There are 120 people in my class (it's a small class this semester).
Guess how many showed up to today's lecture!!!
Bonus question: Guess what the two most popular last names are.
(I looked when I was checking how many people are in the class and noticed that there are two common names tied with 4 people each ... well, one is very common and one is slightly less so.)

OK, two of you have guessed half or no more than half, and you're right. Less than half. So now you all have got only 59 numbers to choose from!!
And I was there to count and can confirm there were more than 1.
Barbie and Kelly, you're heading the right direction with the names ... definitely not Australian! Or perhaps it's the new Australia.

Been for my run. No fainting fit, though I always feel a light headed when I stop. I'm fine when I'm shuffling along! I took some mints with me, just in case.
I wore my new leggings which are really wonderful . They have pockets both sides and on the waist, really soft and very comfortable. OCCFFY. I got them from Amazon.
Kim - You are a STRONG woman! I don't know how you do it! I hope you got well paid for your efforts.
Rebecca - Athena Rose just gets more and more gorgeous. I bet you can't wait to see her again.
Our supermarket delivery is free if you order a certain, quite low, amount. I just make it up with non perishables. You can never have enough toilet roll! I've never heard of "can't be bothered to find non gluten!" :noway: Plus they have all the basic ranges with lots of good offers. Always receive stuff in good date and if it is near date they give it to you free. If they substitute you can give it back to the driver or request no substitution. Whatever happened to the much vaunted US customer service??

Beth ~ Happy Anniversary!
Kelly ~ When I read what you are teaching these young people, I am astounded. You are one excellent teacher and the projects that you carry out are amazing. I totally admire what you do...as you can see!
Rebecca ~ Every time you share photos of Athena I get a big smile. You can see from her expressions that she knows that she is loved and so well cared for.
Machka ~ You have mentioned that many of the students are Asian so I would guess that the common names are from an Asian language.
Rori & Meg ~ So glad you were able to get together...good photo of the two of you.
That's all I can remember! Best wishes to all for a peaceful day!
Brother in Law who just had the heart bypass surgery is not doing well. They have him on a feeding tube and breathing tube and he is heavily sedated. Vital signs are good though. It seems that after the surgery, he was going through alcohol withdrawal. We had no idea that he drank that much as we have never seen that through all these years.

Rori: It is wonderful that you were able to connect with Meg. You both look fabulous and happy.
Rebecca: Your son’s “scooter” looks like a real motorcycle to my untrained eyes. Beautiful work! :flowerforyou:
Machka: Guessing last names, Smith and Jones.
Allie: Sorry that your plant fell and the pot broke. Let us know what you decide to do.
KJ: Thanks for your good wishes for DH. He’s scheduled to have a consultation with the surgeon and then they’ll set a date. I am hopeful that he will be feeling better before too long. :flowerforyou:
Beth: Your story about your DH’s back problem gives me hope. I am glad he’s doing so much better. I hope my DH will do as well as yours has done.
I had trouble sleeping last night so I sat down at my computer and cleared out my gmail messages. I am somewhat embarrassed at the number of messages I had missed. Now I have a relatively blank slate. Yay!!! Yoga this morning at 8 am, an hour from now. I am dressed and ready to go. I have time for breakfast with DH.

Ours is like that too. They'll email me to tell me if something is not in stock and their policy is that if they substitute for something more expensive, they pay the difference ... they don't raise the price. At a point in the ordering process I can go through and make notes. For example, there's one yogurt I only like the lemon flavour in, so I've made a note that if the lemon is not available, refund us rather than substitute ... and that's what they've done. I could also make notes about the level of ripeness of the bananas and all sorts.
Once a bottle of laundry stain spray ruptured in transit ... the driver offered to take the whole bag back and refund us, but we kept the other one or two items in that bag and he just took the spray. The next day I got an email about a refund.
They're really good.

rori and meg so good to see your smiling faces together! I’m a little jealous
Had a horrible nights sleep, the start of school scaries we’re keeping me up. Isn’t it funny, but I always get this way before a new school year and this one Is No different!
Kelly and Kim your posts always amaze and inspire me to be a harder worker!
DH has to have knees and shoulders looked at and mris scheduled. Knee replacement may be in his future, he really wants to be able to play soccer until they cart him away!
Hot, humid and stormy day ahead for me, will make the most of it. Gym time and fridge cleanup today!

