Today was the elliptical -
3423 steps
330 cals
avg 135 bpm heart rate
20 minutes at peak rate
avg 9.4 cals/min (shooting for 10)
total 35 minutes.
After we're both showered (I'm still cooling down), we're off to drive up into the Ozarks, see a little fall color, lunch out if we can find something, and check out a lake we haven't seen before.
Later, y'all,

Good morning ladies.
Thank you for your support. My sluggishness slowly turned into indigestion, so it all makes more sense now. My fault for over-eating treats, as I have a delicate system. Anyway, I feel better today.

I also woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed after yesterday's slump. Weather yesterday foul. Weather today bright and beautiful.
Went for my 5k run. Sea like a mirror after huge waves yesterday. Loads of people out for a post prandial stroll.
I did my morning exercise first thing and then DID SOME WRITING.
Perfect day really.

Lanette - In the province of Albert the base rates for all nursing homes. Each facility can add extras as they see fit. We are a not for profit nursing home. The only additional charges we have are laundry, cable, and personal care supplies. The government also will top up a seniors benefit if necessary to ensure they have 200 a month left after their accommodations are paid. There are other much pricier homes available but there none cheaper. Ours is pretty nice we are going through upgrades and have been working hard to come up with new things for the residents.
Kim - Sorry to read your boss is leaving, the unknown of what you are going to get is always a stressful time. Hopefully your next one is just as nice.
Lisa - I worked with a man who used the pickup option whenever he was able to. He swore it saved him money as he only got what was on his list and didn’t see other things to throw in the cart.
Machka- that must be a relief to have that ride event finished. Good luck on your exam.
Kelly - I never did well on tests or exams as a student and I hated the whole school environment I did everything I could to get out of doing until I finally quit before starting grade 11. Since that time have gone back and taken my GED in the states where it was the imperial system in math compared to the metric system I had learned in Canada and passed it all with 95% and above. I then took a general accounting and computer course and again passed it all. I think the atmosphere in adult education was more geared towards my learning methods. I can’t speak to the States but here in Canada I think the education system needs a revamp.
Beautiful photos, thanks for sharing. How fortunate you are to have such views.
Okie - I just love the costumes! What a great idea!
I have an unexpected day all to myself and I’m going to take advantage to do a major clean. I love being alone and cleaning, no one is in my way, I can crank the music and go to town! When Rodger gets home from work I’ll have to go to Walmart and get a few things for groceries this week.
I think before I take the garbage out I am going to sort through it and see if I can find my list ring in it. I fear if I don’t do that and don’t find it somewhere else I will always regret not doing it.

Our life is very simple. We find going to Costco and WalMart and the grocery store very pleasant outings together. We notice what's on the shelves but only buy what's on our list. It's a pleasant indoor walk and a nice change of scenery. I am very fussy about what I buy and don't want to trust someone else to pick things out for me.
I have been listening to a wonderful new podcast called "The Happiness Lab with Dr. Laurie Santos". I highly recommend it. I found it on iTunes. I guess I'm a fan of happiness because two other favorite podcasts are "10% Happier with Dan Harris" and "Happier with Gretchen Rubin".

Tracey~ I would love to work in a nursing home.. but most of the ones in the US are for profit and it is disgusting..
Portland where my DFIL was is for profit, but as I was there daily I advocated for all his needs , and if I didnt like how something was handled I made sure it was taken care of..
I will be stopping this week to see about volunteering, and looking into other work.I can for sure get references for any eldercare work that is true.. and it seems to be my calling.. so will investigate further.3 -

I;m looking forward to breakfast cooked by DH and a good day. We are one pumpkin short for the kids to carve when they get here. One that we bought turned out to be rotting. Yuck. We’re going to replace it today.

I must admit I've done something that does NOT encourage me getting my steps in, but makes me sooooo much happier. I've started putting online orders at Walmart and picking them up. Impressed by the service. Even added potatoes and onions this time, and they picked out terrific ones, ones I'm quite pleased with. At least an hour of time saved hunting down weird things all over the massive store (disposable nitrile gloves and a spray bottle this time) and possibly not even finding them, in the end. And, as I think of things, I can put them in the shopping app on my phone, and that way fewer things get missed out in my overall distraction.
. I figure I can use that time saved to work in the yard or go to the gym, so I'm fine with it. I had refused to try it until my best friend did in Montana, but she loved it, so I gave it a shot.
Love y'all!
Lisa in ARI love our grocery delivery service. It is such a time saver.
Recently we've learned that my husband's favourite hardware store is planning to start a similar delivery service ... that will be handy for him! And probably me as well, because we go there just about every weekend!

My niece loves the Walmart pickup. She has two small children under three and she can grab her pickup without taking them out of their car seats. I’ve never tried it. Our local grocery store has it, too. I’m glad the option is there in case I ever need it.
My father will see the doctor tomorrow to determine if there’s anything more to do for his jaw. My guess is that there is nothing to do but let it heal.
Today is my 65th birthday. I attended an area church meeting this afternoon, the District Superintendent announced my birthday and they all sang to me. It was quite nice. Dave is cooking us steak for supper.

Happy Birthday, Kay!
Kelly ... the Great Lakes are awesome. Love your photos!
Cool, dreary day here in Western New York. Other than church and preparing meals, got very little accomplished. Needing to make some changes. Thinking about how to best make them.
