Good morning everyone!
First day of vacation, I am well rested and ready to get going. I need to make a to-do list, so I don't waste (too much) time at the beginning of this week.
What I'm learning about eating close to maintenance calories: it's easy to find carb-based, empty calorie things to bump up calories (someone at work brought in donuts! That bag of honey mustard pretzels is HOW many calories?!) , it's hard to balance macros while eating very palatable food. If I want to get food from a restaurant, guaranteed it's not high protein the way it would be if I made it (because I would load up on the protein source, at home). And if I don't get sufficient protein, it doesn't have that "ooh, yeah, I'm full" effect. I kind of still feel snacky, even if I'm not hungry, if that makes sense. Satiation. So, this week will be an interesting learning experience.
Anyway! My weight calmed down a bit- 192.2 this morning, huzzah.
Tag party time!
@porquenoirl oooh, a half mile swim! And archery! I like it! That sounds so fun.
@hap2go sounds like a fun weekend plan! I've always wanted to be someone who Plays Tennis, lol.
@danikat15 look at you in your nice sweater! NSV!
@Generic_Excuse definitely, that's the spirit. Improvement. I know my doctor talks about getting sufficient potassium, so eat more bananas? lol
@justanotherloser007 seamstresses are the nicest people I've ever met, I swear. My local works at a dry cleaner, and she's always so nice.
@kenziestabes I have a feeling I should do the same- my shirt size is always dictated by my boobs and shoulders. If I tailored more of my clothes, I would look better in them.
@bonniemcc4
Have a great weekend, everyone!

It was a long week. My friend ended up cancelling on me last Saturday night, so I stayed home and slept. Ended up going for an amazing hike on Sunday with the date from Friday night and had a great time again No red flags yet, so cautiously optimistic to see where this goes. This weekend the kids and I are planning a bike ride, and then looking at a few houses. I really hope to find something that will work soon!
I really need to get over my aversion to in-person shopping that has hit me since covid. I ordered some jeans in the next size down (14!), the first new clothes I have bought since starting this journey. Seems I am in the fun stage where my current jeans are a little too big (have to keep pulling them up), but the size down are still a bit too snug to be comfortable, and I have a horrible muffin top and would likely flash crack when sitting down. I think I am actually going to have to send them back, because even when I lose a few more pounds, the fit it just all kinds of wrong for my body shape. So if anyone has suggestions for (bootcut) jeans with a 34" inseam that will fit a more generous booty, please let me know! The ones I used to buy seem to no longer be available 😞
Great job all! Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
@CupcakeCrusoe enjoy your break! My kiddos don't break until the 16th, but they will be spending the week with their dad. I am soooo looking forward to the break 😀

Okay! We're moving in the right direction, at the expected pace. I can vibe with this.
Saturday is Big Cardio Day, so I went to a nearby park-type area and walked along their extensive trail system for about 2 1/2 hours. The weather is perfect today - sunny but not too hot. I saw half a dozen gopher tortoises (including one I accidentally snuck up on, who quickly scooted into his little burrow to hide - sorry lil guy!), and encountered some dogs on the trail at one point! So, you know, it's been a pretty good day.
Hubs has a gig tonight at some hoity-toity country club, hopefully there'll be a few more folks around to hear the music than there were last time the band played there. I scrolled back through my diary and found the entry for that night, I think I'll just plan to get the same thing again for dinner (1/2 buffalo chicken wrap and fries, split with hubs).7 -

