@LoveyChar That looks painful! Hope it doesn't hurt too bad and really, really glad your son is okay, even if a little frightened.
@eleanorhawkins Oh no! I hate UTIs. Good that you are taking care of it right away. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and the symptoms will go away quickly.1 -

Yeah, seriously. Ugh.1 -
@Teresa502 & @quilteryoyo thank you for your concern. I'm sore but it's so superficial, thank goodness. I cried at first but only because I scared the baby. Now I'm kind of laughing because it was such a dumb *kitten* move. I have been on that sidewalk thousands of times over the years and today I almost fall on my face. I'll just be extra cautious next time.
@eleanorhawkins Now that is misery. I've had one in my life and it was awful. My daughter got bath bombs for Christmas and she offered me one after I told her how nice they smelled. I told her no and for that reason, perfumes and such worry me. Not her, she doesn't worry about much at 13. Anyway, I hope you get sleep. I hope you get the eating in check (I'm guilty of overeating this time of year too). Your post made me laugh a little bit. I'll eat all of January's calories tomorrow, hahahaha. Better run wishes to you for next time...3 -
@LoveyChar - oh, rough start to the day, ouch! Poor you and your little one. Hope you aren't too sore.
@eleanorhawkins - yikes, another rough start. Hope you feel better very soon.

I took the dog out for a walk, dressed to run right after. On the way back on the trail I decided to try to combine the two activities and see if I could get Stella to run with me for at least a little while. She was not enthused but hung in fairly well. I managed to drag her along for about a mile back to the house, then I deposited her (and she was greatly offended) and headed back out to finish up alone on the roads. The run alone felt surprisingly good today - maybe I needed the comparison of slogging along in the slush with a pouty dog to truly appreciate.

Sounds like a fun run! You're racking up the miles, nice job!0 -

So I did some quick math. In order to get back to my weight when I ran my last race, I need to run around 150 to 155 miles today.
That might be pushing it, even for @AlphaHowls
Just run 75 today and 80 tomorrow...
No, see that is a losing game because there are meals in there then. Gotta get it all in between lunch and dinner!
As long as those meals don't exceed your typical daily calorie expenditure, they should cancel out, right?
Running update:
I thought I was feeling better and had started eating again yesterday, so I decided to go ahead and run 5k for the virtual run I signed up for, since today was the last day to do it. About 2k in I realized that I don't really feel better, but was already out there running and not that far from my turnaround point anyway... so just kept going As soon as I finished 5k though, I stopped the watch and walked the rest of the way home. Oh well. Will get some rest and try again in a few days.
I mentioned this crazy cobblestone road a while back. It definitely slows me down, and I go a different way altogether if I'm cycling, but today I had no intentions of trying to run up, so took a picture instead.
And the scenery/weather:4 -
I got my shoes but have also been hugging the toilet all day.15
-
No run yesterday or today- both were scheduled rest days. It does not look like I will have a PR for distance this week - I have been really enjoying the rest and relaxation. Tomorrow I will probably do nothing again and honestly, I’m okay with that. I’ve been so exhausted and this is a cut back week anyway.
I may lift tomorrow, but we’ll see.
At the moment, all i can think about is sleeping. My tone will hopefully be different tomorrow5 -
Just updating my miles. Need 17 miles to meet goal. Hopefully should be able to get it done!

Thanks everyone for the sympathy :-) Much lower calorie than what I got from my husband, which came in the form of a chocolate pastry. Very sweet of him and thoughtful in an oblivious male kind of way, but how can he not have realised that atm, the rare days we're at home and I can actually correctly monitor what I'm eating should not be sabotaged by love in chocolate form? The look on his face when I said I couldn't eat that was so sad, but luckily I quickly came up with the idea that hey it would taste even better for breakfast today (not healthy but oh well, it's christmas)
@LoveyChar hope your poor knees are ok and little one has recovered from the shock!
Hugs to the sick and/or injured, seems like Santa got it totally wrong this year!

