Hi Gals,
Lisa --Levi is adorable – in a very different way than my furry friend Levi is…
Today was exhausting in a very non-physical state. I was driving to my Camp Gardening Job, when my phone rang it was my Mom – she NEVER calls in the morning. She has had a cold and bad cough, and I have been encouraging that she go to the doctor, but she is not a believer in the medical world. In her world if you go to the doctor for anything other than a broken bone or other very visible thing then you are in her mind a hypochondriac. She told me that she had called her doctor and they were off today, so she would wait for her grandson to wake up to take her to the local urgent care – the urgent care is 3-4 blocks away. My mom is still driving so the fact she would not drive 3-4 blocks was a huge red flag. I told her I was on my way. Calls to my boss at the garden and told them I was not coming in. About an hour and a half and I had her at urgent care. Potential Pneumonia, or pre-pneumonia was the diagnosis a breathing treatment, an antibiotic shot, and a round of antibiotics. I then had lunch with my nephew.
My nephew is home for the holidays from college, and his dad (my brother) has terminal cancer [for the newbies this brother is my abuser; I am a domestic violence survivor]. My brother was expected to die by the beginning of summer 2019 and he is just now taken a big turn for the worse. Very weak, loosing his memory and his eyesight is failing. So it was really good to be with my nephew and being able to chat about how he feels, and to be sure he knows he has my support.

Rebecca - Wow how great he responded! and so sad about the penpal friend "dear johning" you - I think that the attitude if we don't agree completely, we can't be in conversation is part of the reason for the divide in America. And for most of us there are tons of things we agree on and just a few that we don't. If we had to agree on everything this forum would not exist. Heck I love black licorice and if we had to have that in common I would have few friends indeed.

Took the extremewpump class today. The plan for tomorrow is to do Bob Harper’s Ultimate Cardio Party DVD.
Yesterday went better than I expected. Although Vince and I agreed that we’d never do this again, have Christmas 2 weeks after Christmas. Right now I put all the Christmas items (towels, tablecloths, etc) into the washer so that we can put them away. I started making yogurt yesterday and couldn’t understand why my IP didn’t have any pressure. Dhhh…if I’d just looked at my cookbook I would have seen that no pressure is needed. So it should be finished in about ½ an hour, then I’ll put it in the refrigerator to drain. Hope the milk didn’t get too low on the temp. Update: didn't get thick, not sure why. I'm trying again today. If this doesn't get thick, then I'm going to try using full fat milk
Not going to go to mahjongg tonight. Jess is going to go to ceramics with us tonight and her friend who was here last night, Amanda, said that she was coming. Now will she? Who knows? Update: she did come and said that she'll be coming back
NYKaren – I’m so sorry about your mother. Think of the many years you had with her. How you feel about her OCD really warmed my heart.
Well, getting back on track today. I had some corn muffins and last year I would have eaten the last 2 since I feel guilty throwing perfectly good food away. This year I did throw them out. Well…the fact that Jess used the convection cook feature on my oven might have added to it. The muffin was soft on the inside but crispy on the outside. That’s not something I expected. Well, I never use my convection feature. I probably should.
Found this recipe for this soup for the IP. Something about it being a weight loss soup. Well, I just want to try it anyway.
Vince said that tomorrow we’ll start taking the outside decorations down. First thing will be the inflatables. I wish somehow we can get the totes that go in the house taken in before we inflate the inflatables in the garage because that really fills up the garage.
Lisa AR – Congratulations!!!! Levi is so adorable
Rebecca – I’m so happy for you

During yesterday and today's lunch I prepared for my nose surgery ... if I have it. That hasn't been confirmed yet. However, places where having post-Christmas sales!!
Evidently, if I have the surgery, I'm not to wear anything I have to pull over my head for a while, so I decided to take advantage of those post-Christmas sales and picked up two button-up night shirts for $8 each. I'm not overly keen on night shirts because of the collars, but these are really light weight and I got them a size or two bigger than I'd wear to work.
I figured for $8 each, I'd go for them ... I can wear them around the house with tank top & leggings or something even after my nose heals.

