We have just had the most amazing bbq ever! DH was so happy! "The best bbq I have ever had! The best food I have ever had!"
We had trouble getting it going, but the cooking was a dream and the smell transported me to the Mediterranean.
Marinated lamb kebabs. He even complimented me on the rice salad! Asparagus.
Plus a red wine from the Bekaa Valley in the Lebanon from 2004, the year we got married.
I feel so blessed.
Raspberries for dessert.

Barbara my brother died quite suddenly a few weeks back. It was right about when I started posting, so I tried to lead with lighter subjects. We weren't very close.
It took a few days to get back to 1200 calories after the funeral and family visiting. But I think I have it today! Made my protein goal, on track to make my fiber goal. Broccoli for dinner, back on the straight and narrow!

Barbara My mission to lower my LDL includes oats every morning, no more full fat yogurt , less red meat, more Brussels
Sprouts, almonds, salmon and avocado. And oh yeah aiming for walking 3 Miles every day. I broke down my plan I to 3 “phases” before my lab work in mid September I’m down 2 lbs from my early June labs, and I’m in phase 2 of the mission—-and I do write every thing down in a bullet journal cause that motivates me

Pip: When I first met him, he wouldn’t gimme any of the cool drugs that he had (and still has) access to, he’s too honest. Oh well I tried.
Lenora: Glad to hear you and DH are doing well. You have been missed around here.
Barbie: I suspect your bathroom remodel will be just right.
Michele: I understand your feelings about the class reunion. I went to my class’s meet and greet at the pub. There were four women who I went to Junior High with and I enjoyed seeing them again. Everyone else was essentially a stranger. I will say that the class “popular kids” turned out to see one another at the meet and greet & again at the fancy sit-down dinner the next day. I passed on that one. The two people I most wanted to see were not there. One was in my class for twelve years. The other went to the other highschool in town and I didn’t see him again after 6th grade. Of course, I didn't expect to see him at the reunion. :ohwell:
Viv UK: “ I've saved a fortune on heating bills since the menopause." I love it!!!
Machka: I like “wellness.” Thanks for sharing. I love your idea for the 7 dimensions of wellness.
Julie: Welcome to a great group! :flowerforyou:
Lisa: I love my gym membership. There are so many great people and also different exercise opportunities. Yoga is my favorite, but there is a machine room where I can ride a bike and pedal off calories while wishing the TV’s were quiet. There is also a weight room, and I don’t go there anymore. I did try out kettlebells but I had bad form and couldn’t seem to fix it. There are also racket ball courts. Tried that out several years ago and enjoyed it, but the friend I played with moved away. :ohwell:
Lenora: I’m so glad to hear from you again.
Barbara: We bought a poop-scoop set with a long handle on a “shovel” and another long handle with a blade to drag poop into the shovel. It works great. I also have a dangle on my dog leash that holds plastic bags. When we’re out walking in the neighborhood I can pick up his poo in the bag and drop the full bag into the first garbage can I see. It works well for me. Our city also has bag dispensers located at the entrances to parks and trash cans where people can drop off the dog poop bags and other garbage. A hundred years from now I envision archaeologists finding the plastic bags of poop and formulating theories about them.
Heather: Your BBQ sounds divine, and delicious.
Annie: I am so sorry about the loss of your brother. :flowerforyou:
Today, yoga was delightful even though it was at 8 am. Yikes!. My next yoga class will be Friday at 10 am. I have an eye doctor appointment coming up on Wednesday. It is just a routine check-up and I am not worried that she will find anything to worry about. DH wants to upgrade his Iphone because the old one died. I susepct that will become part of the day to the eye doctor.

