lhscalpil question "Do you think they know she's in failing health"
do i think the other kids know that something is up with her? i don't think so by the way they act around her.
Do i think she knows she's dying? well, in the beginning when i first noticed her panting and pacing back/forth, yes, she knew something was wrong and she was hurting and that was how she was trying to tell me. now that she's been on steroids, it's like she's back to her old self, nothing is up, no panting, pacing back/forth, great appetite, i still am sleeping with her downstairs, she doesn't go upstairs with us anymore and that's ok. i leave the back door open if she wants to go poop/pee. after she stops the steroids, she will probably go back to hurting, panting and loose her appetite again, i will know when it's time to let her go.9 -

JR relaxing today me too weather still nasty looking. Tried the chipotle ranch zero calories dressing tastes great 👍 in my opinion it’s vinegar based so tastes like chipotle ranch y Italian dressing mixed together.I liked it feels good to know my calories are only the veggies 🍅. If I want more dressing still zero! Going to try the barbecue sauce later its also vinegar based which means it tastes like the old fashion kind from childhood before people started marketing y adding tons of sugars. I also have ranch dressing flavor but haven’t tried it yet going to finish the chipotle first.

Dh gone to help our ‘adopted’ son the park supervisor, install a new kitchen counter top and free standing tub. I’m taking time for me with him gone. Catching up with you ladies is my #1 me time! Lol.
Discovered a mix to replace the magnesium supplements I found caused much of my digestive issues. I mix pumpkin seed kernels, cashews, almonds, cacao nibs (sugar free dark chocolate bits). I will add coconut bits next time. A handful in the evening replaces two magnesium supplements! This does not bother my tummy issues and more satisfying than the pills! A handful is about 250 calories so have to count that in but worth it to me. Looked up foods with magnesium and here’s the list. Just picked what I liked and made the mix:
Magnesium foods
Avocado
Swiss chard
Kale
Spinach
Cashews
Dark chocolate
Tuna
Flaxseed
Pumpkin seeds
Peas, chickpeas, soybeans
Tofu
Allergic to soy so limited there.

I'm over at my son"s house. Managed to cook the kids dinner. We ate outside. My son is going to cook us our adult dinner tonight. Kedgeree. Yum.
Last night's dancing was fun. We did two new moves. One was called the Doughnut.
Not doing well calorie wise, so I think we will walk home as well as having walked here. Need the burn.
Tomorrow DH is going to watch cricket at our local ground. His friend is coming down to join him. I will have to tidy up. He hasn't seen the house so will want a guided tour! Don't know if they want me to cook an evening meal or not.
Much love to all, Heather UK XXXXXX4 -

