morning ladies~
I am up watched joyce and had my tea,, now to get dressed and walk the dogs and feed DFIL and go to work..
So far no luck in finding anything.. but I hope to find something soon...When you dread going to work you know its time..
Everyone think good thoughts in me finding just the right niche..
Viv~ I remember doing all you had to do, but my mom went before my dad.. I still think of him everyday and have asked for there help in finding something...3 -
Allie - Thinking many good thoughts for you.
Viv - It's good to see you back, I know how exhausted you must be. Breathe and visit with us when you can.
Michele in NC - Maybe you should remind Vince of our saying we've adopted here, "Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good," or as I use it, "Done imperfectly is better than not done at all." I've let my own perfectionism ruin my satisfaction in a job well done over the years enough to know that when I let it go, both for myself and for anyone who is doing something I cannot, for whatever reason, I stay happier.
MichelleMinn - Welcome! As Barbie said - "It makes me happy when I read that one of you has reached for your spiritual resources to get through a challenge." Whatever path you choose to that inner sense of well-being is valid for you.
Camp day today - Headed through town this morning to pick up two of my co-workers and spend the day an hour south at one of our Girl Scout camps, helping out resident staff and learning ourselves about camp and what it means for the girls we serve. I'm a big fat dreader for anything that takes me out of my comfort zone, but always enjoy things like this once I'm in the middle of them. And at least I get to wear jeans and a T-shirt and comfy shoes. And possibly swim during "turtle time," when the girls take some downtime between 1 and 3 p.m.
Love y'all,

If it is something fairly minor, I can do a variety of thing in an evening.
But for me, things like my paperwork require focus and concentration. I'm so far behind ... I need to decide how I want to set up my filing system before I can actually do the filing.
Same with my uni projects and projects at work. I like to get into a work zone where lose track of time, forget to eat, etc. Today, for example, I didn't eat lunch till 3 pm.
BTW, I know about those miniature Paris studio apartments! I have a friend who works at one of the universities there. My husband and I stayed in her apartment for about a week in 2007, then with her boyfriend and her for several days in 2012.
Her 2007 apartment was one small room with the kitchen in a tiny alcove + a tiny bathroom.
Her 2012 apartment was two rooms + tiny bathroom + itty bitty balcony!!

Woke up "writing" about this, so I thought I'd put this out in front of y'all. After my mother's death 20 years ago next month, I likened myself to a four-legged table with only three legs left. I looked fine, and as long as you were at one of the strong corners, I dealt with pretty much everything OK. But a small amount of pressure on that one point where a leg was missing, and I would collapse in a heap of kindling. It took me five years to come out of that, to grow my own strength to the point where I could stand on my own, and in the end, led me to a life far better than the one I had before I lost her... in a happy marriage of equals, in a job I love, and here, with y'all, giving and receiving strength that, 20 years ago, I didn't even know I had.
What are (or were) your pressure points? What makes (or made) you fold? Where do you find the strength now to resist that pressure?
Answer or not, silently or here, your choice. No pressure! Just thoughts for an early morning. Time to jump in the shower!
Love y'all!

