Thanks a lot @WhatMeRunning & @Scott6255!! Appreciate it very much☺️
Excited about this challenge and cant wait to get on the treadmill again in the morning 🥳3 -
Thank @polskagirl01 ! I have thought about it and it is my streak, my rules. I think I will be more motivated to continue if I get to keep the 117 and just add in that I paused it for a day - hopefully I won't have to pause it any more. Love the pictures of your running route. So pretty. Love that the fishermen cheered you on. Humm. Two ton of coal. I think you all got your strength workout for the day.
Thanks @skippygirlsmom . I use MFP mostly on my laptop. I have horrible internet, so never know if it is MFP or the internet when I have problems. I just keep trying until I get on.
Welcome @journeywithave ! It's a great group. I concur with everyone else. Take it easy coming back from the ankle injury. No need to push it too hard to meet a goal and injure yourself further. Looks like you had a great run today.3 -
Welcome @journeywithave!
@Avidkeo and @penguinmama87 hope everyone feels better soon!
@polskagirl01 very pretty place to run! That sounds like a ton of work, or 2 tons (sorry )
@quilteryoyo I like your mom's attitude about the streak. Why start all the way over again?

My streak of lack of energy continues. I am also having a little bit of shin pain which I'm thinking is just my shoes so I ordered a new pair today, even though my most recent pair is not that old. I have been kind of alternating an older pair in there a bit more than I should.
I worked later than I expected and really did not want to run today so I set out to just walk Stella. But about 1 mile in I decided I might as well run a little, so we did our stop and go run for another 2 miles. I should never try to pass my house with Stella to get up to an even mile. She puts on the brakes so hard with her whole 35-lb force of will. "This is where we live! You are not making me go any further!!"10 -
Interesting start to my day - I’m out of town at a conference and arranged to catch up with a friend I haven’t seen for nearly 20 years. The plan was a very early run together. I assumed because of the 5:15 start we’d be running for a hour, and as she’s been running for years (I didn’t run when we were close) I assumed she’d be fit/fast. Based on these assumptions I shortened my scheduled 60 minute run last night to just 40 minutes - I didn’t want to hold her back by being slow. As it turns out, our 5:15 run was 30 minutes long and involved a lot of walking (we were going uphill for half of it). So I found myself at 6:30 done and dusted but not feeling like I’d done anything so I went off and did my scheduled interval run. Never done two runs in one day before - there was a coffee in between - so a new first for me.11

Hahaha about Stella putting on the brakes @katharmonic . I guess she thinks you have lost your mind and don't know where you live. It's also amazing how "heavy" a 35 pound dog can be when they don't want to move. Glad you got a little running in and hope you get your energy back soon.
@ContraryMaryMary Glad you got to catch up with a friend, even if it wasn't what you expected. Also glad you got the experience of two runs in one day. Now you know what that feels like.
I have felt a lot better today. Still not normal, but a lot better. I knew just how much better when I did my mile walk on the treadmill and felt like I was being lazy rather than giving it my all and being smart. I'll still call it smart based on the group mantra to give it at least one more day when you are think you are well enough to run again. Well, I didn't get that exactly right, but you all know what I mean.

Thanks all, I'm also feeling better, will be running tomorrow. Just got a bit of a cough that occasionally turns into a coughing fit.
Actually having a break has made me feel better, I'm really looking forward to running again after feeling a bit in the dumps.7 -
Got out for another run today. Started yesterday's route backwards, then went another way to explore other roads and finished up with 11 km. Now all I have left to run this week is the 5k race Saturday night (so far no cancelations) and I'll have my 40k
It was overcast, cool and spitting rain at times, but still pretty. Also new trail shoes arrived. Found them online at VERY discounted prices (less combined than I usually pay for 1 pair of running shoes), so I ordered them. Already wore the one pair, so they aren't as pretty.
Other than the PT exercises, I am not planning any more workouts today or tomorrow. I'm "aware" of my lower back, but it doesn't hurt, more like a "sort-of" soreness. Understandable considering my day yesterday.10 -

When I helped a friend through C25K, I frequently treated it as a long warmup, and then continued on with my planned run for the day. I'm sure the easier intervals did accomplish something for my fitness/endurance. Great job getting back out there a second time!6 -

