Allie — In a lifetime when our kids were still in Middle School our daughter fell into our chest freezer wearing only her towel. DH & I were both off to our jobs. Luckily our daughter got out of the thing. We cleaned it out after work and dragged the empty beast to the curb. Somebody took it, and good for them. We replaced it with two upright freezers. There have been no problems with freezers and nobody has fallen into one in our home since that day. 😇

Good morning all! Happy Saturday! The weather has turned again, and we are back to cold(er) winter temps (30s and 40s).
Heather- So glad DH is coming around. My DH and I have the same type of disagreements/issues. Where one of us is triggered (usually my DH) by something the other (usually me) says. It is like walking on eggshells for a while. Your waterfront area looks so nice! I love the little cabanas on the left! Also, your views on wellness as a whole are spot on. So much goes into "good health" and most of it are things we don't really think about how it affects us.
Machka- I don't really count my crafting with the kids. Although, I do think I have a creative mind that way; it is not entirely enjoyable when I am doing it, because it is for my job. I have often thought it would be fun to be a children's party planner. Not in the sense of color coordinating deco, or cakes, etc. Just come up with crazy things to do for parties. I have a lot of ideas that I can't make happen due to space/proper setting. I do like to write/journal about my job, as well.

I have been reading up on the vagus nerve and it's function/development for adults and children. It is funny; for so many years, I worried about my DH being around my childcare kiddos due to his poor immune system and how germy and in your face kids tend to be. Science is finding that interaction with small children can stimulate the vagus system and boost your immune system and gut health! It will also help keep your brain active. Even if you are simply holding a child and rocking and humming! It also lists things that help children develop a healthy vagus system; mouthing things, singing, humming, gargling liquids, cross body movement, spinning... Some of these things, adults try to stop children from doing (for instance, mouthing things and pacifiers); and these are the things that babies/children need to have a really healthy vagus system. Eye opening!

Anyway, the weekend is here and I am off to get my shopping done and errands run. I have paperwork to do and a couple of emails to write. Then my normal weekend cleaning/cooking. So, somewhat busy; but nothing really pressing from the "real world". lol Love and hugs to all of you, ladies! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Kelly- have you found over the years that you tend to only get sick/catch something from the daycare kids when you have a new one come into the group. Seems like that happened to me when I had the bigger group. After a year of them being there all the time, never caught anything from them. It seemed to be the first year they were here.

Heather- glad things are back to "normal" with you and hubby. Maybe I need to speak up to mine, getting him thinking about what he is saying. Would be nice to have him talk TO me and not AT me.

Rita- HUGS- I totally get it- other peoples choices but we have to deal with them(more than they are dealing with them)

Going to spend today doing some prep work for tomorrow- mostly cutting up a lot of fruit. Stores had great deals on all kinds of fruit- kiwi, mango, pineapple, papaya, strawberries, grapes.
Going to try a new cake recipe- super simple. Just angel food cake mix and a can of crushed pineapple- mix the two together and bake- Pulled out my bunny cake pan to use(not a non-stick pan so hope it doesn't stick too much).
Need to make deviled eggs today, mac and cheese (so I can just warm it up tomorrow).
Meat will be either salmon or ham. If son won't be home tonight to have the salmon dh picked up yesterday, we will do that tomorrow and save the ham for another day.
Sending dh back to the store he works at to get the asparagus that is on sale. Hopefully they have some. If not, the veggie tomorrow will be steamed broccoli.

Raining this morning- good time to stay in and get some baking done. May make some brownies beings the oven will be hot and everyone loves them, plus, not sure how this cake will come out.

Rebecca— DH & I are both coffee lovers. He likes it black and I sweeten mine with stevia. We’re both happy with our choices. Now and then I like peppermint tea. It is a wonderful alternative for coffee. ❤️

Rebecca ... Bravo! You handled that situation perfectly! <3

Heather ... I agree wholeheartedly that DIET is more than food. Within the IF group that I frequent DIET is referenced as Did.I.Enrich.Today? We are and can be so much more than the shape of our bodies and the food we put in our mouths. Looks like a beautiful day today in your neck of the woods.

MB ...Welcome! I and several others use intermittent fasting as part of our lifestyles. When I make good food choices, along with the restricted time eating, I do very well and have lost weight. I'm pretty much at a standstill at the moment with weight loss, but I have a lot of chaos in my life right now too so I consider not gaining a win.

Lanette ... those Peeps had me laughing ... I so appreciate your sense of humor!

It was snowing heavily this morning ... huge fat fluffy flakes the size of golf balls that landed but didn't stick around. I would have appreciated it more if it had been December. My husband and I volunteered at an Easter Egg Hunt our church sponsored this morning. It was to be outside but that snow was preceded by heavy rainfall, so it was moved indoors ... which turned it into an "Easter Egg Grab" as there was nowhere to really hide the eggs.