Good morning all! Happy Thursday!
Laws of attraction- I do believe that "like attracts like". Or if you prefer, what we send out in the world, comes back to us. I have always been a happy and optimistic person; but a few years ago after a few losses (sister, husbands job loss, daughter marrying and moving to TX) and an increase is debt, weight, and work load for myself I started to find myself angry and in "dark" moods. Barbie gave me the idea of starting a gratitude journal and it completely turned things around for me (within days). I still keep a gratitude journal and write in it (almost) daily. I go for five things a day that I am grateful for. Just usually one word. It really helps keep me balanced.
Heather- I had to look up Kedgeree and "dancersinwhitecostumeswithsticksandbells". I have never heard of Morris Dancers. So glad you were able to sit down with you DIL and plan time with the kids. Knowing when you will have the kids makes it so much easier, then those little things that pop up don't seem so overwhelming.
Amber- He is a busy little guy, isn't he? Did you say he is 2? When is his birthday? My little grandson lives in Texas (far away from me) and is 2 1/2. He is a handful, right now, as well.
Pip- I am just loving all of the pics of Bullwinkle throughout her life! Please keep sharing and know that I am continually sending you, Kirby and your fur babies love.
Meg- Hello! So nice to hear from you!
Beth- Hope you are reading and that you are well. I am thinking you may be getting adjusted to new hearing aids or getting ready for the cochlear implants? Sending you warm thoughts and hugs!
Rebecca- Cute little stained glass ornaments!
Watched my DYS, Colin, get up early this morning and head out for his first day on the job! Halleluiah! Honest to GOD! I hear a choir of angels singing. After being out of work for a few months I am doing the happy dance for him!
I got the paperwork and fee submitted for the zoning for changing my family daycare home (6 kids max) to a group daycare home (12 kids max). Now, I just have to wait to hear when I have to go before the board...It would be wonderful to be able to begin taking more kids when school starts; but I am planning for this to not happen until January. We will see!
I saw in the news this morning, that Madonna has a new video out. She is one of those polarizing celebrities. Either you love her or hate her. I have been a fan since she first arrived on the music scene when I was a teen. Just have to say, I am so glad that she is standing up against, and shining a light on, gun violence. Wherever you stand on the issue, (and my intention here is non-political), something needs to be done about this in the U.S.. And quickly.
My exercise chart is going well, so far. Almost a full week of having it! lol I DO enjoy crossing things off a list! lol Well, kids are arriving. Learning about lungs and exercise, today! Strength and love to those who need it! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Lisa in AR- My father was an abusive alcoholic and cheated on our mother. He left when we were little, ended up committing suicide. My mother started going out and having fun, like we didn’t exist.I went to her when I had been assaulted as a child and she said don’t tell anyone, you’ll ruin the family.I was bullied at school forever, for a variety of reasons. So being bullied even as an adult,is my pressure point.Knowing that I’m a good person and have a wonderful hubby to come home to,is what gets me through. And my faith in God.

Pip-I’m sorry about your puppy. We lost our last shepherd a while back and I still miss him.He was my guardian.

kelly you always inspire me to flip the script!
Shannon I love your exercise trigger to get some cool air first, then exercise —such a smart idea.
There’s a scene from Apollo 13 that is my absolute favorite, when all the scientists are listing everything that is failing on the module and Ed Harris’ character says, “What do we have that’s good on the ship?” I love that quote and I love the reaction of the scientist, he stops dead in his tracks and says “let me get back to you on that”. Sometimes I have to be Ed Harris in my own head!!!!!
Love checking in with you all!!

Lanette - I'm sure they supped a few beers! But I'm not betting on violence. They were mostly over 70! I've seen Morris Dancers many times, but the urban environment made it unusual. You usually come across them in country villages.
KJ - Kedgeree is a rare treat, because of all the rice, but it is delicious. We had it with chicory salad. Lovely to be cooked for! I was fine on calories in the end. I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow to see if I've lost another pound.
DH is out at the cricket locally with his friend. I had to give the house a very quick spruce up as I took him on a guided tour.
I used some time this morning to cook some healthy rice mixture in the IP. I had 300 calories for lunch and will freeze the rest in 400 cal batches as a base for salads.
It was 1 cup brown rice, 1 cup brown lentils, 1 cup quinoa. Three cups water. 22 mins high pressure, 10 mins natural release.
I calculate roughly that one ounce cooked mixture is 100 calories.
I have to make sure it goes quickly into the freezer as I love it.
Don't know yet what is happening about dinner. Men!
I'm not cooking, that's for sure!
Going to do some rowing for bonus calories this afternoon. It's too hot out for running. I have a favourite programme to catch up with.

Slow progress with my MS Donations, up to $825!! I’m over the 1/2 way mark!!!, I haven’t been paying much attention to it cuz of winkle but that’s ok. So far I’m averaging about 20minutes of workout time now that I start an hour earlier. It’s nice getting home a bit earlier too4

Summers here for a day or two at least LOL

About twenty years ago I had a second grade class that was filled with kids with challenging behaviours and I felt overwhelmed. I thought I would never get through the year. Then something I heard or read inspired me to change my attitude. First, I gave myself a star on my calendar each day If my behaviour was good (I stopped judging the day by the behaviour of the students). Then I stopped talking about what happened at school (thus not allowing the stress of the school day to blend into the rest of my day and ruin it). When people asked me how my day had been, I said," Great, how has your day been?" And I stopped dreading going to work (I stayed in the moment).8