I started doing 2 runs per day this year a couple times a week. Mostly because the weather was so beautiful at lunch and I wanted to do some shorter (2 and 4mile) speed work. Now of course it is going to get hotter here in Tx soon and also probably I will be back in the office at least a few days a week starting in June so that is going to change. But I REALLY say a huge difference in my pace. Plus more miles for RTY of course. It was not a difficult move to make as I was already trying to get at least a 20 min mid morning walk and afternoon walk away from the computer done so changing it to a run gave me a lot more bang for the buck!9 -

@ContraryMaryMary That’s rough when you have an expectation. I’m always like hey here’s my pace, I’m in X shape these days plan accordingly. Unfortunately when we run with others we are usually at the pace of the slowest. Glad you got to see your friend though.
@polskagirl01 nice new shoes!! The pictures are beautiful
@quilteryoyo I deleted the app and reinstalled and it’s happy now
Welcome @journeywithave glad the ankle is better

I added my strength training back into the schedule this week (shouldn't have stopped, but you know, got lazy) so I suspected today's run would be a bit more sucky since yesterday was squats along with that stamina effort run. I was definitely slower starting off as my legs were hesitant to follow my brains commands to start running and I wound up running that first segment a lot farther than usual. I can probably chalk part of that up to increased cardio, but I am sure a fair share was a slower start. Once I got going however the only issues were that my legs had a slight case of the noodles, but not too terrible. In the end I wound up with a speedy first mile from that longer first segment, and then some slightly slower miles than on my recent comparable efforts. It all averaged out to about the same distance as I reached on the other two 48 minute runs this week, so I performed better than I felt. According to Garmin my form didn't break down either on any of the metrics it gathers, which was a surprise because I felt like I was needing to correct my form a lot today. I guess I managed to stay on top of that.4 -
Thank you @WhatMeRunning slow and steady1

@quilteryoyo it's rapeseed, which they use to make cooking oil (similar to canola).

A cold front blew in, so I had 60's this morning! Such a nice change from earlier in the week. Monday was so nasty that I just went for a walk. I didn't see the point in torturing myself just because. I was also supposed to run tomorrow, but the family may go hiking instead. And I should run Saturday but I have work. So, I don't know. It may be next week before I run again. Maybe I'll get out for a run on Sunday. I do my weekly cooking on Sunday so that is a bit of a challenge sometimes, but maybe I can make it work.
My 8 mile race next weekend is actually 8.6 miles. Guess it's good I know that going in so I'm not suffering for the last mile wondering where the finish line is. So far, the weather isn't looking as bad as it could be. Though it may be a little muddy due to rain off and on for several days leading up to race day. I will take that any day over 90's and sunny, which is not unusual in May. This is not a PR type of race for me. This will most likely be a walk-run type race for me and mostly a good excuse to have a weekend alone!
Glad to hear everyone is on the mend. I hope I don't encounter that stomach bug. It doesn't sound like an easy one.7 -
Hi guys:)
Todays interval run from earlier this morning. Guess my ankle is back on track. Yay💃🏽

It is good to see that most of you that were feeling poorly are starting to see the light at the end of that tunnel. Where is @rheddmobile though? I hope you and your husband are back to feeling well and running again!
Welcome to our group of crazy runners @journeywithave! Many of us do strength training at least a couple of days a week. I used to keep to a pretty strict schedule 3xWeek but with the gyms closed for so long I also got lazy/bored doing it at home by myself. I am trying to get back into that habit now as I have PT exercises I need to be doing regularly to rehab and keep an injured hamstring healthy.
@ContraryMaryMary - I have met up with friends to run, some slower and some much faster. Since I am usually slower I tend to bring it up to say why don't we get coffee instead so I don't disrupt their training. I also hate being left behind which has happened a couple of times with group runs with women I didn't know well. I had a friend with me who was even slower so I felt fortunate to have someone to finish with. All that to say it was nice that you slowed down to run/visit with her and could go back out again to get your planned workout done.
@polskagirl01 - love the new running trails, so beautiful! And shoe porn! Especially discount shoe porn! Glad your back is feeling better and wasn't unhappy after moving (2!) tons of coal around! I am already excited to read your race report!
@SummerSkier - Love that song! Had to add it to my running playlist
Yesterday we had to be out of the house while the housekeeper came so we headed out to the Palm Springs area to explore, maybe drive through some areas with wild flowers and have lunch on a patio somewhere. I got up early and got my run in. Dh had looked up a bunch of places and decided we should visit Joshua Tree National Park. It is about 2.5 hours from our house (near Palm Springs) and in all the time living here we had never been there. Too bad he didn't mention it before we left and I would have dressed for hiking rather than lunch on a patio somewhere. 😂 It was a gorgeous hot day (over 95F) and I am hoping to go back again maybe in the fall when it is cooler there and I can do more hiking and climbing. The park was pretty busy and all of the campsites were full - amazing for middle of the week in May.
Several pictures under the split. Those of you like @martaindale who rock climb would love it.
Note I did not 'enhance the color of any of the pictures. The sky really was that blue and it was incredibly quiet.
The only wildflower we saw all day was this tiny one sheltered by a big rock. It has just been too dry I guess.
A Yucca tree 'orchard' - they are laid out almost symmetrically that they look like they were planted and not just randomly by nature.
I hope to come back and explore/climb some of these
Going to need to up my miles if I am to make the 100 mile club this month

