@Machka9 1250 maintenance and 1100 average to lose slowly sounds like similar long term.
I was thinking that in another 10 years it ll be 100 calorie less net per day !0 -

Lenora, love all your good sound advice.👍. Yep she was born in the early morning, and slept hard after being born. Maybe that started her heavy napping during the day and more awake at night. Also she had jaundice so maybe that contributed to it. But whatever it is, she is perfectly normal for her. They feed her on demand. She is getting breast milk, but they bottle feed her. Her bottles have these paddles on them that reduce air, so I have yet to see her spit up. Which is a major thing.💖

My base is 1200 to very slowly lose.
AF day today. Beer and pink wine. Low calorie as well.
Going to come in on target today to just eat my morning exercise calories. My 5k run I'm leaving on the table. Going to weigh myself in a couple of days when, by my calculations, I should have lost a pound. Hope so.
At last today we had a warm, sunny day. About time. It has been chilly and drizzly recently. My run was very pleasant indeed. I went on my own this time and listened to music.
We have volunteered to have Max for some one on one time next Sunday. They love it and we love it. He will be coming for lunch and spend the afternoon with us. Normally he gets crowded out by the two girls who are all over DH. He loves to spend individual time with him.
Also did a good session on the memoir this morning. I'm writing about the time the family first went camping out in France in 1961. A steep learning curve!

Rebecca- I love the new bottles y sipper cups too no air! My poor Daughter was born before this technology was a colicky baby she needed this so much. My Son has some issues but the bottles/sippers took care of that so fast. He’s on the new 360* cup now which doesn’t spill if you buy from nuby they sell replacement parts online cheap.I miss the cups my Daughter had for when she was fully on regular cups they were for small hands. Now their so wide!
Some folks are using children play food sets to get cups! They need to bring back the old ones.

Oh yes! I was a meany when my son's were between bottles and sippy cups. We would move and I would just throw away bottles saying, " well the bottles didn't come with us"! Knowing it wasn't my fault but the movers fault seemed to pacify their transition.👍

Katla In human medicine you are probably aware of the trend toward concierge medicine where people pay a fee of hundreds or thousands of dollars a year (in addition to whatever their insurance pays) in exchange for greater access, quick appointments, longer visits, and house calls. I wonder what a quarterly fee in veterinary medicine would cover. It seems as if you would get something...2 well-visits a year, basic labs, something...for your fee. Otherwise it sounds like a non-starter for the veterinarians. No one would go for that.

KJ (Kelly), i think I remember helping my daughters’ traumas as first-time moms better than I do any I had. Oh! Except for the time my first-born and I were out on the living room chair when she was about 2weeks old. I had her swaddled since it was chilly (mid-January). I had my legs stretched out in front of me, and was holding her across my body since I was VERY well-endowed. I dozed. My arm fell away and she rolled down my body and legs and into the floor. I was sure I’d killed her, or at least caused a concussion. Her angry roars did NOT reassure me. In my mind they were howls of pain. My husband hadn’t a clue either, so we called his mom. It was around 2AM, of course! She harrumphed and said, “As well padded as she is, and you are, she just wants the rest of her snack. Feed that child and get some sleep! That’s what I’m going to do!” She did, and I did, and that baby will be 48 this winter.
Allie! Youre durn tootin’ there’s age discrimination. I see it in retail, in tech stores and in all sorts of places where the manager is in the public eye. And who’s the bookkeeper or office manager? A woman. Which might be good, in your case. Although I never wanted a manager position, office manager was just my style, and yours too, I’ll bet. I’d put myself out there at your office as a candidate for the position, and if your boss doesn’t bite I’d put it out there so fast your head would swim. You’re knowledgeable in all aspects of the office and you have a great deal of patience. Get what you deserve, for once!
Lisa in AR, not the Siamese, but the orange tabby girl, Goldie will beg me for a drink from the bathroom sink. I comply,as a proper lady-in-waiting should, but then she lays down and grovels around in the wet sink afterward, getting nicely damp.
Debbie in VA, what is bee balm good for? Is it actually helpful for insect bites or stings?
Janetr OKC, im so glad no one was hurt! I often spent most of my summer in Joplin MO, and I remember how fierce the storms could be! I saw my first funnel cloud there, but not my last. Xenia OH got wiped out by a tornado while I was in my early 20s, and we had a small one here in Western WA last year.
Lol! Amber, isnt that some of the behavior that makes babies so adorable? They say exactly what they’re thinking. So do us little ol’ people, now and then. We just don’t care to pretend anymore.
Dana in AR, Gabrielle has such a winning smile!
I walked around our circle yesterday, plus an additional back-and-Firth on the straight stretch in front of my home. Six times around the circle is a mile, so I figure it was about a quarter mile! My worst problem is how very tired my shoulder gets on my cane arm. I can’t build up strength there, for some reason.

