Flea: We just got our dog back from the Veterinarian’s for cancer surgery. They got it all and Schooner’s doing well so far.
I’m grumpy. My son asked me to send him an Oregon Voter’s guide and I couldn’t get one from the County Courthouse. They claim the information is online. I’m NOT happy with this situation. We don’t have a voter’s pamphlet, either. :grumble:

Happy Monday!
Now, not only does my sister have gout, but she's dealing with thrush in her mouth. I feel so sad for her, but most of her ailments have been self inflicted. She told me in a text that she needs to stop the drinking and smoking. I said, "my wants for you don't matter as long as you prioritize drinking and smoking to come first. I would love for you to be around longer". She completely ignored that and changed subjects. Its typical of her, to deflect attention when subjects get too serious. I am kind of her voice of reason, saying what I mean, and meaning what I say. No one else in her life is that upfront with her. I get on her case when she whines she has no money, but then goes out to eat. Her favorite bar has food. She was so proud to show it to me when I visited June 2019. She said its like so homey! The fact that she doesn't go upstairs for all her meals, (because then her daughter's would get on her for drinking) is just plain sad. Its a split level 4 bedroom home, and she is holed up in the basement rec room, with no real bathing facilities. Ok ok enough rambling on about my sis.
For exercise I might pick up the property. Its a weekly thing, picking up dead branches, rake pine cones. 👍💪👵🎶🎵

Rebecca thought of you at Grocery Outlet today. They had two flavors of mochi that I couldn't resist: Gingerbread and Salted Caramel. Indulged in a gingerbread tonight. Yum!
We love Grocery Outlet!! When we do road trips, we see how many we can find and check out. There are A LOT between home and Lake Stevens,WA.
Our son works at the one in Napa- I will have him check about the mochi-see what flavors they have(or what he can order). Mango is my favorite but would love to try the caramel.

your sister sounds a lot like mine- fighting gout right now, drinks too much, complains about not having money but goes out to eat/drink way too much. She lives in a 5th wheel trailer by herself(son's don't really have much to do with her- one lives in FL, one in Seattle but even when they were here, didn't talk to her much.

We don't have a grocery outlet in Whidbey Island, but we do have an Asian market with a lot of my favorites! I'm a cooler is mochi, with beans, jelly type stuff inside. I had some during the summer that were berry, orange and the bean flavor. So sweet and refreshing cold with the dusting of powdered sugar.
I also love the asparagus biscuits. Just a thin looks like asparagus, biscuit. Yummy!
Of course I also like the muchi cakes like "jiggley cake". They have the individual serving ones.👍

Gout is a royalty disease, too much of the rich food and drink. My sister is only 4 years older than me, (62), so she is heading down a precarious path.
"If you don't make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness".💖
I have learned that though I care about her a lot, I have to keep my distance for my own sanity. I just have learned the hard way that putting too much emotions into a person unwilling to change is like trying to hold water in a colander.😢
There has to be a low for them to wish change. Until then, we get front row seats to whenever that happens. Hugs!

I have 300 calories to go and an hour left in my window. This is going well, even though I have activities at the close of my window three days a week. I will adapt.

Barbie & Katla & Flea: I agree with all of you that Allie needs to keep working and just try to put up with Jean. I just get upset when she tells us when people take advantage of her goodness.

Katla--So happy all went well and your furbaby is home.
Kim--Your movie night sounds like so much fun.
Suzi--So glad you can get the laptop. Something you can use and not just put in a drawer.
Karen--It is a start and who knows with everything she is having a change of heart. Very Happy for you.
Well I am caught up. Had a nice weekend and got a lot of pictures taken for the directory and still will do acoupld more days. Just kind of in a fog. Counting the days until vacation, working 65+ hours this week and next to cover and will work over night this Saturday night. That should be interesting as havin't done one in years.

Blood test results just came in and every test was average or better with really good results in the tumor marker test. Electrolytes were not just in the good range but perfect to the desired number. Three pages of results. Vitamins were great and for the first time no lows or highs. Estrogen level amazing for my age. Feeling so damn sassy I tackled a three-hour job cleaning my household products, maintenance repair parts, etc., closet. I forgot all the hooks, screws, and you name it I had jammed in there and forgot about.

Did an extreme strength DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do Katina Hunter’s Interval Party DVD
M – How I wish NC would go to only DST!!! I would like to live in a warm place (like Arizona or even FL) for the winter and NC for the summer. But I know that’s not going to happen. It would be ideal, tho
Karen VA – I’m so happy for you that Jeanette contacted you!!!! Beautiful violet
Exercised then went bowling. Mahjongg tonight.
Work tomorrow, Wed and Thurs.

We have many Asian markets here and a few that are further away but MIL likes to go to. My newest find at one we just discovered is those "shrimp chips" that you fry yourself- they look like hard plastic but when you put them in hot oil, they puff right up. Also something like Shake N Bake- called Crispy Fry made my Ajinomoto. I love just taking my time and finding new things to try.

my sister is 16 months younger than I am(she just turned 57). She has always drank to much and ate the rich food but had gastric bypass a few years ago- She was 350lbs at 5', went down to 180 in less than 6 months- really aged her, now she looks a lot older than me. She still likes the fancy stuff but can't eat like she used to.
I only hear from her and my older sister when they want something. We are all so different. They spend more than they earn and I save most of what I earn, then I hear from then that I am LUCKY that I own my house-no luck involved at all. I put up with a whole lot of SH** in order to have what I do.
She has slowed her drinking some after a DUI(she told me about it but my parents don't know)but still drinks more than she should.