Finally the Autism study is complete. It shows the causes as 0% from immunization,0% from what mom does during pregnancy 🤰 no matter what or birthing, 20% environmental, 80% 🧬 genetics. (Makes sense Asbestos was in the fake snow they used to sprinkle around the house, lead paints, crop dusting no one knew to go inside same with pesticides spraying trucks, etc etc)
Carol GA- This will make you surprised y chuckle ,I have Asian relatives Chinese,Vietnamese,y Filipino there names sound Hispanic,Caucasian,or Asian. My Cousin Richard for example is Filipino his Mom is Ola Maria. My one great Aunt is Ling ling a traditional name. I find it interesting how with internet to our countries being easier to access the names are evolving to be in every culture y race now. It’s beautiful to see. That how wars to conquering has introduced language to names have stayed in the culture like a fingerprint in time.
Rebecca- Your son could make a lot of money customizing bikes he designs himself they cost more than the store bought ones! The baby such a cutie!
Michele NC- I used shopping app I loved it then JR needed such specific things knowing Hubby doing shopping not me I went from a simple list to writing ✍️ a book 📖 for each trip lol...no flavored toothpaste or gels must be plain Colgate white paste!!! Or JR will not use it no substitutes!!! That’s what my list reads now lol. G Hughes hickory bbq sauce only 10cal do not substitute!!! Enough for me too not just you Skinless chicken 110cal if possible no sodium or .........,.... swear I still don’t get what I ask for sometimes. Lol I need a Hubby shopping app designed with extra space for long notes 📝.
Lisa AR- Glad the VA could help! Next trip to the VA they do sell cases of ensure anyone can buy it have to ask the cashier for it in the downstairs gift shop we stored it in the back because it takes up too much space out in front. It’s a great price used to buy it for family with cancer to eating issues. Diabetic men’s socks 🧦 (Women wear too) are as low as $2! Beats out Walmart even I get Dads there.
Heather UK- Yeah life sucks but I had the opposite realization I’m stubborn refused to let abusers to the world win. I feel if I stopped being happy or laughing then they won.So I enjoy life every time I’m over flowingly happy it’s a Bleep you to anyone who tried to tear me down! My kids Godmother well she chose depression route but now she’s starting to see it my way.
If lightheaded from abrupt stops while jogging maybe start to slowly slow down like a plane ✈️ coming in for a landing goes from fast to medium to slow to coasting then gently comes to a rest.Sounds like your heart rate too high a sudden stops like when you go from sitting to standing too fast.Increase your fluids y eat a sweet (can even carry a bag of fruit in your pocket with a piece of candy 🍬 for after the jog. Try it if still have issues I’d make a Doctor appointment.
USA 🇺🇸 has gone downhill on service 10 folds! Even healthcares in the drain. I had JR couldn’t see my provider because they weren’t covered after baby y surgery! They are no longer allowed to take cash if covered by certain insurance. Which is silly. Other doctors don’t want to touch someone else work.
USA 🇺🇸- Some stores not all have it where you can preorder groceries then pick it up in store later. Shop yourself.Order online certain items only have mailman deliver. Or an app where a stranger shops then drives it to you a 3rd party stranger (Uber like). If lucky 🍀 theirs a farm nearby or farmers market you can go to.
Meal planned today y walking y soccer ⚽️ with JR my backs sore again so being careful not to re-injure it since Peri makes muscles looser more prone to pulls .

Rebecca: Love both Athena, and your son’s wheels. I was a biker chick in a former life. DH was a Mod. Shades of West Side Story a la Quadriphenia.
Connie: (and others): Prayers and (((Hugs))).
Wrote a poem today.
Daily Choice
The trials of each day
We meet in our own way!
It all depends on how
we view the here and now.
If beauty’s what we seek,
our vision is unique,
and beauty in each eye
will, ultimately, spy.
Thus, let us make that choice
to raise a happy voice
as we positively quest
for good, or better, best!

Beth when we put new carpet in our basement we went for wool. Fortunately never of us are allergic to it. Our basement has little fresh air coming in. I wanted a carpet that did not give off the new carpet smell. I also used low votive paint.
If others of you are considering new carpet I do recommend wool. It can be a bit more, but I used to work in a chemical lab so I try to minimize my exposure to man made chemicals both in the products I use and in our home environment.
Unfortunately because of the plethora of man made chemical more and more people are becoming sensitive. When I was growing up perfume was common. Now many ask for a perfume free zone.

In a funk right now. I think it is the heat, the budget, and my DH having to have surgery. Heat can’t do anything about. Budget- we get money on the 3rd. Between bills and groceries and DH shopping, we are out of money by the 5th. Here it is only the 13th and no cash. So really bummed out.
We’ll bounce back. Just a bad month. I just have to get serious about budgeting and saying NO!

