8.5 mile run along the beach. Not a fan of sand or running on it 😁, but it's good training and makes you focus on running form.

The new Garmin Forerunner 245 arrived a day early so I was able to use it this morning! Worked like a champ. Will take some getting used to since it uses only buttons for navigation. I keep trying to swipe at the screen to navigate!
Today it was 32 F outside with a heavy wet snowfall. The roads, walkways and paved trails were all clear but everything else was covered with white stuff. Since everything has been in bloom it made for a really beautiful sight of white against other color contrasts compared to snow when everything is just dingy brown. On the downside all of that bloomage is now covered in snow. All of the snow is predicted to melt as it warms up to around 40 today.
Happy belated birthday @pfeiferlindsey and congrats on the 3.5! I have to admit I'm still confused why @kgirlhart ran 5.3 at only 35 years of age.

@penguimama I am not sure what your weather is like today, but I ran in the snow today!
Actually, I enjoyed it, it was a sight to behold as it was a wet snow and with everything in bloom it makes for a very unique view of white and green everywhere.
@sweetdaisy13 I had a nice giggle about you running from the car place and back to have it serviced. Very cool.
That sucks to hear that the work you put into that game did not wind up going live @rheddmobile but how interesting that you wound up getting to know that church only to see it again here!
@katharmonic I too have been known to sneak out to run during a conference call. I always found I was able to keep up with the topics as long as it was an easy run, but like @shanaber said if you get called upon and have to speak it can be a little awkward (but keeping it an easy run helps).
@shanaber - I am glad to hear nothing happened on your close call. I've almost been hit a couple times, as have many people here (I would imagine). Sadly, as you mentioned, a lot of people do get hit and are even killed. I must admit I give cyclists and runners very wide berth compared to my life prior to running. I've even had some cars behind me get a little agitated when trailing behind on an uphill simply due to lack of visibility and not wanting to crowd the cyclist over onto the shoulder. I actually enjoy agitating those people though and wish they would think a little bit more about why I am slowing them down.
@Scott6255 - I never considered the benefit of a treadmill being for anything other than bad weather. You just opened my eyes a little to the other side of that coin.
@Tramboman - I totally understand on the weird looks and strange outfits when running. Because it was 32 and a wet snow falling today, I ran with some UA Storm tights (in Tidy Whitey that very much resemble long underwear), with shorts over those (to avoid looking like a guy running around in long underwear), and a shortsleeved shirt because it was just too warm and humid for long sleeves in my opinion, and of course gloves on the hands and a winter cap up top. Obviously I looked like I had just escaped the looney bin. But I was comfy the whole way. If anything I felt overdressed when I was finished and walked back inside a warm house.

@shanaber so many close calls in intersections. It's so scary how drivers just are not looking for people. So glad you escaped without harm and I'm sure your HR took a bit to recover.

A short trail run with Stella tonight. I really didn't want to run and I didn't want to run with the dog, but I needed to multitask once again (so happy I'm not the only one to take work calls while running or walking, lol). As mentioned above tomorrow it's supposed to snow so I thought I might want to take a day off then instead of today. We'll see how it turns out.
Friday I leave for Florida for a few days so I will hopefully have a completely different set of weather complaints then! Who above was saying they hate running on the beach? I'm looking forward to it but I'll probably say the same immediately. I don't plan to do a ton of running though. The goals are to relax and catch up with my mom who I haven't seen for well over a year. But 4 solid days with mom is going to still require a little escape here and there

@WhatMeRunning Thanks. Glad you only had to run "naked" once and that you like your new Garmin. Nice run and it is so pretty when flowers are peaking through spring snows.
Thanks for the well wishes for Tippy. Of course, it's only been one day, but I can tell she's a little more feisty today. I think the meds are going to help her.

