barbie funny how just thinking positive can make all the difference. I am losing my classroom (again) and moved my teaching gear down to the basement yesterday whistling all the way. My principle noticed and remarked, “you seem happy about this” I said, since there is no better alternative why should I moan and groan about it, it wouldn’t improve the situation, he seemed dumbfounded by the remark and said he wished more people thought like that in the building!

NY Karen ~ I used to hate the constant changing of classrooms. During my 30 yrs, I got moved at least 13 times. Hated the trailers.
Barbie ~ Very inspiring to find happiness where you are at at this time in life.
Carol in GA2 -
Barbie - I too have never been happier just exactly where I am. Our move to Hove was the best thing ever. Running along the prom is supreme happiness to me. And I feel among my 'tribe'.
It's also the happiest time of my life.

Barbie from NW WA, my feeling is that if folks take the time, they find most of us are delightful to talk to. I'm careful not to offer a recitation on that day's particular aches and pains, and not to offer advice unless I am asked or have a strong sense they want like them dancing all around a problem without quite coming out with it. And I am tastefully naughty from time to time.
Peachy1948 (sorry, your name has run off!), /b]thanks for the broccoli tip! I may try that with mixed broccoli and cauliflower. They should cook about the same!
Evelyn, I believe it's the first time I've heard Vancouver Island and gratitude for air conditioning mentioned in the same post.
Michele in NC, your pool area is stunning! That shows a terrific amount of thought and planning. I'm particularly in love with the flamingos!
Kim from N CA, There are units at Costco and other places that are heat exchangers. They have two tubes that go in a frame that fits in a window or door either vertically or horizontally, and they can air condition, heat, dehumidify and act as a fan. They cost a few hundred, but I suspect that Lowes and Home Depot carry them as well, and someone there could advise you as to whether they would work with your electrical system. Mine just plugs into a regular 110v outlet.
Beth, Im so sorry to hear of more possible health woes for you. It wasn't until I got my hearing aids that I realized how much I also was missing the background emotional cues - a sudden intake of breath, a sigh, a Catholic in the voice. I have only moderate loss. I hope the journey back to vocal cues is successful for you and that your rash turns out to be something easily treatable.
I am athe first wedding day for a grandchild today. My DGD Elissa is marrying her love Dakota. She is 25 and they are well grounded. They both have careers and are ready for the next step in their lives. All of my children and grandchildren, who haven't seen me since February, have expressed delight and surprise at my weight loss since then, which is 40 lbs. I feel wonderful, and am hoping to get some lovely pictures today!

My happy place is with my cats.. anywhere in my house (or on the porch or "catio" in the back). My other happy place is my car. I have always loved road trips and my car is almost like a second home. I haven't been able to road trip in 3 years due to health issues, and now am having issues driving because of eye problems... I have to let my partner drive almost everywhere now and it's a little sad; but I still enjoy getting in the car and driving around.
Today we drove to town and did some shopping/errands and went to lunch at this local Indian food restaurant (that is AMAZING and we're so lucky because we're nowhere near a city so anything other than Canadian/American food is hard to come by!). It was a nice date.
Hope you're all having a great weekend.

Hi Ladies,
My happy place at my favorite time of day.
Cathy in Arlington, TX10 -
Happy Birthday Rebecca. I hope your day was filled with good things!