Harrumph. I weighed myself and I'm slowly gaining back to my all time high when I started MFP. I need to rededicate myself to the weight loss lifestyle. And find something to do with my time other than wait for the next meal.

I was going to bake a cake today for Easter but maybe not. That's the last thing we need in this house.

Hi. I'm late to the April Party, but committed to give the last two weeks of the month my all.

Going to give Intermittent fasting a try to get control of my cravings, especially my nighttime munchies.
Also committed to begin moving A LOT More.

I hope you are all having a great month so far.

Welcome! I too am an IF'er and do an OMAD with a pre snack and post treat. I do a 21/3 schedule. As long as I don't yak about fasting to much, all these ladies accept it all.💖👍. My meals are still very healthy, and I post food porn photos every now and then.🙃. If you wish to friend me, we can be fasting buddies!

Awesome! I wished husband was a coffee drinker, but he loves his tea. He has about 3 cups a day, with sugar. He used to put in gobs of sugar, like a hummingbird, but has cut back over the years. He drank it that sweet to keep him up during long watches in the Navy. I have bought a strong coffee, so it tastes good with the sweet cream creamer I bought.

Thanks, it felt good to resolve it a bit, telling him that I had such low esteem and let myself to be used. He apologized for lying to my husband, for everything.
I took the texting session as a sign moving forward. No longer am that person.💖👍

    B) That is quite a generalization. I love hot stuff and that flavor would appeal to me much more than the sweet stuff.

Got both desserts done, some of the fruit cut(will do the rest tomorrow so it doesn't turn brown) and got the deviled eggs done.
LOVE the trick I figured out a few years ago when doing the eggs. I put the yolk, mayo, etc all in a Ziploc bag. Seal and squish and squish. When it is all creamy, cut the corner of the bag to use as a piping bag to fill the eggs. Toss when you are done- no yucky eggy dishes to wash afterwards.
Cooked the salmon but son was asleep long before that so he can have it later if he wakes up tonight or he and his girlfriend can have it tomorrow. He had to leave here at 4:30AM to go to work after he and the girlfriend were up about midnight eating pizza they had baked. Was thrilled to hear him leave for work on time.
No one works tomorrow so hopefully I can sleep a bit better. He is super quiet. Dh, well, not so much. I hear him get up(alarm goes off at 1AM and he lays there for half an hour, sleeping-sometimes I can just go right back to sleep, other times I don't, then he leaves here at 1:50AM) , I then hear him come in at 6-7AM and off and on because he keeps coming in the bedroom, never quiet.Usually griping about work or something. Yesterday it was work, this morning it was a package FedEx said they delivered yesterday but it was not dropped off at our house. Sure he was getting ripped off again, EBay didn't want to help, FedEx told him the name who signed for the package(NOT anyone who lives here)but not the address it was delivered to.) Nice way to get woken up- Not even a "good morning" - just started out ranting.
And now, sorry, I am ranting here ;(

Having some of them Sweet and Spicy tea and will go to bed early, hopefully get more sleep.

Going to church for the first time in a really long time. Not sure if I am going alone or if dh is going. Will be odd going back- will wear my mask even though basically no one else does, they haven't during this whole thing, even when it was mandatory in our county.

    Have a wonderful Easter.

Well today was a success. Granted its only 7:28 pm and I want to attack the pantry, but I will stick to it! I ate well today, my fish tacos so yummy. I was surprised when I made my coleslaw at 9am, I did not taste it. In the past I would automatically. Just have to trust my instincts about the measurements, not like I measue. Just mayo, apple cider vinegar, salt, sugar, dill seed, pepper and a spoonful of relish. Then just a couple handfuls of the pre cut cabbage. I like that because I don't have to cut nothing, adding it to stews, soups etc. I have yet to find it turning funky (I eat it most every meal prep)!

Speaking of peeps – do you know what I saw in WalMart the other day? Coffee flavored peeps! You won’t believe how many displays they had of them. But there was one TINY display of chocolate pudding flavored peeps the other day. When we went to WalMart yesterday, there were still lots of the coffee peeps but none of the chocolate pudding flavored ones. I know WalMart doesn’t like selling candy 50% off the day after a holiday, but I have a feeling a lot of these coffee ones will still be there. They also had flaming hot peeps but they were all gone. I guess they appealed to the Hispanic

    Michele NC

I had to look up Peeps online to see what they were.

The flaming hot ones are "fierce cinnamon" ... yummy!!

And I'd go for the coffee ones as my first choice.

Those two flavours appeal to me more than the other flavours I see listed on their website.
