Machka stunning river pics. Is that near where you live or was it an excursion?

That was during a little trip up north last weekend. :)

It's near a place we've stayed quite frequently and when we're there, I try to go for that walk.

    Morning ladies
Thank you ladies i will take all your thoughts and concerns into consideration.. Kim i think she would be working M-F 8-12 but with that being said she can drop Carmine at school and with it getting warmer will tell her she can walk home or Tracy will have to pick up. We shall see..
Im hoping some other jon comes up and maybeshe can get a job with Hilton and work from home that would solve alot of issues.

Good morning all! Happy Wednesday! Welcome to the new ladies! Join in when you feel the urge; and remember to bookmark the thread. <3
Ugh! Heather! A slip down the stairs and a sprained ankle! :( Sending healing thoughts your way. Be a good girl and stay off your feet!
Machka- Beautiful views on your walk! Your new office environment sounds like it could easily become a bit overwhelming. I would need to buy a pair of noise cancelling head phones, in order to work. It is not that I mind the noise, but I can become easily distracted by chit chat. lol
Rita- Blue skies and water sports. Looks like it was a lovely day and I am happy you were able to get out and enjoy it/clear the cobwebs away!
Allie- Those part time hours don't sound bad. YES! So many businesses are letting employees work from home. Is Tracy a travel agent? I know a couple of people who work for Disney; planning vacations for people...and they do it all from home.
Rebecca- Your soups sound SO good! I have been working my way through a pot of chicken soup this week.
Another "meet cute"- One of my childcare families; the parents went to the same childcare woman when they were very small and were best friends from infant through age five. When they were about five years old, the little boys family moved out of state. The little boy and little girl grew up and hardly thought of each other. Then... they ended up going to the same college and met at a pub near campus, introduced by friends. AFter chatting they figured out that they were from the same city, same neighborhood, same childcare...lol AND then they got married.

Well, kids are arriving and I have to get some pancakes going for them. I ran out of yogurt, so I had cottage cheese for breakfast. Meh...might have to follow it up with a bowl of soup. I feel like I need something warm. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

(((Heather))) - So sorry that you’re hurt! Ice and elevation are good things to help with healing from a fall or sprain. ❤️

Weight up 2.5 lbs this morning. How clear does it have to be? Plan today for nothing by mouth for the last hours before bed.

One of my cousins past about two years ago falling down stairs at his daughters house while watching his grandchildren. He was diabetic which might have contributed to his accident. I know from subbing that when you are in a different location you need to take more care. I had a few accidents and some close calls because of being in a strange place.

When DH was struggling with his balance the first thing I did was take up almost all our throw rugs. I also make an effort when I see any closet doors or drawers open to close them. I guess the newer cabinets automatically close and I do think that is a great safety feature. One thing I know I have to watch is not putting anything on the stairs that can be a tripping hazard.

Heather it sounds like the lack of light and making a misstep caused your accident. I am so sorry for your fall and missing your show. I am just grateful it wasn't even more serious.

When I turned the light off on the landing Max's light was streaming out into the hallway. Then, as I got to the small set of stairs, he turned it off. I thought, oh dear, I'll have to be careful. Whoops!

Enjoyed lunch. Talked too much because I have hardly seen anyone for ages. Oh well. I ate very sparingly. o:)
On the way there and back I sat in the back and watched downloaded episodes of a Netflix series called Shtisel. Very good..Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem. I'm loving it. I didn't notice the journey.

Now have my foot up .I slept for an hour and a half this morning after breakfast. DH can make a snack for dinner.

    Love Heather UK xxxxxx

KJ— I love cottage cheese and have it for breakfast most mornings. I have a scoop of 2 percent cottage cheese topped with blueberries. I grow the blueberries myself. Bliss! 🫐🫐🫐. It comes naturally. My grandfather was a cottage cheese maker during the 1930’s through the late 1940’s. He passed away when I was 3 or 4. DH likes his cottage cheese with pineapple chunks, (not the whole pineapple.)🍍🍍🍍

Yummy! I am quite the soup nut! If I have leftovers I add more stuff and eat that. Each bowl is a wee bit different.💖👍

    Hi Gals,

    A few random thoughts…

Allie – like most of us “Oldies” who have known you for years, I too have been concerned about the babysitting venture. Although if I read this right it would be 4 hours a day, 3 days a week so a total of 12 hours. My concern is creep – the oh can you watch him while I shop, or work overtime, or…. Can you just stay until time to pick up Carmine? Nothing you can do until it happens except for thinking out a plan for how to respond. Creep is harder to deal with after it starts than to deal with it the very first time.

Katla – could you just pin a piece of fabric on to the headliner to cover the skylight, so it was not so bright?

Heather - Ouch!!! take care of it!

For about a month I have been trying to put 2-3 hours of work in my yard every day – we have had unseasonably warm weather, so I am trying to take advantage of it. And it is really showing, the yard is more cleaned up/trimmed then it ever is in February!

Which is great as I have a couple of bigger projects I want to take on, and this may be the year. My on-going yard plan is to have the front yard be low water but full of plants/flowers. I have not watered in 5 years and in my climate there is no rain from May to October. I do have 6 pots that I do water, but that’s it. I have 4 inches of bark around every plant, and all the paths are flagstone.

There are dozens of daffodils, snow drops, bluebells, iris, and California blue eyed grass – all bulbs. They die back in May-June and then the saliva’s have the yard to fill with color. Red/white hot lips, purple and white Mexican sage, orange and yellow lions mane, and in the center of it all is a plumbago that is sky blue!

The back is grass, and veggie garden, with Peach, Lemon and pomegranate trees, Olallieberry and grape vines. I have started tomatoes, eggplant (aubergine) and peppers in the green house. I think I will put another round of peppers in as not as many came up as I had hoped. The seed is aging and not all are viable. In another month I’ll put in zucchini (1)(( courgettes)), acorn and butternut squash, snow peas (mangetout), carrots, chard, basil and a row of beets (beet root) I also want to try some lettuce or spinach, I have not had luck with those in the past, but I am hoping! I also saw my first asparagus of the season today

Thinking of you all, and hoping for a happy healthy day
    Smiles Kim in N. California

I will be going up to mom's next weekend to start working in her green house. Hoping it goes better than last year. She has said she doesn't want to plant as much- too many plants never got planted so wasted seeds. She wants to plant at most, half of what we did last year of the tomatoes and a LOT less of the cherry tomatoes- too many rotted on the vines.
I love helping plant. I just hope she remembers to water the main garden after putting in all those hours of planting seeds- last year three weeks after I had spent so many hours planting, went up and they had not been watered yet.
Dad has a list that tells how many years each kind of seed is good for. We do try and see if they will grow if they are past that but I think some were too far past last time(plus not being watered, really bad potting soil mom had delivered, etc)
We can't plant out in the garden until May first- usually try for that date- because of frost.
I can plant at my place before that but have to wait for the plants to get big enough.
I plant a little of everything but everything is in pots or raised beds here.
No matter where I have lived over the years(moved around when former hubby was in the Coast Guard) I always had a little garden. I HAVE to have fresh tomatoes and cucumbers.

Barbara — In our previous house I planted a vegetable garden each year. I planted one zucchini, and did it ever grow plentiful and huge. I sneaked around in the early mornings and dropped zucchini off on neighbor’s front doors. I don’t grow zucchini any more.
