Carol- I wipe down certain things but not all .food Mail delivered to door 🚪 I don’t track it for weeks to a-month darn stuff should be dead by now! Bought at store depends is it bread or tortilla or meats going straight in the fridge I don’t. Box of cereal or canned I put in back of pantry the clean ones in front so by the time we use them it will have been weeks. Some we leave in the garage awhile until it’s been weeks. Bag of salad mix type stuff YES I do cause it has to be used right away! Creamer bottles yes!! Juice in fridge yes! Especially since we naturally forage in refrigerators touch everything

SuziQ: Have I already laughed at this wonderful message? If not, I should have done. Here is my reply: May the 4th is upon us. Lettuce romaine wise and diligent in choosing our daily salad. Do not succumb to the chilly iceberg. It lacks strength and fiber.

We have been enjoying our view of the river. Today we saw the Osprey dive into the water in front of our house and fly away with a fish to feed its family. Far more rare, we also had a Bald Eagle land at the edge of the river bank and get a drink of water in full view of DH and me. After getting a good drink and bath, the Bald Eagle flew away. Sadly, we didn't manage to get a good photo.

Have a good day and stay safe.

RV Rita.....these are for you. I can't seem to get a really good picture of her web. She has pieced together an octagon of connecting full webs. It's beautiful. Her dead mate is hanging in one of them. Oh, if it were only so easy....😆

Pip! ... someone as coordinated as you are on a bike fell walking!?! So sorry for your injuries ...

Tonya ... welcome! Very sorry for your loss...

Michele ... to be honest, the idea of people returning food items is kinda gross to me. I understand returning a spoiled or expired item, but that's about it.

Machka ... glad to see you posting again. Without question, your fatigue is a delayed stress response. Listen to your body's signals.

Made a hair appointment for May 19th as I saw on her front door that she is opening up next week. I was one of her last customers before the lockdown and she could hardly believe she might have to close. I told her it was extremely likely. I don't think she believed me.
I will do all the hand sanitizing stuff and may devise some kind of mask that doesn't get in the way of the hair trim. I may wash my hair at home and just go in for the trim and then dry it at home. It is just around the corner.

I have been wiping down everything coming into the house. All vegetables are cleaned too, if loose. If not loose the vegetable bags are also wiped down.

I did get a pair of sneakers delivered. I knew when they shipped so I opened shipping box outside and did not worry about the one inside because my hands were washed before removing it and bringing in to the house.

I know at least 70% of us will eventually get this virus. If I'm one of that percentage I would rather it be when more proven medicines are available and the hospitals are not in crisis mode.

    Love it!

What great nature you have around you. I am always amazed at the precision of a hunting bird.

i still feel exhausted. it seems like it's physical more than emotional, cause i've had some good news, nice conversations, etc. i feel a bit worn out all day. and am not up for my longish walks these days. and there was definitely a dip a few days ago. i finally made an appointment for a CT scan for wednesday. i'm apprehensive about the radiation for a CT scan. i think my GP recommended it if the fatigue continued and we didn't find any other source. (i have a prescription given in jan). i was putting it off. i hope it'll be useful. i was supposed to have specialist blood work up in march but that's pushed forward to june due to confinement starting march 17 here. it was too much of an emergency context then to maintain regular appointments.

I hope you're able to get the tests done soon.

    Karen,
Thank you for sharing the story of your relationship with your father. I can understand his pain to think all the girls were sexually active and why it would trouble him so.

Oh Drat! Copied Barbie’s “Chicken in Peanut Sauce” recipe, forgetting that I’d saved a HYUGE! post-in-process. I’m not going back, so consider my usual sort of reply, each of you, except you, Tonya, since you don’t know me yet. Stick around! What I’ve read of your posts so far are very relatable. I lost my father 30 years ago VERY suddenly. He’d had a quadruple bypass and valve replacement several years before, then went out for a walk as usual one afternoon. A group of construction workers saw him fall. Two knew CPR, and one ran to telephone. Ambulance was there in minutes, but he was gone. Autopsy said “massive cardiac event”. We’ve all wondered since then whether he got one of the “exploding” replacement valves. I had no money to go back 2200 miles for the funeral. I was saddened for me and my daughters who’d met him for the first time a few months before at ages 12, 10 and 3. Even the 3yo still has some memories, for which I’m grateful. He’d been left to raise my brother and I alone at ages 14 and 18 when my mother died of breast cancer. Both of us became very troubled. My brother was institutionalized for the next 5 years and addicted to drugs for a good part of the rest of his life. I got put on academic probation at college my 2nd year (mom died in my 1st) and crawled into a bottle for a number of years, making horrible choices for husbands and lovers three times. When my dad and stepmom came to visit I was newly sober and not quite ready to confide in him yet, for fear I’d lapse. I now have 35 years.

Barbara AHMOD, I’m sorry to hear of the sudden death of one of your instructors! Somehow every relationship is invested with a special aura just now. We’re all more acutely aware of loss from any cause just now. Take time to miss them.

All the baby /flower/window/wildlife/scenery posters! Thank you!

Oh dear, Pip! I hope you heal quickly with no permanent rearrangement of that charming grin!

Rita, your photos are always so lovely and/or interesting! Loved the lizard too.

Barbie (?), thank you for the chicken recipe! I’m tempted to try that with shrimp, if which I have an over abundance in my freezer right now!

Ginny, I’m so relieved to hear your cat is back! Since I live surrounded by a state forest on 3sides and overgrown clear cut on the 4th mine became indoor only after the loss of old Mr. Topsy 5 years ago. Andromeda’s never known the out-of-doors. Goldie rarely escapes, but can usually be coaxed back in after a while by yelling “Nummies!” and shaking a bag of what the UK folks call “Dreamies” from inside the sleeping porch.

    The view from my window!

I'm not a costco member, any idea about how many pounds of chicken is in a Costco bag? That recipe sounds amazing.

:) The bag of boneless chicken thighs is about 1.75 pounds. When you buy chicken at Costco it comes in a packaging that is three separate bags connected and I used only one of the three bags. I looked at more chicken I had in my freezer and the current three pack was 5.19 pounds for the three bags.

:)Carol, I don't wipe down the things I get from the grocery store or Costco. I guess we each have to decide just how thorough to be.

    Regarding tough old chickens:

One way to deal with a tough old bird is to boil it & cut the meat into stew sized bites or smaller, then make chicken pot pie & chicken soup. If that doesn’t help, you might experiment with a grinder and make chicken burger.

Or, half the breasts so you get two thinner ones and pound the heck out of it. Good way to tackle stress too. ;)
