Lost 1.8 pounds last week, despite Memorial Day!

That was kinda, sorta the plan until the bottom fell out of the economy, Barbara. My director won't go up against our union for me, unfortunately. And we've lost a ridiculous amount of our retirement in the last year, so one or both of us have to continue to work and I hold the insurance, always have. THAT'S the huge issue. And it's really good insurance. So now it's wait and see what happens. Heading into the building next week to see what the office looks like and ........ who knows. Maybe it will be perfect and I'll feel better about it. I'm really, really trying to think positive.
HAPPY FRIDAY!

Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD, Awe Sea &Ski was good too..😁👍. Once when I and my classmates were on a field trip to Ka-Nee-Tah, I saw a lady lying by the pool, putting pats of butter on her tanned skin. It was an odd scent in the sun for certain!

Michele, oh man allergic to coconut??? I cover myself with the stuff, up my nose, in my eyeballs, my body just drinks it up!
My body is so pale now though, which its probably thanking me if it could. For a time when we were in CA I was just a brown berry. I would also frequent the tanning salons on the off months. I did like the tanning beds although they were deemed unsafe. Its just the warm to my bones feeling I miss, not the "lets have skin cancer" part.
Well it sure doesn't look like I'll be playing tennis this weekend, rain, rain! But things could improve for the better.
Not buying as much items at the grocery today, as most weeks, today. Going to just eat up what I have so far. I will be taking a train on 16th to 21st to middle son's family, then 21st to 28th be at my eldest sisters homestead. Just taking a bus back home. Its longer, but there isn't a train from Salem OR to Seattle WA. I'd have to switch trains and wait in Portland, OR. Plus there's the bus from Seattle WA to MT Vernon WA. Too many schedule segments! So taking a bit s from Salem to Seattle, then probably an hrs wait, then continue on to Mt Vernon. Easy peasy.
Went to the post office yesterday and spent $53 shipping a box to youngest sailor son overseas, and 2 boxes to my Gresham Historical Society. Sending them my years and a vinyl record of my All State choir.
Its a donation, and as much is online I will just make copies of all my photos I was in.
Sipping coffee before the commissary.💖👍

We have a cloudy sky and light rain. Staying home seems like a good idea today. We bought groceries yesterday and don’t have to go anywhere. 😊1

Tracey--Love your little gnome. Cute little guy.
Machka--Glad that you got your phone back. You have a lot going on, no wonder you had a meltdown. Sometimes it's the little things that add up to the meltdown. Take care of yourself.
Annie--Congradulations on your loss!!
Carla--Hugs! I understand about the insurance. I hole the insurance also and now with all the problems DH's having since the vaccaine changing isn't an option.
Heather-- Great to hear your family has landed and safe.
Well made it to the gym after work yesterday and plan to go again today. I am so glad it is Friday. One more week and we are on vacation. Not sure what our plans are as I have jury duty, but they texted me that I do not have to go next week. Just never said anything about the week we are on vacation and I told them every chance I could. We will see. Have a great weekend ladies.

Grumpy today. Didn’t feel well yesterday so that’s a part of it. Gotta go to town shopping and pay some bills too. Not my favorites, but necessary. Brownie was restless all night last night too so didn’t sleep well. She is 10 years old with an enlarged heart so I get anxious about her when she isn’t normal.
Gotta get a move on.
Laters ladies!

Oh, we were going to get fried chicken and macaroni & cheese for steve’s “picnic”. Only he just texted me that he’s ordered fried chicken and he’s not sure that I can use the oven since he has other things that need to be baked. I suspect that’s more of his way of being nice and not having us buy something. Anyone have a suggestion of something we can buy? I’m thinking maybe a fruit dish. Wonder if a store can cut up a watermelon for me. Then again, watermelon isn’t in season.
Michele NC
Get some fresh strawberries and blueberries or whatever is in season and looks good. Cut it up and you have a nice healthy dessert. If you must, get some plain greek yogurt and mix it with a little bit of honey and the fruit.

