I was originally signed up for a half marathon tomorrow that got canceled, so I wore the buff and ran the distance today instead. I've been feeling quite down the past few days, so actually getting off the couch, running and not yelling at anyone so far today, is quite an accomplishment But don't worry, I'll be back to my normal happy self soon. Lots of stress. It will pass.
Big generalization here, but a lot of cyclists come across as a bit snobbish. BUT today, when a cyclist saw me twice, running in two locations that are quite far from one another, I'm guessing he realized I must be some special kind of crazy, and he gave me a smile AND a wave.
November Goal - 100 Miles
I often run down a shared path alongside the motorway so, on a Sunday morning particularly, it has loads of cyclists. I have discovered that a single cyclist is friendly, a pair might be depending if they're chatting or not, but a group of cyclists is frankly quite rude. Also, it seems, the faster you're running, the friendlier they are!4 -
Ha. I discovered something interesting about the Ekiden - I signed up for two 5km slots, figuring I'd cover that easily in my run today. And I did, I ran 15km, however, as it was one run, it goes against just one of those 5km slots - perhaps I should have stopped and restarted my watch halfway. Oh well, fortunately I'm running again tomorrow!9

Welcome to the new people!! And welcome back @angmarie28! Good to see you again.
@polskagirl01 good job on running the half on your own! Sorry for the stress and hope that run helped - it definitely is a great accomplishment.

An almost exact repeat of yesterday running wise - same time/same distance on the treadmill. I was busy all day, got home and only had time to change clothes and head to the gym for the short run and then mace class. This was the first mace class since back in March or before that, so it was definitely a challenge. My arms and pecs were already sore from last night's workout so I may not be able to move them tomorrow. It's too bad I didn't have time for a good run because the weather was once again amazing. Tomorrow it's going to rain and get colder.
I may put off my Ekiden 10k race leg until Friday or Saturday. Hopefully Friday if I can make the time so I'll have a little recovery before my 5k race on Sunday. I see @ContraryMaryMary has completed leg 1 for our MFP #3 team - actually just saw your post. Sorry about the longer run not counting for both legs. Great job on your run though!5 -

Done my leg of the Ekiden, I was tired and my legs were sore and I didn't have any more fast in me, but I completed it.
Also put me past the 1800 mark for the Run The Year (I'm counting walking etc too towards that, not just running) so it looks like I will manage to finish it before the end of the year, yay!
My Dad had some of his stitches out yesterday but not all, not sure why. He starts radiotherapy on the 19th, we STILL don't know what the rests of the tests on the tumour are and whether he'll have to have chemo too. All this waiting is killing me.
Sorry I'm not chatting, I am skim-reading and liking and hugging, no emotional energy for anything more than that.9 -
@eleanorhawkins I got a notification that you've passed the baton! I'm up and have had coffee(!), but am waiting for hubby & kids to wake up so we can drive to a flatter forest, where they can bike and I can do my run mask-free. The coffee is working, and I got inspired thinking about Yuki, so I made myself a lil' medal. What a nerd I am.
This is the guy who said something like "To me, not running is the same as death." I feel like there should be a vest/tank with that quote and his race face LOL. But maybe no one would get it.9 -
@polskagirl01 I love you!

Yesterday was my body pump class, so no run. I’ll probably have to run at the gym tonight because it is going to rain all day.
Woohoo for all of you running the Ekiden!5 -

Aww, I love you too! I gave up on the sleeping family and ended up driving to the forest by myself. Nice, flat out & back (x2) and I did my best to "race" it without the actual race. Kept it under 29 minutes for the 5k, which is close enough for me.7 -
Way to get it done @eleanorhawkins!! You did great, and already nearing the Run the Year goal! That's fantastic!!!
WooHoo @polskagirl01! Great job on your 5K leg! Sub 30 is awesome! Our team is killing it!!!!
Did my leg of the Ekiden 10K virtual race this morning. Was a little colder than I usually like, so had to wear gloves. And that's what cost me a sub 50 minute 10K (clocked in at 50:01) . Futzing with getting my water bottle in and out of my belt cost me precious seconds at the beginning of each mile. Even though Garmin tells me it was a 10K PR, it means that sub 50 10K is still out there for me to get 😁9 -
11/3 – 5.03 miles
11/4 – 4.08 miles
11/5 – 4.06 miles
11/7 – 6.25 miles
11/8 – 4.60 miles
11/9 – 5.07 miles
11/11 – 6.22 miles
35.31 of 120 miles
I woke up to the sound of rain but it stopped for my run and I was able to complete my 10K leg of the Ekiden challenge for MFP#3 team. It was a nice 63F but with 99% humidity. Even with stopping waiting for traffic to pass before crossing a few streets, I still beat my time from my 10K race on Sunday. No huge hills today! Per Garmin, today’s run had 136 feet of elevation gain compared to the 526 feet elevation gain from the race.
@eleanorhawkins – Sorry your dad still doesn’t have all the results yet. I hope the radiotherapy goes well and takes care of everything.
@Scott6255 – A 50:01 minute 10k is AWESOME!!! I don’t usually run with my phone but to use Runkeeper I had to and since it had been raining, I had to get it in and out of a baggie costing me precious time too! Yeah….that’s what kept me from getting a sub 50 minute 10k. Lol!

@ContraryMaryMary Great run. Stinks that you couldn't count it as both legs of the Ekiden.
@eleanorhawkins Big hugs to you. Waiting is so hard! I am surprised it is taking so long to get the test results back. I hope he does well with the treatments. Have you been able to talk to him?
@polskagirl01 Nice 5K time.
@Scott6255 Awesome 10K time! Sorry you didn't make your goal, but you were oh so close. Next time you'll kill it!
Nice run for you too @Teresa502 ! You are all doing great.

I forgot to say Happy Veterans Day to our U.S. members who have served in our armed forces! Thank you and your family for your sacrifices for our country!5

Great job @Scott6255 ! So close to your goal, though. You're definitely capable of sub-50. Next time!
Also congratulations to the others who have completed their legs of the race - @ContraryMaryMary @Teresa502 and anyone I missed.3 -

Posting 2 runs since I didn't get around to it last night. I ran after work and finished my leg of the Ekiden race. Pretty good pace too since it was a speed work day! It was actually pretty warm yesterday and I had to run after work. Super sweaty run! The sun was starting to set on my way out so it was very dark by the time I finished. Gotta remember that daylight savings time.
When I logged my run for Ekiden I realized there was still an unclaimed spot for team #2, so I signed up for it to finish out. I wish I had realized it beforehand because my run today would have been enough for the first leg and my run last night would have been enough for the last leg. Oh, well. My run tomorrow or this Saturday will be plenty.
The run this morning was kind of hard. Speed work followed by another run 13 hrs later. Kept it nice and easy, which was on the plan. Did a good stretch and we'll see how much my legs have left tomorrow.4 -
Good job to everyone getting their Ekiden legs in!!2
-
@quilteryoyo et al. thanks :-) I spoke to him a few days ago, he sounded pretty shell-shocked and tired but generally not too bad.4
-
@eleanorhawkins I'll be doing my leg tomorrow...3
-
@eleanorhawkins Glad you got to talk to your dad and he's doing good - sounds like as well as can be expected from all he has been through. Big hugs to you both.2
