@skippygirlsmom - Happy belated birthday to Skip! It does seem like just yesterday you were posting her XC and track runs. Crazy how that works.
@polskagirl - Thanks for not sharing a picture of any of the sections of trail where the mysterious pooping camper had left their mark! I hate it when our technology goes wrong, especially when you have invested planning into it simply to wind up having to guess how it all went in the end. I too am amazed at people who can not only run that far for so long, but also tackle that sort of elevation. There was a time I actually felt ready to try and train for such things (got injured though), but I am far from such a point now. It's amazing what people can achieve.
Best wishes on everything going on right now @rheddmobile you are going through a lot.
Glad to hear your back is feeling better @tramboman!6 -

There is nothing that could possibly show off how turtle slow and out of shape I am than my 45 second sprint intervals in today's run. I finished them though. I could barely push myself up into Z5 for much time at all before my legs started crapping out, so I need some more of this kind of training for sure.
It would be nice to be able to run in something other than 100% humidity for at least one day.6 -

My son wanted to sleep so I went solo today! Beautiful sunrise. I'm glad I got out when I did because it's supposed to get over 90F today, and it was 62 and breezy when I went out.
@polskagirl01 Oh my goodness. I've seen some stuff left behind by animals while out and about (wild is one thing though still icky, but I do get irrationally angry about people who don't pick up after their pets). But I can safely say I've never seen it from our own species. Yikes. That whole situation would have really creeped me out!
@rheddmobile That's so frustrating with your mom! I think managing logistics is often more frustrating than the actual illness or treatment.4 -

@polskagirl01 that is too funny. I use an app called maplets and it seems to be good for helping me when I’m lost. I do laugh then I look at my strava sometimes I can always tell where I walked in circles. Gross on dump on the trail. Even when Champ has to go I get something to fling it off the trail and into the woods.
@rheddmobile praying for your mom. It’s so hard when you a family member is in the hospital.
@quilteryoyo and @WhatMeRunning she said thank you very much. @quilteryoyo She’s already brought me home a couple of t-shirts from various races I haven’t fun ha ha. It is nice getting her 30% discount.
@SummerSkier glad you are getting checked out, always a good idea.
I just booked Skip and I a trip to Florida, we haven't seen my brother or my aunt and uncle in 3 years, I'm so excited. (ok not about my brother but my aunt and uncle LOL)

I was complaining about the storm that will batter these parts for the coming days yesterday. I secured my balcony plants, and did fairly little today apart from two quick walks into town. Where I noticed some spots with fairly little wind. So when storm briefly dropped a bit this evening I did my easy Garmin coach run of 4.02km on three circles through the shopping street. One direction was easy anyway, the other was... interesting. 5 minutes after I'd finished the storm return to full force. Lucky
One more run this week. Maybe.6 -
I have read, liked, and hugged as appropriate. Not much time again tonight. I have CPR training in the morning - a requirement for employment at the daycare, so there's no sleeping in for me this weekend.
I worked today from 8 - 5, but took a 2.5 hour break for a scheduled doubles tennis match. We did a lot more talking than we did playing, I fear, but it was fun. I hadn't see two of the ladies in over a year. Nice to catch up. Since I had done that, and today was a scheduled Foundation run or XT, I just walked a mile on the treadmill after I got home for my streak.7 -

Life keeps getting in the way and I keep getting behind on the thread. We finally got a break from the storms and I was able to get out for some runs. Wednesday I ran 5.3 miles and yesterday I ran 6 miles. Both runs were good. The temperature wasn't bad, but it was very humid both days. Yesterday I saw two skunks and of course lots of birds. I have really been enjoying it starting to get light before I finish my run. I don't mind running in the dark, but I prefer when it is light. Yesterday I looped by an area near the park where I sometimes see deer, but didn't see any. Maybe next time.
My son and his girlfriend came in last night. They are leaving their dog with us while they do to a wedding near Denver. I got up and did my yoga this morning and I wanted to get a walk in before work, but they were loading up and heading out and I didn't want to go until after they left and by then I didn't have time. But I did get my husband to go with me and the 3 dogs for a walk after dinner.. Now I am going to go back and read through the thread and see what you all have been up to.
Good luck at the Possum's Revenge tomorrow @martaindale. If you stay Saturday night I recommend eating at Possum Hollow restaurant. We ate there tonight and it was really good.

Wait a minute. I had my whole post typed up, and thought I posted it.... and it's gone. Ok, whatever.
Today was my day to complete my monthly HM training run, and since I'm collecting elevation lately, I did all of it in the forest. Constant up and down. I need a lot more practice. Lots of power-hiking up hills, and trying to improve downhill technique. It was also raining almost the whole time. My windbreaker works great as a cover for my hydration pack. I would've liked to quit at 17k, but don't really have another day this month when I could do the half marathon distance, so just kept going and now it's done and I feel good 😃
Just one scenery pic this time
May Goal 169k - probably not happening due to injury recovery earlier in the month

Not so long run today because I needed to get home to walk Stella before I go into work for a while, then the second graduation ceremony of the weekend, then out to dinner. It was humid this morning! But blessedly the temps were a little lower and there was cloud cover. Maybe tomorrow I can catch up with you all! Have a good weekend.6 -

