π» Hello, ladies, and welcome to April!π»
π»The weather is changing, and we're changing with it! What are your goals for this month and the spring overall?
π»We've just finished off the first three months of 2022. How did it go? Are you excited about your progress, worried about the lack of it, or just happy to be maintaining?
π¨If you've never been here before, please know you are welcome to join at any point in the month. All you have to do is post something, and then BAM!, you're one of us.
π¨In this group, we post our weekly and monthly goals and provide support and motivation to each other as we share our triumphs and our struggles. This group is all about accountability.
π¨All are welcome, and if you think you belong here, you do! No matter how much you currently weigh or how you measure (or don't measure) your weight, we'd love to hear from you.
π¨Victories, both scale and non-scale, are great to hear about, but, conversely, we know that weight loss isn't all sunshine and roses. If you're going through a rough patch, please feel free to be honest and vent your heart out. The struggle is real and we're all here to support each other!
π»This April, let's astound and astonish ourselves with everything we can accomplish!!!π»

Yeay to another month. Welcome everyone β€οΈ I'm Roz. I love this place by @RavenStCloud thank you again. I've been here off and on since middle of last year, I think!
Time to get serious this month for me. I have a long way to go but I'm breaking it down into small goals. I can't believe it's April already!
Hope to hear from you all9 -
Good morning everyone, and happy April!
As always, thank you @RavenStCloud for starting this thread. I so appreciate it.
April is my diet break month! It's going to start somewhere between April 7th and 9th, and go until April 16th or 17th. So I don't want to set my sights too high this month, it's all about good habit building and working on a lifelong maintenance mindset. That said, I'd love to see the 180s this month, but if I don't, hey, I should have gotten closer and gotten stronger in the gym.
Let's kick it off with goals:

I'll be gone from home for an entire week for Easter, traveling to see family and celebrate my nephew's first birthday! Which is fun, but is also...stressful. I'll keep going to the gym, making smart food decisions, and doing my best. I've done this successfully at Christmas so there's no reason I shouldn't do this successfully again.

I will take a 2 week diet break starting this Easter, April 17, 2022. *in an announcerβs voice* a 24/7 trip of a FULL four..teen.. days in.....*holds pause for drama* Easter... Caloric... Maintenance!!! ***I scream "Yes!! Yes!!" and jump up and down enthusiastically, as if I won some sort of all paid vacation***
I am looking forward to this!! Exercise + maintenance calories, all weighed out super yums, while meeting good nutrition. Since I have an overweight BMI I get to take diet breaks more regularly now!! *Whew* definitely good news. It is like rewarding myself with maintenance, and more energy. I can tell my body is full on stressing, and I donβt think it is all because of the Unicorn Slaughter of 2022, although most of it might be that. I think some of it has been the long-term caloric deficit.
βIn the "Women's Book" Lyle McDonald recommends women with a normal BMI to take a diet break every 6-10 weeks. A diet break should at minimum be one week, but two can be good, especially if you have been feeling a lot of diet fatigue, or if you want to start up again at a particular time in your cycle.
For those curious, he recommends dieting obese women to take a diet beak every 14-18 weeks, overweight women every 10-14 weeks, and normal BMI every 6-10 weeks.β
When I started this journey of losing weight, one of my absolute goals was to try to keep as much good health as possible. I had so little to begin with, I didnβt want to have worse health after losing weight. I know that if you are looking at 100+ lbs that dieting can be stressful on the body long term. But if you are careful - you can mitigate the body stress. Thereby, keeping as much energy and good health as possible. I donβt want to cross the finish line of losing weight to be bedridden because I refused to be sensible. I have had my years of being bedridden, and while they might come back randomly for no good reason, I wouldnβt like to place myself in that position on purpose! Also, if it does happen again, and I do end up bedridden for long periods of time - this time I KNOW what my bedridden caloric intake should be - so I donβt have to worry about gaining so much weight just because I am physically compromised. In this case, knowledge makes all the difference!
Here is to a beautiful, fruitful, happy, sustainable April!! Come on ladies we can do this!!

