Okay, I know I should be asleep, but I just made biscotti for the first time. Lemon Poppyseed.

Luci - Congratulations! Iris is lovely...
Heather - love the pic of Santa and the grands... hard to believe Bea is so grown up already. I think the one-on-one time with each grandchild will be some of their most precious memories when they're grown.
Karen - the biscotti looks absolutely yum.
Rebecca - I hate falling... it's a horrible feeling before, during and after. Hope you're OK today... loved the pic of your daughter-in-law and Athena! Both charmers.
Here I am on vacation, and still up at 4:15. Incredibly ridiculous, but sleeping in is not my style, hasn't been since I was in my teens. Annoying, still, but oh well.
Love y'all,

Hi all!
Decided I wanted to get started on the last minute shopping before I did my gymming. Checked my turkey ticket and found that the butcher was opening today from 6.30!! Dashed off round the corner before 8 am. Found a queue at the butcher and lots of Santas serving. Collected my rolled turkey breast and went next door for bread and salad etc bits and pieces. Then next door again for milk and juice. Everyone was in a good mood, even the grumpy old man in the newspaper shop.
As I walked home with my trolley I saw a couple of sights that are so typically Hove. First there was a father and son out running together in their shorts. Warmed my heart. The boy was about 9 years old. Then right outside my door was a man in dressing gown and pyjamas walking his dog. Love living here.
I've gymmed and have nothing much to do except peel the sprouts ready for tomorrow. I'm going to lay the table in its Christmas finery this afternoon. Then I do have to wrap DH's Santa presents. Everything else is already prepared and in the freezer.
My main task for today is to listen to the live broadcast of Nine Lessons and Carols from Kings College, Cambridge. BBC4 at 3 pm. I think one or two of you listened to it last year. It will be on the SOUNDS app, but you will have to work out your own time zone relative to GMT. I cry every year when the solo chorister opens the service with the first verse of 'Once in Royal David's City '. He is picked to sing at the last moment.
Much love to you all and may all your holidays go well.

Happy Christmas Eve!!
Luci - so glad your little gal arrived! What's her name.... Noelle? YOU look fabulous by the way... and not old enough to be a grandmother!
Rebecca - drat taking a fall. I totally agree. And these things seem to hurt worse than when we were kids. Thoughtful of your son to bring you a candy bar; pizza and beer sound like a great way to end the day.
Margaret - thank you for the reminder and warning about purse snatchers. I hate carrying a purse, it's always dangling and getting in the way even though have the strap shortened. You've given me the incentive to DO something about it other than complain, lol.
DH and I both got up at 3!! We just couldn't sleep anymore. Our cleaner is coming today, the house is 59 degrees so he's got the wood stove going.
Dogs are up too and demanding breakfast and run in the back yard.
I'll be back, lol.

Luci ~ What a blessing grand babies are! So happy for you and happy that she came before Christmas.
Rebecca ~ Hoping your boo boos heal quickly and that the owners get the drive fixed. We had cracked raised places in our driveway and finally the county repaved while they were laying new sidewalks. Much safer now.
Heather ~ That is a beautiful room where the Christmas photo was taken. Bea looks so excited! Three happy children.
Amber ~ I hope your daughter arrives safely and that y'all have a wonderful visit.
Karen ~ I have never even tasted biscotti but I am sure the lemon flavored will be delish! I think I will make brownies today and some spinach dip to take to Son's house on Christmas day.
Margaret ~ It has gotten so dangerous to go about now-a-days. We have a lot of crimes taking place here in gas stations as folks try to get gas. I have gotten very aware of my surroundings.
Made my husband rice filled socks to heat in the microwave. He loves the ones I made years ago and they are looking rather shabby. This will be his Christmas present.

Sleep tight, my lovelies!

