Viv, I love your kitchen pictures. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. Also will be interested in hearing about how you feel when you use the new kitchen. About sinks--one of the first places I lived was in the Bachelor Officers Quarters at Naha Air Force Base in Okinawa. I had a stove and refrigerator in an alcove in the one room residence. I cooked many interesting meals for myself and guests but had to wash my dishes in the bathtub. I still appreciate my kitchen sink because of that experience.

I subbed in a second grade room on Tuesday it was a challenging yet a rewarding day. There was a little boy who was more disruptive than others. I did try to give more attention to the ones his was trying to get into trouble with him. One technique I use is I say to the child that is being lured into trouble is I am so proud of you for not getting into trouble. That pulls them up short. What I found interesting was when I was correcting some hall behavior the boy I was talking about earlier immediately thought I was talking about him. I wasn't. Sometimes I have to walk a fine line on discipline because students are trying to get attention for the wrong reasons.
I did get a remark from the custodian he thought the children took advantage of me because there were five pencils left on the floor. I did go around at the end of the day and encouraged children to pick up there spots. According to him their teacher does not let anyone leave until all is picked up. I did respond and say that the children did not take advantage of me. I long ago made peace with children will act differently with me than their teacher. I throw them out of their routine and the will not be picture perfect. To have a spotless floor is the choice of that teacher not mine. I actually like to have a few things to pick up at the end of the day because it calms me after the students leave. If the floors are a total mess I do have strategies to get those floors picked up. Everyone pick up ten things. Magic scrap. I eye one thing on the floor and the one who picks it up gets a small prize. This room was not that bad at the end of the day.
This custodian made this comment after I had waited with two other teachers for forty five minutes for a late bus. I did not have to wait. I waited because one of the students I worked with was on this bus. It is my rule that I will not leave the buses until all the students I work with are on their bus. Otherwise I would have been back in the room and had those few things left on the floor picked up before he came.
The point of the story for me is you cannot control the audience all you can do is decide what are your priorities and act accordingly.
After his comment he did try to engage me in a conversation. Needless to say I was too busy to chat. I did thank him for he work in cleaning the room and left it at that.
I am reminded of a popular saying here DON'T LET PERFECTION BE THE ENEMY OF GOOD.

Hi all!
Enjoyed my supermarket delivery today. I got an email yesterday for 15% off so got going with huge piles of toilet rolls, kitchen towel, washing up liquid, bleach, AF beer etc etc that are a drag to trundle home from the supermarket in my trolley. Also got some cuts of meat for the freezer that I can't easily buy locally. Nice to have a supply stashed away.
I've just cooked a chicken, lentil, spinach and pea curry for this evening in the Instant Pot. Yes, Viv, I love mine, but there is a learning curve to make the most of it. I recommend the many different Facebook groups, the App, and lots of YouTube videos. Sites like Twosleevers, Pressureluck, Thisoldgal, AmyandJackie are great. There are many others. I use mine almost every day, sometimes just to make yoghurt, boil some eggs, or cook a few new potatoes for DH. Otherwise I have made cheesecake, egg bites, and loads of stew type recipes. I keep anything I like the look of in my Bookmarks on my tablet under a separate file. I have a very long list! Skinnytaste also has IP suggestions which I have used successfully and there are keto and slimming groups on IP Facebook. For me I like being able to cook when I feel like it and then it keeps it warm. Set and forget. Plus, if you are in a hurry, it does it fairly quickly.
The trick for me is to use the minimum amount of water you can get away with.
Now I've had a short nap and I'm going to row for half an hour.

JanetR: Happy 70! So sorry to hear about the loss of your sister.
I went to see DD and family in Illinois. It was lovely. I loved the farm and their happiness. Unfortunately, I caught a massive sinus infection from DGS 1, and I’m still fighting it. I am just about to finish up a second round of antibiotics. I am finally starting to feel a bit better.
Now my DS, DDIL and DGS are visiting us. They came for Halloween and are still here for a few more days. I’ve been running myself ragged doing fun activities with them, despite the antibiotics. The other day we took a trip into the Columbia Gorge. We stopped at the fish ladder and saw some beautiful tiny blue fish. This is not salmon season they’re all up in their tiny streams, with tiny smolts eating and growing for the spring salmon run in a few months. The tiny fish we saw were a different species. We also stopped at Multnomah Falls, a beautiful and historic spot along the Columbia Gorge. A few years ago a teen aged boy from the state of Washington set a fire in the park that burned hundreds of ancient trees, and scarred the land for generations to come and even destroyed some human homes that were not inside the park. The trees will eventually reseed, but it will take more than a hundred years or more to for the land to heal and return to its former beauty.
The kids are still here and we’re thinking of fun things to do. Right now, my son, the dog and I are the only ones awake.

