Heather, when I was a girl in Ohio we had an immense elm I the yard if the home my parents bought in 1955. It was the focal point of much of the landscaping. Two years later it showed digns of the disease and had to be taken down. My mom was devastated. When I went back to Ohio for my 50th reunion in 2011 we drive by the home and were invited in! The front yard was now presided over by a large Ash tree and a beautiful magnolia at the corner that was one my mother had planted. It was past bloom time, but the tree had grown immense and spreading for a magnolia, and the ash shaded the Eastern side of the house nicely. I feel almost teary looking at that stately elm. The Logan elm, which was famous for Chief Logan giving an important speech beneath it, survived the disease for a number of years until it finally succumbed. I'm glad to hear of the new cloned o es! I hope th3y live long and prosper.
Julie, my reality check was a picture of me in just such a dress as you describe.
It was an intense shock, and it was 11 months ago. That was when I began to investigate weight loss surgery with a friend who had it 8 years ago, was my age, and looked and felt at least a decade younger than me. Whatever solution your wakeup leads to, all my wishes for you to be successful too go out to you.
The sun is out, so I think I'll treat myself to a little walking adventure outside. It's not quite warm enough to open the house to it, but may be by about 4 or 5pm.

The above picture of me was at around my highest weight - 262.2 lbs. It has been made worse because arthritis and 8 fused discs have shrunk me from 5'8" to 5'5".

Kim: Lisa beat me to the punch by way of offering you grant-writing support. Give me a call anytime. Is there a chance the garden could increase your hours to put you at the minimum needed to get benefits?
Janetr: So sorry to hear of your latest worries. Prayers going up.
We had three days of rain, so didn't make it to the pool. I increased my time on the recumbent bike and seated exercises using the resistance band. The ankles are feeling better all the time, but the fracture on the left 5th metatarsal bone still needs more time to knit. I can clearly feel it when I am in the pool. Next x-rays will be on July 5th.
Have to say I'm totally indebted to all of you and the MFP diary for being able to maintain and even lose pounds while being so sedentary. I've lost all the extra weight I brought home from Portland, and looks like I'll end this month down about a pound. Yay!
DH had a spell of light-headedness yesterday. He came out of the kitchen to come sit in the living room, and before he could get to his chair, he knelt next to my chair, and grabbed the handrails. Then, his head started veering treacherously towards our glass coffee table. Fortunately, it's on casters, so I was able to push it out of the way, and caught him before his torso hit the area rug hard. Of course he says it was nothing. His pulse was normal, and he wasn't sweaty, but at his age,(per Dr. Google) dizzy spells are not unusual. We already have a appointment with ENT this Thursday in connection with his hearing, so I'll be sure to ask doctor to advise if this might be related to an inner ear issue.
Stay well, friends. We can do this.

scary with hubby! Thank you for the offer... between you and Lisa - I have access to the Goddesses of grant writing!!! I need to get to 20 hours for 403, 30 for insurance (or maybe its the other way around) but either way I don't want more than 10-15... I love my business and make more working for myself than for them.

Amber- scary for your DH. We had high winds and lightening last night. Fourth weekend in a row with bad weather. Ugh
Meg- so happy to see your post. Take care of you my friend.
Played bridge all afternoon so I am tired of sitting. Too hot and humid to walk outside.
Better get dinner ready.

Lisa - I don’t see ultrasound pictures well either. You’ll be great when the baby is really here! I am tired of the wet and cold here too, it’s supposed to rain everyday this week.
Heather -glad your hubby is getting the hat.

Doc says I have to lower my cholesterolso no more whole milk yogurt for me
I will take a break from yogurt for a while before I experiment with lower fat or even soy substitutes.

Rita - what's your daily carb target? Do you still have your daily food diary open so we can see what/how you are eating?
My carb goal right now is 38 grams for the day. Being that I’m close to my goal, I keep carbs at 10% or less of calories. I do have my log open. Feel free to take a look!

I'll be going to bed any minute so I can get up extra early to walk the dogs so we can leave the house before 6 AM to go to Seattle for Jake to see the cardiologist, have an echo-cardiogram and have his pacemaker checked. Any event that includes a ferry ride is a good event. I'll report tomorrow about what the doctor says.

Did one segment of the 10MS Carb Burner DVD then took the extremepump class. The plan for tomorrow is to do a “You Can Do Anything for a Minute” DVD
After exercise, counted money at the church. This is the last time I do it until next April. Then bowling, then ceramics at night and then mahjongg.
Kim – if you need help with that grant just give Lisa a call!! Update, I see Lisa has already offered her help.
Barbara – I made a zucchini chocolate cake and Vince is eating it! I’m just not telling him there’s zucchini in it….lol What is the saying “if it doesn’t move and it should, use WD40, if it moves and shouldn’t then use duck tape” My antivirus keeps telling me that the Newcomer website is unsafe. Not that I care to go to it anyway.
KJ – We have wasps by the pool, I know that they’re behind the retaining wall. We did get a wasp trap, a WHY trap (wasps, hornets, and yellowjackets). The reviews did say to use applejuice as the attractant. So far, not very many wasps at all. I have seen a few go into the wall, but not lately. Is the trap working????? I certainly hope so
Better go eat breakfast before I forget like I did the other day
Went to ceramics and picked up my Linus. Here he is minus his blanket. I also picked up Sally but I don’t think her dress is as dark as the sample of the paint showed so I’m repainting her dress
Meg – you were missed! Sorry to hear about the baker’s cyst. I hope it’s not too painful for you
Heather – you certainly can’t pass up a free hat!
Rori – (((big hug)))

I know I’m about to sound like a total downer, but my sister is causing grief again. I just can’t believe the way she has treated our mom. They jointly own a home, but still owe 14 years on the mortgage. I have begged my sister to let me buy her out. She seems to think selling is the best route. I don’t know what I’m going to do with my mom. Social Security is her only income, so no respectable apartment complex will rent to her.
I was so physically ill from the mess tonight that I couldn’t go to the gym or eat supper. This is taking a huge toll on all of us.
Thanks for “listening”.

Connie that is why I bought the house to rent to our son. Rents are out of sight here in the Twin Cities. If they sell the home where can they find a cheaper place to live? I am on your page.4
