Hi ladies!
I went back to the gym for the first time in months. I only walked a half mile before my hip hurt, but I gotta start somewhere. At least the treadmill is cushioned and gives nice metrics. It's been so long I forgot to take music! Of course then I came home and ate a yogurt. So I am back in the gym crowd.

Good morning dear ladies. Well we made our quick trip to Kansas. DH's sister is a fighter. We got there and hospice was there. They have her set up with a hospital bed and O2. They explained everything and are very caring. We can home yesterday as she is sleeping and sounds like she will be doing that most the time and it is only a matter of days before the toxins from no dialysis build up and she will pass. We did get to visit some when we got there and yesterday before we left she was sleeping really deep. We made the choice to come back and not just sit there and wait. She has been doing dialysis since 2000. So trying to stay busy until we get the call. We will go back for the funeral. Thanks for all the support it means a lot.
I did get my blood donated last Friday and it went really well. I had myself so worked up and it turned out okay. So will try and do that when they have the Red Cross drive here at the hospital every 3 months.
Allie--keeping figures crossed and saying a prayer that you find something soon and it will be better in every way.
Rebecca--I love writing and getting letters. I had a couple friends we wrote on the time, 2 have passed and one is
my friend who had the stroke. I do send a hand written card to each grandchild once a month.
Well it has been raining around here a lot and the flooding is starting. A friend that lives by the river called and wanted to know if she could stay with us if the river comes to the house. So planning for company. No word today yet on DSIL. The waiting is the hardest part.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE6 -
Well done Annie!
The first step is the hardest.
Had a nice day with my friend. Her husband is really rather boring and takes ages to get out a thought. His wife is quick of wit and can talk like me! I just mainly talked to her, though I hope I wasn't rude.
Lunch food went well and the homemade mango and coconut ice cream was delicious! I had limes to squeeze over and a lime zest, mint and sugar dust. DH was most impressed.
We went out for a 4 mile walk along the seafront and finished the day with tea and flour less chocolate cake from our posh bakery. Heaven!
They are now safely hitched up at their campsite.
I am squeaking in under calories. Just. Thank goodness for exercise. I did all my morning session.
Going to watch another Wallander tonight.

Shingles vaccine - I’ve had both the old one and the new two series one. My Grandmother had shingles and was miserable every time she had a flair. I don’t want that so I’ll do what I can to prevent them

Lanette, when we were in Japan it was from 1985-88 ( no kids), then from 1990-94 ( eldest son was born in 1989 so 1 yr old to 4 yrs old). Middle son knew of the Navy life, and daddy out to sea. My husband retired summer of 1998, and the youngest son was born later that year. So he was the retirement gift! Yay! When my eldest had graduated from A school, we celebrated and took him out to the nudist resort, it was the 4th of July. As a surprise for son, we had told him to bring his Navy whites. My husband had bought a Chief's uniform, so as son was changing in one part of the RV, husband was as well. They met in the middle, and it was the first time my youngest had seen his father in a uniform. It was one of those moments I'll never never forget. 💖. We walked around the resort, my husband and son in their whites, getting handshakes, hugs and some cried. Nudists are very patriotic.⚓💖

well it has been an interesting day thats for sure..
went and picked up the DGD and went and walked the dogs and then fed DFIL and then took her to the park..
then came back to my house for a bit and went to lunch with some dear childhood friends of mine. Tal enjoyed it too. dropped her off at her grandfather's house and went and picked Tom up he had a drs appointment and I had one right after . he couldn't walk so they changed his meds to a steriod cream for his foot.. and spoke with the Dr about my antidepressants. will use up what I have I have both 10mg and 20mg, I will see if I need to up it at all and will call him If I feel the need..dropped Tom off Elana just getting home. so got him in the house and came back.. will go down and feed DFIL.
whomever asked it is a nursing home where he is and they have CNA's that take care of him and 2 recreation associates so basically thats all covered. but referrals i could get a dozen from all who work there.
Only good thing about tomorrow is there will be no patients nor Dr. so I can get stuff done.
after feeding DFIL in morning riding up to Glastonbury to apply for Companions and Homemakers.. hopefully i can get enough work to pay the bills and get out of the place im in