Hello Pat and other new folks I've missed! Glad you're here...
Don't feel you have to reply to all who post here, it's a fast-moving thread. The average is about 20 to 30 posts per day, but feel free to jump into whatever conversation interests you or put a question out there and you will get lots of answers, or reminders as the case may be.
Heather, so glad they're home and safe.
Vicki, well done on the gym workouts!
I did NOTHING yesterday except sit on the couch and watch crap TV. Between the soreness from the day before and the barometric headache, I was just whiny and cranky.
Today, though, I'm down to the studs on two walls of the shop I'm working on. The big crowbar does wonders, since most of the stuff they used was nailed up, so I can just lever them off the wall. Need to get back to my demolishment now that I've eaten lunch and put in a delivery order from Walmart...
Hope everyone has a grand weekend!
Love,

Blackberries are weeds here. I like them so I don't pull them out, but my husband does. They would be absolutely everywhere if we did leave them.dlfk202000 wrote: »started my day off by going to a lady who is doing a plant sale on Saturday but got to go today- did something I very rarely ever do, I actually spent money on something for me. Good for you!!

These are not wild blackberries that grow like weeds here too. They are thornless ones that my dad started for me. They are so much easier to pick when you don't get torn up while picking. I was glad to see that at least on of the 100ft rows he planted at home survived. Mom forgot to water them most of last summer so they didn't do much, not even enough to have be pruned at all. The second row which never was as good as the first only has a few plants now. That is fine- we dont need that many berries.
My raspberries are growing like weeds here- taking over part of the front yard, even coming up in the middle of the lawn.
Thanks- it felt good to just have a day about me- that rarely happens. Will work on doing it a little more often

Asthma had me up and on the nebulizer at 6:30AM after getting to sleep a little after 1:30AM, I did go back to sleep for another hour or so. Feeling very congested again today(was better yesterday- hoping more hot tea and another treatment will help.
Planning on checking out the neighborhood garage sales tomorrow with dh- nice that he wants to spend the day with me(instead of going out with his friend like he has been doing a lot lately)- Looking for a few things for my new succulent corner.
Should work on the catio- planned on that last weekend but I was sick and he was too tired so no work got done on the addition. If we are going to do it, has to be tomorrow- rain coming on Sunday. Not a lot of rain, if we get it , but we will have to wait and see.
No zumba on Monday as our teacher will be camping at Bodega Bay so some in the class are meeting up and walking the wetland trails- I have seen it(I park at the edge of it every day to pick my daycare girl up from school) but have never walked down to the Napa river on it. I have wanted to- asked dh a few times if he wanted to go- never happened. If it is really nice, I will try again to get him to go.
Time to finish my tea and get a few dishes done before getting the girl from school. Only 1 1/2 weeks left of school for her. Then I will have her full days but won't have to drive over and get her.
Have a wonderful Friday and weekend ladies

Good day Ladies.
Well, I haven't slept more than an hour a night for about a week now. I honestly don't know how I can function. I've tried different things and nothing is working. I was going to go to a play tonight, but am worried I'll fall asleep.
We are having a houseguest tomorrow. You all know what that means???? The house is getting cleaned today!
Here's a question for you all. In the morning when I step on the floor, my feet already feel like I've been standing or walking on them for 10 miles. They are fine when I exercise, but if I sit for any length of time, they "burn" again. Do any of you know what that might be and what type of doctor I should see? I thought podiatrist, but I'm not really sure it's a foot thing.
Well, the toilet isn't going to clean itself, though I really wish it would. Off I go.

Making ham hock soup. It looks good so far.
My middle sister, the one with neuropathy issues, bought 2 kits of survival meals. Each bucket holds 128 meals. I don't know how she thinks sometimes.