Well Hubby y me both missing Daughter on the way home from the airport bam McDonald’s we gave in.sigh* better tomorrow . JR doesn’t know where she went keeps yelling Sissy even outside. He can’t find her he keeps saying. He’ll understand as he gets older where she goes.
Added A app Daughter loves to connect more often on. So hopefully that will help too. She took my new sweater lol 😆 were bad about taking each other’s clothes. She looked nicer in it than me.
Tomorrow DOCTOR APPOINTMENT then back to our routines so exercise to eating right. I ate more veggies when we ate out than ordering in. So now knowing my weaknesses. When I cooked was healthy
Peanut butter pancakes 🥞, shrimp kale salad, steak y shrimp with vegetables. When we ate in pizza 🍕 or McDonalds or Chick-fil-A (fries are the worst calories shouldn’t have but did y she ordered brownies darn peri-period I ate half! I usually keep sweets away during my periods so no self sabatoge ). When eating out I ordered Salads, veggies, y smaller portioned burger even 1/3rd,baked chicken . So I was winning when we ate out or I cooked. Ordering in I lost! Self awareness will help next visit. Got my exercise stuff set up y ready to go y watch my portions y foods now that’s she gone. Might need to clean fridge out of any fast food lingering...not sure what’s in there now.

@Snowflake1968 … Tracey, welcome back! Nice to see my Edmonton connection back here again. 😊
@christinarayburn3 … another Canadian! Yay! I was born in Canada and lived there for the first 40-ish years of my life. I am still diligently dyeing my hair … not ready to “salt & pepper” yet.
@spygirl2017 … Caroline, are you thinking of getting into trail running too? I did a bit of it in late 2018 and enjoyed it.
@MsGetnSexyBack … is there a particular exercise you like doing? And then, is there a type of goal within that exercise? Like for example, in the cycling world, there are “Centuries – 100 miles in one day”, and in the running world there are half marathons and marathons, etc. I find that type of thing motivating.
@buzzcogs … what are one or two good habits you’d like to start?
@2020goLizgo … with your treadmill workouts, are you training for something or just keeping fit?
@knitski2002 … do you ski as well as your husband? Cross country or downhill?
@ple79 … Pam, keep posting. You’ve successfully done it a few times now.
@jsophiethomas … competitive sailing or touring sailing? If you try cycling, be sure to get the bicycle set up properly for you otherwise it could be painful.
@carolpa1 … what are some of your favourite activities? What keeps you busy and away from food? 😊
@FunUsername … what a fun username! Yes, take care of yourself. That’s a good idea.
@Lilylady3k … what kind of cycling do you like? Learning Spanish is a great goal. If you’ve ever learned Latin or French, Spanish comes relatively naturally. I have taken one Spanish course and didn’t have any trouble with it because it reminded me of French, but easier than French. I see you’re teaching English … I was actually pursuing options to teach English overseas when all of a sudden I was taking my Bachelor of Education. Part of me would still like to teach English somewhere.
__________________________________________
@kymaria … Kylia, here’s hoping for a better, calmer 2020.
@Anniesquats100 … Annie, I really think you should go to the doctor and get a complete physical done.
Machka ... the Canadian/Australia in Oz

"Todo"s and "done"Done: BBB&B, Post office, make tuna salad, safety hint,Cleaning investment flop again today. Tomorrow I will not wait for a moment when Joe’s outside but will find something I can do NOW.
Bonus: 120 mins sorting, filing and Part B reconcile, 5 mins engagement training both Tumble and Shadow, firehall grant quote.
to do: invest 10 mins cleaning kitchen/laundry, carryover invest 10 mins, (including dusting) cleaning LR, MBth, Dr. Holley voice mail, call electrician, start taking tree down, call Carolyn, line dance, look at 20 for 20 what can you do and when?
Frustrated today trying to reconcile Part B invoices. Claims for invoices are mixed across several different Medicare EOB and Medigap Insurance statements, none of which cover the same time period. Grr. Dogs roughhousing, Joe wanting to chat all while I’m waist deep in paper. V. cranky and almost late for BB&B. Was so rushed, left cell phone at home so didn’t get step count for exercise class or shopping. Thankfully hip cooperated, and, funny thing: after BB&B I felt so much better, calmer, happier, not mad at anyone. Go figure
Welcome Lilylady3k from Texas,
Lisa Welcome Levi Matthew!
Ginny in OH, I’ve suddenly become “sensitive” to citrus, buzzing, burning lips and mouth after clementines, grapefruit even navel oranges. Could something that you’ve always used on your face before, be triggering an allergic reaction now?
Rebecca Halelujah for your son’s contact. As for the penpal who couldn’t maintain a friendship with you because your political views differ, how sadly misguided! I’m sure you had more in common as human women than your political differences. Her loss indeed.
Kim ditto all you said except about the black licorice. Yuck!