Today is National Prosecco Day!
"Today we celebrate and drink Prosecco, which is the most popular sparkling wine in the United States and is also the most popular wine in Italy, the country where it originated. Prosecco is made with Glera grapes, which were traditionally known as Prosecco grapes, and may also be made with grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir. It is principally made in the Veneto region of Italy, especially in the town of Valdobbiadene, where it got its start."
Amber - Philip is fine with what we're eating, he's just (so far) failed at the task of picking a week's worth of meals from the box of recipes and making sure we have the ingredients on hand. He agreed to do that if I'd do all the cooking. (Which is a good thing, because if we ate the way he does when I'm not around that would definitely not fit into my nutrition goals!) Hopefully we'll get there with a little more practice.
Katla - I got out of practice with those months of reporting daily on Noom but I'll get back in the swing of reporting here soon enough. Remembering to do it on the weekends has always been a bit of a challenge.
Tracey - If I thought for a minute that Philip was deliberately slacking with the knowledge that I'd do it myself if he did a bad enough job, I'd have pressed the issue long ago. But the truth is, if I weren't around he'd live in a pigsty and eat nothing but cereal and cookies, and he'd be perfectly content. So I've been willing to accept that about him and take the lead on household administration tasks.
Rori - Your pool party sounds like great fun! I keep thinking about trying to organize a block party here. We know the neighbors across the street, but that's it.
Rebecca - Love the scooter! I'll bet it's fun to drive. Maybe when I'm too old to ride the motorcycle I'll trade it in for a scooter and terrorize the neighborhood.
Connie - You and your mom are in my thoughts.
Allie - You are made of sterner stuff than I am... I'd never have been able to go back to sleep after hearing a crash! Bet you can find a cute replacement vessel for your air plant at a thrift shop. A teapot? A sugar bowl? An old bucket or boot?
Barbie - I love that your husband shops with you! That gives me an idea about the meal planning thing. Maybe I need to do it for a couple of weeks but sit him down next to me and talk him through what I'm doing. He does most of the grocery shopping because the studio in Austin is next door to a grocery store, but sometimes we go together on days when we're both off work.
Carol - I'm sorry to hear your brother-in-law isn't doing well. You and your family are in my thoughts.
Just enjoyed a nice spinach and chicken breast salad with the BEST chevre from the farmer's market. It's left over from my dinner last night when Philip was working late. Might have made myself a mimosa if we'd had any prosecco, but it's probably just as well we didn't!
It looks like I am going to have a short work day today for the first time in, oh, several months. Philip is off today so maybe if we can bear the heat we'll get that catio installed today.

Terri ... love your post today!
Margaret ... I didn't consider wool. Can wool carpet take excessive traffic and moisture? The area we put the carpet down is the first entrance into our home from the garage (and the weather) and the place where our son does a lot of turning with his motorized wheelchair.
NYKaren ... I have no school supplies to buy, yet found myself fingering .25 spiral notebooks at Walmart today. Something about office supplies ... I've always found that those who do well at their jobs are often those who get nervous as well because what they do and how they do it matters to them.
Carol ... I, too, am sorry to hear your brother-in-law is struggling.
Conni ... thinking about you and your mom.
Tonight I am making a "Chicken Pozole Salad" (https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/chicken_posole_salad/) for my husband and I for dinner. We'll see how well my meat and potato man accepts a dinner salad. He's game to try things once. We'll see.
Machka ... 14 people ... I don't know what the names would be.

Update on Trentin: I finally heard from his mom. She called me this morning and said that Thursday evening Trentin ran away from home. They found him at a local 24 hour grocery store. She hasn't been able to go into work because he has been ranting and trying to run away. She took him in to his doctor yesterday and the doctor gave her a referral for a psych eval for him. The pediatrician thinks it is a reaction to the new add/adhd meds that he is on, but want the psychiatrist to evaluate him before they change meds again. Ugh! I feel so awful for them both! Of course I told her to let me know what she needs and that I am available when she goes back to work. Geez! He is only eight! It might sound weird, but I am hoping it is a reaction to meds and not something else going on.9
-
Kelly ~ So sorry to hear about Trentin! And, sorry for him mom...she must be worried sick.
Carol in GA1 -
Carol in GA: So sorry about DBIL. Be glad he is in a safe and protected place to detox from alcohol. It can be brutal.
Machka I'm floored by what an organizer charges in Oz. I have to research this in my area, as if I were ever to hang out my shingle as a sole proprietor, that's a job I could do. My guess: 20 people, with 3 named Chu.
KJ: Horrible news about Trentin. Did you find him different since changing meds?
Bath makeover hit a glitch today, but seems it has been worked out. Shower will be done today, but we can't use for about 3 days because the glue has to dry. 😒😒😒 Tomorrow my handyman Reuben will be in to change out the countertop and sink faucet. If I get my act together, he will repaint the walls this week. Can't decide on a color.... white is the default, as I know I will be adorning the walls with bold and bright nature photography from my niece's vast portfolio.
So, it's back to internet for a little color inspiration. Stay well friends. We can do this.