Yay! What a day! Did a 1hr progressive bodyweight workout this noon and thought that running might not work. Garmin coach gave me a slow 4.82km. I ran 5km at the fastest pace in a loooong time, under 40 minutes (that's fast for me). No idea what the influence might be on the further running programme as I clearly did not run slow, but today I don't care.6

8 mile run, average pace of 8:46 min per mile.6

Hey all.
@rheddmobile thinking of your mum. How did surgery go?
Been hugging and liking as I went.
I'm pretty much just tired atm. Am on call for work this weekend, and while I had no calls after 1130 last night, I did not sleep well, waking every hour to check the phone. Went for a long run yesterday that I had to cut short due to scheduling. I'm on track for my next HM but I admit motivation is lacking. I think it's because we are heading into winter. I want to achieve a sub 2hr but the more I train the more I realise its going to be really tough. Wellington is known for wind, lots of wind. So my time on the day will be determined by the weather, and I'm finding that a bit demoralising. Oh well, will keep going and see what happens. I have 2 other halves scheduled this year, though one is only 3 weeks after the Wellington Half, so I have a couple of other chances.
I'm starting to really rethink what I do next year, and I'm thinking of concentrating in 5-10k distance. All the fun without the full on training.
7 -
@rheddmobile I'm so sorry about your mom.
@shanaber Congrats on winning new shoes!
Didn't run today. I usually take Saturday as a rest, but now I'm worried that it's going to be raining tomorrow. I really want to get 10 miles in. I guess as long as it isn't stormy I will still run. I did get out and walk the dogs today. First I took my son's corgi and after 2 miles we came back and got my two old dogs. They went about .30 miles and now they are all tuckered out.5 -
@kgirlhart Glad you got some good runs in. Enjoy your granddogs.
That's such a great thing to do @Tramboman ! Hope you had fun with whatever project you helped with.
You continue to amaze me @AlphaHowls !
Nice running @polskagirl01 ! Love your scenery!
@katharmonic Sounds like a fun, busy weekend. Enjoy.
Nice run @yirara .
I hope you can get your motivation back @Avidkeo. It was fun seeing how excited you were before your last HM. Weather is always a factor in races, at least for me. So, do your best with what Mother Nature gives you, enjoy, and, like you said, you have two more chances for a sub 2 hour HM.
I had my CPR and First Aid training this morning. I'm always glad for the refresher, as I'm scared I have forgotten something important. I close my eyes during the videos of impalements and amputations. Once the act is done, I can watch what to do to take care of it. I just can't watch the person actually getting hurt, even though I know it is fake. LOL
Came home and got mom and we took flowers over for my dad's grave for decoration. It's sad since it's the first time we've had to do that.
When we got home, my brother was mowing mom's lawn - using his zero turn which takes him about 15 minutes. Mom and I had decided to wait until next week, but we didn't tell him and he didn't check with mom first. So, instead of doing what I had planned this afternoon, I went down and helped mom do the trim work on the yard - she push mowed and I weed eat.
I was tried when I got home, so instead of running, took a fast mile walk with Tippy into the neighbor's field. Tomorrow is another extra busy day, so there will be no long run this weekend. I'm hoping maybe I can do one on Monday instead. We shall see if life throws me a curveball or not.6 -

Partly cloudy, low 60s F, with a little breeze from the north. It was one of those days where I had to talk myself out of cutting it short and finishing my planned run. Church community service was fun, but there were some physical parts that had me a little tired. My back normally would have been screaming at me, but since the chiropractic started, it may get a little stiff, but it doesn't hurt.

Made it through all of yesterday's events. I got home late last night so waking up to run this morning did not make me very happy. I agreed to meet friends because I knew I would bail on running if left to my own devices. I dragged myself out and it was incredibly humid. We did some trails which were hillier than I wanted, but a nice route. This group usually aims for about 4 miles but we overshot today and got just over 5. I'm glad to have it done. I need to head into work again today and hopefully this is the last weekend I spend at work for a while. Final push before deadlines on Wednesday and then I am looking forward to a long, long weekend.7 -
Wow, that's unbelievably sad @noblsheep0
-
OH my! That is horrific about the 21 Chinese runners. Ultaathletes. wow. So shocking and sad.
Managed to get a run in today to have 141.95 tot for May to date out of 200 goal. Realistically I am not going to hit the goal this month but I am still quite pleased with the quality of the runs. Lots of speed work and better heart rates. We have just not had great weather - a lot of rainy days which is tough to complain about in tx.... LOL.
I tried wearing a non racerback bra for a 10K run and it made no appreciatable difference to the ache between my shoulder blades so I an ruling out the running bras as a cause (plus I am not that well endowed that the bra strains... lol). I tried the roller but I am hopeless as far as using it and afraid I am going to injure myself more. The one thing which does appear to help is the shoulder shrugs if I do them at least once a qtr mile split BEFORE my back starts to ache. I am excited that for the first time in over a year I am going for a massage.. I used to try to get one every other month or so more if I had sciatica acting up. Of course the people are different so it's hit or miss until I happen on a talented one. Luckily I am not shy about speaking up about pressure and locations etc.
and just because I love these new on sale shoes even if I had to buy a half size up... warning shoe porn in spoiler.6 -