Heather - your barbecue sounds wonderful!
Firstly - all biopsies were absolutely negative, and all the scopes showed nothing alarming. Still a few mild symptoms, but they feel they will clear up if I add fiber, which I will start doing. There are fiber preparations out there that I will start using... which should balance out the iron that I will probably have to take for the rest of my life.
There are worse things.
Katla - I used to go to the gym when we lived in Fort Stockton... but life has been just so peripatetic since, it never made sense to try again. Planet Fitness does have a $10 a month membership, which as my husband pointed out, even with the $40 annual fee on top of it, comes out to less than an hour's worth of either one of our salaries each month. And they are fully staffed 24-7, so even my 5 a.m. visits should be reasonably safe.
And... there's no commitment. If I don't like it, I can cancel. Which I will if I don't. I signed up today, and will start tomorrow. No time like the present!

hi ladies!
I'm really enjoying these guinea pigs. Vince (my partner) and I go in and spend an hour with them after dinner every night and give them lots of veggies and interaction - and then at night I go in there and read for at least an hour while laying on the floor next to the cage. The GPs have been slow to come out of their shell, but last night they both laid down (even put their heads down) while I was in there with them. It made me feel good that they could relax.
Here's a photo of our orchid that just bloomed. We were given it almost exactly 4 years ago (July 28th) when one of our cats died. There's a photo of him, too. This is only the 2nd time it has bloomed since we've had it. It was in bloom when we got it, and then basically didn't bloom for 3 years. I had been considering throwing it out and then in December last year it bloomed.

Grandmallie - oooh greasy y 🧂 salty bet that led to a nice nauseating feeling with headaches y belly pains too. When we were younger the things we could eat. Lol I loved pickles y ice cream as a teenager.Of course my stomach condition means meds that tasted like chalk ground up in a glue factory so my food likes were pretty gross to compensate I’m sure.Lol sad part every pregnancy I craved those weird things!
Annie- Proud Of you! You handled everything with such grace. Here’s hoping 🤞 your weight stayed put or cones off quicker than mine did after Daughters visit.
UPDATE:Tried the HEB sugarfree pudding with the same unsweetened almond milk I bake with all the time. Wasn’t impressed by the taste Hubby said next time we should buy the Walmart brand give it a taste.Until then will eat up every box I bought work on the recipe to see if it tastes better frozen, mixed with electric mixer instead of by hand,or even a little creamer from Hubby coffee to give it some pep.His is a low enough calorie brand that 1Tbls won’t be too bad but still will raise it from 60calories to 95calories it’s flavored so will see if that helps too.Sometimes you got to add something back to makeup for everything taken out.Or it could be a product not perfected for dieters taste buds just yet... might taste better with cows milk but then it would trigger my stomach spasms so no Thankyou.

Rita: Bravo on dropping to a single digit size. I'm like you, and still gravitate to the large and XL racks, even tho I've been wearing size 8-10 for about a year.
Barbie: Our guest bath renovation starts on August 12th. My handyman will handle the sink, cabinet and painting. He has already redone the vanity light and installed a fan with LED light. Home Depot will do the tear out of the tub and install the shower. That part of the job requires permits to start, and an inspection once done. My goal is to renovate one room every year. The challenges that pop up during the process is another great test of spiritual principles.
Barbara: Missed you! Adult day care is not a subject I have broached with DH. I've had caregivers come here for respite in the past, but honestly, it stressed him, which just stressed me. On my honor, we are doing okay.
So sorry to hear about all the DH's who suffer with tummy troubles. I'd really hate it if mine associated my cooking with getting sick. Fortunately, he never gets sick, and he loves vegetables, so he eats alot of them.
Speaking of cooking, I've never made rice in the IP! So, now that you have inspired me, I'm going to pop a cup of brown rice in tonight and serve with steamed shrimp and sliced cucumbers.
Stay well, friends. We can do this.