Happy Christmas Eve ... I'm sitting quietly enjoying the end of the day.
As promised, we did eat the pavlova.
So it was a good thing I went for a walk!! I managed 4 km to the beach and back. It was slow going, but I did it. And the beach was beautiful! There weren't very many people around ... a few jogging, a few walking, and one party. It was fairly quiet so I could enjoy the sound of the waves and blue-ness of the water.
I haven't left my little suburb since I arrived home from work on Friday afternoon (it's Tuesday today). And I've only left home for short walks.
No driving. No buses. No fighting my way through shopping centres.
Just enjoying the house and garden and our local beach.
Reading, sleeping, listening to Christmas music, watching mainly Christmas movies, and taking care of a few things that had been piling up in my inbox.
It has been wonderfully nice not having to deal with people and going places and doing things!!

Rebecca I am so sorry you fell. And sorry nobody was there for you. And that your husband was a bit flippant and didn't notice how shaken you were. (((Hugs))) I wish I'd been there to make you a cup of tea and a towel warm from the dryer around your shoulders.

Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy All or None of the Above.
I am in the office this morning and it is very strange. There are maybe three of us on the entire floor. Yes, it's a little early for most, but still very strange. It will be good to get some final tasks done prior to my days off. I will have to check in on Thursday and Friday. A team member's son is in the service and found out last minute (this is SOP in the military) he could come home for Christmas holiday. He will be deployed sometime after his time off. I had already requested the days off, but told her to take the time off and I would let management know I would be checking in from time-to-time and they could reach me via cell, if there is a 911. She is so happy to be able to spend time with her son (she had not seen him in over a year).
Our sales reps were so generous with us this year. Since I started here one of the reps organizes a restaurant gift card drive for the office support folks. Not all of the reps participate. The organizer certainly knows human nature and sets the donation levels from Bronze to Platinum. This year 145 of us received $165 in gift cards. I will say it again - I am extremely fortunate to work with such a great group of people.
Well, I am on "company" time and must run. I wish every a joyous Christmas eve and Christmas day.

SuziQ ~ How nice to be working with such generous folks who think to be kind the support staff.
Karen in VA ~ Lillianna look gleeful! The kittens look like they are in a comfortable kitten happy place.

Carol they did a news piece a year or so ago about thieves opening your car door while you are pumping gas and stealing woman'a purses and wallets. I do believe they are looking for easy targets, so I do try to be proactive and try to not make myself one. I know you can only do so much. I won't let it stop me from getting out and enjoying my life.
I think it is important to remind each other at this time of year. There is so much going on and it is easy to get distracted and not be paying attention.
I will be singing at two services tonight for Christmas Eve. Singing Candlelight Carol and Tomorrow will be my Dancing Day!
Margaret2 -
Carol- Luckily she’s going finally from a warmer state to a warmer state so less likely to have issues like before (she’s been stationed in Places like Virginia to Chicago areas! Talk about cancellation city her fighting to get home!) . We’re sunny y warm- to chilly days here 40*F degrees today . Gotta love Texas weather. 54*F cloudy where Daughter is.
Amber Tx1 -
Yes purse thieves target older Women y sometimes us middle aged ones. Told you about the one I went after got my purse y an older Woman purse back (her husband y her moved extremely slowly easiest targets weren’t watching the purse) . I wore a shoulder purse after that now big purse again but diapers in it so instead of watching diaper y purse bags only 1 to watch. Wish he would get out of Diapers 100% but that will be soon enough. Then back to a shoulder bag y sometimes just a men’s wallet.

Karen - your biscotti are adorable! I have only made them once and gave them as a present to my DSIL along with a half bottle of Vin Santo. In Italy they dunk the biscuits in the wine to eat.
Love Lilliana.
All these gorgeous babies! My last baby is 3 years old.(Bea) I absolutely adore newborns.
I have laid the table, peeled the sprouts, wrapped the presents. Then I had the brilliant idea of pinching Lanette's front door bunch of greenery. I thought it looked doable, but effective, to welcome the family tomorrow. So I gathered a few bits and pieces from the garden and tied them up with a bow and a few baubles. Voila! Looks lovely!
THANK YOU LANETTE.
Now to listen to the carol service.