Rebecca - great photo, neat story about your Navy guys!
Love that you have penpals and write handwritten letters. I had a similar friend who would write pages and pages as well. It was almost sad when email took over for our correspondence. She passed away from breast cancer last year but I saved several of the letters she had written throughout the years. Nothing earthshattering, just what was going on in her life and she had beautiful cursive handwriting. I'd like to give a shout-out to Glenda up there with the Angels. We had never met, she was a buyer for a seafood company in Dallas, I worked for a seafood distributor in Seattle and we talked on the phone every day for years until I left that job. Then we'd call each other at home every week. We looked a lot alike... she resembled me more than my own sister.
Vicki - glad you made the trip to see your SIL. She's been fighting for a long time. I have a friend with polycystic kidney disease, went on dialysis a few years ago. She's hoping to be on a transplant list but not sure if her health will allow it, plus she's still a heavy smoker and has been for years. She's a gem too.
Hope the flooding isn't bad for you. How are the crops doing out your way? I think I mentioned my sis in Northern Indiana reports that it's been so wet and rainy, some farmers have given up even planting any crops. Talk about a stressful way to make a living.
Meg - I forgot to mention you have me WAY beat on shoes, lol. I still have plenty, most of which I'll never wear again so need to go through them. Another thing to add to the declutter list. Glad your DH is half way through. Does it seem like time has gone quickly for you without him there?
Katla - good luck finding shoes. My favorite walking shoes had been leather Keen - Presidio style. Waterproof, not cushy at all. With the orthotics, they are too small to wear for a period of time but I'm keeping them for winter strolls in the rain. Podiatrist switched me to Hoka One-One with rounded toe, definitely cushier. Haven't worn them yet as I'm quite happy with the New Balance I had been wearing, the orthotics fit great. They are cushy which I need now. Shoes are getting so expensive. I got the Hoka's at REI which have a generous one year return policy... even if they've been worn for months. Decide you don't like them, take them back. I have a lifetime membership there, cost $20.
Heather - your mango/coconut ice cream and the flourless chocolate cake sounded yummy. I bet your friends had a great time.... I have known guys like that and felt it was my task to keep prompting them for an answer, lol. Tiring. Is this normal for him? Glad the gal was chatty, makes time go by faster. You have the perfect place for a 4 mile walk!
Whizzed up a couple big handfuls of fresh basil with a couple cloves of fresh garlic and olive oil in the Nutribullet (I don't have a food processor). WOW that is zingy, I drizzled some into the soup I had for lunch. Happy to say my sinuses have cleared up.

Happy Wednesday Ladies!
Terri - I really wish the guy would get the teleporter back to me. I want to take a ride on your boat!. The teleporter.... how hard can it be to replace a flux capacitor? I have a feeling the mechanic took it off for a test drive and I'll never see it again, lol.
Make it a great day, ladies!

I have a similar problem with my TARDIS. It’s so well camouflaged that I can’t find it.

Lanette - I'm really only friends with the gal. The old guy is quite sweet but B O R I N G.
But then, I so rarely like my friend's partners. I much prefer a one to one meet up anyway. I'm very posessive of my friends.

But maybe seeing if it does will be the greatest adventure ever!”
2 quotes I came upon in my reading today. Got my 3 miles of walking in, upstairs window trim all painted and I'm planning a lovely dinner of roasted golden beet salad with feta and oregano, corn on the cob and peri peri chicken on the grill.
DD comes home from her first day as a mother's helper, it will surely give her a whole new perspective of what hard work it is to keep a 4 yo and a 6 yo happy and occupied.

Pip and Kirby: Party on, birthday boy and beautiful wife.
Allie: A fabulous, fulfilling new job for you is near the top of my prayer list. Keep putting the word out. You are looking to enter a field that is desperate for workers. I would also advertise your services on Nextdoor.com.
NYKAREN: My mouth started to water reading about your planned dinner tonight.
Injury update: The right ankle is great. The left ankle is okay. The broken left pinkie toe is still sore. I can really feel the site of the injury whenever I do the ankle physical therapy exercises. Sooo, doc has left it to me to adjust my range of motion exercises to what is tolerable for the left toe. No point in rehabing one body part just to aggravate another existing injury. I'm still in the stiff boot, but slowly transitioning to a workout shoe while walking inside. Next appointment is in 4 weeks, but I have full latitude to cancel if I feel like the fracture is better.
Our bathtub conversion will begin in a month from today. I have my handyman Reuben lined up to do all the work that will be needed to finish the sink faucet, countertop, cabinets and lighting. Now, it's up to me to (a) decide what I really want; and (b) get all the parts lined up. I love interior design, and can spend hours collecting ideas. However, I do have champagne taste on a beer budget, so compromises ahead. Yesterday I found a slim, LED dimmable overhead light which is also a fan. The older DH gets, the more he wants lights, lights and more lights, so this is a good start.
Stay well. Love you all.

My mother had shingles so I got the first shot. Had shingles twice after that. Found out later that first shot was never intended to prevent shingles only the post-herpetic nerve pain that can sometimes follow it. Have since gotten the new vaccine which is actually meant to prevent it so here's hoping it works and I don't get them again.
Went with DD on Sunday to see "Wicked". Really enjoyed it. It was a great production.
Allie - I think you are on the right track for a job that suits you.
Pip - Hope Kirby has awesome birthday.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA4
