Amber, I had no idea until you joined our group some of the things that were on youtube. I have used it to learn to install a garbage disposal, to trim a climber rose and a couple of other learning things, but oh my there is a lot of stuff you have introduced me too, that honestly could suck up all my free time. I think for me it is a good thing to stay far far away from.

Heather - I had not realized that lemons were so pricey there I googled a bit and 3pounds a lemon!? here they are 49 cents each! I have a tree full in my backyard, if I ever win the lottery and come to visit I'll bring a suitcase full of lemons and sell them, it would make my airfare back. LOL
Kim in N. california
Yes ... lemons grow all over the place here. Back when we worked together in offices, when the lemons all over the place come ripe, there's always a big bowl of them in the office kitchens with a sign, "Free" next to them.
My first year in Australia, I was given a big bag of them from someone's tree ... and then had to figure out what to do with them all!!!

You know, it’s interesting, all of these confirmed cases. Death from other diseases has really dropped off. Well, that’s because the more they can attribute to C-19, the more federal funding they get. So things that may not have been c-19 related are being determined to be. Michele NC
It's vaguely possible that may be true in the US, but it is definitely not true in Australia.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/medicare-hospitals-covid-patients/M – why would you rather go for your PhD in Canada?
I have attended university in both Canada and Australia and prefer the way that Canadian universities teach. Of course, they may have changed their methods ... it has been 11 years since I've attended a Canadian university!!
However, if I ever feel ready to go for a PhD, I would first research a number of universities in Australia and Canada to determine which one had the best program. At the moment University of British Columbia has a program that interests me.
But it's not going to happen for a while, so if I am ever in a position to look into it seriously, I'll decide then.

Kim- Lol so true especially since their free movies to rv on you tube too lol 😂.

Well JRs pretend version of his sister in his play phone ☎️ 📲 apparently praises him for making messes. Lol 😂 his Sister I’m sure will find this funny. How she’s causing mischief without even being here is beyond me lol . “Yes Sister I’m a Good Boy I make the best big messes!! “ hubby fell over laughing grabbing his chest. Hubby then tried to tell pretend version of Sister how he sooo good he will help mommy clean up his big messes. JR just said nope Sister said to drive my car. Troublemakers lol 😂. He did agree to help get Dads water to take his meds y fetch things he needed while I cleaned it up. Even tossed Daddy’s trash away.3 -
Allie - that makes sense to me, we’ve all been cooped up too long to risk losing some precious freedom.
Amber - what app do you use? Do you walk across a state as a challenge? That sounds interesting.
Kim - Thank you for converting the price of lemons for Heather, I was confused as to how expensive lemons could be.
Barbie - your comment about “not grill people” made me think about who I knew that didn’t grill and I realized I grew up with no grills at home. Dad tried to make some with the old charcoal briquettes and rocks, there’s a story there that I’ll share in a spoiler later. We did go to several parks in our area and beyond and had wonderful picnics with my grandparents, parents and sometimes Aunts and Uncles. What a sweet memory you brought up. Thank you.
Rodger finished the deck today and I had fun decorating it this evening. I just love it, we sat out for a bit tonight but it was cold and then started raining.

The story about Dad’s attempt at making fire to grill on.My Dad was a brilliant man and could do anything handy that you would ever need. A “Jack of all Trades”. One summer Sunday when I would be 6 in September and my brother had turned 2 in February my Dad decided he would made a grill in the yard and we would have a picnic.
He bought charcoal briquettes and placed them inside a circle of rocks. He would attempt to light it but it wouldn’t go. It would heat up and turn to ash but not get that brilliant red that’s required for grilling. He moved a few feet and added another circle of rocks. He did this about 4 times along the dirt driveway.
I was his go-fer “go for this, go for that”. At one time when I was gone to get something my brother decided to take my seat. I had been sitting on a little red wooden chair that was my Mother’s as a little girl. I asked my brother to move but he was 2 and didn’t listen to me. I asked again and he still didn’t listen. Dad told me to leave him be, but of course I didn’t listen. As soon as Dad turned his back I pulled the chair out from under my Brother. He fell arm first into one of these little piles of charcoal my Dad had made. The charcoal was not hot enough to cook on but it was hot enough to give my brother 2nd degree burns.
He still has scars and relishes telling anyone that will listen, often more than once that I pushed him in a fire. When I was home when our grandmother passed away we had a bonfire and roasted marshmallows and hotdogs the night before my girls and I were flying back to Alberta. His son was 5 at the time, my brother says “Wyatt, you stay clear of Aunt Tracey around that fire, she likes to push little boys in fires. In 2016 when I took my Grandchildren home he warmed my Grandson as well. It’s all in good fun and I truly enjoyed this little trip down memory lane. I think I need to call my brother this weekend.