Rebecca, sorry about your fall. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. You reminded me of how fortunate I am that the roads in my neighborhood are so smooth and well maintained. I hadn't thought of that in awhile.
Luci, congrats on the new grandchild.
Machka, that is a great list. Thank you for sharing it.
Karen in VA, the biscotti look fabulous. I've been watching "Great American Baking Show" and have huge admiration for baking skill.
Roads have a bit of ice on them so we'll have to be more careful than usual this morning.

hi,
how's it going. going to a friend's for dinner (and dancing). I'm just dragging. I met w a colleague from out of state for legal stuff this morning and it put me in a fowl mood. I was helping her, but revisiting the stuff just tanked my mood. she's just here for a weeks, so...
also theres' a guy I'm not fond of at the little xmas get together. he can be prickly in a kind of a weird way. hard to put my finger on. I think I'll arrive an hour late (totally acceptable in this time-flexible place) and possibly leave early. I can be a homebody though. often once I'm out I have fun. if it weren't xmas I'd cancel.2 -
Happy Christmas Eve! I went to bed last night at 9:30pm and slept until 8 this morning! lol Feel a bit groggy, but that could be the cold as much as the amount of sleep I got (too much sleep tends to make me feel icky). Anyway, it was nice to just lay in bed and doze for a bit longer. I already have dinner prepped for today. It is my youngest son, Colin's, birthday, today. I am making crab legs, cilantro lime shrimp, crab rangoon, rice and egg drop soup. I will make a small omelette for my hubby Tim and my older son, Darren (as they don't care for seafood) and they can have rice and soup with it. No birthday cake, as we are not cake eaters; but we will have some buche du Noel this evening as it is Christmas Eve. Following is the birth story I shared on facebook. I have printed it and put it in Colin's birthday card as he is not on facebook anymore. In late 1992 the doctors found a mass wrapped around my mother's spine. Inoperable. Her cancer was back. Her third meeting with the “beast” in seven years. Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. By the beginning of March she was at home and the end was near. On my last visit with her, I entered her bedroom with my daughter Lauren (then three years old) and my mom greeted me with her usual smile and warmth. “Oh! Kelly Jo! I am so happy you are here! Who do you have with you?” Figuring this was confusion due to illness, I gently reminded her, “It’s Lauren, mom. You remember Lauren!” and my mother answered, “No! I am not talking about Lauren” (to Lauren, “Hello Lauren! How are you?”) “I am talking about the baby in your arms! Whose little boy is that?” I replied, “There’s no baby!” Opening my empty arms to show her, “Just me and Lauren.” She looked confused and then thoughtful for a moment. Then smiled and said “Oh, I see. Nevermind!”. We continued with our visit and then I went home. Mom passed away later that night. Two weeks later, I found out I was pregnant. For the next few months, my sorrow was deep, the emotional pain was all encompassing and I would drown myself in my work because that was the only place where I was NOT thinking about my loss. The whole time this baby moved gently and quietly inside of me. So different from my first pregnancy, when my unborn daughter would seemingly be doing all sorts of tumbling and gymnastics inside, then would lean against a certain nerve in my back and knock my feet out from under me. This baby was different. Moving gently, as if trying to NOT stress me any more than I was. November came, I was as big as a house in my eighth month and like most pregnant women, ready for this baby to arrive. Then, my father passed away. Dad was gone. My heart was in pieces. Those last few weeks of the pregnancy was a blur. But life does go on. I had two children at home, ready for Christmas fun and wonder. On Christmas Eve morning, I left my house for a check up with my obstetrician. I told my husband and kids, “I have to go to the doctor, and when I get home, we will open presents!” Well, you know what they say about the “best laid plans”. My ob decided that we needed to induce labor, and my baby boy was born at 6:30pm on Christmas Eve. He entered the world without a sound and eyes wide open. Even that little spank that they give so his lungs would fill with air, produced only a couple of screams of indignation, which then quieted as soon as they placed him on my chest. He just nestled in and went to sleep. Soothing my soul and healing my heart and “nurturing” me as much as I would be doing for him. My husband had let my brothers and sisters know that the baby had arrived, and like shepherds, or maybe lost sheep, they all made their pilgrimage to my hospital room to see this baby. This baby who was a sign of life after a year of death. This baby, who as he was passed around from arms to arms, was a soothing balm for each aching heart. Now, the birth of this child was no more special than that of any other child, but he was the child that made me truly know there is a God. I am positive that my mother saw a baby boy in my arms, and that her soul and my son’s soul “saw” each other. One soul on the way out of this world, and one soul on it’s way in. I am sure that God gave me this gift. This life that I so badly needed in 1993. Every Christmas as I am reminded of the absence of my parents, I am reminded of the gift of life. A baby is never just a baby. Happy birthday, beautiful boy.
Karen VA- Lilliana is gorgeous! And those kitties! I think I need a lapful of warm kittens for Christmas. Happy your partner's recovery is going well.
Luci- Your granddaughter is beautiful! Babies are so special! You are positively glowing!
Heather- Glad your time with your husbands daughter went well! And another fantastic picture of your grandkids! That is a great Father Christmas and the setting looks amazing! Bea's expression is great!
Pip- lol I wondered if that is the "game" you were playing! You are a cute little Christmas Tree!
Rebecca- Oh no! So sorry you fell; but happy that no permanent damage was done! A virtual slap on the wrist to your hubby! That is not the time for a "serves you right or I told you so"! He would be in a world of hurt if you were unable to help him due to an injury or illness on your part. I am sure he knows that.
I am slowly getting back into my exercise regimen. This cold has allowed me to continue getting done the things that HAVE to get done; but hasn't left a lot of energy in me to work out. I did manage to get a walk in yesterday; only two miles, but that is better than I have been able to do in a week. Last week, my brother in law brought over his elliptical and set it up. I haven't been able to use it yet because I can't breathe easily enough to do it, yet. I am hoping my nose unplugs long enough for me to get in a couple of five or ten minute sessions on it, today. We shall see.
I better scoot and get busy doing something. Peace and love to you all! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