🌻 April GOALS! 🌻- restart logging
- restart exercise
- Lift weights 1-2 x week
- Plan and make healthy meals at home
- Up NEAT (daily activity level)
I weigh myself daily and record my losses here hopefully weekly or more often.
4/9/2022: 251
Well this may not be much of a loss but then it hasn’t been a whole week. However I realized I should check in on what my weight was on MFP when I had last posted and I have lost since then even without logging, having serious health issues to deal with and working full time.
What I think I need to do is get a handle on how many calories I have been eating without logging and losing slowly so I can set a realistic calorie goal with a little more deficit to make the weight loss more consistent and not quite so slow. I think the one I had when I was logging before was too low since I went way over it Friday and still lost a bit of weight this morning. I set it up a bit but really I just want to see what calories I typically eat.
I think I want to focus on upping exercise. I did do that this week but I want to do some everyday even if it is for only 20 minutes. However I didn’t get around to any strength/weight training. I also want to up NEAT and I did that too this week. I planned meals this week and that meant grocery shopping and cooking. Also I had errands that I usually never got to when I was working fulltime.
I started a bullet journal and that is helping me track a lot of self-care and to get things done that I want to get done. There were a lot of things to get to now that I am not working. Last week it was finally getting to our taxes. We usually turn it in earlier. There will also be helping more with my 95 y.o. mother.
@porquenoirl Congrats on the new job. I lose at 1st at new jobs then I start to gain. I was able to turn that around though and slowly lose. I usually lose best when not working full time. Hope this job goes well for you. Nice progress too on your early weigh-in.
@hap2go sorry about your Dad but glad you are taking care of yourself by getting those walks in.
@CupcakeCrusoe I set up a spreadsheet too but haven’t used it this past year due to the health issue. I might get it going again now that I have some time off work. I like yours it is simpler than mine. I hope you enjoy your spring break. I believe in diet breaks.
@goal06082021 Nice NSV with the pencil skirt!
@sbortnick When I was reading your post about a plateau I said to myself take a break and then saw you did. I identify with your post since I stopped logging too for other reasons. I kept track with the scale and found I was losing very slowly. I haven’t lost much this week but I realized I needed to update my weight on MFP and I had lost since the last time I was on here. I also upped my calories to 1700 on here since I realized I have been losing while eating more than what I had set it last time on here. I also think that my focus now should be on exercise.
@tahitig That is a great way to start April in Onderland!
@kenziestabes yes I get how frustrating it gets when what you want to wear isn’t what the stores want to sell. It is really hard to transition in and out of the pandemic.
@justanotherloser007 I like wearing skirts too.
@danikat15 nice NSV with the sweater!