Grandmallie- Lol clams y fries fried would knock me flat . Guy Cousin (3rd I think) y his wife are in Keto they’ve dropped a lot of weight he’s only eating 1000-1100calories. Sounded to low to me but who knows. What works for one doesn’t for another. He has a egg in the morning before work (plain). Then for lunch a avocado 🥑, potatoe fried in light oil lots of seasoning 🧂, y 2 fried eggs 🥚 in light oil or margarine. Then meat 🥩 for dinner with lots of veggies even if at work. We are close funny because his mom is my Dads 1st cousin y there not as close lol. He’s older than me still going strong 💪.
Spring Cleaning 🧹- Just hit my Underwear drawer been 2 1/2 years because of hope I’d be a sz 5 panty again lol 😂.Finally tossed the old ones y took the newer to brand new 5-7’s to my Daughters underwear shelf. Had socks 🧦 I bought while pregnant with swollen feet y kankles . Swelling from hypertension got so bad I went from my socks to Mother-in-laws to Hubby’s to bare foot 🦶 cause even shoes stopped fitting.I then understood the Barefoot y pregnant joke. Got the socks 8-10per bag for $4 each on sale they’ve say unopened.Well tossed the bad ones y sacked up the aggghh okay but looks bad ones for Family members in Mexico (farming community they wear them while working so new work clothes to them). Got family in Brazil to U.K. depends on which side of the family or in-laws we’re talking about lol. Brazil y USA 🇺🇸 where my Family fled to during Hitler we sent our Jewish y young (Hitler Youth ages) kids over on 2 boats. The ones in Brazil became all Doctors 🥼 the many richer families that took them in decided to teach them raise them as their own leaving them open for greater education . The ones who landed on USA 🇺🇸 joined family members here since Plymouth Rock so farmers to hunters (They left the colony married into Native American Tribes still do (Great Grandma was full blooded Native American). Oh well mind wandered lol Drawers cleaned that’s the point.Fought a 2yr old running off with my panties the whole time but done ✅. Gave up on starting the next drawers..maybe next year.

Rori: Your dinner sounds lovely. My husband has an IP and loves it. He really has fun cooking with it. Our neighbor’s husband also has one and loves it. Technically they’re owned by the families, but in both cases the men have laid claim. I have a strong personal preference cooking stew & roasting chicken & turkey in cast iron.
Pip: You have been blessed with two wonderful husbands and each of them has been blessed to have you.
DH’s ancient iphone died and we’re planning to get him a new one this week. We have a couple of choices—there is the Apple Palace in downtown Portland (my nickname for it) and there are a couple of other Apple stores that don’t qualify as palaces. I took mine into the Washington Square store for a problem repair. They did a great job, but the mall was humongous. I see two primary options—trying to park in NW Portland or hiking half a mile in a huge mall. The parking at the mall is free, and so is the enormous hike to the store.

Rori, Your bath renovation sounds great and even more extensive than ours. At first all we had intended to do was change the flooring and the plan kept growing. The big problem is that the guest bath is the one that Jake uses in the middle of the night because he sleeps in the guest room. Today the handyman called and said he could get started tomorrow but Jake asked him to wait until the new vanity comes from Oregon and then do it in as few days as possible rather than starting now and waiting for things to arrive.
Allie, You've learned a great lesson about how some tempting foods are really bad choices. Now you don't ever have to do that again.
I got up extra early to walk the dogs so I could be home to get my hair cut early with Jake and just before we left the house, we got a call saying that our stylist wasn't cutting hair today so we'll have to wait until Thursday. Since we were all dressed and ready to do something, we drove to the garden shop and bought three plants for our newly prepared raised garden bed---bok choy, spinach, and cucumbers.

Caught up, again. You all have much more going on than I do. Had a trauma this morning when battery died on food scale (would never have thought that would bother me so much). After searching everywhere for a replacement, remembered I had recently put one in my old scale (that I replaced last week), so I was able to solve that problem.
Got sad news at work today-former long term employee passed away. She had suffered from Alzheimers for several years. She had been so vibrant and joyful, a great person to work with. The last two years she didn't really remember anyone.
Came home, got some insurance billing questions emailed off, hopefully get issue resolved soon. I think that a bill other than mine showed up on my MyChart and I paid it while I paid another bill there. Flex spending asked for documentation for charge and I noticed the discrepancy. Don't mind if I really do owe the money, but don't want to give it up.
Went for short walk after dinner--really beautiful out and with the breeze a bit cool. Tomorrow is supposed to be the same, then heat back up some after that. Oh well, it is summer.

