Evening ladies
Didnt do a blessed thing today and took a couple of naps and feel better..
Tracy wants me mon, weds, friday and still take Carmine back and forth to school so that will be my schedule for right now..
My first husband like i have told you i met in a bar and i was 23 when we were married. But when your in love you are blind to other things.. his mother was severely challenged with mental difficulties ,and as our marriage went along so did Richs. He had a nervous breakdown right after i had Dan .. and i was always the stable one in the family..
We moved a few times within our hometown and as Dan grew he started having issues... hereditary i guess. Back in the 80s i guess they didnt test for autism like they do now i think he might be high functioning..
So after 2 children and 13 yrs of marriage and being very unhappy i filed for divorce.
It wasnt great and my only regret was that i didnt keep primary residence of the kids i was working 2 jobs just to keep a roof over my head.. more later4 -
Barbie I do the VERB test on myself as a check in to my mood.
Do I sound and act like a victim?
Do I act and sound entitled?
Do I act and sound like I want someone to rescue me?
Do I act and sound like I am blaming someone for my mood?
If the answer is yes to any of these it works against finding happiness.
I read this years ago in a book about happiness...similar to number three the author stated would you rather be right or happy?
I found these ?s to be a helpful guide.

Did part of Leslie Sansone’s 5 Day Walk Challenge DVD then a stretching DVD. No exercise since we’re leaving tomorrow (yea!!!!)
Betsy – congratulations! Will this be your first grandbaby?
Barbara – how can they use my voice to answer credit applications? They don’t know things like my mother’s maiden name.
Betsy – I guess in a way, I’m lucky in that I think the only financial thing on my computer is how much is in my “landscape” fund. All the financial stuff is on Vince’s computer and he does the taxes.
Loaded the car so the only things that have to go in tomorrow are the refrigerated food and the cat things Finished the one puzzle and started on the next one. I’m hoping to get the frame done before we leave. Had dinner then got my bag of food to take. Vince wants to shut down the server tonight so after I post this I’ll probably have to shut down.

Kim- I had to look up olallieberries. I had never heard of them. We have thornless blackberries at mom's(hopefully they survived this past year- 2 100ft rows of them that dad planted). I have two small plants that he started.
My raspberries have truly taken over in the front. I planted in two wine barrels. They spread(roots going through the bottom) into the lawn and into other wine barrels and along the walk way. I trellis them up but will dig some up again if they spread any further. They took over the area the strawberries were growing. I have a couple gallon bags full of berries in the freezer, need to do something with them so I can have the room back from them. I think I will cook them down and make freezer jam or take the cooked jam to mom and she can help me can/seal them.
I have several pots of raspberries between a driveway and hedge. We've got them sitting on cardboard to help prevent spread. Unfortunately they didn't produce berries this year. My husband isn't familiar with raspberries and pruned them at the wrong time. He also doesn't water them enough even though I keep reminding him ... that's the brain injury. He forgets about them. So I think I'll need to take them over.
We also have strawberries in containers along the railing next to our front door. They're doing well, although I think we could add a few more. I eat them right from the plants when they get ripe.
We had blueberries but lost them all to the birds. We'll have to get nets.
And our apples should be ready soon but something is trying to eat them too. Again, nets might be helpful. I don't know what I'll do with the apples. Some will go to apple jam and there might be an apple crumble, but there are a lot of apples.

We are watching the Superbowl. I am remembering high school football. We took school buses to away games, many that were far away. I remember two away games, far from our highschool. One was in Medford, OR and the other in Bend, OR. I loved the Bend game for the snacks — hot corn on the cob! Good memories from long ago. I enjoy highschool football, but not pro football. :noway:1

Carla, so funny about your mom blocking you with her flip phone. My fancy new iPhone has this "focus" feature that silences everybody and sends them straight to voice mail. It is apparently super easy to turn on without knowing you've done it. The first time it happened, I had no idea why I wasn't getting my calls. The second time I knew but couldn't remember what I did to fix it. At one time I knew how to silence individual people's texts, but I have forgotten. It was very handy when I was a substitute teacher. I had sub finder on silent all the time. The constant beeping in the wee morning hours was most annoying until I learned to silence it.
Betsy, hugs. It is very hard to contemplate losing a life-long companion. My parents have been married for 68 years (exactly 10 months longer than I've been born). These are the feelings my mother is dealing with as well. My husband is 9 years older than I. Luckily he is in good health at the moment. The sad reality, though, is that none of us are guaranteed tomorrow.
Michele, I wouldn't worry too much about saying "yes" on the phone call. Just make a note of the date and time in case it ever becomes an issue. You didn't give them any financial info, so I would think you're ok.
My mother and my sister told me yesterday that they thought it would be a good idea if I rested up this week. My sister is going to have to go home to NOLA for a while, leaving Sunday, Feb. 20. At that time, I will need to spend every night with Mama and Daddy. We do not want Mama alone with him at night in the event he passes. She freaked out when her brother died and none of us were there with her. It's going to be hard enough with us there. My cousin will do some daytime duty once my sister goes home, and I can run home and take care of some things. Luckily my husband is an understanding man. He went through this with his mom, moving to Minnesota for six straight weeks, living in a pay by the week motel, while he sat with her in a nursing home daily. My sister has been here for six weeks. She needs to go home for a while. She will come back after a few weeks at home or whenever the inevitable happens. I did not go up at all today. I got 8 hours of sleep last night and a 2-hour nap this afternoon. I will go back tomorrow, because the hospice chaplain is coming. I want to hear what he has to say.10 -