Good evening ladies,
Age: 39
Height: 5’8”
Current weight: 208
Goal for April: 199
Ultimate goal: 150
This week was a setback for me, unfortunately. After being down to 206, I’m back up to 208. Could be because of TOM, but TOM comes every other week now, has been like that for over a year. Twice every month! Very weird. I assume it’s because I’m getting into perimenopause… Does anyone else in their 40’s experience something like that? My doctor wasn’t overly concerned, but she said if it gets worse to call her. I googled it, and came up with all kinds of scary possibilities 😨 like uterine cancer! I do not think that is it, but I forgot the #1 rule, never Google your medical symptoms!
My goal this month is to get more physical activity in, and a big kitchen renovation is helping with that! I helped demo countertops today and got all my steps in before noon. I love doing this kind of work, it’s so different than teaching. I can’t wait to see the finished kitchen. I also keep livestock and they help me get exercise while caring for them every day.
I’m also thinking about getting a thyroid test done, since I have body temperature and weight symptoms, combined with such weird period issues. I do have a family history with thyroid issues, it would be nice to eliminate that one possibility.
Good luck everyone! Have a great week!5 -
Hey All,
Hope you’ve had a good week so far.
Age: 44yrs young!!! 😉 (45 now, had a birthday this week!)
Height: 5’3”
HW: 256 (May 2021)
4/1 - 228.8lbs
4/9 - 228.8lbs
Goals:
* Walk every day
* Start cycling min 2x’s week
* Log every day
* Go into May 224lbs or less
Happy with the scales not morning, could of been worse. Was a week of birthday brunches, take outs, meals out etc…
Getting a lot of walks in clearly helped.
Did not hit any of my weekly goals but onto a new week. I really want to get cycling in, even if it’s just 20 minutes each time 🤞
Going to throw a couple of protein bars into my bag and car as I got caught out once this week and ended up with a drive tho’ 🤦♀️
Onwards and upwards, loving the motivation and support here. Have an amazing week all4 -
Good morning everyone!
I painted one whole room start to finish yesterday, today it's time to work on the built ins, go grocery shopping, and see if a new butcher a little closer to us will work out.
Also- it happened to me, I got a whoosh while upping my calories. 190.6! I only would have lost water weight, but it's nice to know that 191.8 wasn't my lowest going into this diet break. It is now perfectly possible that I can see the 180's this month.
I'm revving my engine, ready to get started. I've been thinking about this room redecoration for months. So tag party time!
@jazzadesigns Loss is loss, and keeping on is keeping on.
@RBnorth66 looks like great goals to me! Welcome!
@lmgoff232 hang in there! It's coming! I similarly can't buy jeans without trying them on anymore. Sizing is too weird.
@goal06082021 your hike sounded very relaxing and nice! And your plan for dinner makes sense. I love not having to cook, and hate logging food when other people do. Catch 22.
@KeriA your goals make sense. It is good to know where you are before you change to try to get somewhere else. I found the spreadsheet really helps with that- helped me tune in more to how what I ate affected my progress, and whether it WAS too fast or too slow for me. Something to consider, to restart your spreadsheet.
@_manny_702 look at that thing go!
@KatieHall77 I know @justanotherloser007 is going through perimenopause, y'all should join forces to trade tips, haha. I like that not googling medical symptoms is a rule of yours, and I hope everything gets sorted, or you at least understand it better. On the bright side, demo-ing a kitchen sounds like a blast. Hit it with a sledgehammer once for me!
@77topcat the protein bars in the car/in my bag has saved me more than once. You got this.
Have a great Sunday, everyone!5 -

My weigh in day is Sunday.

Morning all. I've been off track a few days. Scales aren't happy but I know it's water weight too so I'm hoping it will be back down soon. Continuing fasting 18:6 and some days 20:4. Have a good week all.6

Hey all, just in to say a quick hi after the weekend. I'm def up a few lbs but I got to see family and friends, so I'm really not too bothered and I'd say I'll get that down in the next couple of weeks again.
I did a slightly faster walk-jog on Sat, dropped my nephew off to his sports and then made use of their local forest, @goal06082021 I'm smiling reading your post, I spotted a baby stoat while in the forest, it was so cool, not an animal I'd see often. I just started tracking these walk-jogs last week so I'm hoping to push something each week once things feel good like distance/time/pace.
And we're starting our swimming lessons this evening, hoping it goes well!
Hope everyone has a great week!5 -
Good morning everyone!
Man, the lack of cortisol = body lets go of water retention is no joke. 190.2 today! Either that, or my lowballing my maintenance number means I'm in a slight deficit. But I'm having a good time and thoroughly enjoying what I'm eating, and I'm not hungry. My weekly report says I consumed 11574 cal for the week, which is only above my normal deficit weekly calorie number by 374. The real test of maintenance calories will be to see what they look like and what my weight does next Monday, after seven days of maintenance calories.
I made my protein brownies Saturday, and they sat on the counter. I never took one. Whatsisface ate two and asked me if I was feeling okay. I gave myself permission Saturday and Sunday to eat one if I wanted one, I just... didn't. The recipe is good though, I've had a piece of one while I was cutting them up to freeze this morning.
Yesterday, I took out the hand saws and sawed holes in my cube shelves so I can route cables through there, and started painting the ones that aren't white, white. You'll see it when I post pictures. I went grocery shopping, got some special local made ice cream, visited the butcher and got bibimbap for later this week... oh, and made my second trip to lowes in two days for mounting hardware and a hole saw attachment, lol. At dinner, we went to get Jamaican food at a local place, delicious, and we got drunk, so we watched Face/Off and had a long, winding discussion about nothing in the parking lot while Whatsisface sobered up. It was weird but fun, we had nowhere to be.
It was a good day! I'm enjoying my diet break and break from the kids. I feel productive and good about things. With any luck, I'll get all the shelves painted today, and hopefully mount the blocks on the wall to stabilize them when I go to mount them. But at least, they'll all be done being painted today. I think Whatsisface wants to go get a pedicure with me today, too....
Anyway! Tag party!
@swimmom_1 wow! That's so much time on the elliptical! Good for you!
@roz0810 back in the saddle again!
@porquenoirl all these forest walks sound lovely, maybe I'll find the time this week to do the same!
Have a great Monday, everyone!