I'm listening to the 9 Lessons. Just been inspired to make some place settings out of some wooden heart gift tags. I'm sure the kids will enjoy finding their names.
I am so pleased with my decorations this year. I feel really grown up at last. The red and gold theme has gone well. The new things I bought have made a big difference. Of course, once the kids arrive tomorrow morning everything will go to pot! Chaos and bedlam. I feel so incredibly lucky.
Love this time on Christmas Eve as I listen to the service with the dusk growing and the lights and candles lit. Magic. I wish Peace on Earth for everyone.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! So excited! Just took my homemade macaroni and cheese out of the oven! I did really good not nibbling while I was making it! The cheese roux is sooooo good I kept humming my way through each time I wanted to taste it😂😂. I’m making my turkey meatloaf mix and seasoning my chicken tonight (and cooking it tomorrow and seasoned mixed greens). We are having sweet potato pie and peach cobbler (courtesy of Patti Labelle🥰🥰) and my daughter is making Red Velvet soft cookies.
Of course I am heading to the gym in a few minutes to get my 60 minute elliptical burn!!!🏃🏾♀️🏃🏾♀️ then we are heading to see “Cats”. Many have said the movie hasn’t gotten good reviews but I don’t care! Just being with family is a blessing!

BrownSugar (Sorry I don't remember your name)....I can see you are a Georgia gal cause I grew up eating sweet potato pies. Never pumpkin. Your Mac & Cheese looks delicious.