Lisa, congrats on Levi's arrival! He looks like a healthy young fella!
Rebecca, I'm so happy for you that your son was just busy with life! I agree, our minds can definitely think the worst when we aren't hearing from our loved ones! And I have to agree, your former penpal has definitely lost out.
Kim, And for most of us there are tons of things we agree on and just a few that we don't. If we had to agree on everything this forum would not exist. Heck I love black licorice and if we had to have that in common I would have few friends indeed. thank heavens we can disagree on the black licorice thing! Can't stand the stuff! lol Happy to hear that your mom got looked after and that you were able to have a nice visit with your nephew. Sorry about your brother, but......
Kylia and Tracey, so nice to hear from you both! Hope things settle down for both of you, sounds like you've been busy, busy, busy!
Pip, was that really you writing that chatty post?? lol Happy for you that you were able to find a good home for Lenny's trunk.
Barbara, funny how exercise can help the stuff that hurts! I find my back hurts a LOT if I take too many days off, stretching doesn't cut it and I keep forgetting that a good workout will take care of a lot of the kinks. Not too mention the feel good endorphins that are released!
Sharon and Janet, your before and after photos are amazing!! Thanks for sharing (and inspiring!)
Well, Christmas is down and put away. Floors got washed today, bathrooms and vacuuming got done yesterday. Sigh. House is almost back to normal, just a few more things to put back, stuff that I had put away in order to put up Christmas stuff. Even hubby commented on how bare the place looks! Oh well, it's all good.
Went for a walk with my friend yesterday, we both got soaked! Hung my jacket in the garage overnight, it made some pretty good puddles! Today I took it apart (it's one of those with a zip out fleece lining) and brought it in the house, hung it up in the spare bathroom and it's almost dry now. Got up this morning with the intention of going for a walk again, looked out the window and said NOPE! Pouring with rain again, but that meant I had the time to get stuff done. Also cleaned out the closet in my office, took everything out, didn't put everything back. Some stuff is bagged up and will be going to the thrift store. Some stuff already went into the garbage, felt really good!
I haven't had a word for my year before, but I think I'm going to do that this year and I think that word will be transform. I've made up my mind that any clothes that are in my closet next January that don't fit are going to have to be gotten rid of. There's some clothes in there that I really like, so I must transform my body. My mind must also undergo some transformation in order for everything to fall into place. We will see how that goes!
Hugs to those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

Morning lovelies!
Becca fabulous convo with your DYS, your response to him was terrific.
Congrats Lisa welcome, beautiful Levi
Luci podcasts I like to listen to, Soul Music (thanks to Heather), This American Life, Dollywood (really) Sporkful, the Moth, I'll listen to any financial podcasts and try them out, haven't got a favorite.
I chose to ignore my desire for "habitual media consumption" after work yesterday and worked out, despite being interrupted by Rachel who was having drama and errands that were competing with everything. Yes, I did walk 15 minutes, had to take care of drama, but then I did something new, I returned for an additional 15 minutes of treadmill, hooray for me. I can't fix everything, can't wave a magic wand and improve things permanently, but guess what I can walk, I can write, I can put together food that nourishes my family without sinking into my couch. So hey folks, I've got a one day streak goin! I'm feeling good

Rebecca I am so relieved your youngest son put on his big boy pants and contacted you. Hopefully he will learn that it's never too late to send a thank you note, if you know what I mean. You handled the whole thing well. I know you felt all kinds of emotions during the long wait. As far as the Dear John pen pal, she sounds like someone who would have benefited from getting to know a fun former nudist military wife mother adorer of beautiful cats & painted rocks dollar stretcher husband teaser forum friend fabulous femme. She's probably pretty boring…
Kim Well, you can't rid of me that easily. I love black licorice. My mother loved it too. I hope your mom is feeling better in a jiffy. I got a call from my friend in Nebraska one day in 2001 saying she had seen my mom at the grocery store that morning & she seemed out of breath. I was on the plane a couple of days later and she died from breast cancer metastatic to the lung a month after that. She was my best friend ever.
Barbara I can hardly wait for the joys of Medicare. I am delaying as long as possible, after my initial foray into the morass. At least now I know what Medigap & Part D plans I will probably choose when the time comes. I can put it off for another few months because my employer is generous enough to keep me covered, even though I am no longer working full-time.
Machka I love your auburn tresses but I think you'd also be gorgeous as a salt & pepper…
Amber Awwww, JR yelling for Sissy...
Ginny Did both of the itchy face episodes happen when you were warm (exercise, hot shower, etc)? Because some people develop an "allergy" to heat or cold that causes itchiness & even sometimes hives. We had a physician at our workplace who rode his motorcycle to work in the cold one day & his whole face puffed up with a giant hive! He was OK but it scared him.
Evelyn Maybe Vancouver could send some of that rain to Australia.

