    July Goal: 100 Miles

    7/1: 6.51 miles
    7/2: 6.02 miles
    7/5: 10.10 miles
    7/7: 6.22 miles
    7/8: 6.05 miles

    34.9/100 miles completed for July

722.73/1000 miles for Run the Year Team Pavement Pounders

Another hot and humid 6 miles this morning. I am getting a bit tired of the humidity. But all in all it was a nice run. The first couple of miles felt like a bit of a struggle, but once I got into it I enjoyed the run. I saw a great blue heron this morning. It was pretty neat. I was crossing a bridge and I looked down just in time to see him fly from one side of the creek to the other. I didn't really see any other wildlife today. Just the typical birds and cats.

I was excited to get the RTY 1400 miles bib today. @Tramboman Looks like we are on track to get the 2020.

@Camaramandy648 Congratulations on your accomplishments with the 150 miles and your 3rd place. That's awesome. Yep. I recommend sleep, not that I have any experience with such distances.

I went to Body Pump last night, so no run. I’m not feeling great today, but I might try to get in a 30 min walk or so when the sun goes down a bit and it is slightly cooler.

I don’t know if any of you read The Oatmeal comic, but they put on a race every year in Washington called “Beat the Blerch,” which is a character from the comic about running. In the race, a giant “blerch” chases you, and they feed you cake on the course. I have always wanted to do it. This year they are doing it virtually, so I think I might sign up to do the half. It had a pretty fun looking goodie box.

My daughter and I ran the race in Washington a few years ago and it was really fun other than the trail had a lot of large river stones and was very tough on my knees. I got the email about the virtual and really want to run it 'with' her again. She would run in Seattle and I would run here in CA. Now I just have to convince her that she wants to do it too, easier said than done!

    Very cool!!!

@Tramboman Sorry your back is still cranky. Hope it gets better.

I was going to get up early to run this morning, but a friend asked me to play tennis. So, I got up early to play tennis instead. It was hot - no shade on the courts. We played for almost 2 hours and I burned nearly 500 calories. Not bad. It was fun. I like playing singles because you get more cardio covering the entire court.

    07/09/20 :::: 3.1 :::: 29.9

So hot out there. I went out at 7 and got it done, slowly and stiffly. It was lower 70s and humid and felt miserable. Now it's 90 feels like 98.

I need to get myself packed up for my trip to the mountains. See you all later.

@quilteryoyo Sounds like a nice change of pace for your workout (except for the no shade!). I think tennis looks really fun, I should probably look into learning how to play once it's safe to take lessons.

@Shortgirlrunning Congratulations on the PR! I agree with you, it can be harder to stay motivated in the summer.

@Shortgirlrunning Congratulations on the PR! Maybe that will help motivate you to keep going. I am not a morning person either, but I'm trying to get up early so it's not miserable when I run. I do have the option to use the treadmill though, so that's nice.

@janejellyroll You should totally try tennis. It's fun. Or, there's a new similar game that a lot of people love called Pickle Ball. I haven't played it, but friends have and say it's really fun, no matter the level of your play.

    40.98/100 miles completed for July

728.8/1000 miles for Run the Year Team Pavement Pounders

It was another hot and sweaty 6 miles for me this morning. It was already 80°F feels like 84°F when I got up this morning. But the humidity was "only" about 78% and there was some breeze today. On mornings like this I just have to remind myself that it will be much hotter later today when it is 100°F with heat indexes around 105° to 107°. It is 10:30 in the morning right now and the heat index is already 96°. It took me a couple of miles to get into it, but once I did it was a pretty good run. It was pretty uneventful, but other than the heat it was a nice looking morning.

@marisap2010 That looks like a fun race.

@ABabilonia If you are like most of us, your monthly goal is just an arbitrary number that you picked to run this month. Don't worry if you don't always (or ever) meet it. If you are putting in the effort to meet it then that is what is important. Besides, it's only the 9th day of the month. You've got plenty of time.

@Tramboman Sorry your back is still cranky. :(

@katharmonic I'm really jealous of your hiking in the Adirondacks. Have fun this weekend! And that workout sounds brutal. Did he let you see those dice, or did he just tell you what he rolled? :D

@Shortgirlrunning The heat is what forced me to become an early morning runner. Now I love it which is surprising because I have never been a morning person. And congratulations on your 5K PR!

    Thanks all, for the congrats!

    @Teresa502 you saw a bear?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

My sister just texted to show me groundhogs in her garden and said they carry rabies.

I sent her a video of the groundhogs I see on my runs and they never bite me so I think I'm fine.

    Her garden is pretty.

    Sisters are weird.

The roll the dice workout sounds BRUTAL.

A couple of friends took me to play my first game of mini golf last night. First game - IN MY LIFE. It was nice to be moving around and I definitely did not win. They want to go run together Saturday. i told them I am happy to run/walk but my body is suffering from DOMS for sure. the IT band was screaming yesterday in the right leg. Much better today, but I plan to take it easy for at least a week. I think the binge helped me to get some things out of my system and now I don't feel like I have pressure to achieve so much.

Until next week, that is. Because I must be a psychopath and signed up for the Stunner run put on by aravaipa running. It's just July 13-18, so only a few days and I plan to put much less pressure on myself this time. I think it will be a good time. :)

I am really proud of you all for getting out there and braving the elements! Keep going!

Also @Tramboman - agree about loaded dice and i Hope your back feels better!

@bearly63 Oh my gosh, that's some heat you've got coming up. :s

@Teresa502 I think after I saw the first bear that would be the end of my run.

@Teresa502 We must have posted at the same time earlier because I missed the bears. That run looks very pretty, but I don't know about bears. I think that would be equal parts exciting and terrifying.