Wasn't sure how today's run was going to go. Really not in the mood, but the weather was great - 68°F, sunny, breezy. The only bad part was the headwind both ways that was gusty at times. I tried to run by HR, but wasn't quite as successful as I would have liked. It's so hard when I'm outside and running on hills. The average HR was a little higher than it should have been, but not too bad. And, I pushed the Fast 5 minutes a little too hard because I had to stop and walk a bit before I could finish it. I guess 2 - 3 min/mile faster than my easy pace is NOT moderate intensity. LOL
Edited to add this picture. Saw this when running today. I think it is a coyote. I don't wear my glasses when running, so things far away are fuzzy. I took a picture, hoping I could tell for sure what it was, but the picture was just as unclear as my eyes were. LOL

@quilteryoyo - It's not a clear picture but my money would be coyote by the shape, proportions, colors, particularly towards the hind end where any tail must be pointing straight down.1

I had a nice 4 mile run this morning. It was kind of chilly but there were lots if stars and it was pretty nice. We have freeze warning in effect from 3:00 am to 9:00 am. I'm not sure it will actually freeze,, and I know I have run in colder weather, but I'm still not really looking forward to 35°F at 5:00 am. But I have a conference call at 12:30 tomorrow so lunch is out. I'll probably end up enjoying the run, but it is so hard to get out the door when it is cold and dark.

I'm not completely sure. I had strained that spot a few years ago (and wasn't able to run for a month that time!) and it does "niggle" from time to time. This time, it just got progressively worse and doesn't seem to be going away. I think I can trace it back to a snowy run (2 months ago?) in the forest with nordic poles when I twisted wrong going up a steep hill and my back hurt afterwards - even for walking - and then because this is a weak spot and something was off in my hips/back, the quad decided to join in as well. I have an appointment on Tuesday with a physio. I've done all sorts of stretches and exercises and rolling and TENS and rest... I'll feel better, go run and it's right back. Very frustrating.@polskagirl01 – Did you strain your quad on a trail run? I think I missed how you got injured. Regardless, I hope it’s better soon.
Looking at the weather, I may be able to ride my bike today, maybe can go walk the trails (I think I can run/walk at my son's pace without hurting myself). We'll see.

@kgirlhart I hope you enjoyed your run this morning. It's supposed to freeze here tonight and tomorrow night. I'm really not looking forward to it either. It's raining and in the 40°F's here today - and supposed to be getting colder all day. Thank goodness I don't mind the treadmill. LOL
@polskagirl01 I really hope the physio can give you some answers and help you out. It sounds very frustrating.

I think it's unanimous - it was a coyote. I was a little worried about it being out in the middle of the day, but I just Googled it and "they" say it isn't unusual, as they will hunt whenever the opportunity presents itself.2 -

Today's run was a stamina effort run at the top end of aerobic range (roughly 80% - 85% HRMax or Karvonnen Z3 which for me is between 140 and 150 bpm). Thank goodness the watch arrived because I could not help but notice while running it that there was no way I could tell by feel when to pick up or slow down! Everything was just slightly uncomfortable!
Sorry to hear about everyone to the north and east getting this cold, wintry stuff. You might want to enjoy it while you can though. Today it was just cold here, we dipped below freezing last night and expected to do the same tonight. After that it looks like Summer might strike and the real heat training will begin!5 -

It was in the 40's this morning!! I actually got to wear leggings in April!
We are too far south for the freeze warnings and snow others are getting but we got some of the most perfect days of weather we've had in a long time. I'm actually taking advantage of it and working outside by my fire pit.
The warm-up is definitely starting tomorrow, so I fully expect my pace to suddenly drop by a solid 30 to 45 seconds a mile. Right now, I'm just trying to be grateful for the unseasonably cool break that I'm getting.2 -
I did both. Wanted to turn and make the bike ride longer, but restrained myself and stuck with a reasonable 9 km. Then did the trail with my son later - mostly walking, but he had an interval timer in his earphones telling him to walk 5 minutes and run 1 minute, so he'd announce when it was time to run. He might've missed a couple run intervals LOL. I ran more than he did, though not much. My quad just feels niggly now - basically "ok that's fine but try running again and you'll be sorry". I've mentioned the well-trained dogs I see in the forest... today we came up on a man with an off-leash dog out ahead of him that looked like a huge fox from behind, but when it turned around, it had a very "mean-looking" gray (brindle?) face. I have no idea on the breed but on one hand, he looked big and scary, but to me he also seemed friendly. Thing is, my kid is afraid of dogs and was getting worked up over having to pass them. The owner noticed and gave a command, and the dog literally dropped his toy ball to lay down right in his tracks, and STAYED there looking up at us as we passed and his ball rolled away from him down the trail. I'm sure he got it back, but that took some obedience training for sure.

@polskagirl01 Great job on both riding and running with your son. Hope the quad starts behaving better. That is a very well trained dog. Tippy would NOT do that and I think she is pretty well behaved.