Happy Thursday, ladies!
Ah yes, the Law of Attraction. I went through a phase several decades ago where I really did try to focus on attracting money, a better job, etc. As I've gotten older and look back, I've rearranged my expectations and like what Kelly and Barbie (and others) have mentioned, gratitude seems to expand what I'm grateful for. I wish I would have focused on that more way back when instead of being dissatisfied with what I didn't have. So I'm very, very grateful for gratitude these days. I think this is an integral part of the Law of Attraction.
Which brings me to...."what I think about expands" and a Bible verse (Matthew 6:34) about "not borrowing tomorrow's troubles." Again, gratitude has been a key for me.
By the way, new ladies.... we try to avoid controversial topics pertaining to politics and religion. There's enough of that on the news and this is kind of our "safe place".
Lisa - you are making us think this morning. My table is pretty stable right now.... I know at some point if my DH's health worsens much more or if I lose him, I'll definitely have a wobbly table. I'm not worrying, but putting things in place as much as I can to make it a bit easier. Then, I let it go.
Rebecca - welcome home! Bet it will be great to be back in your normal routine.
Rori - thrilling to think about bathroom remodeling! Did you find a local Bathfitters or subcontractor to do the work? Hope it gets done quickly, without too much hassle/mess. I keep thinking of ways to make our home more handicapped accessible, and may have to take that plunge one of these days bathroom wise.
Today - I need to get after the remainder of the produce in the fridge from my CSA box. I have a big bunch of basil I'll process with some olive oil and stick into ice cube trays = "basil bombs". The big bag of snow peas and green onions - I was going to make a stir fry but instead will chop everything into manageable size and cook into an Asian chicken soup. Need to get the chicken thighs cooking. Will add a tablespoon of curry and bit of coconut milk and some chickpeas or white beans if I have them should make a great soup.
In checking out the physical therapy exercises for feet (Metatarsalgia & Morton's Neuroma) one therapist recommends rolling around a spiky massage ball under the foot. Has anyone tried that with good results?
OK ladies, I'd better get this show on the road. Have a great day!

Lanette
Cool & rainy SW WA State
Funny you should say that! I'm rolling my ball right now. I have a blue spiky massage ball which I roll while on the computer in the evenings. Every now and then it gets away from me and rolls under my chair or across the floor ... and it would probably look hilarious to a casual onlooker as I chase my ball and collect it again.
I have arthritis in the joints of both feet where my big toes attach to my feet, and the muscles in my feet have become very tight. So my podiatrist has recommended the spiky ball to help improve the flexibility in my feet. I'm not positive it has helped, but it feels good.
I also have some other foot exercises I do as well, and he suggested wrapping my feet in heat packs for a little while before and after I do the exercises to help loosen things up. I have done that, and it is wonderful, but it is time consuming and I'm often up and down all evening long. So ... instead of the heat packs, I do some of the foot exercises in the shower ... being careful to brace myself so I don't slip!

Welcome MichelleMinn! while it sure is woo woo, law of attraction can also be very strong. I'm trying to keep attitude about Joe's pneumonia positive and not allow thoughts of what else it could be to stay in my mind for more than a nanosecond ;}
Amber Your take on the law of attraction and your letter from God made me laugh out loud!
Belated best birthday wishes SueBDew. WaterBabes sound like a great group o'gals!
Michele, I do not take critical suggestions well. After the first one, I'd tell Vince to do it himself, or hire someone to do it his way, or keep his opinions to himself if he wanted me to do whatever it was. Boundaries, baby, boundaries... and consequences
Rebecca con VERY grats on the "polite" pound loss and the faux stained glass.

Shannon great a/c exercise strategy!
Machka brava for getting rid of clothes you really don't like any more. I donated 3 tops last week, loved the color, hated the fit. For me that's a victory as de-cluttering feels like diminishment and loss, not liberation. I do have one dress and one coat from my 20s that though I'll never wear again, I can't part with for sentimental reasons. Maybe will pass on to god daughter's oldest girl, if she shows interest in Renaissance Faire (the dress) or Dr. Zhivago (the coat) :}

KJ "learning about lungs and exercise" IF anyone can make THAT fun, it's you. Details please?

NYKaren the Apollo 13 quote.
Heather never thought of mixing lentils and qinoq in with brown rice. Will try that when this batch of frozen portions is gone.
Lanette "putting things in place as much as I can to make it a bit easier..." like your strength training. You inspire me.
Up since 2:30, not yet sleepy, will start morning routine (tea, readings, meditation YES and knee excercises REALLY YES) then nap if/when I get tired. Foggy and cool today so will focus on inside activities, laundry and setting up the Wii that's been sitting in its box on the floor for weeks...

