Inadvertently Tried salted liquorice in Denmark. It was a culture shock!!! Eoeugghhh!
Allie: That boss doesn’t deserve you. The sooner you get out of there, the better.
Heather: I’m with you on not taking a regular caring responsibility. We have earned the freedom to please ourselves. My girls know that I’m there in an emergency, but respect the fact that I still have a busy life.
Kim: It’s difficult to help the olds when they are so independently minded. And it’s difficult for them to accept that they need help. All we can do is offer help, but we can’t force them to take it. Hope it works out for you.
😍😍😍Levi, Lilliana, Athena, JR ... such joy to see such happy young’uns

About decluttering. See if you can find "Outer Order, Inner Calm" by Gretchen Rubin....lots of great ways to look at the process.4

JRs Doctor changed from Private to Government owned so confused by the paperwork.

The SINGING FOR PLEASURE group was fantastic! I had no idea what to expect, but it was very welcoming, about 40 people, and the gay guy who runs it is brilliant. Nearly everyone is old ,made us feel young, but in very good voice. It was relaxed and easy. Nice mix of tunes.
We stayed on for the Classical section afterwards, just to see what it was like, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Old Italian opera and a Madrigal. We will have a listen on YouTube to get familiar with them as it's far more difficult.
Coming back I bought white irises from the flower shop and I have put them in my new vase. Spring has sprung!
Rebecca - would you enjoy something like that? There must be something up your way.
Love liquorice, by the way, especially Scandinavian. Yummo!
Some of you may remember I absolutely love Burns Night, where you eat haggis and drink whisky. Google it if you are not familiar. Last year we had haggis with my AF son and no whisky. Some years we have had a few guests. I love it because the menu is easy! My son is doing Veganuary, so he's out. I asked my brother and his wife, but they are away, so DH asked his cricket friend and his wife. They said yes, and will stay over. :drinker: I am especially pleased as they are people who much prefer a hotel, but last time he came over for a cup of tea I showed him round the house and the guest accommodation. It is quite separate with en suite. (Normally my bathroom) I love all the fun with the themed table, the silly ' wee Jimmy' hats, and the business with the haggis. I always put on bagpipe music. So, hooray!
Also arranged to meet my friend next week for lunch at The Salt Room, which is on the seafront and has a glassed in terrace. Always wanted to try it. It's mainly fish and seafood. Hooray again!
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx9 -
Karen in VA: You have a busy life. I envy your proximity to your grandchildren, and your opportunity to spend time with them. Enjoy your babysitting.
Amber: Raw celery is a great snack when you really feel like munching is a necessity. It takes more calories for your body to digest than the celery contains. Win for the dieter. You can eat all the celery you want when the munchies hit. Don’t dip it into calorie loaded dips without counting the calories in the dip. :noway:
Rebecca: Your son texted you!!! YAY!!!
Kim: You were absolutely right to intervene with your mom. Good for you, and even better for her. I am happy that you were able to spend time with your nephew.
Viv: Prayers for your SIL. :flowerforyou:
Heather: You seem to have a huge number of options for enjoyable activities. Good for you & DH!!!
This morning I’m scheduled for a bone density scan at the hospital. DH doesn’t feel good enough to accompany me, so I’ll be on my own. I guess I’ll just have to put on my big girl panties. :ohwell:

Katla, isn't the bone scan the easy peasy test where you just lay on the table, no fuss? Or am I mixing that one up with something else. Either way, take care of yourself.

Machka, what great ‘‘tis on goal setting! I’ve jotted them down and plan to keep them in my weekly note file to review.
I hope the fires I see marked in Tasmania are fat from you, and perhaps more easily controlled in your less arid climate. Like most of us in the USA, I’m horrified by the battle going on on your mainland. The photos and news clips have me nearly in tears, and I’m not an easy crier.
I’m concerned, of course, for the koalas and bird life, but especially for the various flying foxes, since I’ve followed the videos from Batzilla (a rescue near Brisbane) for several years. I find myself really wanting to go back to the nocturnal house at Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo to watch them there. I hate to see any creature confined in a zoo, but I can work toward things like getting aquatic mammals re-homed first.
Lisa, Levi Matthew has the bemused stare I see on many newborns in just-post-birth-cry mode. I interpret it as being comparable to adults’ “what the h_ll just happened?” look. You must be delighted to see him, even by internet.
Amber, i found myself in the middle unwillingly of an emotional fracas between my D3 and DGS4 over MY car. With 4 adults, 3 with jobs and one in charge of my autistic DGS9 (number, not age - he’s 7), transportation needs have a way of getting misunderstood. Screaming match between the two ensued. On his account, dgs3 is just newly started on a medicine to treat his depression and was heading to his counseling appointment. On d3’s account, she’d just sent dsil3 and child to meet bus and was due to leave for her work at once. Gah! Then sarcastic dsil3 decided to make snarky comments. Ignored the drama as much as possible and focused on “who has or needs what car?” D3 off to work in hers, dgs7 off to appointment, dsil3 left to mutter imprecations at dishes, I left to make healthy choices for breakfast - not. They seemed wise at the time, but when I added things up! Wow! Readjusted the rest of my day to include R&R for my cold and disposition. No work, thank goodness.
Oh, Rebecca! Your post just allowed me to start forgiving myself for some years of awful neglect of my father after mom died and I moved out on my 21st birthday (age of majority for Ohio women then). I would call or write maybe every 6 months. Calling was still expensive in the 60s, but he wrote often, even though dealing with my mentally ill and later drug addicted brother, a failed re-marriage after too short a time and 3 children of hers involved. I realize now that he loved me the same as always, worried about me as always, and wanted to see me as much as I wanted to see him. 2200 miles is a long way, even today. I feel better after reading your post to your son.
More later, maybe! Sharon6 -
One day I'll be able to take a decent selfie. Getting ready to leave for the event.