Painted the walls a color called daylight.
Beth we got a low nap fine striped pattern so it does not show the dirt. It is not Berber. You do have to clean wool differently than man made carpet. Because ours is in the basement we did have to get a special kind of pad that breaths to help with any moisture issues. We have had it about a year now and it looks great.
I don't know how well it would stand up to a wheel chair. I know it does bounce back well from furniture. I would think with an entry to the outside and with the wheel chair a hard floor like tile or laminate would be the way to go then switch to carpet with a low nap if you like carpet once you are in your home.
Did this in painting on Monday inspired by the mandela rock painting class:

Rori ~ Thanks for your good thoughts for my brother-in-law. They are keeping him sedated.
Remodeling: My house is 30+ years and the kitchen and bathrooms have never been remodeled. I would love to get the tub removed in my bath and just have an easy step-in shower. But, I have absolutely no idea about decorating after that. The kitchen has had new appliances and new flooring, but, the cabinets need replacing/refinishing. No idea about colors and lighting as it seems like everything in my house lends itself to the antiques my husband's family left us with and no way DH will part from them. I don't even go into the living room or dining room. We have some beautiful things; but, at this age, I don't know how to decorate so that everything does not look like we are living in a museum.

Hi gang. I am home safe and sound, despite falling asleep once driving home YIKES. I had already had a nap on the way, so at the next exit I got off and bought 2 energy shots (I swore I would never drink that poison!) and that did the trick....a little too well; I couldn't sleep last night!
As you saw, Rori and I had a late lunch/early dinner at the Bonefish Grill. YUM. Her husband and brother were there and we had a great time. Her husband looked just the way I always imagined him and was delightful. Her brother is really funny.
My visit was great. We laughed every day until the tears were running down my face! It really made a difference spending the night 1/2 way on Thursday, because I was not exhausted the whole weekend. Driving 9+ hours, sitting in the visiting room for 3, driving another 30 minutes to the cousin's house...OMG it took a week to catch up just from that. But each day I felt great. DH's leg is still bothering him somewhat nearly 2 months after he tore that muscle. But it is getting better each day. I only gained 2 pounds, and I think really it's the salt because all day in the prison, the only available food is from the vending machines. So I'm piling on the water and think it will be gone soon.
It's beautiful here but I must stay inside and work. bleh! I stayed home from work today hee hee hee. Well it will be all piled up waiting for me tomorrow.
Take care everyone! Glad to be back here! Meg from Omaha9 -
OMG I just noticed...that's quite the face I am making! Not sure what that's about!2

Getting my walk in but HRs building a wall of toys so for how long lol.
Beth - Good recipe I think I can tweek it make a meal .
KJ- Hard at his age to get medication level with growth spurts to surges of hormones it will be hard for them until they stumble on the correct meds luckily or his growth y hormones level out.ADHD causes pre-teen y teen hormonal feelings to be so magnified . Luckily law enforcement to the medical profession understands more about the condition than ever before, but it will be a few more generations until they perfect childhood treatments.Schools well haven’t caught up in every area yet. Here’s hoping he gets what he needs.Luckily ADHD adults hold jobs to are more calm since medication work better then. The behavior now is not permanent it will be a blip in time someday. My Daughter serves with members with ADHD so it does improve a lot. Finding a babysitter who has had a bipolar/ schizophrenic /special needs child’s her best bet they’ll be more calm know tricks tell her behavior updates. Or like my Coworker who had 2 sons with it did she had to leave them with family members to go to work.Just an iPad y their school bags with grandpa.

KJ: Your shopping strategy is brilliant. Thank you for your kind words for DH. I hear your concern for Trentin. It could be meds, but it also could be something less easy to fix. I hope it turns out well.
Beth near Buffalo: Thank you for the encouragement. DH has had three back surgeries in the past. The first two were at back of his neck near the base. The third was above the small of his back. This will be #4 if the surgeon recommends it. We don’t have a clear understanding of what they plan to do as of yet. There will be a meeting with the surgeon in a week or so to make a plan. :flowerforyou:
Rori: We’ve had white walls in various homes in the past. You can make very bold statements with white and a contrasting color. Enjoy your changes!
Rori’s project reminded me of a painting project long ago. When I was a teen, my mom painted my bedroom pure white, put up crimson curtains and added a matching crimson bed spread. It was great. When the sunlight hit the windows the red curtains turned the whole room a lovely pink. Opening the curtains revealed the walls were white. It is coming a bit late, but thanks again, Mom!