I am coming up on a year since I bought a scale and weighed myself for the first time in a LONG time. Although I realized I needed to lose weight, I still wasn't ready mentally to start the process until July, but I am so proud of the progress I have made since then! My weight goal this month is a bit of a stretch, but if I make it I will officially be out of the obese BMI range and into "overweight"; I started in class 3 obese! I am slightly tweaking my non-weight goals for the next few months in consideration of having to move & all the stress/adjustments that come with it. My check-in days are Saturdays.
Goals for April
- Meet protein goal at least 3x weekly (or avg weekly at goal)
- Meet fiber goal at least 3x weekly (or avg weekly at goal)

- Take a day of self-care: Day off work, massage, and manicure/pedicure6 -

I kind of fell into lurking the March thread - I was reading, just not posting much. Seems like most of us have had a pretty decent start to Spring, so let's keep it going! And if you got a bit derailed with the season or time change, welcome back

GW for April: Weigh less than my husband by 4/30
GW for 2022: 145
My husband weighs in the low-to-mid 180s these days, and he's trying to gain (he's lost 5-10lb since surgery but most of that has unfortunately been muscle), so I'm optimistic that we'll pass each other going opposite ways on the scale this month, or come close to doing that. I don't think I've ever been lighter than he is. I might have been, for a little while (like literally a couple of months), the last time I was at my lowest weight, but I'm not sure what he weighed at that time. I do remember that he was strong enough and/or I was light enough that he picked me up and spun me around when we reunited at the airport after my semester abroad in college (and in doing so he charmed the absolute pants off my parents, who were also there - not their first meeting, but an early one).9 -
@goal06082021 That is an exciting NSV!! You can do it!!
@lmgoff232 You have been doing amazing! I hope the move goes well. ((by the way, all this time I thought your name was imgoff, as in I'ma bout to go off ya'll! lols - so you are way less upset than I originally gathered from your name))
@bonniemcc4 You are doing great, and I hope that the talk therapy is very, very helpful for you (((hugs)))
@_manny_702 Doing wonderful!
@seltzer_lover Have a bunch of good times with your 1 yo nephew!! How precious, I love Easter with the little little ones. Especially when you try to do the Easter egg thing and they are just like "what is happening right now.. egg?" lols
@CupcakeCrusoe Lifting weights, and keeping it strong! Wonderful goals! You got this!
@roz0810 Roz, hope you have a wonderful, habit building, small goals met month!6 -
Thanks @RavenStCloud for yet another month of accountability!
And boy do I need it! I did not make the best choices in March so I'm looking to get back on track a bit. Does not help that I have been struck by some sort of stomach bug, uggggh. So today's weigh in is probably not accurate.

Also, Happy April Fools Day! Unfortunately for me, the hubby is out of town... so no pranking for me. Which is sad because in our 27 years I have been quite creative and have had good times without super vengey repercussions (due to the non-mean scope I try to keep the pranks on). So here is pic from my feed from a lady who did this for April Fools, enjoy:

@RavenStCloud thank you again for this thread!
I feel like I went down a dark hole in January and tried to come out a few times but kept falling down.
April gives me a fresh start AGAIN!
I have a Doctor's appointment at the end of the month and really would like to be 190 or under so that's what I'm working for. It's a big goal but I want to get as close as possible.
Thank you so much to everyone on here. YOU truly are a huge inspiration to me and I'm in awe of your strength and motivation!!

Good morning everyone!
I feel terrible. Sick day time, I guess. Ovulation's coming, so I'm not worried about an uptick in weight. I certainly haven't eaten enough to gain.
Tag time!
@seltzer_lover you've got this.
@_manny_702 increasing muscle mass while in a deficit is close to impossible, especially if you're really aiming for 10 lbs this month, but you can totally retain the muscle you have, if you eat sufficient protein!
@bonniemcc excellent goals!
@justanotherloser007 very excited for your maintenance period!
@lmgoff232 WOOOO your goals look great, and it will be so cool to change weight class!
@goal06082021 I love this idea. I'll be passing my husband in another 10 lbs or so.
@danikat15 I hope you feel better soon!