Heather: Good news about your pleasure with the singing group. YAY! Your white Irises sound gorgeous.
Rita: I hope you feel better soon. :flowerforyou:
NYKaren: The bone density was easy-peasy. There was no need to adjust clothing. I chose to wear yoga pants with no zipper. The scan just looked at my pelvic bones.
Sharon: Great to see your post! I’ve missed your comments & I am happy that you are back..
I did just fine driving on my own to my bone density scan. Traffic was not a problem at this time of morning. DH needed the rest, and I felt good about getting something important checked off on my to-do list.

Just watched yet another inspiring choir programme by Gareth Malone. This one was set in a prison for young offenders. Wow, was it hard, but the results were truly touching. His choir efforts have inspired the nation to get singing.
Another AF day for me today.

@Machka9 Cool, another Canuk in Auz! One of my closest friends from Canada has been living outside Melbourne for 20+ years. Are you close to any fires? There are lots of groups raising funds here to support various wildlife groups in Australia. Thanks again for the welcome4 -
Exercising today starting to get back on track. Food tho left overs. Had no time realizing Daughter snacked on my diet foods do not much left! Celery good but I haven’t bought it after JR it triggers my IBS now used to be my favorite veggie. Eating a banana pepper at the moment which used to trigger now can eat it up go figure my body a puzzle 🧩 that even I don’t get anymore. Portion control y no snacking on the wrong things made a kale salad to munch on with Apple y granola y nuts in it.
Had hubby handle the baby doctor office I went to about them trying to push me into health care insurance changes . Was so confusing with my brain fog almost brought me to tears. (seasonal allergies they put JR on a month or two of Zyrtec for babies). Their paperwork no longer paper 📝 but electronic cause they got bought out by a company it times you!!! If it times you out cause your too slow they have to reset it you restart.Im not even sure what I signed or wrote lots of guesses probably wrong social for baby thinking it meant me.If it asked hubby it’s probably mine or JRs in that spot.It times me out continuously! Not one question about the visit tho. On the phone they asked how much he makes so he said more than Trump threw out a huge number said none of your buisness. Think I heard the girl whisper Boomer. What the hell does that mean? Is it code for rebels! At least we got the good Doctor this time. She read her coworkers scribbles from last visits y commented “She’s CRAZY!!” , “Oh you saw Dr Perez he fat large midsection yet worried about baby weight should worry about his own”. Yup love that Woman 3ft 70lb Filipino with no filter thinks like me! I’d take her home if I could! She said give Pooh a bath today since we went out of the house with Daughter a bunch (skin eczema precaution in case dust bunnies got picked up ).
Holidays gain 5lbs. So next few days loose that again. Baby Dr afraid I’ll over do it she made me promise to slowly pack up the tree y stuff. She’s right . Thinking try my new exercise band for 5-10min today. Clean air fryer. Maybe clean out Daughter room later wipe y vacuum got days to do it.
Amber Tx

Julie – yes, Benadryl helped. No itching through night or today. I am feeling like a bit of cold may be coming on. Going to bed early and try to fight it back. So much stuff going around and I have dodged everything so far!
Rebecca – awesome news about your son! When my son was overseas, communication was hit or miss, especially when deployed away from home base. Think you handled it well—when they reach out, just keep them updated. In between times, just send random texts and letters. Too bad about pen pal, but I guess it works like in interacting with people in person-click with some and not with others. At least she had courtesy to explain her reasons and did just stop responding.
Kim- glad you got mom to doctor. Hope meds help. Good of you to be so supportive of your nephew.
Barbara – I was trying to think if there was any food that caused it. I am not certain but will stay on the lookout for that if future occurrences. I took amoxicillin for years until I had an allergic reaction, so I know what you mean.
Karen in Virginia – hadn’t thought about the temperature thing. Will also pay attention to that. BTW- black licorice is awesome! I weigh some out for a snack with some regularity. Lillianna is adorable!
Going to have some tea and go to bed. Got chilled this afternoon, sinuses feel full, ears a bit achy. Hope it is all better after sleep. Of course, I am started to be amazed that anyone is dodging the junk going around. And the news tonight is not helping my mood, so will watch "The Curse of Oak Island."

Stuck to calorie limit for 2 days ... dropped to early Dec weight. That's down about 800 grams. Now I need to keep sticking to my calorie limit for the rest of the week and see what I can accomplish!
My husband is busy harvesting, blanching and freezing carrots yesterday and today so we'll have lots of veggies! I was sneaking carrot pieces while he was doing it last night.
He's doing it in small batches because he gets tired after about an hour or so .. but that's one way to get things done. Work for an hour, rest for a couple hours, work for an hour, etc.

Rebecca I am so glad you "heard" from son. I remember being in the Philippines when modern technology wasn't available. Letters to and from home kept me connected with my family. You handled it wonderfully!
LisaAK Levi is adorable! He is a big boy! I wish you answers at your doctor appointment.
Catching up at the moment. Finished page 20
LOL!