Paper mess
my landlady came by today and I had to clean and hide or consolidate paper mess.
talking to my colleagues we all seem to be in the same boat. we all seem to have piles that we never get to.
my landlady (seeing my piles) said everyone's in the same boat (in regards to paper piles). we were saying as teachers we plan to sort through stuff in the summer and plan all in advance but often don't get to it all, and also that overvplanning is not good- it's important to adapt to students and groups.
So : my home looks better.
Lease
I didn't have a lease and have been paying under the table for ....19 years!
So: now I have a lease for next 3 years.that's goo.
The place was getting really run down so I really fixed it up in around 2016 and painted walls and ceilings and sanded floors. I actually hired a professional painter friend to do the painting at a very low price and helped him, but did the sanding all by myself.
When landlady came by a year later, she saw how nice it looked and wanted to kick me out. she didn't know that even without lease it was as if we had one (legally I had found out a few years before). i had sms saying I was paying her rent and her saying ok, and how much plus withdrawing that amount every month and her calls and sms coming by to get rent. she's been dragging but finally I have a lease. here the usual leases are 3 years. ssince I've been here for so long the rent is very low, around half market price. (prices went way up after the euro.) landlady and her Dh are both doctors. doctors are not ultra rich here but 2 doctors will generally do well. she didn't want to pay taxes (around 50% income tax in upper bracket) which is why there was no lease to start. (her choice not mine). of course neither of us thought I would be there so long, but then it was cheap for me, and she didn't want to deal with it or have to bother fixing up (she was too busy with 2 then young kids).
my landlady is an MD but she has a drinking problem. she kept repeating the same thing 20 times in a kind of condescending argumentative way. but at the end she laughed when I said, "can you repeat that I didn't understand".
I have never mentioned her drinking problem as its not really my place to do so, I think.
we're on a friendly basis (mostly) but I feel like that's an untouchable zone for her. she must be a high-functioning alcholoic.
when she'd come by to pick up rent at 10 or 11 on a Saturday she'd smell like alcohol.
now her kids are 16 and she's thinking about an apartment for them. she brought the 16 year old girl saying she was "taking her shopping" but when I asked if she hadn't brought her to check out the apartment she changed the subject. not my problem.
I'm an owner (still paying off credit till 2025 and 2028 - so the rent pays for the credit) of 2 tiny studio apartments, and stayed a renter for this place since it worked out better. that will make me a tiny retirement bit since, as it stands, I'll have barely any retirement fund.
Thesis
my thesis director sent a mail saying I had "progressed" but there were some bits to redo.
I am very succinct (but polite and professional) with her now since she's been not ideal.
Union stuff
it seems like we made quite decent headway in union stuff but I'll wait for concrete confirmation.
so it's been a good 10 days in terms of concrete accomplishments.
I don't feel elated at all but I feel less ever-present underlying pressure.
I'm not really feeling in a joyful moment in life, but if things are calm and not stressful that is really not bad.
I can feel moments of joy, but it's not my dominant feeling at all these days. (years)
I feel like I'm so often nose to the grindstone, (economic necessity) so when I can lift my head up some, I feel like that is already not bad.
it's so hot this week- into the 90s.

Well I am up to page 64. Blessings, Vicki GI NE3 -
Well, the thumb is not broken, but I have severely strained the ligaments that allow it to move freely around and around and have also strained the ones in the joint below the thumbnail. He’s hoping to arrange a lighter brace than the Velcro one I’m wearing, which restricts too much other motion besides the thumb. Im also taking a 5 day course of Medrol. He said I really jammed it good, and there’s a lot of inflammation, and these ligaments take a looooong time to heal. I can hardly wait for the lighter brace. I can take it off to swim or bathe and it won’t be as hot as this one is.

Guess what we passed on our way home today. Do you know what they are?

Hi all. I fell asleep right after work yesterday, so no posting for me.
Wow, I had forgotten how much everyone writes here! I had a grand time reading all the posts since I was here 2 days ago and looking at the beautiful pictures.
I saw my therapist today who told me I had no idea how sick I was when I came to see her, and that today I was "glowing". For the first time that I can remember, I feel good and have energy. So now we are going to tackle weight loss. She prescribed a weight loss pill (phentermine I think) and in combination with the Wellbutrin I'm on, has a really good track record for safe weight loss. I'll get it tomorrow and start Friday morning; it can cause insomnia so she recommends taking it first thing in the morning. My sleep has been so awesome, I don't want to disrupt it! Thank you Melatonin!
So since I've had energy, I organized my shoe closet and counted my shoes...113 pairs! OMG. In my defense, that does include two pairs of garden shoes I had no idea. Everything was in one big pile on the floor and it was a lot of fun to find shoes I had forgotten about.
The knee is killing me today plus it's an iontophoresis day and that patch is itching like crazy. I'm using acetic acid (vinegar) which can dissolve bone chips. It hasn't itched before. Iontophoresis uses electricity to force medication through the skin into what ever part is being treated. I did steroid iontophoresis for 6 doses to get the inflammation down, and it was really helpful, but that's the max for a "treatment".
So while I was gone, I turned 60 and my co-workers threw me a big birthday party. It was really nice. It was for an entire afternoon and people just sort of came and went. Actually it wasn't nice, it was awesome.
I also had my A1C drawn on my birthday, 5.7%! So at least that part of my diet is good!
I suppose that is all the news that is news; take care and thanks for welcoming me back! Meg in stormy Omaha7 -