Has anyone heard from Sue near Arlington (N of Seattle) lately? I think of her often - her goats, daughter, horses, ailing DH. Hope she's OK - lots going on her life and I truly wish her the best.
Monthly fee for vet services..... I must say it's intriguing and I'd be curious to see what all services are included in the monthly fee and how much IS the monthly fee? Will they offer deeply discounted prescriptions, substantial discounts on dental, surgical, and other services, after hours emergency care (for a small surcharge), wellness exams perhaps? This sounds a bit like what some of the insurances cover, perhaps vets are offering this for patients who don't want or have insurance.

Sharon Seattle - sure is lol JRs a goof ball so he has some funny sayings that pop out lol. He even told his Father he has a Construction company he’s the boss has workers who do what he says because he’s the boss lol.Hubby just said good then you can pay rent! JR said nooooooooo I’m a baby 👶. Lol
Rebecca- Daughter I took all the bottles away said no more bottles. Problem was she was my smart kid had them hidden all over town even the Doctors office had to search to clear them out of their office lol. She had multi/toddler working with her . She could be a bootlegger back in the day lol.
Son- When he finally took a sippercup we got rid of bottles said no drink sipper. He’s my stubborn kid tho so gave up milk won’t touch it now. I want him to transition from sipper to cup but doesn’t seem possible yet he’s clumsy like me so needs a tight hand grip so waiting that out.

Machka your posting about brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) led me to this,
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-intermittent-fasting-might-help-you-live-longer-healthier-life/?redirect=1
"Mattson thinks that intermittent fasting acts in part as a form of mild stress that continually revs up cellular defenses against molecular damage. For instance, occasional fasting increases the levels of “chaperone proteins,” which prevent the incorrect assembly of other molecules in the cell. Additionally, fasting mice have higher levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein that prevents stressed neurons from dying. Low levels of BDNF have been linked to everything from depression to Alzheimer's, although it is still unclear whether these findings reflect cause and effect. Fasting also ramps up autophagy, a kind of garbage-disposal system in cells that gets rid of damaged molecules, including ones that have been previously tied to Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and other neurological diseases."
which led me to these.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3106288/ "Our data lead us to speculate that sporadic fasting might represent a simple, safe and inexpensive means to promote this potentially therapeutic neuronal response."
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0959438818300011 ". . .defects in autophagy underlie neurodegeneration in mice and humans."
Hey all you intermittent fasters, you get more persuasive all the time. Oops, down the rabbit hole.
Time to get up and harvest herbs.
Lighter, lovelies!

Julie Bananas, the foods you had (salad, smoked salmon and feta) can be very high in sodium, and that’s the cause of most water retention. I have to keep track of all the nutrients if I’m going to try to account for weight fluctuation on a daily basis. If you have a high sodium meal, try to move your fluid intake up if you can. Watching single things isn’t the answer. That’s why our meal chart gives us all those other statistics to look at. At my weight loss surgeon’s office I can go over what I’ve been eating with their dietician and tweak things like that to keep my loss going at a higher rate.
Barbara AHMOD, my circle that I mentioned in my last post is 1/6th if a mile. I did almost Hal a mile yesterday, and am searching for a way to make the shoulder of my cane arm mumble about how it’s being abused. I’m thinking of trying s walking staff. It has a different grip angle at least. I’m afraid intermittent fasting isn’t going to fix that one! But ifadting like the 18/5 thing is sounding more interesting all the time. That and Keto.
I had a terrific time this weekend at my DGD’s wedding. I was afraid Dakota, her groom, would be underrepresented since we have a good-sized family but nope! Out of the woodwork they came. From far and wide. I’m glad we aren’t the only ones with a few drifty family members! All of us hyperindividualists got along fine. The quiet ones opened up and the ones we all prayed wouldn’t open their mouths didn’t - for the most part. The weather cooperated, and both dads walked our dear girl down the aisle - probably helping hold her up along her way, since she was too busy beaming at everyone to notice the very uneven ground beneath her feet.
I ate half my primavera pasta on Friday night, saving the rest for Saturday evening. Breakfast was a protein drink before the ceremony, and I enjoyed a fried drumstick without most of the crust, salad with oil and vinegar, and a small helping of baked beans that I ate with a fork to let the sauce drain off. Topped it off with a very small slice of the yellow layer cake with orange frosting (which was white!) and filling. I kept within boundaries all weekend, walked all over the park venue Saturday, walked my head off Sunday too when I got home. I was punished by the cold shoulder from Andromeda until bedtime, while Goldie couldn’t stop head-butting me on the keg, on my face, in the arm, and purring - both totally nonstop. My Neverending Kittylover. .

Sharon Seattle- when I ate out Saturday y Sunday my lord the headache from the salt content of each meal! I got dishes with the lowest sodium at the restaurants bam through the roof!!! My fingers swelled so bad my ring turned my finger red Hubby said take it off keep it off so it doesn’t cut you! Never realized how much salt 🌶 Chili’s y Mexican Restaurant used versus my cooking at home! I been eating all natural tilapia with a low sodium count of 35mg it says I steam it members mark sams club .Had to cut down on my convenience vegan freezer items too! My headaches are less since I stopped salting foods too. Only time I use salt now is sparingly for special dishes when Navy Daughter comes home to visit sea salt 🧂 (say no difference between salts they all come from the ocean).
