@Snowflake1968 your new deck looks amazing! Great job decorating! Really like the square metal planters on the steps.

@clicketykeys WTG on lowest weigh-in!! Yea!!

@cschmitz110515 Thanks for your continuing prayers ... it means a great deal.

@jenwalkingfurther Sodium is difficult for me to keep low as well, darn it! Drink extra water for a couple of days; that usually helps me.

@teigansdad Raspberries!! YUM!! Hope you did well in your race.

@TerriRichardson112 Thank you for your prayers.

    JFT R 5/28 ~ rest day

    2) Meals prelogged / net calories green / 14c water
    3) Work in office / organize papers & electronics to work at home F
    4) Wash towels / 1 other home chore
    5) FLOSS / RETAINERS

Last night had wonderful phone chat ex-roommate from college. Except her hubby was trying to contribute about trivial stuff early in the call. We wore him out, though ~ our call lasted two hours! I really miss her, wish we weren't so many miles apart.

Working in my office today. Learned when I signed in at the front desk (new protocol) the father of someone who works down the hall from my dept. passed away several days ago and tested positive. He was elderly and apparently had lots of underlying health issues. The receptionist (not wearing a mask) stressed wearing my mask, and CFO also down the hall stressed social distancing, which we do anyway. Just a little paranoid now.

@Snowflake1968 I love your deck! Very nicely done! You SHOULD be proud! Building a deck is hard work and yours turned out perfect. Love the lights around the outside of it!

@cesse47 It sounds like you are getting quite the daily workout!! Your brother is lucky to have you! You are doing important things that he doesn't have to take time out to do and that is a HUGE help! I am so sorry about what your community is going through, but I do love hearing about the people coming together and helping. It restores my faith in humanity. Hugs to you! :flowerforyou:

@cschmitz110515 You are a Rock Star to walk with your dog yesterday morning! It had to be brutal with that humidity! I would've dropped after one block! I'm sorry to hear about your colleague's father! I also would be paranoid...I'm still furloughed and not hatin' it! I'm going to be extremely paranoid to go back to work. I travel between clinics to support providers some days and I'm high risk...just want to retire and not go back at this point! :mask:

@PackerFanInGB - congratulations on getting under 180. I made it there last summer for about 5 minutes and am right back to 200 as of this morning. I need to get at it again as none of my clothes fit.

@HEGoddard0928 - welcome back! What is the next step with your novel? Do you have to find an agent?

My day went better than expected. Hopefully tomorrow is the same.

    Have a great day y'all!

Well I found a dress for the wedding and an outfit for the bridal shower. Clothes shopping is tough because you can’t try things on and I don’t wear a consistent size. I bought clothes at the 3 stores that were open. Came home tried them on, then returned all of said clothes and bought more clothes. I have another pile of returns.

My oldest went with me for the second trip and we took time to get mani/pedis. It was nice spending time with her. Then did a 3.5 mile walk for a total of 17k steps yesterday.

I got to bed before11:00, but woke up at 1:45am. It’s now 3:30 and I’m updating my JFT. Not good but a little too common right now.

No real plans other than work and fake tanning today. I think iris supposed to rain all day.

    JFT Friday

    - Early morning meeting
    - Shower/shave/tan
    - 10k steps
    - Nap
    - Log everything
    - Stay green

    - Bed by 11:00

Morning ladies and gents! I hope you are all doing wonderful this morning. It's 6:11 am here right now. I've been up for about an hour. This is the earliest I've been awake since before my surgery in February. It's kinda nice but also pretty terrible at the same time. Lol. My bff from Seattle is still awake from last night because she's 3 hours behind us. It's such a strange feeling knowing that I'm up for the day and she hasn't been to sleep yet. Lol.

So today is Matt's first day back to work since the middle of March and he only fell asleep about an hour ago. His alarm is going to ring in 15 minutes. I feel bad for him because he's working a 10-hour shift today too. It'll be a really easy day for him and I'm going to stock him full of caffeine before he leaves so hopefully that will help too. This is what he gets for spending his entire time off staying up late playing video games. I know that some of it are also probably worries. But I think he'll be okay. He'll just be dead tired when he gets home.

I don't know what I'm going to do for the 12ish hours I'll be home alone today though. For the last two months, I've been home with Matt and now I won't be. It's going to be such a change. I'll have to figure out what to do with myself! Lol. I'll probably do some writing. It's supposed to be 80+ degrees out today and humid so a walk probably won't be happening. I have to return some things to the store and I have to go pick up a few things at a different store so maybe I'll go do that too. I have to be home for a heating oil delivery though. I want to top off our tank while the prices are still super low.