Day 2 of my re-commitment is in the bag. I managed to stay under my calorie goal today! Only by 4 calories, but I'll take it! I went for a nice 5.5 km walk, took me about an hour, so fairly good clip. It earned me 467 calories, so thank heavens for that! lol Tomorrow I will bike to work and back, that's good for about 750 cal. Sure feels good when I'm done! lol
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating!
Evelyn, Vancouver Island, where the weather today was glorious!

Rori I am so very sorry you are going through so much at one time…any one of the things you talked about would be too much. Sending hugs and prayers for things to get better NOW, and life to give you a major break!!
I am behind on reading and a bit overwhelmed by all that is going on with everyone! I guess it is all a part of the current normal which I hope does not last much longer.
We live in an area where people do not seem to be willing to take precautions. I am scared what things will look like in the next couple of weeks.

I am up and having my tea and watching morning news..

I got up feeling excited about another day at home and beautiful weather for working in the yard this morning. Then Jake announces that we are in desperate need of laundry soap and won't last the weekend and he'll go get some today, if I won't. I know that there is enough to do at least six loads which will be more than enough to allow me to wait until next week to go to Costco which had been my plan. But a miracle happens and I don't snap back at him. Instead I remember one of my shelter at home mantras--"do what's best for the relationship". So my answers is "Sure, I can go to Costco today".
What a great solution for you to get to care for Faith and go the beach, too.
I have had to stop watching the news. There is so much misinformation out there much of it intended to get people all riled up.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all,
Allie - glad you're going to talk to the doc.
Cooled down from the elliptical - just about to jump in the shower.
Work's still weird, still in coventry. Have to directly ask pointed questions to achieve what little contact I get from my supervisor, and am trying womanfully to resist my own passive aggressive tendencies. Not my finest trait, obviously. Just want to get done with this without actively starting a conflagration. Six more business days after today.
I've figured out how much I'm getting paid for every day they keep me on staff, and I just keep that out in front of me. Had to figure that they might just release me first day, so I budgeted that way, and each dollar I make now goes straight into savings, yay!
Anyway... I'm off to get in the shower and then get the one remaining grant that still needs doing completed. Next week, if they keep me on that long, I'll be sitting on my hands...
Impatient to begin this new journey...
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa

well... today is the last day, then week off from work. were going to the alaska cruise but that got cancelled. then we were going to take the airstream and go to oregon, to an RV park but then the discussion and decision to sell the house now vs later came up so i suggested that we just stay home and start prepping the house and do stuff at home. so he cancelled the RV reservation. i've been posting things on offer up and let go. so what we have going on is
1. Pay to have the house pressure washed (vynal siding) * we have a pressure washer, so i will do some on my own.
2. ordered boxes and start taking down pics off the walls to get it ready for "staging" the house for pics and virtual tour
3. Pay to have a service do deep cleaning on the inside of the house
4. replace and paint a board in the front if the house
5. Go pick out carpet and have it installed in 2 of the rooms that still have carpet
6. Put a slab of paint on the back deck

Um ... well ... sort of ...
These are just some of the instructions ...
• Press SOS button for 3 seconds until it vibrates … it will call list of phone numbers until real person replies.
• Press SOS button once to stop calling.
• Press side button until it vibrates … it will ring my phone.
Now suppose you've just had a tonic clonic seizure and you've finally come out of it enough so that you're aware of your surroundings. What possible chance will you have of remembering any of those instructions???
"Fortunately", I guess, if he did have a seizure, when he fell it is supposed to notice that and start going through that list of phone numbers.
Oh, and you have to put 5 phone numbers in. I don't have 5 people to call so I ended up using things like my mobile number and my work number etc. The fifth is Triple 0.
Different ones are different, and if I had to purchase one, I'd do a lot more investigation but we were given a choice of two and this one seemed a bit better than the other one.

Yesterday we walked in the Botanical Gardens ...
Several photos here, starting with the tall brick wall ... https://www.flickr.com/photos/machka-bb/albums/72157713457774586/page2
Then today, I went for a 5.8 km run. I'm struggling with my calves on my runs lately ... they get really tight. I stopped once to stretch and it seemed to help a bit but not much. However, this is part of my route ...
and more in the album linked above.

