Worked today, Vince is going to the MD later today about his leg. I’ll probably go in the pool. Have missed it!
Heather – I hope you can get some sleep soon
Washed the blanket last night since I know Lexi pooped and peed on it. Also, we’re down to one litter box. We had a few others for Lexi hoping that that would help her. It helped some. Also cleaned the floor in the sunroom (where two of the litterboxes were). Will probably clean it again later on.
Thank you everyone for your condolences about Lexi. I guess I was able to sort-of prepare for this. She wasn’t going to get better, we know that.
Carol – we had four cats. We lost Bonnie and Clyde to cancer. Lexi to, basically, old age. We still have Loki who has an anxiety disorder. We will most likely get more cats but not right now. We think introducing kittens into the house will just send Loki over the top. He doesn’t like it when someone comes and stays. Yet, he doesn’t seem to mind Jessica. Well, she’s not real loud. I know he just wishes she didn’t have that cat (shadow who doesn’t like any other cat). But oh well….. I find jury duty to be real interesting. I’d jump at the chance to be on a jury again.

I've been so discouraged about my plateau and going up and down the same three pounds that I gave myself the day off yesterday. Didn't do anything drastic, just focused on the other things in my life. Today I felt better about logging my food and am about to go cycle for 30 minutes. Love reading all of your supportive messages to each other.8

having my tea before heading over to MIL's- need to walk the dog and then help with her shower.
Then errands with dh(typical Thursday beings I am off work). Need to work in my garden but that will have to wait.
May walk with my friend in the wetlands tonight. Good hour or so and the views are amazing of the Napa river.
Power was off yesterday for a few hours- some how messed up the garage door so dh came by and fixed it. Woke up with the phone ringing at 1:30AM- PGE telling me my power was out again, get back to sleep to be woken by them an hour later- to tell me my power was back on. (this after getting to sleep sometime after midnight)
Zumba at the park was good last night- ended my day at just over 18,000 steps.
Ok, stalled long enough- have to get over to MIL's. Really looking forward to a day, just a day, where I don't have to go over there.

I had an interesting text with middle sister last night. I told her about asking the Chaplain to check on Owain, or find out what his plans for further on down the year was. Staying in, next duty station, stateside or overseas again, that sort of thing. She said it just makes her livid that he treats me this way. That I need to demand from this superiors that he communicate. She asked what she could do to help. I texted back that letting me vent every so often is helping me. I said that checking in with the Chaplain is really all I can do, he's a grown adult and they can't "make" him communicate. She said that I sounded so military. (Hey guess what sister I have lived my whole adult life in this world). It just kind of proved how civilian her mindset is. That some things in this world aren't easily fixable. I have really grown in my way of looking at my sons issue. I realize that he is a good sailor, but a not so great communicator. I'm ok with that for the most part. She told me how strong I am, which was a sweet thing to say.
She also managed to sprain her other foot. She said she doesn't think its broken. Her life is one hurdle to the next, which is so sad to me. I think living in that basement is definitely taking its toll on her physically, especially with a wheelchair. 😢
Today is husband's dermatology appointment. They always spray a lot around his scalp and head, then a bunch of places on his body. He takes it all with a good nature though. When he comes back, its to the commissary. We kind of used up funds we would be using for our weekly grocery run yesterday. I sent a padded envelope of cute stickers and a card to Athena which was $4 plus overseas stamps $14. Then dollar store fun time $25 (lots of cute stickers and washi tape) and he treated me to Taco Bell. Today thankfully is just a couple of items at the commissary.👍

Michelle so sorry to hear about Lexi. I dread that day but probably dh and I will go before Riley as he is only three. My Dd said she wants him when we are gone. Glad Vine is seeing his doctor. He should tell him bout his fall.
Katla - best wishes for your travels. Prayers for your hubby as he flies to IL.
It is still over 100 today. When I checked a few minutes ago. The feels like temp was 106. You can’t do anything outside. I had to scale back our water aerobics routine as the water is too warm and we all got tired really quickly.
I am suppose to play golf at 8:30 in the morning but may decide to stay home. My beautiful garden is burning up. All the leaves are crispy.
Btw, I am also short 5’3”. Sounds like a tread here.

Heather I get leg pains called “Charlie horses” here and take magnesium supplements that stop it. I also have a magnesium roll on if I need
It. May help.
Height I was 5 foot 5 inches. For many years. When I turned 50 I started shrinking. Now at 66 I’m down to 5’ 3”. My mom shrunk almost 6 inches in her life.
Clothes my favorites are jeans and tee shirts, shorts and tank tops or tees. Sweatshirts in winter. I have 1 dress for special occasions and 1 for formal which only have been worn 1 or 2 times (a wedding and a funeral).
Went swimming yesterday, always relaxing. Was finally able to breathe properly all night so slept well but still feel sleepy. Recovering well.
New psych meds are helping but I think is part of my sleepiness. Also acting as a weight loss pill so double the work! Lol
Funny story, I went through my Facebook account and deleted people and groups and updated my location. FB then posted that I moved to Roswell. I’ve been here for 5 years now! Lol. Several people, including my son thought I was moving.