I love to go out to the front yard with my cup of tea in the morning and eat raspberries.
I have one blueberry plant that is blooming now(shouldnt be but it is). Hopefully I will finally get some berries on this- had buds last year but no berries
I need to spray my nectarine tree before it leafs out- don't want to get peach leaf curl again this year.

Debbie- We have three blueberry bushes and each is a separate but similar cultivar. I love them but had to cover them with netting to keep the deer from eating all of the berries. These plants are suited to our area in NW Oregon and produce well. 🫐🫐🫐

We have 6 blueberry plants, 3 different kinds. We had a bumper crop last year. Ours are fenced in to keep the deer from eating them. We also have a Gravinstein apple tree. It has just been pruned. The deer eat many that they find on the ground or can reach. The area we live in was at one time apple orchards so nearly everyone in our neighborhood has one or more apple trees.
I had a really long talk with one of my cousins today. It was well worth the time.
My son bought me an airline ticket so I will be flying to San Diego March 10 and staying until March 14. I am looking forward to sun and warmth.

Has anyone heard from Kylia @kymarai lately?
Spent way too much playing on the wii this morning but it got steps off to a good start.
Shortchanged the dogs in favor of lunchtime meetup with dear departed BFF’s sister. We laughed, cried, shared memories and held hugs extra extra long. Hard to believe my BFF’s been gone since 2005. It was almost like seeing her in her sister.
Heather thanks for commiserating.
Betsy I’m with you. Now wish I’d finished the taxes. They’re started but I won’t work on them til I get my laptop back with a clean bill of health.
Carla thank goodness for Google.
Tracey and KJ you were so very very young!
Rita con VERY grats on the good bloodwork report. Your hard work is paying off.
Barbie thanks for reposting those “things to give up...”
Rebecca so sassy Athena’s apple fell not far from her grandmother’s tree?
Debbie can’t imagine having too many raspberries. Good luck!
Margaret the Verb questions are new to me. Thanks!
Michele, I’m not sure, I think it’s just an identity verification hack, like if the bank asks “do you authorize this person to access your account (or apply for credit) (or access your records)” and they play back the recording of you saying “Yes.” Hope I’m mistaken.
Kay ((hugs)) 😢 ((hugs))
Joe and I met when we were both 30ish, at a friend's house. He became my mechanic. Enjoyed chatting with him whenever we happened to run into each other, or my car needed attention, but that was it. A few years later my BFF and I had to cancel our Worldcon Labor Day 1984 plans and were complaining about it at the friend’s house. Joe said “some of us from the gas station are going camping at the ridge, why don’t you come along.” “some of us” turned out to be Joe and his friend Ed. At one point Candy and I almost turned around but we took the chance. Joe and I have been together ever since. After we’d been living together for awhile, I found out why my dogs weren’t greeting me as crazily as they used to. This 6ft tall, leather jacketed, motorcycle riding, good looking bad boy, was filling his pockets with beef jerky and lying down on the floor when he came in, so my two yappy little black terrier mixes could find their treats. At that point I realized he was “the one!” We got married in 1987.
Lighter, lovelies!

Michele, more info on why to answer questions from unfamiliar sources with another question.
https://www.ag.state.mn.us/consumer/Publications/CanYouHearMe.asp
“In some cases, the caller may record the person saying “yes.” Scam artists may be able to use a recorded “yes” to claim that the person authorized charges to his or her credit card or account. How can scammers access your account? Some companies share their customers’ information with third‑party companies or allow third parties to charge customers’ accounts (called “cramming”) in exchange for payment. Scam artists may also obtain financial information from data breaches or leaks or through identity theft. “
Good luck!

Fortunately it seems there is no evidence of anyone being scammed.