Lisa: I wouldn’t be surprised at anything the “leadership” decides to do. My guess is that one person wanted you gone and others realize how much you do for the organization. They may not want to lose your help. It will be interesting to see what happens among them. As long as you end up happy, I’ll be happy for you. :flowerforyou:
Pip: You have a big list of to-dos and I’m betting you’ll get every one of them done.
Machka: In our area the fire department does emergency health support. If they can’t get the issue under control they take the person to the closest hospital. I had to call them for DH a few months ago. He’s diabetic and had an extremely low blood sugar episode. I gave DH sucrose tabs, called 911 and the fire department’s paramedics came. They saved his life by giving him intravenous glucose. If needed, they would have taken him to the nearest hospital, about 30 miles away. Luckily, their IV glucose got the job done. Years ago my aunt fell and got trapped in her bathroom. She had a device that automatically called the paramedics when she pressed the button. They had to break into her house to get her to the hospital. She had terminal cancer and eventually passed away at the hospital. Would your DH be able to get a similar device?

Evelyn You were clipping right along on that walk! Sound like you have a fresh start. Your energy is contagious!
>>>
Tracey What a beautiful space your husband created. Very nice. Tell him "Well Done!"
>>>
Heather Oh the precious picture of the kids at seaside, and Bea with her 'tude! Makes my heart go pitter-patter. Such life force on that beach.
>>>
Pip Wow! when you guys decide to do something, no moss grows under your feet! I have to admit (though I am loathe to compliment you, given our current challenge) you and Kirby are truly inspiring.
>>>
Lisa Yeah. Divest yourself emotionally. Do the minimum to get the grant done in a way you will be OK with and then Step Away. Not worth engaging at this point; not a good way to leave the company, and counterproductive. Your manager's problems are no longer your problem. “¯\_(ツ)_/¯“ Water off a duck's back.

Tonya Love the pouty nap face, and the happy pics w/grandparents.

I still keep in touch with all of my major past loves except for two, and I would keep up with them if I could find them…
My first love, Bill from junior high, who reminds me from time-to-time that the first slow dance at a Rainbow Girls dance in 7th grade was House of the Rising Sun, and he fell in love with me that night.
My first ex-husband Rick, who co-grandparents with me, is my dear friend & occasional lunch buddy, & loves my female spouse.
My live-in boyfriend while I was a post-grad, Steve, was the most sensitive lover and most thoughtful man.
The heartthrob of my life Bobby who broke my heart after a whirlwind romance, gorgeous, dark, tortured, utterly addicting individual.
My second ex-husband retired Army Major Billy who keeps up with me on FB. He was the naked ballerina who pursed his lips and kept eye contact as he pirouetted. I am still friends with 2 of his adult children, both amazing accomplished women.
I don't know how to contact either Steve or Bobby.
Are all of you confused about how I ended up with a woman? Me too. All I can say is You Love Who You Love. Ours is a platonic relationship, based on mutual interests, goals, values...and love. Do you think me strange? I like to think I'm just not governed by convention.

Amber - That was a very interesting video. I expected the portions to be larger, but all those extra ingredients, the hydrogenated fats ugh! Plus, what were they doing to the fries?!! Colouring?!
Our diet is pretty grim in the UK , but the S.A.D. diet is really sad. (Standard American Diet) Now you ladies on here are all eating clean, right?
Tonight's dinner is skate with beurre noir and capers and asparagus. Not a chemical in sight!
Went for my 5k along the seafront. Knee was grumbling, but it survived. I forgot to strap it. Luckily there was a breeze, but it was a bit hot for me in the sun. However, I made it home, just about.
Quite a few people on the beach, but quite good separation of groups. The only people we saw ignoring guidelines were boys about 13-14, who were walking together, or playing football. Hope they are not visiting their granny next week. It would have been half term this week, so I guess a lot of people had holidays booked that they can't go to. My lot should have been in Malta with the other grandparents.
When we got home I found a card from the Royal Mail, who had tried to deliver my pistachio oil. It has to be signed for, so I have been online and rescheduled delivery for Saturday. I guess they need a signature because it's quite expensive. It was meant to be a present for my son, but he wanted a heart monitor instead. I'm happy to enjoy the pleasure.
This has been one of the driest Mays ever. We had the sunniest ever April and the wettest February. Now we really do need rain. Everything is looking very parched.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx1
