Happy Friday, All.
Thank you to everyone who welcomed me. I hope to be an active member of these boards. I was up today at 4:30am to make it to my 5:30am spin class. I love getting my workout out of the way early. Plus I get a lot of energy from it. However, by 3pm, I am the one in the office yawning and thinking about how I can sneak in a nap. I am trying to get back on track after a summer with my daughter who is in college. She went back to school last weekend, so I am not trying to eat healthy and get to the gym every week day.
Michele: I haven't heard of Personal Training w/ Jackie DVD. Would you recommend? Would I have a love/hate relationship with the DVD?
Machka: I am lucky to only experience night sweats. Not sure my DH feels the same when I drop the A/C so that I don't wake up in a puddle. But, I'm now at an age where I don't seem to get the night sweats often. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
I love the pantry conversation. I have two pantries and both are a disorganized mess. You'd think that as a librarian I'd be better, but I'm not. sigh. Someday.
Have a great day, Everyone!

Friday -- Another weekend ... thank goodness!
I was struggling getting through work today, but did manage to get something done which I've been hesitant about. I work with databases and had to delete a large set of records and reload them. Never like doing that. But I pulled together my courage today, and did it. Seems all right. I've also got myself organised for the week ahead. It's been so busy since last December.
Got a few personal things done as well, including picking up a Wahoo TickrX!! It's a heart rate monitor ... on steroids! I'll try it tomorrow, but if it works, it should track my motion, cadence, and heart rate when I walk/run on the treadmill and store that data for 16 hours ... which gives me ample time to load it and ideally connect it to Strava. In fact, if everything works the way I'm hoping, I might even be able to connect it to Zwift and thus walk or run on Zwift!
Dozed off on the bus, as usual. I'm just that tired by the end of the day ... end of the week.
Happily, however, when I leave work now, the sun has not set! By the end of August, I might even arrive home before the sun sets or close to it. That would be wonderful! I would love to start walking to the beach in at least a bit of daylight after work again.
This evening I've been slowly working my way through little things on my list.
Tomorrow (August 24) is my husband's and my 11th wedding anniversary!!
I gave him a gardening book and he gave me a cute little blue tea pot for my evening tea. Tomorrow we'll go out to dinner.
This is my husband's and my Wedding Album. He's Australian, I'm Canadian and we "met" online, then in person in France on a very long bicycle ride, called the Paris-Brest-Paris, 16 years ago. If you'd like to hear the rest of the story, I can tell you that.

A lot of the wonderful women on this thread have already read it, but if the newer people are interested in my autobiography of my early years, and the abuse, I have put the details in the spoiler. I am now writing the years from 9 - 17.ME I AM by Heather Eyles.
Available on Kindle or as a paperback. Just look on Amazon and type in the whole thing.

Morning, afternoon and evening all...
Debby - as has already been said, please don't worry about dredging up bad memories. They exist, no dredging changes that. Just so much empathy and sympathy for your daughter, and for you. When my daughter was being abused, she was in Germany with the Army, and I couldn't help even a small amount--I'm glad you can offer support to your daughter. She continues to deal with the one I call the "crapweasel sperm donor" every Christmas, Thanksgiving and summer vacation, and it never gets easy.
My goal for the month was to exercise five days a week at the gym, and I've made that every single week for the last four... very pleased with myself, and that I have only, across the whole month, talked myself out of it on one single day, and I made up for that by going in on Saturday.
Heather - loved the pics of you and your DH. Your smile just glows off the screen...
On a Friday vacation day, third of eight Fridays in a row. Want to get started on my niece's quilt and my grandson-to-be's quilt today. We'll see how far I get!
Love y'all,

(((Amber))) Glad to hear your daughter is getting help. It is traumatic for all of you. My trauma is different from yours but I find setting up routines and getting to my exercise class, painting, gardening, and singing are my therapies. Sometimes you just need a mental break from all of it. This group is a wealth of support and information.
He is preying where she is most vulnerable her son. She is right she should never be alone with him nor their son. Whatever she needs to do to protect herself and her son she needs to do now. The stronger she can make herself physically, mentally, and legally the better chance she will have to stand up to him. Get those pictures to police and court. Make police and courts accountable too.
He is a bully and bullies like to prey on those they perceive weaker than themselves. Agree with Lisa assessment!

KJ & Machka: Hot flashes ae happily in my past. My doctor provided me meds for the hot flashes, but after a short experiment with them I chose to go “cold turkey.” I didn’t do at all well with birth control pills as a young woman either. I found that I preferred a diaphragm for birth control and cold turkey for “the change.” I hope that you will both find a way through this that is comfortable for you.
Heather: I have long been impressed with your survival from a bad situation in childhood. I think your story with help others. :flowerforyou:
Lisa in AR: Happy quilting!
(((Amber)))
Yoga today! Yay!!! I am planning to nag DH to get pain meds from his doctor. He needs something other than whiskey. It is crazy expensive and not the basis of a healthy lifestyle. I’m sure the doctor will provide the meds if asked.

Well done!!
Strava has a challenge up to do that for 4 weeks in September ... and I've joined the challenge. I have to exercise in a way that can be tracked for 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for 4 weeks. That's part of the reason I got the new heart rate monitor.

Go with a city or university gym ... much less likely to close. I won't touch private gyms anymore.

Has anyone heard from Janet in OKA?
Michele ~ Christmas is four months away! Why don't you treat yourself to an Instant Pot before then...you will love it.
Machka ~ Happy 11th anniversary. Our 50th will be on Monday.
Amber ~ Great accomplishment on the weight loss and on you & daughter's survival. So glad you found the hubby who is now making your life happy.
Lanette ~ Wishing you a very successful surgery next week. Sorry your husband is feeling so stressed.
Pantry: My husband keeps ours organized and makes lists for me to fill at the grocery. I tend to buy duplicates of the same thing because I forget that we already have the item.
Everyone have an excellent Friday!

