@kgirlhart I hope your MIL gets to feeling better soon! Glad your back was good today. Even at 55°F, 100% humidity is tough. Glad you are able to get your runs in even on super busy days.1

@shanaber beautiful pictures!
@polskagirl01 good luck on your race!
@journeywithave glad your ankle is holding up.
Just a slow 6.5 miles this morning. Nothing exciting.

Sunny, lower 50s F, and little wind this morning. Had a fun run. My unofficial chiropractic care is already doing wonders for my lower back, and I'm only two days into it.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2021 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?

I was unable to run today and wound up at the ER. I should be fine, but running may be out of the question in the next couple to few days perhaps. I'm thinking I can repeat this week all over again next week to avoid any setbacks in the base building plan. Time will tell. Hope everyone has a great weekend!11

Oh No @whatmerunning! Take care of yourself and feel better!0

@Tramboman Glad your back is feeling better!
Oh no @WhatMeRunning ! Take care of yourself and hope you get better soon!
@shanaber I've been wondering about @rheddmobile too! I hope she and her DH are ok.
I worked in the 2 year old classroom today. We only had 9 kids total, so it wasn't too bad. One of the people I was supposed to play tennis with has hurt her back, so we had to cancel. That was probably good for me too. I didn't sleep much last night and have been really tired today. Tennis may not have been the best idea. I do plan to play singles in the morning. I hope I can get to bed earlier and, therefore, be better prepared for that. We shall see.
I did take Tippy for a one mile walk back in the field after work today. Keeping my modified streak going. So far this week, it's all been walking. I hope to get in a bit of a run over the weekend and see where my energy level is.3 -
@shanaber Amazing pictures! I would absolutely love to climb at Joshua Tree. It's on the list for sure!!0

We went for a hike today since I have to work tomorrow. It's been a while but my family planned to work through the Lone Star Trail segment by segment. The weather isn't too hot this week and I knew we probably wouldn't get much more time before summer really sets in. It has rained a little off and on but I didn't expect it to be so wet out there. Pics in the spoiler of the swamp we hiked through and the bridges that were partially washed out. That part was actually was kind of fun. The down side was all the mosquitoes. We learned today that downed pine limbs make great natural fans to keep the mosquitoes off of you.

Glad you had a nice hike, even if it was wet and mosquito-y @martaindale. The doll is a bit creepy. LOL0

I’m here! I’ve been reading and liking every day but haven’t felt much like posting since my runs haven’t been great. It seems like a bunch of us have been under the weather. @WhatMeRunning I hope you are okay!
This last week I completed my usual number of miles, which is a step forward, even if they were slower and harder than usual and felt harder. If anyone remembers a couple years ago when I had a weird pain at the back of my knee, it’s back. Never did figure out what this pain was, it seems to have something to do with my valgus knee which was injured in an accident putting sideways pressure on the joint. I tried resting it, it didn’t really improve, started ignoring it and running anyway, and it eventually went away.
The weather has been literally perfect for running, for my taste anyway. The sort of weather where the soft breeze feels like a kiss on your skin! It’s good that I got to enjoy it for a little bit, because the forecast at the moment says thunderstorms for the next 12 days. Um, what? I’m hoping that turns out not to be true, because I don’t own a treadmill and won’t run in a lightning storm!
Two pieces of good news: after doing a belly dance class online, which involved staring at my tum in the mirror a lot, I decided to work on my abs some and dragged out my abs roller which I haven’t used in a year. I used to be able to go about halfway down, but now after doing 75 push-ups every day for a year, I can just swoop all the way down into a full extension and back up, ten times in a row, without breaking a sweat! Who is this person? The other good news is that the momma raccoon in my shed finally brought her babies out to play! Oh my gosh so adorable. I think there are three but only saw two at a time. They are about the size of big squirrels right now.

Hi everyone, long time no see! I think I last posted in early April, frustrated at being off running (again!) following wisdom tooth extraction. Long story short, after a terrible start to April, I got my head down and picked back up.
Since then I’ve run 4 miles every other day and done strength training on the non-running days. Pleased to say I haven’t skipped a single day! I’ve also stopped driving the school run and commute to work so my step count is through the roof now!
Work and life otherwise has been pretty challenging and I’m glad I’ve had exercise to help me mentally and physically. So happy to see @skippygirlsmom and @quilteryoyo recovered and running again, and so many others staying consistent and hanging in there on the running in these tough times. @AlphaHowls - no words! Just amazing inspiration.
Am at 35.3 miles so far for May and target is 60, so I think I’m on track.
I would definitely join any kind of annual memorial run - thank you to those proposing to organise it.
Lots of love and happy running to you all xx12 -
@rheddmobile Glad you are okay, except for the knee. I hope that resolves itself soon. Yay on the ab roller and the racoons. Their babies are really cute! Enjoy watching them grow. They are calling for storms here too, but I think it's mostly the scattered afternoon "summer" type storms they always call for when it heats up and there's humidity. Hit or miss.
Glad you are getting back on track @Faebert . Sounds like you are doing great so far this month. It's really hard when life throws all it has at you.

Sunny, mid 40s F, and no wind at all for the first 5 ks. After I finished, my watch flashed something at me about a new VO2 Max, so after I synced my run, I took a look. It said my VO2 Ma today was 43, which is in the top 10 percent for my age and gender. I seem to recall the last time I was crowing about my VO2 Max, it really took a nosedive. So I need to pay attention.

