Heather - simply gorgeous tree. Thank you for posting this photo! Like you, I remember elms in my parents and grandparents wooded areas when I was a kid. Long gone now....

Would be neat if there are some left in the world with natural immunity to this disease that could be cloned. I'm sure botantists are looking for them.

decent day. I took care of some important things. it's great to not have major deadline for a few days. phew. it's very hot here. 87° at 8pm. High was supposed to have been 91. Tomorrow 94, Wed 99, Thurs 97, Fri 94, then 86, 81.

    now it's about 86 inside

It gets cooler late at night just before morning, goes down to about 70. I closed the window and shades all day, and will open up when it gets cooler outside than inside, maybe at about 10pm.

AC is unusual in homes in most of France. I lived in the south in an old stone house and you just shut the shutters all day, and the open up at night til some time in the morning and then shut again all day.

I have a few old flimsy summer dresses that I hardly wear-too flimsy for work. they are almost all WAY too tight. that is a real reality check. I don't know when I've last had that experience. reality check

Heather It's only right. That poor shopwoman was bedazzled, but must make it right for your husband.

Heather and Lanette My childhood home in Nebraska had a yard full of beautiful stately elms which provided the most lovely shade in the summertime. By the 1980's they were all gone. Canadian and US scientists have successfully cloned trees resistant to Dutch Elm disease from trees that survived the epidemic. There are 3 or 4 commercially available cultivars. One of them is an American Elm cultivar named 'Valley Forge'. I don't remember the others, but they all have patriotic names.

Karen in VA - thank you for that info!!! I don't know if they do well out here in the Pacific NW but I will check. Of course I'd be 90 by the time they are stately, lol.

The above picture of me was at around my highest weight - 262.2 lbs. It has been made worse because arthritis and 8 fused discs have shrunk me from 5'8" to 5'5".

    Rori -

scary with hubby! Thank you for the offer... between you and Lisa - I have access to the Goddesses of grant writing!!! I need to get to 20 hours for 403, 30 for insurance (or maybe its the other way around) but either way I don't want more than 10-15... I love my business and make more working for myself than for them.

Amber- scary for your DH. We had high winds and lightening last night. Fourth weekend in a row with bad weather. Ugh
Meg- so happy to see your post. Take care of you my friend.
Played bridge all afternoon so I am tired of sitting. Too hot and humid to walk outside.
    Better get dinner ready.

Lisa - I don’t see ultrasound pictures well either. You’ll be great when the baby is really here! I am tired of the wet and cold here too, it’s supposed to rain everyday this week.

Heather -glad your hubby is getting the hat.

Gorgeous day on tap. Will garden and visit MIL today. Deep breath the end of the school year is imminent :D

Doc says I have to lower my cholesterol :( so no more whole milk yogurt for me :'( I will take a break from yogurt for a while before I experiment with lower fat or even soy substitutes.

Rita - what's your daily carb target? Do you still have your daily food diary open so we can see what/how you are eating?

My carb goal right now is 38 grams for the day. Being that I’m close to my goal, I keep carbs at 10% or less of calories. I do have my log open. Feel free to take a look!

:) I'll be going to bed any minute so I can get up extra early to walk the dogs so we can leave the house before 6 AM to go to Seattle for Jake to see the cardiologist, have an echo-cardiogram and have his pacemaker checked. Any event that includes a ferry ride is a good event. I'll report tomorrow about what the doctor says.

Connie that is why I bought the house to rent to our son. Rents are out of sight here in the Twin Cities. If they sell the home where can they find a cheaper place to live? I am on your page.