Yesπ I plan on being a protein junky this month, cut down on my cardio, and doing strength training a few days a week. I'm hopeful and if I can't increase my mass at least I'm doing something to keep what I have right π. I'm sorry you are sick, with one of our kids in school it's like we all catch something every month. I hope you feel better soon!4 -

I had a fantastic date last night! Lots of drinking and dancing, easy conversation, and so much fun. And he is actually taller than me, even when I am wearing heels, which is something that almost never happens! Going out again with a friend/coworker tonight in SF so it will be another night of non-nutritional calories, lol. I am sure my weight will bounce back up after I hydrate, but it's all good. I really, really need the fun this weekend to de-stress and get my mind off everything.
@justanotherloser007 you made me laugh. I wish I was creative enough to come up with something witty for my user name, but that is a skill I lack, lol.

All right, off to a good start! I woke up with my period this morning - I was JUST talking yesterday about dreading the day it takes me by surprise since my cycle length seems to be a little longer than typical, and lo and effing behold. Feel like I summoned her or something, IDK. It's also like, three weeks early?? but I know things get weird after dramatic weight loss, so I'm not too worried yet. I'm also hopeful for a whoosh in the next week or so. Come on hormones, do ya thang.
I decided I wanted to try another salad from a local "healthy food" place this weekend - Hubs and I checked it out last weekend and it was awesome. They have like a dozen different salads that can also be served as wraps, they also do smoothies/smoothie bowls, avocado toast, pressed juices, the whole nine. I walked there to get my cardio in while I was at it, about 7 miles winding through a residential district (I realized after I got home that there is another franchise location right next to my gym, LMAO, considerably closer to home). I got a curry chicken salad wrap and it was perfect - hearty and filling, and cold, which was nice after walking around in the bright sun and heat for two hours. Curried chicken salad with lettuce, shredded bell pepper/carrots/cabbage, diced cucumber, wrapped in a spinach tortilla and served with a ginger-sesame vinaigrette.6 -
Good morning to all. 1lb down on the scale this morning. Daily weighing for now helps me keep track of my days but I'd eventually like to stick to Thursdays weekly in the coming months.7
-
Good morning everyone!
I'm feeling much better this morning, all thanks to doing absolutely nothing but scrolling my phone yesterday, taking dayquil/nyquil, eating spicy ramen, and drinking lots of tea. That's not true, I did make some really great spaghetti yesterday evening, and I had a little- I'm learning the "right" way to make pasta through a youtube series called "Pasta Grannies." I didn't make my spaghetti from scratch, but there are plenty of little tricks I am putting in my box.
Today I'm still going to take it easy, although I'm going to do more than yesterday (low bar, ), and try to eat closer to normally, since my throat is only a mild nuisance today and my sinuses have cleared up.
I saw 192.4 again on the scale this morning!? I'm going to bring back a classic for this state of affairs (which I'm not at all mad at).
Maybe my ovulation day was yesterday?? Idk, usually I see an increase for 2-3 days, high on ovulation day, then whoosh back to pre-ovulation weight after. Eh. I'll certainly take it.
Tag party!
@_manny_702 I call my kids "my little petri dishes" sometimes. One day they'll be old enough to get it, and then I'll be in trouble, haha.
@jazzadesigns Sometimes it's nice to set a small goal when you know a bigger goal would definitely be out of reach. I like it.
@cowgirlslikeus86 I love the little bikinis! 7 lbs in a month in the 180s is a lot for your height, but shoot for the moon, land on a star, as they say.
@lmgoff232 YAY FOR A GREAT DATE! Not enough people go dancing these days, I love this. I'm glad to hear you're out having a good time after all the stress you've been under.
@goal06082021 that wrap sounds SO GOOD. Is it a local chain, or a national one? Inquiring curry lovers want to know!
@roz0810 Good morning good morning! If weighing daily stresses you out, I totally get it. For weighing weekly, you just have to keep in mind that you might see a momentary high weight based on lots of things, but you might actually still be losing, so patience is needed, along with the knowledge that if you're doing everything right, you're not gaining. When I weighed weekly, it actually stressed me out more than weighing daily, but people are different.
Alright, I'm off to do... something. And then I think I'll make an egg white wrap for breakfast. Yum. Have a great day, everyone!