Didn’t totally understand what “shutting down the network” meant. I just meant that I can’t access my Word documents, etc. But I can get here.
Having some eggs for breakfast right now. Eggs usually keep me really full. I know that the last 2 times we got to Hardeville to get gas, I was too full to eat lunch. Vince was hungry, he only has cereal for breakfast.
M – if you have an IP, applesauce is great. It just isn’t worth it financially unless you get free apples.
I think we are probably the only house in American that WASN’T watching the Super Bowl. I have absolutely no interest (other than seeing those guys in the tight pants running), and lately Vince has no interest, ever since the kneeling stuff started.
Katie – thank you for telling me that the “yes” is probably not a big deal. No, I didn’t give them any financial info or personal info. We’ll just keep an eye open. I don’t have any financial info on my phone (other than the info about how much is in my “landscape” fund). Now Vince does. He normally doesn’t access bank accounts etc from his phone but his laptop. You are such a good daughter! Being there for your mom.
When we first moved here, we had wild raspberries growing at the end of our road. They are cut down now, but I remember when they were growing someone in the neighborhood used to come and pick them. We had an apple tree in our third house and the deer used to come and eat the apples, too.
Barbara – banks know about this “yes” hack so I would think that their protocol would be to ask another personal question, not just take a “yes” answer when asking if someone can access an account. I would think a bank would be smarter than that. Or at least I would hope so
Barbara and M – thanks for the links. I’ll have to check them out when we get to FL since I really don’t have time right now.
Loki has been having diarrhea. Ever since Clyde passed, he seems to be lost. They were the best of friends. Yes, many times Loki viewed Clyde as “that annoying little brother”, but they would also many times lay next to each other and groom each other. I believe this diarrhea and lack of wanting to eat is a broken heart. Vince is concerned but that’s what I believe. Hopefully, he’ll get over this.

Happy Valentine's Day to All4

I picked out my own presents for DH to give me for V day. One was out of stock, so I ordered the other for him. Then the first one arrived, so I got both! An expensive day for DH.
Beautiful blue sky, so I suggested we went for a walk TOGETHER. At first he said no, then it dawned on him that this was meant to be a romantic suggestion. It was lovely on the seafront, with the waves pounding on the shingle.
Had our blinis with faux caviar for lunch. Tonight is skate. Yummo! We will share half a bottle of champagne. Got to keep my calories to 1500.
Sorting out what I am going to send to the newspaper. I resurrected and edited an old article about how I told my adult children, so might send that instead of the original. I will have another look this afternoon to see if I can adapt the one I first sent her.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx1 -
Our daffodils are nearly out!
A selfie. For some reason I had it on a 5 second timer, so DH looks a little confused!!!!
I failed to catch a decent photo of the waves breaking, but this is our view.

Happy Valentine's Day!2

Over here after dropping Carmine off and Travy got a call from her husbands cousin that she was going to be working from home for after maternity leave, well she took a job with a title company so that means Tracy has to either go back full time to the vet and pay for day care,or go to part time which they cant afford. To say she is upset is an understatement.. i told her to take a deep breath and all will work out.. she is worried about her husband flipping out.. this weekend wasnt great..
Im going to keep the whole family in my prayers...if you could keep them in your thoughts id appreciate it8 -
Happy Valentine's Day :flowerforyou:0

Allie - how long until Tracy is off of her maternity leave? Hopefully she has a few weeks to figure this all out.
Kim in N. California1 -
Rori--Your new job sounds exciting and fun. Being able to choose is great.
Beth--Sorry to hear about your mom's fall. I pray for fast healing and no problems. It is hard getting older. Remember to take time for yourself and breathe.
Katiebug--Also sorry to hear about your dad. Hospice is great for helping out and I pray it goes well. Do take some time for you and what you need to do for you.
Rebecca--Love the Althea pictures. She is growing up so fast and so pretty.
Michele--I would send the announcements as you and she are proud of what she has done. She has worked hard to get this far. Let the world know! I hope the change of place for awhile will help Loki adjust to Cylde's being gone.
Betsy--Congradulations on the up coming new DGGC. What a Blessing.
I met my DH when I was drinking a lot and he started showing up at the bars and asked me to go different places with him. We were both dealing with past relentionships and it took several years before we got it all worked out and got married. It will be 38 years in Nov and he is my best friend.
Barbie--Thanks for the reminder of the nine things to give up to be happy.
Allie--Good Luck to your daughter about the work-day care issue. It's not easy when we can't step in and make everything better for them.
It was a nice weekend and I did get some down time. It's a new week and new start. I only got to the gym 1 day last week, so going to try harder this week.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND ,NE