back at work, it's 7:29am... don't start til 8.
one thing i noticed, kirby isn't as fast as he used to be on these long runs, i feel for him. i had to stop and slow down 4 times during the run so i could stay with him. he STILL did under a 10min mi which is very impressive anyway. when i saw the 1st place finishers time in my age group, i KNOW i would have beat her if i hadn't had waited for kirby, i feel good knowing that anyway. one more run in december (seattle's jingle bell run) and that's it for the year. we didn't do too bad for not doing any serious training for it. i think we did 2 long runs but that was about it5 -

Cestabrook- After multiple surgeries in 3months time everything that worked for me for years stopped.Found new ways still am y walking around the living room. I started reading 📖 serving sizes with calories everything article to youtube I could find read around here on my fitness pal. Then created a new plan. My Ranch dressing from name brand high calorie type changed to one I never heard of 0cal Walden farms found 2 flavors I like. Went from high calorie bbq sauce to G Hughes 10calories. Stopped using many seasonings realizing I was over doing salts. Etc etc even changed my ice cream to Sugarfree fudge pops

So far behind, not even going to try to catch up on reading. Monday spent the day shopping and stocking up. Filled our camper freezer and another the ranger let’s us use. Good for the month now.
Tuesday spent the day with the 22 year old ranger girl who I’ve adopted. We had a blast. First, my DH and the park supervisor went to our storage unit and loaded the super’s truck with a couch and dresser we sold to Kerri (the young-un). The boys delivered and set them up while the girls hit the town and played tourist. Had a ball!
Yesterday went to the doctor for follow up on my BP meds. We hit a hasty place there, reviewed blood work and got rave comments About the results. In a happy place!
Watching Fiddler on the Roof that I stumbled on flipping channels. Cold yucky today but will do wash later among other stuff.

Good morning. I stayed home from work yesterday -- I think I ate something off on Tuesday in the college cafeteria. But I am better today.
I reached out to the headhunter a couple days ago, and she said that it could be the end of November before I hear anything. The search committee is meeting this week. She will meet with them next week, and then it's Thanksgiving week, so I am just going to hold tight. At least she did move my application to the search committee, so that's something!
Middle son had a bit of a breakdown last week, but he says he is back on track this week. His grades will not be great, or maybe even good, this semester because of it, but I encouraged him to get help, talk to his professors, and do his best to salvage the semester. I feel so bad that my kids suffer so much with mental health issues. I know they are not alone, but it's hard for me not to feel jealous when I look around and see other kids their ages just doing what they are supposed to be doing without all of the mental drama involved at my house.
My mil has also caused unnecessary drama this week. She received notification that her benefits would be caught off unless she conducted the required yearly review, and she blew it off. So they cut her off. She told my step son that she didn't have to do it "because of my current situation." She is in hospice. Who does she think is paying for the hospice care???? My land. I thought my husband was going to have a complete melt down. As it is he pays the gap that her benefits don't cover. What did she think, he asked me, that he was just going to start paying everything? She probably did. When we were cleaning her house, I found a letter she wrote to my husband when he was 19. He had decided to get married, and she was trying to talk him out of it. Part of her argument, besides the one that "how can you become president if you are married" (????), included a list of her monthly expenses. "I can't work, and I just don't know how I will be able to make it if you aren't able to pay these. You know I'm not able to work." I mean really. He had told me some of this by way of explaining why he dropped out of college after one term when he was 18, but I really didn't believe it. She has expected him to take care of her since he was able. I don't understand that kind of parenting. Well, it's not parenting, or it's reverse parenting.
He did end up getting married, despite her arguments. Perhaps she never sent the letter? Or she retrieved it later? Warning to all hoarders. All of your dirty secrets will be revealed because you don't throw anything away. More ranting, since this is in a spoiler. She has a box of letters between her and my husband's father which she has instructed us to "destroy after I die." Well, if you wanted them destroyed, you could have done it yourself. To abide by the spirit of her request, we did save the letters, but neither of us has opened the box. My husband said he will wait until she dies before he reads them. I have imagined her pathetically making her way to the basement, sitting in the corner, and re-reading all of these letters, over the past 30 years she has lived in the house, and perhaps over the past 55 years since their divorce. That makes me feel sorry for her, but most of us on this site have suffered unspeakable tragedy and suffering, and we still manage to get up and make something of ourselves and our lives. /rant.

Hello! Just found this thread today. I'm in the process of recovering from surgery at the moment, but am willing to do what I can while on the mend as I am not allowed to move around too much until cleared by the surgeon to ensure that the incision is beyond the risk of reopening. My goal is to be in decent physical shape to be able to return to motorcycle riding in the spring. Any motivation/support I can get is a plus for me! Looking to get back in the saddle!