Hi all. Only now finding time to hang with y'all. Deeply embroiled in sorting through my bonanza of art materials from my generous friend. I have sorted most of it out and feel very lucky that she was downsizing her stash.
Karen: The African violets are stunning. They must have melted your old friends frost a little.
Machka: I always liked that about the time change. It just delayed the onset of deep winter a little when they temporarily restore the light evenings. Now, it doesn't matter so much as we just adjust our activities to available daylight.
Fate: You crack me up with your humourous posts, especially your liner revelation. My life would be very uncomfortable without mine. I changed my name in my late teens. Hardly anyone even knows my given name, even though it's still on all my documents.
Heather: DH and I both got texts from our GP this morning. He has set up a drive-thru flu jab clinic. We are scheduled for Friday 10am. Our original GP retired 4 years ago, and the new doc is very modern and forward thinking. This may be the way of the future. I hope it's a dry day.
Re: Watches: I have several lovely watches, but haven't worn them since I bought fancy leather straps for my Fitbit and started wearing it 24/7. I could wear both, but it looks a bit odd.
We are getting heavy rain courtesy of Storm Alex. Scale is still dropping, and am now back to where I was before DH's birthday on 12th Sept. Hoping it will continue to decrease. 🤞🏻
Pax vobiscum 🕊

Got a 30 day Peloton spin class free trial, see how that goes. Kirby lost his phone and noticed it when we got home. I have a find my find my phone tracker and we went back and found the phone!
I weighed myself on the 3rd to see how much I gained. I can tell whe I gain a few pounds, I weighed 141.6 pounds. My traditional goal weight was 135 but I seemed to be hanging on 132. I usually loose 2 pounds of water after a workout so I just add 2 lbs to what it shows. I weighed myself right now and it shows 133.8lbs, so I should b at 135. I wanted to see how fast I would loose the weight and I guess it’s gonna b pretty quick4 -
My heart is light today.

I just had a tough time recording exercise and food. I wonder whether it was a system error or whether MFP is playing games with me. Rode my stationary bike for thirty minutes and worked up a sweat. In the end I got my food and calorie burn counted.2

Fae, on spelling of names. Mine has always been Kay but I remember going through a period of thinking it would be so much cooler to be Kaye. In recent years, I met a woman who has become a dear friend who spells her name Kae. She is the only person I know who spells our name that way.
Karen, I remember your grief at the loss of your friendship. It makes me happy that she is reaching out with the same memories if the African Violet and your mother that you have.
We are in the midst of painters as well. They have finished the exterior and are working to repair our garage and make it beautiful. No more textured ceiling to flake off with the moisture! It will be so fresh and clean and organized when it is finished.

Dr. Katie: I love your color choices for the exterior of your home. It looks welcoming.
Rebecca: You often say things that are spot on. I love this one: “If you don’t make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness.” Brilliant! Thank you for sharing. DH said that you’ve got it straight. I agree.
Vicki: Thank you for your kind words for Schooner. He is doing amazingly well and we are delighted. Luckily, we have an excellent veterinarian.
Pip: The find my phone tracker is a life saver and helps reduce stress. I really dislike being anxious and when I can’t find something the anxious meter starts to climb. Find my phone helps.
Karen: I am so happy your heart is light today. I hope that tomorrow will be even better.

Allie - not all people are caters as you are. I think you need to forgive Jean for not treating Faith and anyone else the way you would treat them and just understand it’s not who she is. As long as you expect her to change and be what you think she should be you’ll forever be disappointed.
Watches - I have several watches but seem to have allergy problems with most of them. I can’t even wear a Fitbit without breaking out. I use my phone and pretty much everywhere I look I can find the time regularly.
Flea - I too roll my eyes frequently at work. I also, sigh and curse under my breath. It’s a job though and I am thankful for it. Hope your dog gets his meds soon and that you continue with no Covid on your campus.
Rebecca - I am sorry you have to endure your sister suffering. Alcohol and drug abuse are terrible diseases.
Vicki- I don’t know if I could handle an overnight shift now or not, I used to quite enjoy them.
We had a PPE exercise today and had to gear up in full isolation gear to see if we followed the proper steps or not. I passed, which was pretty good since I’ve had no training in it. It is in preparation in case we get a Covid case.
I sold another piece of my scrapbooking supplies tonight. This one I had used some money given to me when my Grandmother passed away to purchase. I feel a bit guilty but I have many things from my Grandmother that means much more to me than that. I think I’ll buy myself a couple new shirts and pants with the money.
My youngest daughter that bought the house this summer texted me last night to tell me I’ll be getting a grand puppy in a few weeks. I can’t wait to hear what name they come up with. I gave her a couple of ideas. Her best friend and her best friend’s Mother will have two of the siblings.
She also texted me this morning after an interview and told me she was offered the job on the spot. She will be busy.
This afternoon she took family photos of my other daughter, son in law and Grands. I’m anxiously awaiting a sneak peek.