Wow...Sorry for the ramble! Onto some goals

    JFT, 5/29/20

    - STAY AWAKE! Do not go back to sleep!
    - Oil delivery
    - Write the next scene
    - Return items to Walmart
    - Pick up coffee at Ollie's
    - Make a comprehensive shopping list
    - Look over bills
    - Update check book
    - Do day two of workout plan/yoga
    - Look for a new series to start reading

Okay so that's a few more things than I thought. Lol

@Snowflake1968 Right now the novel I just finished needs some HEAVY edits but I'm leaving it alone for a time while I work on this next completely different one. I can't decide if I want to go the traditional publishing route or if I want to self publish. The main reason I wouldn't want to self-pub is because it can cost a lot of money upfront for the possibility of not much return but trad-pub is a lot of work trying to find agents and publishers who want to work with your story. It's also A LOT of rejection. Most authors these days end up going the self-pub route because they've given up on finding an agent or they just don't want to be bothered with it. My book of poetry is self-pubbed but I do little to no marketing for it so there are no sales. That's the main issue(other than the cost) with that avenue. You have to do all of your own marketing. It's definitely not easy. Especially if you're trying to write another novel and working/raising a family all at the same time. Sorry for writing this novel as an explanation.

Okay. I think that's it. Love you guys!

πŸ‘πŸ» Great to see you posting again. Cut yourself some slack, and don’t stress too much about slipping back. I think we’re all in the same boat with this situation.
Hurrah for the unemployment coming through.
Fingers crossed 🀞🏻 every goes well today when Matt goes back to work.

Looks like you plan to keep busy. Don’t forget to pamper yourself a little and enjoy the freedom.

I’ve been working on my memoir, prompted by a request from my grandson for an unusual birthday present for his birthday just before Easter. He asked DH and me to answer questions about our lives, then subsequently sent us 56 questions. Fortunately, I have already got a mountain of pieces already, and DH and I have been enjoying collaborating on the project. I’m putting it together and printing it out for him, but I’m gonna need a bigger folder than I thought. I may get it printed later and give copies to the rest of the family later.

@TerriRichardson112 That sounds amazing! I wish my grandparents had done that. I only have the stories from my Dad. I'm hoping one day he lets us record them. He has one of the best memories I've ever encountered but sometimes he likes to exaggerate. Lol. My mom calls him King of the Tall Tale Tellers. Also, I'm going to spend some time writing today and maybe finish reading a book I've been putting off. Those are usually pretty relaxing to me. Lol

    Scale goals
    End of 2017: 174.6
    End of 2018: 189.2
    End of 2019: 196.4
    End of January: 194.6
    End of February: 196.2
    End of March: 193.8
    End of April: 192.6
    Today: 189.6