So excited: we get to babysit Lilliana (2 months old) for a few hours today!

Took down the tree and the few decorations we had yesterday. Need to move things around a little to get back to *normal*.
Trying to find motivation to declutter - I have far too much stuff. At least the kitchen is almost sorted now, I have only filled the new cupboards with things that I am using and I try to clear the counters every night by putting things away. (For some reason I have trouble putting things back don't know why)
Rebecca so glad you have finally heard from your son, and what a lovely response from you to his email.
Lisa Congrats on the new baby - he's gorgeous
Kim Hope your mum recovers quickly, and good that you could catch up with your nephew.
The timer has just gone off, time for me to get something done. I'm using the timer to limit my time on the computer. I'll be back shortly to catch up on rest of the posts. This way I hope I don't get too far behind.
Please send good thoughts/prayers to my SIL who is starting her cancer treatment today, she is starting on a new tablet and will be on this for as long as it works, she has stage 4 lung cancer
Love to all

And thank you!

Lisa,
Congratulations! Levi is adorable.2 -
Hello one and all.
Rebecca - I am so happy your son has finally made contact. You sound both overjoyed and relieved. It's interesting how some people will "dump" those with opposite views. Those of us who want to continue to grow value those with differences of opinion.
Kim - I hope mom recovers quickly and still goes to her primary for a follow up. I am glad you were able to spend time with your nephew and provide him with an outlet.
Barbara - When I get frustrated in the midst of doing something I take a mental break. Most times it's at work so I simply get away from my desk and either take a quick walk outside and/or the office. I am happy the BB&B break was so cleansing for you. Side note - I am not looking forward to the day when I have to navigate Medicare. Hopefully by the time I sign up for it the rules are a little easier (ha, fat chance - insurance and government - lol).
Evelyn - Great use of your time. I have a "rule". If I haven't worn/used it in 6 months (unless seasonal) the item gets donated. Nor do I allow myself to bring a new piece of clothing in the house unless I have gotten rid of something. I did keep some smaller clothes and I was glad that I did because at one point I would not have had anything to wear to work.
Habits - There was a very interesting podcast regarding habits on NPR on Sunday. For those of you who are interested here is the link.
https://www.npr.org/transcripts/787160734
I am still trying to get back to "normal". I think it's due to how the holidays fell this time around (Wednesday) so it was like I had 4 Mondays at work the past two weeks. This weekend's objective is to get all of my meals planned and/or prepped for the following week. It's so much easier for me when I do not have to "think" about my next meal.

Thanks for all the congratulations on Levi - personally, I think he looks like Mao Tse-Tung, but his big sister did too, and he'll grow out of it. Here's the big sister and big brother meeting him. Right now, according to the outcome from the doctor's appointment on Friday, we're tentatively planning on going up on Friday the 17th and will stay in a hotel nearby on Friday & Saturday night.

I am up and having my tea.. and having a case of the guilties..
today is both Drs on and Zina's dad still up and down.they are trying to find a Dental Assistant to help today with Dr P. and if Zina's dad gets worse she wont be there. I dont usually work tues or weds, but Mary asked me awhile ago to work Weds, so I will..
Dr P said if there are any mistakes when it comes to insurance breakdowns and he loses money he will take it out of my paychecks.. i work around 25 hrs a week , and from a legal prospective that is illegal ,so I am going to shower and get dressed up and stop at the nursing home to see if I can talk to the HR today.. as it was I was sitting on the floor for 2 1/2 hrs putting a computer cart together yesterday.
so today if they dont have an assistant he will be working on his own...
but I have to work the rest of the week.. oh well..

Becca- Love your conversation with your DYS! It is amazing that our kids can still be unsure of our love as adults. I think you handled his confession, wonderfully!
Viv- Prayers for your SIL and her cancer diagnosis/treatment.
Lisa- Hello beautiful baby Levi! I love the pic of the "meeting of the siblings"
KarenVA-Yeah! Some one on one time with baby Lilliana! She is so adorable!
Kim, KarenVA, Terri- add me to the list of black licorice lovers! It is a "taste" I got from my dad; he would always have some black licorice ferreted away someplace and share with me. Sometimes he would get the dutch salted black licorice; I liked that, too.