@polskagirl01 Sorry you weren't as well as you thought you were. Way to hang in there and get the virtual race completed anyway. Rest up and hopefully you will be back to your normal self soon!
@mbaker566 Hope you are feeling better today and get to try out those new shoes soon.
@LoveyChar I don't do any of those smelly things either. I used to get really, really bad yeast infections. My doctor told me to only wear cotton underwear and avoid detergents and soaps with any kind of perfumes and dyes. So, I'm an Ivory and Tide Free kind of gal.2 -
Sooo... MONDAY starts my new running life. My life as a runner with an official coach going for a real goal. I am not ready for this. When I started running as an adult, I was a fat slob that could not run 10 paces (literally) - eventually, I got to be the dork y'all know that runs sporadically and whose planning could best be called "rudderless mayhem" - but somehow still hit almost 2100 miles in 2019. If I did not decide to take days off around the last 2 weeks of December, I would have surpassed that.
Now, there is like a plan and everything. Erf. And I am PAYING for this treatment. Sheesh. What is wrong with me?14 -

@PastorVincent Okay but this is so awesome. And so, so, so, inspiring! Also, I CAN'T BEGIN TO IMAGINE you as fat! You ARE ready for this! You have obviously run your butt off (figuratively and literally) and it will be so good for you to have a goal. You have surpassed and exceeded expectations, lost the weight, and now you'll have a new thing to work toward. This is so imperative for personal and spiritual growth.
I think it's fantastic and you should be so proud of yourself!4 -

Question: If I don't tell my husband and daughter that my aunts in the UK sent us cash in their xmas cards and I spend it all on race entry fees, does that make me a bad person?6 -

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
my sister sent me gift cards to amazon for myself and my kids. I got a murino wool buff for my face and a new backpack purse (woo wee).
I want to spend the kids' on a yeti for myself but I already told them they have money so it's too late, rotfl
I should have spent mine on race entry fees too!2 -

If they sent it to "you as a group of people to share" - then yes.
If they sent it to "specifically you to do with as you want" - then no.
What if nobody said anything about who they were sending it to? I mean the xmas cards are addressed to all of us, but also in the envelopes were birthday cards for me for Wednesday. So if it didn't actually say anywhere who or what the money was for, I could assume it's for my birthday, right? Right???
Running stops me murdering either of them (or any of his family) so we could say that spending it on races for me also benefits them......
@Camaramandy648 Dammit, I always wish I hadn't told mine stuff after having done so too LOL

As we approach New Years, please remember that any gym you use is likely to be way extra crowded for a couple-few weeks. Please plan ahead for this and be extra nice, especially to the poor staff there7

Honestly? Cause I Keep getting PRs, and this year I was in my first competitive heat, like full-on if I placed I got money heat (there was no chance of that LOL) - So I started wondering, what if I took this a bit more serious? What could I do? Then a coach I know is like "Based your race performance this year, I think you can BQ" - and I was like, well I am not getting any younger if gonna try it needs be now.
I am just not good with change. Need to push through this till it becomes the new normal, and then will be okay. It was harder to do that before I learned that is a big issue mentally for me, now it is just as hard but I know why at least and that helps. Kind of7 -
@mbaker566 oh no! I hope you didn't get it from me through the internet, LOL I hope the worst of it quickly passes for you and that you can get the rest you need.
@eleanorhawkins Don't do it! The birthday money and a portion of the Christmas money should be where you stop, IMHO
I went ahead and crossed off the rest of the week/weekend from my training plan. I actually regretted cleaning today, and am back in bed with a head cold/sore throat. What in the world?8 -

I think it's great that you're going for it. Having paid for it, for me would be great motivation to follow the coaching. But we're all motivated differently. I hope it goes wonderfully for you!1 -

A late night tempo run around the block. Forecast says pollution for tomorrow. It wasn't the greatest tonight either, but the company's annual party is tomorrow night and I need all the stress relief I can get for that.
Went for this year's medical checkup this morning. Found a new cavity and not a lot else. Interestingly, the facility has a new Chinese medicine room this year. The doc felt my pulse and asked about how I was sleeping at night. Then she smiled serenely and said she thinks my Chi is low and that I should "eat more carbs". Usually I trust Chinese medicine only as far as I can throw it, but that actually sounds like pretty good advice! I now plan to stuff my face with cake tomorrow and say it was on doctor's orders.PastorVincent wrote: »Sooo...
Sheesh. What is wrong with me?5 -
As we approach New Years, please remember that any gym you use is likely to be way extra crowded for a couple-few weeks. Please plan ahead for this and be extra nice, especially to the poor staff there3

Question: If I don't tell my husband and daughter that my aunts in the UK sent us cash in their xmas cards and I spend it all on race entry fees, does that make me a bad person?
Count yourself as two people or two holidays (your birthday + Christmas) and divide it by 3. My dad sends a check each year and I just divide it evenly five ways. My little man just gets it chunked in his bank account. My mom sends Monsanto but it's individual.
Just adding that ultimately it's your money, addressed to you from your family and what you do with it is your business. I won't tell...0 -
@eleanorhawkins I meant divide it by four but count two holidays for you.
We're having a ham dinner with friends tonight. I never hit my 7.75 yesterday, only 3 and I'm not sure what I'll get in today. I hope everyone has a great Friday!3