Did Jari Love’s Extremely Ripped DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to ride the recumbent bike.
Rebecca – enjoy your Athena time! Happy Birthday
Barbara – Savannah Sipping Society is about 4 women who meet at this yoga studio. They were all complaining. Things like “I thought hot yoga meant there were hot guys in the class”. The write up says: In this delightful comedy, four unique Southern women, all needing to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, are drawn together by Fate--and an impromptu happy hour--and decide it's high time to reclaim the enthusiasm for life they've lost thru the years. One woman’s husband cheated on her and they subsequently divorced. He calls her and she thinks he’s calling on Valentine’s Day to apologize for hurting her. Instead, he meets her to ask for $10,000 and to tell her they’re expecting a baby. One line that I felt was really funny, she was dancing around she was happy for them and said “by the time the baby is getting out of diapers, he’ll just be getting into them. Oh yea!!”
Debbie VA – what kind of work do you do outside?
Lisa – I agree with you about computers sensing fear. I swear, there are times when sometime doesn’t go right for me and I worry if I’ve lose something or really messed up. Then Vince will work on it and in no time it’s fixed. Sometimes he’ll do exactly what I did and the computer will cooperate. I’m fearful, he’s not. When Vince is sick, you would think the world was coming to an end. And he knows the right thing to do all the time. However, the other day he was commenting to me that maybe he should exercise so his back doesn’t give out as often. I told him he’d need to exercise not only his back but also his abs. Of course, he hasn’t done anything about that
Workout – one of the things that makes me laugh about the DVD’s is that they always have these (or so it seems) young gals. Of course they can do much more than I can! I could do what they are doing when I was their age. It’s also somewhat frustrating when a modification is referred to as for “beginners”. I’m no beginner, but there are just certain things that I can’t or won’t do. So I just let it roll off my shoulders
My happy place is in the pool listening to the water fall. Bet you could never guess that in a million years, huh?
Cut the grass and then went in the pool. Church tonight then I think I’ll make these mini-meatloaves for us to have during the week. Also made the salmon cakes and have them in the refrig firming up so I can fry them tomorrow
Cathy in TX – cute sign
Hot flash coming on…better go get a pop

Had a small pity party today. Don’t have them often. Was having a very productive day, getting stuff done. Went to basement to clean litterboxes, discovered one of the cats had urinated in corner of bathroom (away from the box). Started cleaning up, mopping floor, decided to wash boxes out completely in case there was some smell bothering one of them. Came upstairs to use the shower (since it was raining out, wasn’t going to drag out hose). Tried to turn off main shower head and use hand held, got it messed up, loosened up the whole thing. Got really frustrated, before I knew it was yelling at husband because he should be here to help me with this stuff. Mad at my kids for leaving me with their cats. Stomped around for a bit feeling sorry for myself. Decided that wasn’t getting me anywhere, went back to bathroom and fixed the shower head (like I did when my husband was alive) got everything clean. At least I hadn’t cleaned the shower yet today. Just strange how the stuff comes back out of nowhere.
On a more positive note, I calmed down, got basement cleaned up and litter boxes set back up, shut the bathroom door so they can’t use that room again. Bathroom is sparkling clean. Worked on some meal prep. While weighing some grapes to put in snack bags, I really started feeling more peaceful—it reminded me I am in control of me and am moving forward. May sound strange, but that worked as well as meditation.
Got everything cleaned up. Had a good dinner. Got enough exercise to have a no sugar added Klondike bar for snack. Ending day on a good note.
Thanks for listening to my whine. It’s the dumb stuff that gets us sometimes.

Heather: I hope all woks out well, :flowerforyou:
Rebecca: Happy Birthday! You are wonderful.
My horse friends had a work party at a county park today. I went, too. We were working on grooming overgrown trails. I took my rake and helped groom the trails. I don’t have lawn mowers and such, but the trusty rake was a good tool.

Rebecca: Happy birthday. I hope Athena gives you lots of cuddles and smiles.
Barbie: Happy dance on hearing about Jake's improvement.
Heather: It's been my experience that the fresh pounds come off easy once you get intentional about it. You got this.
Katla: Bravo to you for helping with the trails.
My happy place from Memorial Day to Labor Day - the pool at our condo. I've been getting out there almost every morning for about an hour of water exercise.
Temps will be in the mid to high 70's all this week. Perfect!

I started reading with 200 posts to read! Wow! I’m on page 47, hope to catch up tomorrow!
I have been so busy today. No plan to clean, but ended up scrubbing pollen off the patio chairs on the front porch and windows.
All 5 windows then hosed down the house real good and scrubbed the siding to get the moss starting to grow. I worked out there for over an hour and the humidity moved back in too. It was hot!
I had to take another shower after that!
Antidepressants I’ve been taking them since 2008. My DSIL was murdered by her ex, and I just started a new job. I fell into s hole and could not get out. Like sitting in an old broke down chair and you can’t get out. It just hit me so I went to the dr the very next day. It took more than a week to really even me out but if I miss a day I can feel it.
Rebecca. I know it’s worrisome about your DS. But she’s the only one who can change her life. My boyfriend some 25 years ago passed away from cirrhosis. We lived together and I loved him very much. He was a great guy but he just couldn’t stop drinking. He’s drink was vodka. After he passed we found over 50 empty big jugs of vodka. ( size? With a handle) I was shocked. I knew he drank but to that degree. He did a good job hiding it. The hard part was when he had grand mal seizures then finally into a hospital watching him experience hallucinations, to the point where he spit water at me explaining there were ants crawling on me. After that it was a matter of months before he passed.
Heather Your friend Ros looked like a happy joyful woman. I’m sure you are grateful to know her! Your picture is great with your blingy shoes!
Welcome to the Newcomers!
Almost 11 pm. Church tomorrow, so I better go on to bed. DH is already in there reminding of church! I’m a night owl and just hate going to bed before midnight!
It was fantastic that the hiker from Ft Worth who got lost for a week near Mena Arkansas was found safe! It’s pretty rugged down there and thick thick woods; part of the Ouachita Ntl Forest. Snakes, cats and black bears to boot! It’s about 90 miles W/SW of Hot Springs.

