Thanks all- for the compliments on the lake pics. While reading comments and coming across those about the pics, I mentally thought of how very lucky those of us who live by water (fresh water for me) really are. Then I realized, I don't think I have EVER listed the lake in my gratitude journal. I did so immediately; but now I am curious; in all of the things I am grateful for, could I have possibly forgotten about the water? Now, I am going to have to go back and skim my entries for the past couple years. lol1 -
Anniesquat-Have the dr. do a B12 blood test. I had the same problem and my B12 was almost depleted. I have to take pills and get a shot every month. The dr. said all the results were good and B12 was where he wanted it.

More sagas from California –
Well my friends who got evacuated from Healdsburg (Kincaid fire) went to Rohnert Park (a town 32 miles south of the fire) to stay with friends, they got told to evacuate again, and are now in San Jose (123 miles south of the fire) staying with their daughter. That is a great place for them plenty of bedrooms, and they can settle in for the long haul. Their SIL will be fed up in about 3 days, but he will cope – he’s a great guy.
I lost power for about 2.5 hours this morning, and was really glad to have this “practice run” I made a few changes and will be looking for a backup battery for my cell phone. As PG&E says to expect this all month and then every time there is bad weather as they upgrade the system – this upgrade is to take 10 years - I am not confident that they can stay focused that long.
I also checked on my older neighbor and am so glad I did, she is 74 years old and healthy but so easily confused, she has never been that good about learning something new, or remembering something, but with age it’s worse. And she is both overly trusting and afraid of everything (weird I know)! So she believed that a power outage meant evacuation and that someone would come door to door to tell her where to go. I got her straightened out -I hope and made sure another neighbor knew we had to look out for her. She had moved everything out of a file cabinet into piles for the evacuation as they were her “important papers”. I think she thought evacuation would be to a hotel. I will be checking with the folks I would try to stay with if I needed to evacuate to see if I can just bring her along, her cat too.

Happy birthday Kay! Sounds like a good day.
Noticed several comments about yesterday being a low energy day-it must have been something in the air-I felt the same way. Got a few things done, but on the whole just relaxed. Today was busy-church all morning due to a special service. Then drove over an hour away for twin grandsons' birthday party. It was fun. The cake was good (and I logged it). Got back home after 4 after leaving at 8 this am. Got to FaceTime with son in Arizona when I got back--saw those two grandkids. Then got some clean up done that should have been tended to yesterday. Have lunch packed for tomorrow so now I think I am off to bed-still feeling tired tonight.

Just some thoughts from today's power outageEmergency Preparation, FINAL bit
Of course do all the things on any emergency preparation list, but when your go bag is ready, and you have a plan, now it’s time for that emergency – depending on the nature of the emergency you may have some notice, possibly just a few minutes; if that’s the case don’t read this. But if you are waiting on evacuation orders, or maybe it’s a small neighborhood power outage, now what?
So realize your house phone will not work unless it is a corded phone and is a true land line, not provided via your TV/internet cable. You can verify this by turning the power off to your home and try a corded phone plugged right into the phone jack on the wall, if you have service you’re good to go. Depending on the type and size of the emergency you may want to use that land line and not drain your phone’s battery. Call the folks you need to telling them your plan where you are headed and how to contact you, make this short and simple as everyone else in your area wants to make calls and the system; believe it or not; can get log jammed.
I made a list of things I could do without power- and sorted them into needs daylight or needs limited light - a couple of the things on my needs daylight list were weed the side yard, dust the house and get rid of cobwebs inside and out. On my limited light list was address Christmas cards, and strip the dried lavender off the stems. My first reaction to no power was but I had so much I wanted to do that won’t get done, that was true but the side yard is completely weeded and I am so happy looking out the window seeing that it got done. Depending on your list the limited light items might be good for while watching a movie or TV show too.
The other thing I did was walk the house moving things that are on the floor to leave as much open space as possible, it will be easier to SAFELY walk around in the pitch black if there are no tripping hazards. I also put a battery powered candle in each bathroom. They are not a lot of light but just enough to help you get/keep your bearings.
If you have power strips between your electronic devices and the wall outlet (which you should) be sure to turn the power strip off.
This is not a complete list but was what I came up with during our 2.5 hour power outage today8 -

Terri – you may have to shut off your phone and then turn it back on for the time to right itself, I don’t know.
Lisa – I’m sure what you’ve written is fantastic. It always is, so why should this be any different?

Our life is very simple. We find going to Costco and WalMart and the grocery store very pleasant outings together. We notice what's on the shelves but only buy what's on our list. It's a pleasant indoor walk and a nice change of scenery. I am very fussy about what I buy and don't want to trust someone else to pick things out for me.

Mitch and I consider shopping together one of our hobbies! He plans the route and I have the coupons and lists and off we go!
Our daughter uses the Wal-Mart app and pick up. We shop at Aldi, Kroger, Sam's Club and Wal-Mart. Depends on needs and sales.

Kim - that is a very smart list. I grew up in an area that we lost power during storms a lot but have only had one power outage in 20 years in Alberta, that was when someone hit a power transformer on our block.
I found my ring!!!! I decided to try searching the couch one more time before going through the garbage. I used a wooden spoon instead of my arm in the hole in the dust cover I had cut under the couch and lo and behold I found it and a loonie. For those that don’t know a loonie is a Canadian 1.00 coin.
I have a spotless house tonight after cleaning from one end to the other today. I then went and bought a few groceries after Rodger got home from work.

My father will see the doctor tomorrow to determine if there’s anything more to do for his jaw. My guess is that there is nothing to do but let it heal.
Today is my 65th birthday. I attended an area church meeting this afternoon, the District Superintendent announced my birthday and they all sang to me. It was quite nice. Dave is cooking us steak for supper.
