Yesterday's run was uneventful. Hot enough to warrant lots of walk breaks. Can summer be over already?
@rheddmobile Agreed that it's probably the fireworks. The air quality index is always *kitten* in Beijing around Chinese New Year for the same reason.4 -

7-2 7k slow
7-3 7k between slow and easy

Rest day today. Golf instead of running. Back is meh. Considering the feasibility of going back to two rest days a week (again) to try to rest these poor old legs.

Total 24km of 85km for July
Off to a good start this month! Sunday was glorious, sunny and warm, but breezy. As it was so nice, I thought I'd see if I could run 10K, and I did - faster than my virtual race time three weeks ago! I'm massively chuffed with that!
@katharmonic - that looks like a challenging hike / climb, but with beautiful scenery!
@Elise4270 - Ouch! That looks so painful. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Goals for the year:
1. Get back down to a decent running weight (currently set at 160lb)
2. Run a sub-60 minute 10K
3. Run a race this year, hopefully.
Current races planned:
14/06 Lincoln 10K - Postponed. Running for fun instead
17/10 Autumn Richmond Riverside Run (10K)
01/11 Lincoln 10K - new date. Here's hoping

I sat with my coffee a bit too long before gathering the energy to get out there. It's another hot day so my 8 am start was really pushing it, but I stayed on the shady trails. It was slow going and I walked up a steep part to get up to the campgrounds in the park near my house. I was kind of jealous of all the people just getting up out of their tents and campers and making breakfast. I'm not really a sleep outside kind of person but I love that sitting around the fire at night and in the morning. I looped through the campground and then was able to pick up the pace a little bit as I had downhill or flat all the way home. I ran into three friends just outside the trailhead who had apparently just been talking about me when I emerged from the woods and freaked them out by appearing They swear it was good things they were saying

Great job @hmaddpear! And thanks, it was definitely a huge challenge but worth it. I'm always so in awe of seeing those views, it takes away all the pain of getting up there!2 -
Foster dog had a meet and greet and then took him to a state park.
it was hot and we did run about 2 miles. and then walked ran a bit more (cuz i got lost)
it's a beautiful park. I've been there for canicross. i was following the trail markers, got turned around and didn't bother to look up at the sun for directions (facepalm).
at first, dog didn't want to go in the water. he drank a little but at the end, i pushed him into a down position and then i couldn't get him out.
it felt good to get out. it was hot so we took it easy. this was his first run. he'll be going to a new home next weekend and his owner runs a bit.9 -
I'm so far behind, so I'll just say that I hope everyone is doing well!
Did a virtual half this weekend. It was HUMID, so I got started early. Felt pretty good until about mile 11, but I was feeling the heat for the last two miles and for the rest of the day. Am fully recovered now. It's looking like another week of high humidity and temperatures here, but it was raining during my run this morning which felt pretty refreshing.

My schedule calls for 60 minutes today, however the weather is not inspiring - cold, gale force winds, rain! Oh, and it's the school holidays so I have children who are tired and whinging following a long weekend with their grandparents. I guess the latter makes the former way more enticing - I'll be heading out as soon as my husband gets home from work (unfortunately it's only 9:30 in the morning so he's a wee way off yet).6
-
Today was my last day off before returning to work. I went to the gym this morning, and then I spent part of the afternoon meal prepping for the rest of the week. 3 miles + rowing machine4

Got out for a walk today, 1st time since my procedure and got just under 2 miles. Had planned to try and get out for a little walk everyday this week but the walk made my shoulder and neck very sore along with the surgical site. So may just wait until I see the doctor on Friday and see what he advises. I am getting so antsy sitting at home though...12

Managed to get out finally, and while the wind and rain had stopped it got rather dark halfway in. I hate running in low light as my long-distance vision isn’t that great and the streets round here are a bit short on lights so that slowed me a little. Otherwise, it was a great run.6

Knee not up to running, hiked 3.8 miles and stationary bike 45 minutes. Aiming to keep my heart rate in the same zone as when running, and it’s not easy! Also, stationary bike is boring.

Sunny, low 70s F, and a little breeze from the south today. Started out free and easy, but the back popped just before I got to the 1k point. Hurt for awhile, but loosened up enough so the end wasn't bad. Saw a rabbit and heard my first cicada.

I ran 10K this morning. It was a pretty good run, but weird weather. I left the house about 35 minutes before the sun came up. It was starting to get light, but it was also cloudy and seemed kind of dark so I wore my noxgear vest. As I ran the clouds cleared and at first I could see the moon peaking out, and then the sky was a pretty blue with the pinks of the sunrise shining through. Then about 2 miles from home it clouded up again and fog rolled in so it was pretty gray at the finish of the run. It was also 73°F feels like 74°F with 100% humidity and the dew point was 73° so it felt like a struggle at times, but felt pretty good at times too.
ETA I forgot to mention that when I got home and was getting my house key out of my flipbelt I had two hummingbirds buzz past me on the way to the feeder. If you've never had a hummingbird fly close to you you would be surprised by how loud they are. I have been seeing this pair on my front porch a lot lately. They really seem to love my sage bush.
2020 races:
11/7/20: Run for 57th AHC Half Marathon8 -
7/1/20 – 5.02 miles
7/4/20 – 14.02 miles
7/6/20 – 5.15 miles
It was nice to be off for a 4-day weekend and the weather although hot was great. I filled the days with hiking (Natural Tunnel State Park), biking (43 miles on the Creeper Trail), running, painting a porch floor and a glider and other domestic chores. I’m taking a staycation day tomorrow and a couple of friends and I are heading to Cade’s Cove near the Gatlinburg TN area to run the 11-mile loop. The loop is closed to traffic on Wednesdays. This loop in the Smoky Mountain National Forest is known for spotting wildlife – deer, bear, etc. so usually it is quiet busy with cars, especially in the Fall.
I’m behind on responding to posts but I’ve read them all and responded with appropriate likes, hugs and inspiring!