Forgot my ticker. Also @CupcakeCrusoe you mentioned that 7 lbs was a lot this month. I was kinda feeling that way too but I just put a weight that sounded good lol! IDK. Usually I set the bar low so I exceed my expectations. Hazards of being an Enneagram 3. π I just thought since I have 5 weigh-ins in April, thatβs like a little over 1.25 lbs a weekβ¦β¦.I just realized I did my math wrong. Hmmmβ¦Iβm gonna change it to 177. Thanks for pointing that out!
In other news, still alcohol free! Itβs been about 2.5 months since I drank. Gonna have a prime rib and wine one night soon with my new beau. I started dating again and might have found a really good man. We will see because only time will tell.
Oh, I have also had to go shopping recently because a lot of my clothing is just too big anymore. My underwear are too big, my favorite belt is too big. All great problem to have. Also havenβt worn heels in several years except for black tie events. When I was shopping the other day I found five pairs of stilettos and I couldnβt make up my mind so I bought them all :-)

@roz0810 I know exactly what you mean about weighing. Friday's weigh in I was back way up. Yesterday I knew I did everything right so I decided to weigh this morning. Down 1.6. I needed that reassurance that I did well. I hate the fear of weighing. Especially when I know I worked hard the day before. I'm going to try and wait until my Friday weigh-in now. Time will tell.π
@CupcakeCrusoe so glad you're feeling better today!!! And still cooking when you're not feeling well. You're a better woman than me! π
@cowgirlslikeus86 those shoes are beautiful! Good for you on everything being too big too wear anymore! That's awesome!!!
@osier5 down 9.4 since January! ππππ that's fantastic!!!5 -
@CupcakeCrusoe it's a local chain unfortunately, so in the interest of not doxxing myself I won't share the name, but I would compare it to Nature's Table, if you have one of those near you.
@cowgirlslikeus86 congrats on shrinking out of your whole wardrobe LMAO, i'm having a similar problem. I overhauled my closet at the beginning of the year, and actually just bought some more new clothes today. TJ Maxx/Marshall's/Ross/outlet stores FTW!
@DanaRenee518 I weighed weekly until I got to Onederland and then started weighing daily, the idea being that I could more clearly see how I fluctuate day-to-day - it's been kind of like exposure therapy, like the emotional hit (positive or negative) from seeing the number has lessened considerably since I started doing it. It's all just data, you know?5 -

Goal for April: 200? Is six pounds in a month doable?
I tend to build muscle very quickly, so it can mess with my weight totals. Iβll be happy with a general downward trend.
I joined in March, and lost about 9 pounds that month. Iβm doing lower carbs, less calories, and generally more movement. I know that the next month, April, will be a bit slower, especially since weβre in the middle of a major kitchen renovation!
Iβm going to try to get very creative to still eat healthy with a construction zone for a kitchen this month.
Luckily Iβm getting a ton of exercise every weekend hauling demo materials out to the dumpster all day. π

I just moved to Taipei, Taiwan from Maryland. Between the stress of quarintine and my inadequate language skills I've dropped 15 pounds in 3 weeks. I know thats unhealthy and am attempting to be more mindful moving forward. I would like to continue to walk 2 mi daily and eat smaller portions.

Yes I totally understand what you both mean about! When I weighed in weekly before I normally always saw a loss but I understand I could possibly see a gain which wasn't a real gain so it's off putting. I'll stick to daily for now7 -
Good morning!
Lost my comment, oops. T-minus 4 days to Spring Break, starting loratidine instead of centirizine because I read a study that centirizine increases appetite, so we'll see if it works as well, started collagen peptides at a half dose inspired by @lmgoff232, feeling better, put together a rolling kitchen island thing yesterday.
Whew. Okay. Tag party!
@cowgirlslikeus86 new beau, new shoes, 2.5 months alcohol free! Killing the game!
@osier5 I loved 5ks the most of any distance. Just hard enough.
@DanaRenee518 I'm really bad at resting and just sitting still, lol. It probably keeps me sicker/more run down. Oh well.
@goal06082021 I'll look for those, thanks!
@KatieHall77 I think it's doable! Kitchen reno, ugh. So disruptive for your life. Hopefully a great end, though!
@syrenzcall hi, welcome! Sounds like you have taken the stress of an international move in stride, after some initial adjustment, good for you.
@roz0810 good morning! Making good progress!
Have a great day, everyone!