Kim - The black licorice comment made me LOL. I love black licorice, my BFF travel buddy hates it, however her husband loves it. I buy some black licorice jelly beans when I am out at their house and he and I enjoy them while she just shakes her head. (My hubs is indifferent, won't go out of his way to eat it, but doesn't gag if he gets one.)

Good morning peeps!
Rebecca - so happy you've heard from DYS!!! What a relief. And yes, your penpal has chosen to lose a really wonderful and thoughtful person.
Karen in VA - are you totally retired now? Sounds like your days will be filled with fun and happy things to do. Your partner must be getting along well.
Barbara AHMOD - I cringed to hear about your medical bill _______. Praying you get it all sorted out with minimal frustration. Neat that BB&B went well after all that! Hey, how is your new raincoat/rainsuit doing? I managed to get in about 15 minutes yesterday between downpours. My coat got pretty wet but I stayed dry. I wouldn't have wanted to stay out any longer though.
Evie - Yep, I hear you on the rain! My jacket got draped over a chair in the kitchen to drip on the linoleum. Haven't had to do that in a long time. We've gotten 4" of rain so far this month. Good for you with the decluttering/cleaning and I like that word "Transform". Pretty nifty!
Allie - your boss is a doozy. Praying that job at the nursing home opens up and you can tell him Adios! Maybe it will end up being just him and his wife there. Let HER assist, lol.
Pip - when I saw that long post from you I thought you got hacked.
Viv - sending prayers for your SIL. They are making medical advances all the time, hope the treatment she's on works well.
A minor river is flooding this morning - actually crested last night but has spread over fields and some roads. But shouldn't impact me on my drive to Walmart this morning, lol. Cleaner coming at 8 so I will need to scram. DH takes the dogs and sleeps on his recliner in the shop during the 2 hours she's here.
So make it a great day, ladies!

Is there any way you can set your phone to record in an attempt to get some of the things Dr. P says to you? I would start building a case. If not I would purchase a notebook (one where you can tell if a page is ripped out) and start keeping notes of the conversations.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers to you in your mission today. I think we all agree you need to get out of that office and in to a more positive environment.4 -
Lisa ~ Congrats on new grandson! They look like a lovely family.
Rebecca ~ So, so glad you and your youngest are texting. Sorry you lost your pen pal. I never post anything political on my Facebook page as my far left nephew wanted to get into a big discussion the one time I did
Kim ~ Stay strong for your nephew. Hope your mom’s health improves.
Michele ~ Glad you are enjoying your instant pot.
NY Karen ~ Your attitude toward acknowledging you can’t fix everything is really inspiring. Good for you walking the extra 15 minutes.
Karen in VA ~ Lilliana looks so happy. Know you will enjoy your time with her.
Carol in GA who is trying to overcome a cold my DH game me!6 -
Lisa - Levi
Karen - You have been amazing in committing to all that time with your grandchildren. When they asked me I refused to take on a regular commitment as I value my freedom too much. I didn't want to feel guilty if I need to be away on those days. Hence the au pair! And Bea goes to a childminder on Mondays. However, they are not financially strapped and I would feel differently if they were. Plus, writers have to be selfish. I have to severely limit things I take on, even fun things. I am eminently distractable!
One thing is sure, it is so rewarding to be close to your grandchildren. It is a huge part of our lives. My DH does so much of the work though! I am a lightweight. I'm the planner, the organiser, he is the fun king.
I find it absolutely knackering. He gets energy from it. I adore them though.
We are off in a second to try out a new activity, SINGING FOR PLEASURE. Just going to check it out and see if we like it. It's nearby, which makes a difference. We couldn't really go before because it was on the same day as the Swing dancing, but that has changed to Wednesday. We can only go to that once a fortnight as it conflicts with the French Circle.
Must go, love Heather UK xxxxxxxx7 -
Carol-gotta love the hubs and their sharing whatever ick they bring home.I believe because I work outside and am not cooped up with him and his germs, keeps me from getting Most of his junk.I do hope you feel better soon.
Allie-I’m so sorry you’re enduring such crap.I pray you find a way to record what’s going on.I am blessed that we are so simple at the farm.We use No technology and a cash box and old fashioned scales. The scales are checked by the state every year and we pass. Our customers trust us and we trust each other.