Stunning pics @shanaber - fabulous rocks, amazing trees (if a bit prickly) and stunning sky. I'm not surprised you want to go back.
Rest day today - just yoga, which is all I do in the way of functional strength. All that one-legged balancing is a great ankle and foot workout, and I always do plenty of glute and hamstring strength poses. Not quite the same as lifting weights, but combines balance and flexibility with a bit of body-weight strength training, which is ideal for me.10 -
So beautiful @shanaber! Would love to see Joshua Tree.
Thanks @WhatMeRunning, felt better today. Great job on the strength training and maintaining the strong running.

I did two runs today - 2 miles on the treadmill as warmup before strength training, and then a little over 3 after work with a friend. Gorgeous day out and it was so nice not to be cold! I know some of you are having the opposite type of relief but I'm ready for some warm weather to stick around.7 -
Hey all.
Managed to go for a run this morning! I did a 7k easy run. Was so good to get out. I still have a cough though its a lot less hacking than it was. More clearing throat now.
Tomorrow I'm RD for Parkrun. Its supposed to be wet and cold - it was only 2 degrees C when I got up this morning! So I've got my ski gear out to wear, I figured it's warm and waterproof haha. I'm also going to do a long run after so will be taking several layers so I can figure out what's best to wear after Parkrun.
I'm also working all weekend 3pm - 11pm. Fun times9 -
Great job on the intervals @skippygirlsmom !
Nice running @WhatMeRunning !
Thanks @polskagirl01 . From the pictures it looks a lot like the wild mustard we have around here. So excited about your 5K on Saturday.
@martaindale Glad you had good weather for one run and glad you know the true distance of the race beforehand. That would suck if you didn't know. I hope you don't get the stomach bug either. It was awful.
Nice 5K @journeywithave ! Glad your ankle is healed!
Love the pictures @shanaber! Hope you can do that exploring once it cools off.
Congrats @jjchristensen1993 on your continuous 4 miles! You're doing great.
Nice running @katharmonic ! I'm ready for warm weather to stick around too. Just don't want it to get hot for a while.
@Avidkeo Glad you are feeling better. Coughs are often hard to get rid of. Good luck with parkrun and your run after.
I felt better today, but my tummy still isn't totally back to normal. Main symptoms are a pain every once in a while and, the weirdest thing is that I burp every time I drink something. I am not a burpper (is that a word?), so this is really unusual for me.
Hopefully, I didn't overdo it today. I took mom for a follow up appointment to her doctor this morning (She's good. Medicine adjustment.) and then we did some shopping. After I got home, I was tired, so ate a bite and reclined for an hour, napping a little. I got up and took Tippy for a walk in the field. We haven't been for a while, so thought I would take her for her estimated birthday - she's 8 today. That got my mile in for my streak. Then, when I got back, I mowed my lawn. That took 2:14:45 minutes. It was hard today since it didn't get mowed last week.9 -

I haven't had a chance to come on here the last couple of days. My mother in law has been sick and it is crazy busy at work.. But I have been running. Yesterday's run wasn't very good. It started out ok, but about 1.5 miles in I had a spasm in my back. My back had been a little grumpy the day before (I blame working at a desk). I had to stop for a minute and I started heading towards home. I thought I might have to walk home, but after a minute or two I started slowly running and it felt better as I went on and I ended up with 5.1 miles. I played Zombies Run and evaded all the Zombies. I also saw a skunk and evaded him too.
Today I ran 5.25 miles. My back was fine. I told myself that if it bothered my back I would just walk and head home early. But it was good. The humidity was 100°, but luckily the temperature was only about 55°F.
I am behind on reading the thread so I am going to go do that now.
