH and Steve, our Gemini-hubbies. Here is a photo of us holding the cake with a big 75 candle for DH to make a wish on. He was in pretty good spirits for most of the weekend, but did have a small meltdown from meeting so many people.
We also visited the famous Portland Rose Gardens, which were in full bloom. I don't see many roses in Colorado, so I was dazzled by them all.
Before leaving, I saw the orthopedist, and 'graduated' to the smaller walking boot. Also was given a set of rehab exercises. He was very happy with the progress of the healing. We will take more xrays in about 4 weeks. Yay!