TLDR: did a slow hike/climb with nothing but rocks and survived
I took the pups for a walk yesterday around the neighborhood because I wanted to head up to the trails, none of my friend were around (Skip was at work) so I took Champ and went to a trail head about 5 miles from my house. It’s maybe a total of 3 miles if you do all the trails, I’ve never been there before and evidently picked the wrong trails ha ha. There was very little dirt and it really like hiking on rock, but lots of down down down to have to climb back up. That would have been fine if I didn’t have Champ on a leash and if I felt more confident in my ankle. It took me almost 90 minutes to go 1.5 miles and Garmin says I was actually moving about an hour (I got lost 3 times – honestly people where are the blazes on the trees). Luckily I had maplets so I was able to get back on course. At times I just let Champ go so he could climb ahead of me because the leash wasn’t long end for him to find footing while attached to me. Those who don’t know Champ’s story he came to me as a runaway from a house on the next street, they couldn’t get him to stay he would actually jump out windows to escape. Luckily I got a good chance to test his recall, he would wait for me when I told him to wait and come back when I called him if he got a little ahead. Afterwards I talked to a friend who goes there a lot and she said OMG why did you go on the trail it’s so hard. Ha ha after looking at maplets after I started up it, no *kitten* I was crossing all the lines. But the good thing is my ankle was talking to me while out there, I slipped a few times and it scared the life out of me, honestly at one point I wanted to cry, but I’m back on the trail after my fall for the first time and I’m happy. Today my friend Amanda and I are going to Monte Sano where I normally trail run, she is just getting back into running after a few months off so we’ll be doing a combo of walking and running. This was the start and the flattest part
Thank you @Faebert glad to see you back in the swing of it
@sanaber I have always wanted to go to Joshua Tree it looks beautiful.
@Avidkeo glad you are feeling good enough to get an easy run in
Thank you @quilteryoyo be careful you don’t overdo. I didn’t cut my lawn before I went to get Skip because it kept raining, then it rained when we got home I finally did it on Tuesday I think and I have to cut the back twice.

@martaindale oh my, some poor girl lost her doll out there, never came back for it, and now it's creepy.
I'll try to update later, after the race... 3 1/2 hr to go, and it's now raining (forecast says rain all through next week). I switched out some of my clothing choices I had laid out, and am gonna take a little nap4 -
@quilteryoyo @polskagirl01 The doll was super creepy but somehow also seemed completely expected on a trail.1

I went for a 5 mile run this morning. I usually don't run on Saturdays but the forecast is for rain and thunderstorms for the next nine days or so. I figured I should run while I had the opportunity. I may run again tomorrow, but if I can't then at least I got a run in this weekend even if it wasn't a long run. It was a good run. I live in a small town, so I never really run anywhere new, but I was trying to stay close to home so I ran my route differently than usual. It was warm at 72°F with 84% humidity and 17 mph winds. So not the best running weather, but not stormy and I was happy to get a run in.
I finally caught up on reading the thread. I gave lots of likes and hugs but won't try to mention everyone. I'm glad to hear that most who have been feeling under the weather are on the mend and hope everyone else feels better soon. Lots of great pictures too..
I hope I'll be able to get some good runs in this week. Hopefully it won't be too stormy or rainy. I won't run if there is thunder and while I might run in the rain I prefer it not to be raining.

Nice run and excellent fitness @Tramboman !
@skippygirlsmom Glad you survived that hike. I would have been like you and been scared to death when you slipped. So glad Champ was good for you too. Hope you enjoyed your run today.
@sweetdaisy13 Your recovery is faster than I sprint. LOL
@kgirlhart Nice run. I'm with you...no running in a storm. Rain, maybe. Hope you have better weather than expected next week.
I did get to play singles tennis this morning with a friend I haven't seen since Sept. We had fun and it was nice catching up. I had no issues from the surgery, or anything else. While I did lose the one set we played, 5-7, I felt I did really well for not having played at all in so long.
When I got home I took a mile walk for my streak. Then I took a nap and cleaned the gutters when I got up. I didn't turn Garmin on, so didn't get to count the calories burned for that.
My tummy still isn't 100% and I don't feel like eating normally. I was thinking this morning how ironic it is that the stomach flu threw me for more of a loop than open heart surgery did.

I'm a little unsure if I'll do my planned long run tomorrow because it may rain. I am normally fine running in the rain but what is interfering with my running (and the cause of my ER visit) is a skin infection that got really bad, really quickly, and didn't respond to my initial attempts to take care of it. The discomfort from it affects my gait. I'm on both anti-biotics and anti-fungals for it and am already seeing some changes for the better. I don't think running in the rain is wise, for many reasons. Given the forecast, I could possibly miss more than just tomorrow.
Glad to hear you are getting better @rheddmobile.
Great to hear you are running again @Faebert
Glad your ankle is well after that hiking test @skippygirlsmom
@polskagir01 your description about the old cemetery is pretty creepy!
@kgirlhart I am with you on hoping it will not be as rainy as forecast.

@WhatMeRunning Probably smart to forego running in the rain, or maybe running at all, until it is cleared up. Hope that happens quickly!1

@skippygirlsmom way to go on your trail hike. You are really brave to go back there so soon. I would have been scared to death! You rock 😉
@Faebert good to hear from you! Glad you are continuing to get out there.
@TheMrWobbly sorry your knee is giving you trouble. Hope you can rehab it quickly.
@WhatMeRunning sounds like a good call not running in the rain. Hope you start healing and feeling better soon.
@sweetdaisy13 very nice recovery run!
@Tramboman really strong running!
@polskagirl01 fantastic job on your 5K race (saw it on Strava)!
I tried to get out before the rain. I was successful, but it started raining around mile 6. It felt really good though, but I had already told myself to stop after 10 miles, so even though I physically felt good to keep going, mentally I was done after 10. So my HM+ streak on the weekends stops at 6. That's fine; it was time for a cutback week anyway. But it ended up being my fastest 10 miles this year.