I mostly met my goals for the week. I ate at least 3 servings of fruit and veggies and even got 4-5 servings every day except last Monday. I also met my fiber everyday except yesterday. It’s quite a bit harder with my brother cooking two meals in one day where there’s only 1-2 grams of fiber per meal 😬 but I did manage 20g for the day with fiber rich snacks. Got my progress photo taken and exercised twice. I tried to add my progress collage here but keep getting signed out every time I try.
Goals for the upcoming week:
🍎 Keep hitting 3-5 fruit & veggie goal each day
🧘🏼♀️ Exercise twice if I’m able to
🥦 Keep getting enough fiber each day
💊 Hopefully get my blood pressure med adjusted to the right dose at my appt (I’ve adjusted it myself since my dr never called me back)
👧 Have fun with my niece if she spends the night Friday (it’s been forever since we spent time together)4 -

Good morning! This week is going to be rough, it's spring break! With both kids home and not walking to and from school with them, I'll be missing 3,000-4,000 steps a day. We have a severe wind warning of 60mph today so no playing outside in that crap! I'll get on the treadmill at some point today . I hope you all have an amazing week!5 -
Good morning!
I totally forgot to weigh-in this morning, so that's delayed. I tweaked my back a little on Saturday so yesterday I was entirely, completely, deliciously lazy. Watched some Call the Midwife, worked on a puzzle for a bit, did some yoga/stretching, and foam rolled. It was glorious.
Back at it today with a workout this afternoon and I've booked my class times for my entire vacation. Able to stay on a fairly regular schedule, so that helps take the edge off. (Plus it's a little break from some intensive family-time. It's win-win. )5 -

Hello everyone!
YESSS!! The plateau has broken! Down 1.4 lbs this week! Progress!
SW: 253 lbs
CW: 231 lbs
GW: 150 lbs
Exercise goals:
Walk to work 3 days/week- Week 1: yes!
At least one Ringfit Adventure workout on days off. Week 1: Twice!
Try to stay at 1700 calories every day of April except Easter weekend with family (eat intuitively)- Week 1:Yes!
I had a thought in the shower this week about self care. So often society tells us that self care is something that takes money (buy yourself something, spa/salon services, exercise classes, ect). This was always a hindrance for me. I have two kids in daycare in one of the most expensive cities in the world. There is very little "me money". However, I have now been focusing on my personal health and now this is my definition of self care. It's taking time to notice changes in my body and doing something about it, positive or negative.
If I notice I have put on weight, I need to figure out why and use some of my mental energy on myself to take care of myself.
Did that meal make me feel like crap? Pay attention to it. Take more time to make a meal that makes me feel good.
I am always tired. Then ignore the "stuff" that needs to be done and rest. Recharge. Go to bed early.
It is not selfish to need time for yourself. You can't pour from an empty cup. I want to be around for a long time for my family. However, that means making sure those years are worth it! I don't want to be hanging back cause I'm "too big" or "out of shape" to do what the family is doing. Anyways, thanks for the mental dump. I've been too busy for therapy lately so I guess I'm getting my thoughts out here!
Have a great day everyone!8