Flea ~ So sorry of the worry you are going through with your family situation. And, that is a beautiful spider web.

Rori--I know how it is as my DH can eat anything and everything and not gain weight. And there are days where he will go all day and not eat.
Sue--Great news on roof.
Another cold day here, I am working and then need to get home and get some work done. But spacing off a lot and that has to stop.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE3 -
Caught up on reading, not much time for much else tho. Just a couple of quick things (that I remember)
Janetr, so sorry to hear about your sister passing. Happy Birthday, I'm glad you had such a wonderful time with your family.
Flea, I do NOT want to meet the spider that spun that web!
Congrats to those celebrating, hugs to those needing them and welcome to the newbies!

I finished a walk on the treadmill on my lunch hour today. I completed most of the 33 minutes at a speed of 3.2 and was thinking about turning it up higher but was sure I'd get too tired and not get to at least 30 minutes. I happened to look over at a coworker (very thin and fit) and she was going 4.0 without hardly breaking a sweat or breathing faster. Gosh. Well something to strive for I guess. Since this treadmill adventure has only been for about one month I'll be more patient with myself.

From that flu shot yesterday, I am having a reaction. Not as bad as the flu, but last night I shivering. To the point where my teeth were chattering. While I was at the Green Room I started to have this small headache and low grade fever. When I got home, I was totally exhausted. It’s not like that’s physical work. I laid down and slept for 2 hours. Vince doesn’t think that I should go bowling tonight. I will see how I am, I may just go and cheer them on. I’m sitting here with a blanket around me
Welcome everyone new!
Flea – so very sorry, what a pain!

Hello drac2you in Bedford,
I would caution you to not do too much after surgery, you might have a set back and recovery might be prolonged. After you are cleared by the surgeon, then with the motivation I can hear coming thru in your post you will certainly be riding your motorcycle in the Spring. I hope the Spring comes early! You might want to discuss with your surgeon the specific exercising you are planning to do to see what he/she says. Then have at it.

I am so far behind toooooo! Well hugs to all that wish'em! I am quietly getting back to my simple routine.
My foods are in a cabinet that's just mine. Many times the meals I fix for husband and eldest son/roommate are things I do not wish, but I can play chef well enough.
I am eating simply again. A protein, some carbs and veggies. My main focus is portion control, and Halloween is gone ( out of the house), so knowing there's no candy is a relief! At least I don't have to hunt around anymore! Ha!
I did have a slip and sip hard cider last night. It was bought last week, so hey at least I waited a week to open it! My son had duty last week, so he couldn't partake. I opened it last night, and he said it was too beery. Well its unfiltered, called Crispins.. Its not really resealable, so I drank it. It was two Stella Artouis steins worth, so anywhooo, life goes on. I am good for another 4 months of abstaining from alcohol.
Tonight, I am fixing breaded pork chops, cornbread stuffing, beef gravy and green beans for the guys. I am having a large salad with tomatoes, some cheese, bacon bits and my Amy's shiitake mushroom dressing. I had a large slice of artisan wheat bread with turkey, pepper Jack cheese for lunch, so eating light for dinner.
Yesterday for lunch, husband and I checked out a restaurant in the mainland for a Thanksgiving dinner option. It has turkey dinner as a dinner option, but found out when we tried to make a reservation, that the Thanksgiving Buffett meal is $35 per person. A bit expensive. I will be making easier meal at home. And cheaper!

Hoping to get more active this weekend again ... the medication I was on for the spider bite was supposed to give me energy (that was a side effect), instead I just felt dizzy and blech by the time I got home from work.
It's done now and bite is fading.
I'm planning to spray the bedroom with bug spray on Saturday morning. We're going out for a couple hours so I figure that's a good time to do it. I don't like being there right after I've sprayed.

Drac – welcome
M – how in the world can you possibly get MORE active????? I get tired just reading everything you do in one day. Good news about the bite
Had Newcomer bowling today. Talked to the guy who is the treasurer. He was saying that they don’t have ANYONE for the board. His feeling seems to be basically “I really don’t care because come January I am OUT.” Well, this is what happens when you twist people’s arms to do things that they really don’t want to do. I understand the president now was told that she needs to serve two years, one as president and one as past president. Her answer was “no one told me, that’s not going to happen”. I still say that a memo needs to go out to the membership saying that if people don’t step up to do some jobs, the organization will have no recourse but to disband. But I know they won’t. They didn’t have a secretary this past year, and so people will feel “let someone else do it” Oh well, I served my time, so did Vince.
I did bowl tonight, but I think I’m going to get a good night’s sleep. Still have a slight headache.