You are too kind friend. I am not brave, but I have a myriad of coping devices that I use to give you all the appearance of bravery.👍💖. My sisters world is her basement, which she leaves every couple of months, being carried out. I am sure its easy to get overwhelmed if one listens to the news etc. My eldest sister and I are visiting her on the 23rd and bringing her lunch. I will then see what her living conditions are like, and how she is managing.
Hugs!

My big To Do list felt overwhelming ... so it spawned a little one.
But for a short while, I was trying to just remember things. That doesn't work.

Heather - I’m happy to read your family is all safe at home. You will rest easy tonight.
Machka - sometimes it’s the little things that cause the dam to break. In fairness though, a lost phone is a huge deal nowadays.
It’s now 2 weeks after the first year. I just heard this week though that if you have some in your vacation bank employers must allow it to be used. I don’t know if that is true or not.
I need to look into it.
Is there an end in sight with all of the legal stuff. I assume it’s all to do with your husband’s accident and him being compensated properly.
Kylia - how many vehicles do you have?
Michele - I use a Duncan brand acrylic sealer.
What do you mean about the “five foot rule”?
Rebecca - you need a nice wood stove. They always make me feel “warm to the bone” without the risk of skin cancer. I wouldn’t have it as an only source of heat though.
Vicki - I hope you get to enjoy your vacation and not use it for jury duty.
Lisa - sometimes we just need a lazy day. I enjoy them from time to time.
Debbie - I have the grands tomorrow, maybe I should take them to some garage sales. They love them.
Tina - Last week a coworkers other half who hasn’t been sleeping well and was complaining about aches and pains in his feet finally went to the doctor, after she threatened to leave him. He was seen two days later by a cardiologist as the doctor was very concerned about his heart. They are working now to try to get him healthy again. It might be worth a visit to be on the safe side.
The local radio station is
giving local graduates “tips for being an adult that you aren’t taught in school”.
Tonight’s drive home host told the graduates that there will be days that you work 8-12-16 hours and you go home to an empty fridge, it reminds you that someone has to fill that fridge and since you are the adult it’s you.
He went onto say that you never, not one day not say “I don’t know what to have for supper”, you’ll have that decision to make everyday over and over again.
I came home and told Rodger about it and he immediately asked me what we were doing for supper. I said I didn’t know that I was going to ask him. He suggested we go out to a restaurant. He never suggests this, so I jumped at the chance. He asked me where I wanted to go and I told him about a hotel restaurant that one of the women at work was talking about. He said, oh we can walk there. I almost fell over. I just loved that!
Today was my Brother and SIL 22nd anniversary. They have been together for 31 years though. Tomorrow would be my parents 56 anniversary. I never know how to word that since Dad passed.

Tracey - Lovely photo. I can see you are your dad's daughter. It makes me feel old, though, when I realise that, if I had stayed with my first husband, this 4th July would have been our 52nd.
I woke up this morning and went through my 'grateful ' list, and guess which was first! When the plane touched down yesterday I sobbed.
Have you applied for the new job? Over here it's quite normal to ask for some vacation to be honoured. Very, very, good luck.
I never have an empty fridge, but I sometimes feel out of ideas for dinner. Delivery is an option here, and there are always big discounts. I try to limit it to things I can't cook myself, like fish and chips, or real, wood-fired pizza. Not slimming though! We sometimes share a mushroom pizza.
I'm really looking forward to the brunch tomorrow with the family. I'm a bit neurotic about covid right now, with the cruise so near, but the restaurant we are going to has very high ceilings, and is spacious. The peak of infections seems to be over, so I'm crossing fingers. The family all had it in March/April.
Raining this morning. The weather is going to be mixed for the rest of the Jubilee weekend. I just want it to be dry for our walk to and from the restaurant tomorrow. I've remembered that it is the same place that we were going to when I so nearly got run over in our early days here. DH just pulled me back in time. I was half a second from almost certain death, or serious injury. I'm hoping for a less dramatic journey there this time! We haven't been there in its new incarnation. It's now called 'Oeuf' as in 'egg' in French, and is only open for brunch type meals and closes at 4 pm.