Heather said‘I tend to slather it on quite thickly. ’
Machka: That’s quite a fairytale romance. Love the lakeside? Venue.
Katla: My doctor prescribed HRT for menopause but it didn’t sit well with me. I used aromatherapy and yogic breathing to alleviate symptoms.1 -
My normal BMI supposed to be 145kbs y under so a ways to go still I’m 160.2kbs this morning.
Debby- Not a big deal my abuse is way behind us now. Been happily married along time now Daughter y me survived worked on our futures! I’m Baptist openly again! Woohoo! It’s a fact that the large portion of those with weight problems are children or escapees of abuse. It can cause the weight to stick around due to stress y eating to soothe the pains. Luckily I had weight needed to be gained after lol soars me a healthy weight for years. Of course a baby in old age unravels that body like a ticking time bumb.
Luci- Yup the eyes are the window to the soul. Shows it all.
Debby- My Lawyer went to court without me a lot common place in abuse divorces they only needed me twice in over 3years (of course I was a different situation everyone I knew divorced an abuser in 1day-6months). He can sign away his rights during mediation through lawyers present they put the victim sitting near the door exit. Or judge can let him sign at the hearing have the lawyer have it handy. The jobs y her can get protective or restraining orders he goes to jail for showing up he can sit y think multiple times until he gives up bosses are supportive now of days. Any advice you need ask cause trust me if we can escape a worse situation you can get her out! I have over 3+ years of divorce court experience lol 😂 from visitation gone wrong to asking for school transfer to a bribe in front of the judge for abuser to not hurt Daughter...seeing him accept the bribe he got reduced visitation that was so worth it he never used it. Would have cost him over $500 for 30minutes every 2 weeks he’d pay again. Counseling’s a blessing she’ll love it they can help her with advice on how to bond to son y have open conversation that won’t hurt court orders y they can do so much. Kid starts to open like a flower her too. Family counseling helps to my family attended a few times so they could learn also so go with them a few times ask questions you got from how to I approach his nightmares to questions. By now the I’ll hit you threat is old isn’t it since go back get hit ...or leave get hit threats that will be harder to carry out. Ooooh such a tough choice think easy to choose leave happily with a skip in your steps . Plus he hits now y especially after lawyers obtained makes restraining/protective orders so easy Custody too. Also makes it easier to put him in jail for a long time which means peace. Signing rights away in some states means no visitation y no child support but worth it to fully cut ties 100%! Not like he will pay child support anyways with his behaviors. Let him be estranged (refuses to use child visitation can go back get him off papers if he does in many states)even lock him up for non-payments. Maybe he’ll learn something but doubt it. Plus makes it easier if she remarries for him to sign away rights so she can move anywhere do anything happily like me. With luck she’ll find a loving hubby like mine we’ve been married along time now had JR it’s wonderful to be Free.
Karen - Warren Jeff’s Mormon Church I escaped extreme Apostolic Pentecostal one. Think Don’t drink the Koolaid Jim Jones who was Apostolic Pentecostal who got his ministry position decades later in the Methodist church taught Apostolic Pentecostal beliefs with a crazy ending. Lol now I wear pants up a storm to shirt hair y ❤️ LOVE It! My new Hubby says ask you shall receive so I ask get it chopped off a lot lol 😆. So refreshing to get the trims! He lets me wear what I want he’s getting used to me wearing no bra y happily bouncing along lol 😂. https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/9-things-know-jim-jones-jonestown-massacre/?amp
Poor sleep last night was setting up the new toy Hubby bought JR. Doing while JR slept way easier! He came home with an iPod for him...more electronic to forget to charge lol.
Today nachos y sandwich 🥪 with homemade guacamole y 4oz tea. Granola y dryers 70cal fudge pop for fun should be under calories by a few but that’s okay.
Why I’m hard to get depressed - If you’ve survived the worse then you appreciate the smaller things in life way way way more! Couldn’t get me down if you tried my Mom got to see me safe before she died so I have memories of her with new hubby. She could die peacefully knowing that. Hubby was by her bedside a lot near the end something many men don’t do. He’s my soul mate .

Hi Gals,
Panty envy!
Kim from N. California
So the silly little 10 year old who still lives inside my brain got a giggle with this typo! LOL!
Amber my "pantry" turns out to be just one of several places to store food. It's scattered throughout my cupboards! While I don't have children at home now, I actually provided childcare for 3 growing boys years ago (nothing like Kelly!!) as well as my own 2 sons. You make do! Now that it's just my husband and I, it's plenty.
Pip ... change of hours and no phone work ... this is good, right?
I'm waiting for a Verizon technician to arrive and upgrade our internet/router. My intent last night was to reduce our monthly expenses. Somehow that changed into a new contract with upgraded equipment and internet speeds. With all the specials/bundles/and smooth talk, my monthly bill went up $4.00. Sigh. But, according to my chat representative last night, my family "is just going to love it!" One positive ... knowing a service man had to go into the basement sent me on a speed declutter/throw out mission so he could get to the equipment he needs to work on!

Hello ladies.
I was dog sitting all week and I gained a pound. It matters because now I have four to lose for the Labor Day challenge in about ten days. Two meals out are planned for that time. I guess it means that my home routine is really good. I missed my fiber goal and got extra hungry. I suppose I can't give up yet but four pounds in ten days will be tough.