Did a Work It Off DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to take the water class.
It rained real hard last night and now it’s cooler. We’ll need to put more chemicals in the pool. Vince was planning to cut the grass today but it’s too wet so we’ll probably do it later in the week. I do need to get things listed to take to the Salvation Army tomorrow.
Lanette – good luck at the hospital
Juliedee – welcome! I hear ya about how frustrating it can be to see these gals with perfect bodies. So many times I think “just wait till you’re my age and have had multiple children” “just wait”.
I am finding that since I’m on maintenance, Nutritionix seems to be working better for me for logging foods. Sometimes they only have certain things in their database which are 10 or so calories off from what I have. So I’m learning more and more that close is fine without going over. But I still come back here for the wonderful ladies.
Barbara – oh, Vince is too lazy to make what he wants. So I put breading on things that I want more flavor for and he scrapes it off (rather than making something). Well HE can spend the time scraping it off.
If I don’t use the plastic bags when I clean the litter box, I give them to the soup kitchen
Amber – when I made bacon in the air fryer, I had to drain the fat mid-cook, too. Well, the air fryer is returned, so no more air fryer bacon. I don’t think I’ll get another one, too big
Just tried to start the application for Medicare . Vince said I can apply 6 months before I turn 65, only it’s 3 months. Still
Lisa – yea for negative biopsies and scopes! I didn’t know Planet Fitness charged an annual fee! I thought it was just monthly. Not like I use them, there isn’t one by me.
Ginny in O(H – I’m so sorry about your former long-term employee
Called Denise. PJ has an infantile hemangioma. He’s right now on timerol gel (?spelling). They took an EKG and then he’ll be on propranolol assuming everything is OK.

I joined Planet Fitness in February. I did it because I knew I needed more than walking, and I don’t walk in extreme weather (cold, hot or wet). Louisville has been wet or hot from months on end. I really like my location, and it has kept me more active when I would have hung it up when it got hot! I love that 15-18 year olds have been free this summer. My daughter and I have a blast there.
This coming from the person who hated PE and could find so many excuses to sit on the bench. I’ve kind of gotten addicted to it. I really miss it when I don’t go. However, it was great to get to walk outside tonight. I have my bedroom window open a bit so I can hear the crickets and tree frogs. We’re supposed to have awesome weather until Friday.

Can't believe that I just lost a long post, AND the post that I wrote to replace it! DOH!!! Oh well! Shortened version...
Allie: Well done with the Keto. It wouldn't work for me as it gave me horrendous indigestion and heartburn when I tried it.
Rori: YAYYYY!!!! For the biopsy results. You'll soon work out the fibre. Too right!!! on the renos snowballing. We had a similar experience when we did our downstairs shower room. Fortunately, DH is a great handyman, so our costs are minimal when we do a reno. He can turn his hand to most things, including electrics/plumbing.
Barbara: great photos and results from the weights/kettle bell workouts. I have also cut down my cardio, and upped my intensity on strength workouts much more productive use of time.
Already done lower body work and yoga/meditation. Going with the flow today. Letting the young'uns decide what they want to do for the day.
Welcome to all our new ladies.
Sending positive vibes out into the stratosphere.
Congrats on successes. Commiserations on hiccups along the way. (((Hugs))) if you need them!

Think we were all overcome by the heat yesterday, so didn't stay as long as we would have at the York Maze. We didn't finish the maze either, but we were so hot we didn't care lol. We went into the updated House of cornfusion which was much better than last year. We were glad to get home though.
I was woken by a storm in the early hours, spectacular thunder and lightening! It didn't clear the air for long, it's still muggy this morning.
Think we'll take it easy today
Haven't had time to read yet, so hope everyone is doing okay.
