In case you haven't noticed, on days that I don't run this month, I am trying to get in at least 10,000 steps. The wind is gusting pretty hard today, so it really isn't safe to run or walk under the trees on my driveway or in the neighbor's field. I opted for a fairly fast paced walk on the treadmill - 3 miles at 3.8 mph. I must tell you, walking on a treadmill for that long is worse than running on one. Not sure why. I was just so bored and wanted to quit. Next time I may opt for reading instead of watching an episode of Chopped. Still need over a thousand steps to make my goal. I think normal activities the rest of the day will get me there.6 -

It was slow, but my longest run this year (29k) and I'm not even sure why I'm going so long when I'm not training for anything. I did mostly enjoy it, though... and I've been in a deficit trying to lose a couple of pesky kg and now I can have fish & chips today and still stay on track.

@quilteryoyo Wow, you are going to be in great shape when that surgery finally comes around. You are so strong, your recovery will be much easier!8
-
Thanks @Scott6255 ! That's what I am hoping.0

@Camaramandy648 can I have some of whatever you're on today? You're bouncing!
(I, on the other hand, feel like I have been hit by a truck - went to the osteo and got my kinks unravelled and now am super sleepy.)8 -

I got out for 6 miles this morning. It was pretty chilly at 39°F. But there was no wind and the sky was clear and there were tons of stars so it wasn't too bad. It was actually a really good run. I finished with an overall pace of 10:07 which is pretty fast for me especially considering that I wasn't trying to go fast. I even ran mile 5 at 9:55.
I ran my leg of the Ekiden, but so far on the results page it still shows my leg as not completed. It also shows the 4th leg not complete. I think that was @polskagirl01. Is anyone else having issues?)
2020 races:
11/7/20: Run for 57th AHC Half Marathon6 -
New guy here.... 58 year old novice (VERY) novice runner.... I'm shooting for 25 miles this month. I'm sitting at 6.25 right now.11
-
@kgirlhart all of us are showing completed in the Runkeeper app, but yours is the only one that hasn't shown up in the results page on the website. Probably just slow updating. I'm sure it will show up in a day or two.2
-
Thanks @Scott6255. Maybe it will show up tomorrow.0

At the risk of being cheeky, I know at least one person has their PastorVincent medal. Has anyone else received theirs? I know covid + international means it could take months. I just start getting nervous...0
-
Went for a 20min run this morning, it was wonderful. I just missed a huge downpour! I seem to have have great timing.
My calf was a bit tight after, but by the end of the day I had no issues so I think the scar tissue continues to be there but less noticeable.
I see the physio again on Friday, so 2 days time. I'm planning on getting into HM training after that. Woop woop!6 -

ETA yet RaceRoster hasn't managed to discover and clean out the guy with the ridiculous world record smashing results at the very top of their leaderboard. If people are gonna hop on a bike and cheat, at least do believeable times LOL4 -
-
Had body pump last night, and hoping to get in a run tonight. Depending on how late I get home, it may be a treadmill run at the gym.3
-
I'm starting to really like this long/slow bike ride the day after a long run. My legs feel so good!
Also the view at the reservoir:
I've avoided this route lately, due to the mask and more people around. There were plenty of people out, but the mask was OK as long as I was moving. As soon as I stopped, my glasses fogged up and I couldn't see where I was going6 -
@ContraryMaryMary I hope you are feeling better today.
@kgirlhart Super run. I love it when I'm not even trying and wind up with a faster pace than expected.
Welcome @62Rich !
@Avidkeo I've been wondering the same thing about the medals. It hasn't made it to E. TN yet. And I've only heard of the one that received theirs too. I'm glad your calf is better!
@polskagirl01 That's such a pretty place for a bike ride!
I have very vivid dreams. Last night I dreamed that I was running a marathon, which was part of a triathlon. The other two legs were swimming and a chariot race, with horses and chariots. My goal was to finish the marathon in time to watch the chariot race. I had to stop to potty twice during the first mile - which took me more than 17 minutes and they were only counting moving time. Then, my dog had been running around and gotten covered in cockleburs and other sticky seeds. I had to spend some time getting the worst ones off so they wouldn't hurt her. When I started to go back to run again, I couldn't find my shoes and they had decided my timer wasn't working properly, so were going to change that. I looked and looked for my shoes and never did find them before I woke up.
Does anyone else have weird dreams about running?6 -
Welcome @62Rich! We have many of us here who started running in our 40s and 50s (including myself), we had a discussion about that recently. Are you using any kind of program like Couch to 5k to get started?
Excellent run @kgirlhart. I love when it seems easier/faster than usual for no real reason.
@polskagirl01 that trail reminds me so much of one we have here that is very popular for running and biking. We run it every other week at least. I would love to bike it because it is so nice but I don't have a bike and I fear trying to balance one more thing in the mix. When I'm done with this run streak for the year though I want to consider biking or some other activity on off days.
@quilteryoyo lol at your dream. I have vivid dreams like that too and it's funny how the stupidest details get in there. I can't remember any in particular but I know I wake up thinking why do I worry about stuff like that in a DREAM RACE. I love that there was a chariot race in your triathlon. That's something we don't see too much
We have snow on the ground this morning and it's supposed to be the coldest day so far. I'm planning to go to run group tonight but dreading it a little. Mostly because strength training on Monday + mace class last night = every muscle hurts. You know you are in for it when the trainer is talking up to the whole class how fun a workout is then as an aside whispers to you yeah this one's hard and laughs.5 -