    Ongoing plans/ideas behind the cut
    1. Purchases: Look for an "ugly Christmas sweater" and a long-haired doll at thrift stores. Practice French braiding. Go to used bookstore and look for On Writing (Stephen King), Dying for a Paycheck (Robin Hardman), The Prince (tr. Tim Parks, Russell Price, or Robert Adams), The Secret Adversary (Christie).
    2. E2: What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Create vocabulary lists for each unit that come from the texts used: Animal Farm, Julius Caesar, Wes Moore, I Am Malala. Find a way to incorporate changing words from one part of speech to another. Students need to know how to review multiple sources and synthesize information in order to draw a conclusion. Need practice with the difference between transitions and overlapping (at end of paragraph - "another issue is Y" vs "there are other issues besides X"). Quit using "in conclusion" and "I believe" and other writing-about-my-writing phrases. Confusion between direct/indirect objects and prepositional phrases. Use the UDHR and the Declaration of Independence to study paraphrasing; use that to front-load Machiavelli and how to deal with challenging texts. Confusion between everyday / every day and similar constructions.
    3. E1: Need practice with quoting & paraphrasing sources, identifying claims that would need support, use of last names for reference, and capitalization practice (common/proper nouns, titles). Difficulty using possessive nouns in their own writing. Honors: practice subject/object pronouns (my friend and I / my friend and me). Poetry: Revise "Songs are Poetry" handouts.
    4. Curriculum Development: Writing mini-unit. Review scholarly research on 5PE. (I think I can have this as an intro to the research unit so that they also get exposure to how quotes are integrated and cited.) Parallel structure; use of emotional language, specific detail. Use "Write About a Pebble" lesson from Atwell. How long should each unit take? Do research on characteristics: curiosity, persistence, resilience, creativity, responsibility, optimism, courage, integrity, authenticity, leadership, self-awareness, humility, compassion - others? Include grammarly check on essays! Review assessments. What is the purpose for each unit? What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Schedule assessments for Fall 2019; plan out return times. Write 1 reflection weekly; type one in Classroom by Weds. Copy-paste to discussion board for comments due Friday. Homework: Online journal Mon due Tue; Reflection Tue due Wed; C&P journal in class Wed; Comments Thu due Fri. Bonus if you are the first response; further bonus if you respond to comments on your post. Grammar practice Mon & Wed; quiz Fri.
    5. Professional Development: Write blog post weekly. Comment on 3 posts each week - Tu Th Sun? Check with PSC. Talk with Z about articles and/or conference proposals. NOTE: ATTENDED PRE FLEX DAY.
    6. Medical: Dentist Apr 30 8 AM but check on meetings and RS. Onco Apr ???. PCP Schedule for July. ObG schedule for October. PCP - allergy shots? left toe joints. Sleep center 778 3316.
    7. Theater: 1984.
    8. House: Crawl space repairs. After that - siding? Or perhaps bathroom floor.
    9. Fun: Open beading on Thursdays. Coloring at library on Tuesday. Put jewelry away. Edney Hack Nights alt Weds. ASL? Spanish/Portuguese practice? Practice piano. ROL Secret Adversary. Buy bike rack for car.
    10. Volunteering ideas: Theater. Library. Animal shelter. Community Kitchen. Emerge Georgia training.
    11. Family: Google Hangout.
    12. Other: Practice hair braiding with D. Check on appts for drs. Remind D to ask his dad about the table and check with home repair contractors. START BLOGGING AGAIN. 3 posts/week? Create test for MLA format. Create test for infographics and visual information. Therapy exercises: lunges, push-ups, ankle lifts, box jumps, plank. Remember that M does not like surprises! Check dates of classes and update semester plan. She Should Run vision statement. Update standards on board. When to change bulletin board?

WFTY: Progress. I haven't been out of the 190s in a year. Now let's see if I can keep heading in the same direction.

:mask:

Thank you! Have to admit, I hate walking when it's hot and humid. But I knew Thursday would be rainy, plus I was working from my office that day, and I try not to take two consecutive days as rest. Yesterday I adapted to the idea that there may always be "someone" either positive or asymptomatic near me, and I'll follow the recommended precautions (mask, social distancing, hand washing) but I can't live in fear. Tbh I wish I could retire too, I've been enjoying "working" from home. I'm old enough to claim SS benefits, but hubby is not. The main reason is the cost of health insurance, which would be pricey. I have an app called Final Countdown, set to when I turn 65. Before I forget, BIG congrats on your reaching your mini-goal! Onward and downward!

@clicketykeys Congratulations on your w-i that is wonderful!

    1L of water
    Log all food

@pridesabtch - reading your post about shopping, mani/pedi made me forget for a minute that the world is still upside down. It must have been a nice day for you.

@HEGoddard0928 - no need to apologize for the explanation that all makes sense to me. I guess you need to have faith in your book and yourself no matter how you do it.

@TerriRichardson112 - that birthday request is the biggest compliment. What type of questions did he ask? I am working on doing books for my daughters for Christmas. I am using my Mom's diaries as a jumping off point to jog my memory of certain things. I also have my Grandmother's diaries covering the same period. I am going to put their diary entries and then I'll write my memory. I need to get at this more heavily.

@clicketykeys - Your goals seem so short compared to what they used to be, I hope you aren't as stressed now as you were.

I am at work, it is 33 degrees celsius in here right now as there is a problem with our air system. I don't know how long it will take to get this fixed, but I hope its soon.

Tonight my youngest is supposed to come out and enjoy a deck visit late into the evening. I am so excited. I may stop and buy some adult beverages. I haven't had even one since her wedding last July. I am not a big drinker anyway, but it might be a nice way to spend an evening. I just need the weather to cooperate .

@Snowflake1968 - Dunno about that. There's less that I have to remember at the summer job that I'm at. And there's less change-around day to day. But just with this year being as crappy as it's been... bleugh. I don't know that I'm less stressed.
