KJ - Is your DH ok? That seems very odd behaviour. Either very forgetful, or passive aggressive. I know you were worried about depression a while ago.

Writing about my old inspiring English teacher in my memoir. I thought she had died, but when I googled her she was alive and photographed in 2018. She was married to the mountaineer Tom Bourdillon, who very nearly was the man who first conquered Everest. He died in 1956. I made contact again with her in 1999 and we both appeared on a radio show. After 2008 I lost touch as her sight was failing. I have written to the organisation that photographed her, hoping they know if she is still alive. She wrote a book in 1956, Visit to the Sherpas, and gave me a copy when we met again. She was hugely influential for me. She would be 92 now.

Looking forward to seeing the grandchildren.

Would love to walk with you on that beautiful forest path! Loved playing in the woods when I was a child.

Gah - I hate the grasshopper days, where I simply can't seem to settle into anything. Might as well just go clean something.

    I think I will.

Day 1 of my new schedule and 3-day weekends every other week. So far I have slept and slept and slept -- almost 12 hours.

They do say that one side effect of the vaccine is fatigue and I'm generally exhausted anyway.

I told several people at work that I was going to a 9-day fortnight and they've been really supportive. My office is a supportive place in general, but it has made me wonder if I have appeared stressed for a while.

The main reason I've gone to a 9-day fortnight ...
For a while now, I’ve felt like my husband would benefit from having me at home a little bit more. The specialists believe that he will likely start deteriorating soon because brain injuries of the severity of his often lead to dementia and the results of his most recent neuropsychological assessment show that his cognitive ability to plan and organise has deteriorated from his previous assessment. I have noticed that as well.

So I hope to begin helping him more in the garden, getting us both out for more exercise, etc. 😊

But today, now that I'm up, I almost feel slightly uncomfortable with the day off. Like I should be checking in at work or doing a list of things. I'm trying to convince myself that this is my time and I can do what I want.

I didn't do a whole lot today but one thing I did was to walk around the garden with my husband and get him to tell me what things are and what's going on. It made me realise that we're going to have to move into a place with a smaller, simpler garden soonish. Maybe not this year but definitely within the next 5 years ... maybe even the next 2 or 3. It's too much for him now. That was quick. One summer he was OK with it, the next he is not. And even with my 25-ish extra days off each year, it will be a challenge for me to try to get on top of it, especially since I am not a gardener!

I also had a look around the house. Throughout university, I was really good at putting "blinders" on so I could focus on my uni work. Even now, I can pop those "blinders" on and do whatever I have decided to do that evening after work. Today I took them off and looked. Yikes! The inside of the house is going to be a challenge too. I kind of assumed he was staying on top of things in the house, but nope, just very gradually slipping behind.

I am really glad I made the decision to take 3-day weekends every other weekend and probably needed to start doing that at the beginning of the year. But I am going to be a busy lady.

Fortunately, I guess, my 2021 List is all about making things easier in the long run. I think I'll have to pick up the pace with it.

This house has a huge yard to mow, and many bushes to trim. My Dad does it all for now, but his last day of yardwork is coming! But it's too late for my Mom to move to a smaller place. With her memory loss, she would be lost and confused, and probably start to wander. I figure as long as she can climb the stairs, we will be okay here. Even if I hire out the yardwork, or don't do it to previous high standards. Lots of factors to consider.

Reconcile Joe’s EOB’s Thrivent shows only 2263.48 so far, next BGBS ask Terry about GB’s FD firetruck tax levy – contacts, media, advocate???, Reward: inventory seeds, plan this spring’s garden, wishlist replenishments (Milena F1 orange peppers).
    Meaningful May:
6: Look for people doing good and reasons to be cheerful: T’s patience with my pace, misty, moisty, morning in the mystical forest.
7: Let someone know how much they mean to you and why:

Lisa Sparkly, yay! Heavy chainsaw, boo. Painted aprons .
Heather, “exercising” interrupted by Waitrose delivery and DS call? :naughty:
Allie Taliah’s “friends” aren’t really friends if they stopped talking to her because of that stunt. That stunt sounds like a cry for help to me. Is there any way you could get her in to talk to a counselor experienced with teen issues?
Rebecca, Roberta’s goodness shines right out of that pic. ((hugs))
Barbie your garden projects sound inspiring.
    Margaret stunning pics.
Debbie glad for the good catch but sorry the laser treatment hurt so much. Joe says it feels like your eyeball is being boiled like an egg. :astonished:
Carol are there any stretches recommended for your Achilles tendon? I do stretches before I get out of bed in the am that have completely eliminated my plantars fasciitis.
    Beth (((hugs)))
Katla  the hanging basket flowers.
Kim ((hugs)) Amazed you were able to get your mom and appointment tomorrow. Well done.
    Michele are you swimming yet?
Annie summon some fortitude my way too, wouldja’?
Machka I think your priorities (help DH in the garden, getting him out for more exercise) are spot on. When those work worries niggle, just tell them that your home work is scheduled for now, and the office work can wait ‘til your next in-office day.

Lovely walk today with T in the misty, moisty, majestic redwood forest. Felt like a hobbit in Lothlorien.

Hope these strolls are building my stamina but it doesn’t feel like it. I was wiped out and fell asleep sitting straight up watching the TV… twice! Finally gave in and went to bed where I napped for 3 hours. Got up, folded laundry, did dishes, brought recycling bin in from car and caught up here, now ready to go to bed for the night. Pooped.

    Lighter, lovelies!

this was more like a hot poker over and over- it was supposed to be 20 min but it ended up being at least 20 with each doctor- I know I had to lay and wait for the second one but I was in that chair alone for just over an hour. Eye is still hurting/irritated some this morning but not as bad as yesterday. I am just happy it is over with and that they did catch it before it got worse

Have a lot to get done today beings nothing got done yesterday-That is ok- I do better under pressure anyways.

I am determined to work on my taxes today, despite my ADD and all my little procrastination tendencies. I need to at least figure out if I have any questions to research and ponder because the time for that is getting limited. I did ride my bike today and paid a bill that was sitting around. So there's no reason I can't jump into my taxes. 1. Download some software 2. Look up the input numbers and 3. File. I can do this. Even if I hit a snag, I can work on it, and have a few days to overcome it.

Hmm. My head is still not convinced.

Michele: The secret to our plant success is an automatic dripper system. It is set to come on twice a day, first thing in the morning and early evening. We add a tiny bit of fish-fertilizer in each watering cycle. Plants are very happy, and I don’t ever forget to water because it is set up to run itself.

Annie: Sorry your daughter is not talking. I hope the hard feelings eventually resolve themselves. :broken_heart::heart:

Debbie: Raspberries are my all time favorite. I haven’t seen them in the stores yet. :ohwell:

(((Machka))): You’ve made smart decisions in a difficult situation. I hope you are able to have good times with your DH.

Barbara: The wooded trail is lovely! :flowerforyou:

Allie: I hope you have good times with your granddaughter. It sounds as though she needs a little one on one time. “Grandma time” is the best blessing for Talliah. She is lucky to have you.

Rebecca: Beautiful dishes!!!! The flowers add beautiful colors choices that are delightful.

DH is reading in our upstairs sitting area and I plan to join him. Have a great day!

The school pick up was a bit hectic. Edie was determined to join in with her friendship group for the Friday afternoon ritual of getting together to share sweets. I didn’t understand what she was trying to do and got cross with her as she wasn't coming with us. In the end I got the idea. ;) They have definitely got to the stage when their friends are more important than us. They were in 'school mode'. Bea is still young enough to need us to help her in a crowded playground. It was a sea of blue and yellow, the school colours so it was impossible to pick them out.
All calmed down once we set off for home. We had a portion of Max's birthday cake, made by my son. Heavenly!
We sat inside for the first time in over a year. Not strictly allowed, but we are all vaxxed now.
I think Max liked his tent, but I can forsee lots of arguments with his sisters. Edie was already hoping to move in with her friends. Tears all round! But the parents were very grateful that we picked them up. They had double booked and couldn't make it. We saved the day! :D

Rain forecast for tomorrow. Cleaner coming.
