Yesterday's run was uneventful. Hot enough to warrant lots of walk breaks. Can summer be over already?

@rheddmobile Agreed that it's probably the fireworks. The air quality index is always *kitten* in Beijing around Chinese New Year for the same reason.

@bearly63 no idea. from the stickers it looks like there will be long runs and ones that are about elevation, maybe a new trail/route. i'm sad there is no t-shirt.

    01/07 7km
    03/07 7km
    05/07 10km

Total 24km of 85km for July

Off to a good start this month! Sunday was glorious, sunny and warm, but breezy. As it was so nice, I thought I'd see if I could run 10K, and I did - faster than my virtual race time three weeks ago! I'm massively chuffed with that!

@katharmonic - that looks like a challenging hike / climb, but with beautiful scenery!

@Elise4270 - Ouch! That looks so painful. I wish you a speedy recovery.

    Goals for the year:
    1. Get back down to a decent running weight (currently set at 160lb)
    2. Run a sub-60 minute 10K
    3. Run a race this year, hopefully.

    Current races planned:
14/06 Lincoln 10K - Postponed. Running for fun instead
17/10 Autumn Richmond Riverside Run (10K)
    01/11 Lincoln 10K - new date. Here's hoping

Great job @hmaddpear! And thanks, it was definitely a huge challenge but worth it. I'm always so in awe of seeing those views, it takes away all the pain of getting up there!

Today was my last day off before returning to work. I went to the gym this morning, and then I spent part of the afternoon meal prepping for the rest of the week. 3 miles + rowing machine

@Teresa502 that sounds like a great long weekend! Enjoy the run tomorrow - that sounds lovely. A guy I might hiking a couple of weeks ago lives in Knoxville and was telling us all about Gatlinburg and hiking in the Smoky Mtns.

    07/01/20 :::: 2.6 :::: 2.6
    07/02/20 :::: 5.0 :::: 7.6

@PastorVincent i am not a cat person. At. All.

So I’m glad the bunny lived.

    Ran/walked/biked 3.5 this evening.

I don’t remember what my goal for June was, but I ended it with 171 miles. That’s more than I’ve ever done in my life in a month.

Last week I ended with 105 point something miles.

Again, I don’t know how to properly refuel or recover so best thing I can think of to do is sleep and listen to my body :)

    July Total: 49k
    July Goal: 170k

    January Total: 161k
    February Total: 167k
    March Total: 181k
    April Total: 191k
    May Total: 200k
    June Total: 156k

    2020 Total through June: 1056k

Partly cloudy, upper 60s F, and no breeze. Had no major pain at all -- just the usual assortment of niggles that constitute my customary running companions. Probably helped that I went into new shoes yesterday. Old shoes can do a lot of things, but new shoes will never hurt you.

Pavement Pounders passed the 1,400 mile mark. Thank goodness @kgirlhart is doing all the heavy lifting and taking me along for the ride.

When you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?

Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs
Run at least 4 5k races
    Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles
Stretch goal: If I can average 169k per month, I can run 2020k in 2020

Run the Year Team: Pavement Pounders

    2020 races:

9-19 Race for the Parks 5k, Hudson, OH
10-11 Haunted Hustle 5k, Aurora, OH

Trying to catch up from being out of touch for 4 days. My internet service went out and my cell service seemed to be worse than normal too, so I didn't do much on line. Everyone is doing great getting out in the heat to run. Hugs to those who are battling injuries.

@Scott6255 Glad to hear you got in a short run and did okay. That's great news.

Wow @katharmonic ! That's some hike! You continue to amaze me. Love the pictures. It's so pretty!

@rheddmobile That's crazy about the air quality the morning after fireworks. I had never thought of that before.

@Teresa502 Have fun at Cades Cove. I didn't realize the loop was "just" 11 miles. It seems longer when you are driving it at a snails pace. That would be a fun run. Hope you see lots of wildlife and stay safe.

Yikes it's ghastly out today - torrential horizontal freezing cold rain. Got out there and did it though.

I did plot my route to ensure that when I tackled the exposed part of my route I'd get a stiff tailwind, however, when I headed out, I promptly turned right instead of left coming out the gate and had to battle a massive headwind in the second half of my run. I put it down to character building.

Hilariously, as it's Auckland, the sun came out halfway through and I couldn't see because of the sunstrike on the wet pavement!

@ContraryMaryMary That's kind of how one of the runs last week was - I got out to the trail thinking, "Oh it looks like it might rain," but then it turned into a torrential downpour and I was like "whoa."

I loved it though, after i was done. I did end up with blisters on my ankles from the backs of my shoes that are now healing, thankfully.

    Good job getting it done!

@Tramboman I have also become accustom to "normal" niggles. @Scott6255 yep, SLEEP. I am looking forward to running with minimal to no pain! I'm only 35! I don't know which shoes need replaced, if any. I've put in a LOT of miles this year (I'll have my 900 mile bib today) but I can't remember what month I got the Mizuno's. Also, I have been rotating shoes out. If any need replaced, it would be the Asics 2000s, but I don't think they're in that bad of shape yet. Plus, i don't really want to replace any. I'm up to five pairs of shoes, so it's kind of a collection, at this point.

Aravaipa is putting on this Insomniac series - the next run is called The Stunner. The deal is that you run at night and there are various distances you can do. I'm unsure about it. The event is July 13-19; my only issue is that I prefer to run in the mornings. Maybe if I just decide to be less competitive, I could sign up for it and just enjoy it like a regular person, haha. I tried to sign up for the Arkansas Traveler 100 mile race but it is cancelled for this year and registration opens in July - so I'll have that to look forward to. For 2021, I have the marathon in Nashville, the Full Moon 50K, and then the 100 miler (if I actually remember to register). This is, of course, pending the potential cancellation of all of them.

The good news is that in the meantime, I can rest and recover and strengthen. :)