Sunny, low 30s F, and just a little breeze. Enough snow on the ground to see some deer tracks, and the wooden footbridges were snow and ice covered. Running trail was fine. New shoes were fine as well.
@quilteryoyo I have wacky dreams all the time, but none have involved running (yet).
Good to have you with us, @62Rich. We all started somewhere.

Coldest morning so far this Fall (27F) but I was dressed ok for it and didn't get cold at all once I got out of the warm car and started moving.
@quilteryoyo – I don’t think I have ever dreamed about running. Definitely not a chariot race! Did you watch Chariots of Fire recently? 😊 My recurring dream theme always involves the cleanliness (or lack thereof) of bathrooms. I don’t know what that says about me but I do like a clean restroom!
Loving all your pictures @polskagirl01!
@Avidkeo – No medal for me either. @Camaramandy648 – have you received any shipping updates?
Welcome to the group @62Rich!
1 -
Hahaha @Teresa502 . I have no idea why I would have dreamed about a chariot race. I saw Chariots of Fire in 1982, I think. Not since then. No Roman movies or anything. Funny that you dream about bathroom cleanliness. In my dreams, I seem to always be losing things...hats, shoes, clothes, my way to someplace familiar, etc. I'm sure there is some deep psychological thing there somewhere.2

Wow I earned my 7th Anniversary badge with MFP. I didn’t know they did that, kinda cool.
Few days behind, I'll try and catch up.
I had my yearly physical yesterday and happy all my blood work was good, she told me I lost 25 lbs since last year, which is good since I gained a bunch of weight before that. Slowly going in the right direction.
One of our local race directors decided to hold a high school “nationals” here since the “real” one was cancelled. There are over 900 runners entered from all over the country including quite a few of the top seeds in the country for the boys. I’m taking off Friday from work and have volunteered to do packet pickup all day Friday and Saturday morning, sell shirts and anything else he can find for me to do. Skip is coming home tomorrow for this so she’ll be helping out too. Excited for it.
Been chilly the last few days in the morning, today was 32F, had to get out my capris, so sad.
@camaramandy648 our schools go virtual with one in a district doing it and not another – depends on what is going on at the school. I haven’t seen my brother since 2018 and then only because Skip had a meet near him. I used to go to Florida all the time, but that was to see my Mom (he lived with her), after she died and I sold the house (he moved somewhere smaller) I have no reason to go. I work, he doesn’t, so he has all the time in the world to come here, he chooses not to.
@brittanystebbins95 the leash is something to look into.
Ha ha @HonuNui you are so right
@marisap2010 Garmin is rude.
@rheddmobile yipes not a good day for him at all
@mbaker566 glad you tests negative. Bob is a hoot!!
@polskagirl01 ah looked at your pictures, I hope you are wearing orange, isn’t that a deer tree stand?

ha ha. I still need to lose the other 30 I found2 -
All!
Shipping Update:
The medals go out in the mail TOMORROW, 11/19/2020.
WHOOP WHOOP!
@Contrary_MaryM hahahahah I wish there was something to be on that would be longterm and safe, rotfl.
So yesterday. Run am, run pm (hill repeats), then lift.
I was beat, but I finished all of it.
Longer run this morning. Kinda slow because super freaking tired legs. But today is only 1 run, which means dinner with my non-crew (hahahaha) tonight and kids. Maybe a movie. Running once feels like a rest day.
But yes. The medals. They go out TOMORROW! Just a little bit longer now!8 -
@skippygirlsmom Yeah for the good bloodwork results AND losing 25 pounds. That's fantastic!
Thanks for the update @Camaramandy648 !1 -

Yup - should have been a sign I was stressing about my last race, I kept having dreams about it. In one I got to the start line to notice I was wearing my gardening shoes not my running shoes! Chariot racing sounds like a way better dream!5