Lanette - Well done! Didn't think you USA folks would get it. I must say it was a surprise to see them in such an urban setting, near Hove station, but they were outside a microbrewery pub.
What fun!
I've been spending the rest of the evening sorting out with my DDIL times with the kids over the summer holidays and before. It's like a military operation! ! They are away in France on a house swap for two weeks plus time with the other grandparents, so it us tricky fitting things in. They need us just before and just after as well for extra minding.
Met the new 'housekeeper ' today. She seems lovely and from Thailand, Her main job is with a gay couple, dentists, but she has some free hours. It's almost a full time job keeping track of the kids' clothes and putting them in the right drawers. They seem to have so many clothes these days. Every time I visit the sheer volume of stuff and things to keep track of (hobbies, appointments etc) seems overwhelming. Like Machka, they need a full time organiser! Life was simpler in my day.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx4 -
Heather - MC Beaton (Marion Chesney) often has Morris Dancers in her Agatha Raison books. Seems they generally get quite drunk by the end of the event, brawling and fighting, lol. I'm sure she's exaggerating their behavior just for the sake of the story plots! Nice to see an actual photo of them. I wonder if they were sampling the brew?

This thread is so fast moving, and my head is spinning a little. I'm 51. I own a restaurant. I have dogs and cats. I'm kinda geeky. I like to read and color. I've lost like, 43 lbs, kinda accidentally in trying to improve my mood, but of course I'm rolling with it.
Anyone here doing anything with Law of Attraction?6 -
What’s law of attraction? Does that have something to do with a mans stomach?

Barbara: I ordered the Women’s Jockey String Bikini panties through Amazon because I couldn’t find them locally. I see they still have some in white. I found the Lee jeans that I love at Kohls.
Lanette: Thanks for your good wishes for our ability to get out of town and away from the fireworks. The RV is currently at the repair yard to fix the transmission fluid leak and other issues. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that it will be ready on time. We cleaned up the mess in the storage unit. The kitty litter we put down absorbed the fluid well and we scooped it all up. According to our garbage company, it is just fine to put it in a paper bag and then into our regular trash since the quantity is small.
Pip: I hope the honeymoon period for your beloved girl on steroids is a long and happy time.
Rita: It looks like you’ve done a great job replacing the magnesium with things that get the job done and don’t irritate your system. WTG!!!
Heather: You seem so happy in your new home. It took a lot of looking and waiting, but it seems perfect for you!
Sharon: I’m sorry you’re injured and it is likely to take time for you to heal properly. The good part is that it looks as though you will heal. Yay!
Meg in Omaha: Happy 60th, you sweet young thing. I am so happy to see you posting again. You have been missed!!!
The dog went to the groomer today. He seems a bit on the sore side. The CBD oil on dog cookies seems to keep him relatively comfortable and happy but today he also had a pain pill the vet has prescribed for him. Sometimes the CBD oil is enough and other times he needs the pain pill, too.

Just positive thoughts and believing you attract what you focus on and believe in. Dunno, kinda tinkering with it, but not sure how I feel. I mean, generally, that makes sense, but there are elements that might be, well, woo.

Katla: I hope the RV getaway gets DH psyched up to take it on the road to visit your kids.
MichelleMinn: I have had very good experience with the Law of Attraction. Well worth studying and internalizing.
Meg: Belated Happy 60th. Thrilled to hear you are getting your energy back.
Allie: Sending up prayers for your friend and her husband.
After about of week of research and dreaming, today I put a deposit down on remodel of our guest (actually DH's) shower/tub area. The fixtures in there are all original, cheap, circa 2003 Home Depot bottom shelf items, and although they have held up through hard use, it is just time for a change to a more modern look with a safer design. Once the bath remodeler pulls out the tub, and installs new shower, glass door, hand rail, etc. I'll get my handyman to do the sink, cabinet, walls, lighting and toilet. We are targeting August. Cross fingers all goes well.
Stay well friends. Don't let whatever undies you buy get in a bunch We can do this.