Heather--Sending hugs. The heat does me in also. I could not make it without air conditioning. Today and next several days the are expecting 100 plus. I hate summer and so looking forward to Fall.
Michele--So sorry about Lexi. Just know you gave her a good life. What is it with our DH's falling. Mine did at church this last Sunday. Did a number on his arm, hand, and leg. He told me he needs to learn to tuck and roll. This is his 3rd fall in just over a month. He went to the doctor the last time and all he said was he didn't break anything and was breathing ok. Hope Vince is feeling better and not so sore anymore.
Add me to the short list. I am 5-2 and getting shorter every year it seems. My grandma and Aunts on my dad's side were only just over 4 foot when they passed. Think I am taking after them. My DGC love having pictures taken with me once they are taller. At my tallest I was 5-5.
Allie--Sorry to hear about your friend losing her DH.
Rebecca--Sending hugs. I know it is hard when our children grow up, but to not text or call in this long is just wrong. I do hope you hear something soon. I do know from expereince that the longer it goes on the harder it is to make the call.
Been a strange day at work and something happened that really upset me. We charge phones for patients and this one came down and when it was done charging and came on was a very nasty picture on the screen. He is a middle aged man and I swear it was a minor. So turned it over to security. Now I just feel ill.

Clothes ... I dread clothes shopping. So when I find something that I like I buy multiples ... if it's a top, different colors. I'm 5'8, long legs and very short torso ... so it's a challenge. I have done online shopping and only use sites that make the return process easy. Now that I'm retired, I really don't have need for much, but I do like to have nicer things for church. I no longer wear skirts/dresses, but always have dressy slacks on hand.
Michelle ... hope Vince is ok ... and sorry for the loss of Loki...
Katla ... I am praying for you and your husband as you make significant changes. It's not easy and you can expect to have difficult moments, but it sounds like your family only has your best interest at heart.
Rebecca ... I'm saddened every time you write that the youngest son has not reached out to you. You handle it extremely well, but someday he is going to regret lost opportunities.
I have spent the past few days hedge and shrub trimming our yard. Last summer my guys just gave up after I broke my leg and everything was overgrown. Still have a lot to do, but the things look neater. The weeds are finally under control and beds are ready for mulch ... a little late ... but who cares. Working on how to hide a really dumb spot in the front yard where the septic tank sits... it's too high (and can't be lowered) and every summer the grass dies over top of it in a perfect rectangle. I'm considering reshaping the front landscaping beds to incorporate the tank and then just cover with mulch.

Rita - I don't have cramps or spasms. Just a deep, constant aching. I've had it before and eventually went to the doctor for blood tests. That's when they came up with the mild hemochromatosis. That can cause joint aches. I think it must be some auto immune thing. It tends to last for a while, then gets better. It's worse in thundery weather, or hay-fever season. I don't notice it in the daytime, or during activity, and it doesn't interfere with function at all. I think this time it may be an over enthusiastic immune response to the covid. I have other symptoms of Sjogren's syndrome, like dry, itchy eyes, dry mouth, dry cough, but not losing weight!!!!
Tonight I'm going to apply Voltarol gel liberally. I did start taking hemp oil last time, but I think it was more of a psychological help than real.
I'm looking forward to getting back to my previous level of activity, which might help. Moving about is a relief.
Spoke to my friend L this evening. She is up and down a lot. Sometimes very down.

Michele I am so sorry about Lexi.1

Vince went to the MD about his leg. It’s probably an infection so he has an antibiotic and oxycodone for the pain.
Was going to go for a walk but we decided that we’d replace the rug in the sunroom that Lexi pooped on. It’s stained. We’ve tried using a rug shampooer and there are places you just can’t get clean. So I was looking online for one, now I need Vince to see them. Made manicotti for us to have tomorrow. Made sausage ones for Jess and Vince and spinach ones for Colby and me.
Vicki – I love summer, heat and all (as long as it isn’t humid and I have my pool). Now winter...can’t wait for spring. Glad we go to FL in Feb., can get my almost-summer start. Then, when we get home, time to start opening the pool (yea)
Beth – we have one area in our backyard that’s a rectangle and it seems that the grass burns there. I can’t help wondering if that’s where the septic is and if there’s anything we can do to prevent the grass from burning.

walked, walked, walked and walked more today.
Started with walking MIL's dog, walked the wetlands with one friend, then, as I was getting in my car, my other walking buddy messaged me. She wanted to walk. So, yep, went to the other park.
23,008 steps so far. 10.32 miles 2516 cal burned
Hopefully I will sleep good tonight. Hip and knee are starting to complain.

Went to podiatrist today and found out that in addition to a torn ligament in my ankle I have a torn tendon on the opposite side. No wonder it feels unstable. He says the best thing for it is PT and I have already started that. He asked me to stand and lift my heels to stand on my toes. I was totally unable to do it. Really need to lose weight
Everyone take care, Sue in WA9 -
Sue - Sorry about your ankle issues. PT really does work, if you work it. I had problems for years from two bad sprains. Yoga was a huge help, but you can do a lot on your own. Just a little every day.
I need to get some weight off too.
Pleased to say, I slept much better last night. I anointed myself with Voltarol and then took a paracetamol later in the middle of the night. It had all started to wear off by 5 am, but I got through until 6.
I must say, I feel a lot more myself today. My appetite for life is returning. I am debating whether to make a return visit to the running shop. This will be the last bearable day before the temperature ramps up over the weekend and next week.
I will know I'm better when I get back to my new book, WHERE AM I?
The actual publishing process always scares me as I am sooooo not techy, but I know I can do it. I just wish I could wave a magic wand and it would magically appear! I'm always convinced I've done something horribly wrong and it will all come out a jumble. Of course, it doesn't.
I will not do it today, but always with me, the procrastination eventually becomes more painful than actually doing it. Then it gets done and I wonder what I was bothered about.
Yesterday I listened to a podcast that was very helpful to me in the matter of privacy and other people's privacy. I might listen to it again as it settled a niggle that has been holding up my plunging in to publication. I do have concerns, but I liked the discussion and the conclusions they came to. I discuss the problem in my intro to the book.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx4