My happy place - any place with music!! Our choir master is a fantastic organist/pianist, and I love to listen to him play. He sends me videos when he knows I’m stressed.
I had a super night out with my mom. My mom had a mild stroke on Valentine’s Day. She’s done really well, but her physical therapist thought she might do better if she tried a cane. We got the cane today. She did so awesome. Her neighborhood park has a half mile track with benches at intervals all the way around it. She made the half mile only stopping once! It was a slow half mile but so much progress. I walked a fast lap while she rested. I’m so pleased with how well she did!

Dana, I am so sorry about your past boyfriend's passing. I might tell my sister some hard facts when I am safe in Whidbey island. Things she might not wish to come to terms with. Like the fact that I will not let her stay in my home if she's still drinking. She wants to visit, but its my home, and until she's sober, its a pass on her visiting. I will also tell her I was shocked to see all her empty bottles! The fact that the two nights I stayed with her, one of those nights she chose to go to her neighborhood bar instead of hanging with me, pretty much says it all. I kind of tested her and I knew she would choose the bar over me. Alcoholism doesn't share well. Its one or the other.
My son and daughter in law created a new kitchen table top, because their old round table was taking up too much room in their kitchen. Picasso would be so proud of them!
Pretty huh! They poured paints on it while it was on its side. Then put a sealer on it.
Had a wonderful birthday! Son made great hamburgers, I got a lot of cuddle time in with Athena, even singing to her! I told son I want to be a grandma Athena runs to!
I saw my sister and how she interacts with her 3 grandkids, ( 2, 5 and 9). When we came from her neighborhood bar one night, she motioned me to walk to the side door. So instead of walking thru the front door of her own home, interact with her daughter, and grandkids, she avoids them. It felt weird, wrong, and I am not doing it again. What kind of signal is that sending to those grandkids?
I think I am still processing my visit with my sister.
💖Rebecca
Thank you all for my birthday wishes! I love you!

Dana – Someone on here suggested this stuff called Wet & Forget. It really is fantastic on moss, mold and mildew. You spray it on and with the rain, the mold, etc. keeps away. If you want something that works asap, Lowes Hardware sells this stuff. I forget the name of it. But you spray it on and in something like 30 seconds the mold, etc washes off. I know it has bleach in it. I tell you, our windows haven’t been washed in 12 years. I did it for the first time this year. Honestly, the windows were so bad that I think it’ll take 2 or 3 years of doing this once/year for them to get decently cleaned. But at least now they are SOMEWHAT clean.
Rebecca – alcoholism is really hurting your sister and her family. So sad

Rebecca - So glad you had a lovely birthday. I'm sure Athena will be charging towards you with a great big smile on her face. The table top is fabulous, love the colours! One of those on canvas would make great wall art. Could even sell them.
So sorry about your sister. It is a difficult situation and you are bound to dwell on it. Unfortunately she won't take criticism of her lifestyle lightly. Denial is a strong thing. You are right to set out boundaries for yourself though about not having her in your house while she is drinking. And you don't have to ever stay with her again. (((HUGS))) for you. If we are loving people our urge to help those we love is strong, but they can only ever help themselves, when the time is right for them. You have so much happy stuff to focus on.
Nothing planned for today. If the weather is better (it rained all day yesterday) we might head back down for the jazz festival. Or I might have a run. Or run to the jazz festival?

My DGD and her brand new spouse about an hour after the ceremony. The weather was almost as lovely as the bride and groom.
Goodnight all! I'm pooped.