Bear bins ... like in the Canadian Rockies?
I'm with you ... de-cluttering is never liberation.
In 2004, I did my first big purge ... got rid of about half my stuff, packed up the rest and put it into storage. Then cycled around Australia for 3 months before returning to Canada to university. But there are things I still miss. It was pretty traumatic.
In 2009, I did my second big purge ... dug everything out of storage and went through it again. I had to get all my stuff down to 300 cubic feet, which is a space about the size of a small bathroom. For example, slightly less than 8 feet tall x 6.5 feet long x 6 feet wide. That was the space I had reserved in a container to go onto a container ship between Canada and Australia. That was another traumatic event. Although I was looking forward to moving to Australia, getting rid of so much of my stuff was sad.
I also have sentimental pieces I won't give away. One is a dress my grandmother made for me ... that's not going anywhere!
But tonight I went through a small drawer of sports tank tops ... things I wear for running etc. ... and I pulled out two that will go. Both were from OP shops and neither fit me very well from the beginning. It seems to be I bought one without trying it on, thinking it would be OK, but nope. I may have worn it once or twice. They're cute but these days, I'd have to be underweight to wear them.

Morning to our successful group of ladies!. Yikes, miss a few days and it’s tough to catch up, only 1/2 there.
Kim:not sure if your employer offered you something yet. More free unsolicited advice: Don’t agree to the first offer, make them a counter offer after you take a couple of days to consider their offer. They were clearly in the wrong, don’t let them buy you off with a lunch, it would cost them more than a lunch to consult a lawyer. Keeping up the relationship is good too. You’re doing a great job!
Lanette:I have a Morton’s neuroma on each foot, arthritis. It significantly cleared up losing weight, but I still “roll” every night.
Pip:Your pics of Bullwinkle are captivating, I can’t get through the rest of the posts, she’s enchanting.
Auntiebk:Bear Spray? I’m sure you already tried that. I play a radio, human voices to scare racoons & possums, this might work.
Off to finish a long line of tasks and visiting the Mom. Kind of blew out my “lifestyle change” yesterday by eating caramels. Forgot how good sweets can be. Now I will have to erase the memory or I will come home with 2 bags of caramels tonight. And you get a caramel, you get a caramel and you get a caramel😋

Barbara AHMOD - DRAT that bear. My DH recommends coating the lid with super hot sauce, etc. Have you contacted your Fish & Wildlife Dept or even the garbage company to see what can be done about a "nuisance bear" ? They might have suggestions. Where you live, it's likely a common occurrence.
Seems now that it's used to coming around for snacks, it is potentially dangerous to you.
My DH worked in a mining camp when he was young, bears were a problem of course getting into the garbage there. When they got to be too much of a problem, he was the designated shooter. Sometimes there's no other option.
Way to go on your knee exercises by the way.
Machka - exciting to hear about your "foot ball". I am using a tennis ball right now - of course the dogs grab it when I'm not paying attention. Have a spikey ball on order from Amazon.
I had a few more thoughts on the Law of Attraction - Years ago, we put in an offer on the PERFECT house. Sadly, we didn't qualify for the loan but it stayed on the market. I would drive by now and then, "mentally moving in". Our job situation changed (more income) and we made another offer a year later. The price had actually dropped. So we went from mentally moving in to actually moving in. Visualization and patience was the key. It works.

KJ - JR was born early on March 9th yes he’s a handful one minute cuddled the next ALL BOY! He ran into the wall looked confused repeats multiple times waiting for a different response. Lol We have to distract him because he gets mad at the wall lol. You know how them walls just leap in front of you lol.
Machka- I don’t fully purge my closet gets passed down to the kids lol or sits in mine forever. My Daughter y Sons purges go to Mexico, family, charities, etc but even they aren’t good purges lol. Only JR purges Daughter holds in tight to most.
Barbara SOC - Might have to do a trick with your trash rinse stuff out before tossing it in the bin.Seperate spot for food scraps! Far away from the other trash cans. Clean the bins with water hose y bleach! Some people freeze their food bits in a deep freezer in a open trash bag then toss in on trash day works for some.Bear resistance enclosure (cage for the trash 🗑). My old job had wild animals issues old dog food y bird seeds we took into the woods in a certain spot dumped it.Of course the vultures started living in the trees for it lol 😂 switched one pest for another.
Backs hurting today carried JR too much feeling it in my bones4 -

Oh my gosh, I didn't realize all the pictures of the gorgeous dog were a memorial. I'm so sorry, Pip!2 -
lanette your dinner sounds yummy.
Barbie I am absolutely going to apply your attitude for my remaining years as a teacher, loved being reminded of the power of a positive, growth mindset.
