Katla, I'm glad your husband is getting good care. My heart goes out to you. I hope you stay well.

The owner of the group home my brother has been living in discharged all the men tonight without notice. A stranger came to pick them up and transport them to an unnamed facility. My brother called me so I went to pick him up, and he is at my house, asleep now. Sheesh.

wow Karen- that is beyond crazy. It is great that your brother has you to take him in- I feel bad for the other men, shipped of with no warning. Did they get to pack their things and take them with them?

Karen - Oh my! Sounds like something for investigation. Social services? Police? Local/national news?
You are an amazing woman. Please reach out for some help for yourself. Love you.
Didn't get to sleep until gone 2 pm last night. Too much excitement. I'm also worried about my son and DDIL and their house business. I can feel the stress.
I completely renovated two large houses and had a severe depression each time. Not the only reason for it, but the stress is huge, especially with children. Very bad for a marriage. Maybe I'm projecting.
Also, if they decide to move instead and take on a huge financial commitment, that carries its own stress. No let up in the pressure. Ugh. I'm sure you all have heard about the ructions our country is going through and the financial upheavals and uncertainty. Double Ugh. I would hate stress and worry about how to pay for a huge mortgage get the better of them.
Thinking aloud and the reason I couldn't get to sleep. Will get another instalment today, no doubt. I imagine they've been up all night with a calculator.
Thanks for listening.

Question.. anyone sweat for no reason even though you are way past menopause? I’m 66 and can go from shivering to sweating by just putting on a light sweater! Weird….
RvRita
2 years into menopause and still getting hot flashes.
BUT ... I've never used HRT and a few weeks ago, I went off Remifemin (Black Cohosh Extract (Root and Rhizome)) https://www.drugs.com/drp/remifemin-menopause-tablets.html ... and the hot flashes seem to be less frequent.
I also generally feel hot and have done since about 2018. It's a rare moment when I feel cool.

not sure the # in kilometers but I am at 92 miles so far for this month. 167 for Sept.170 in Aug.
Looking forward to talking with the wellness coach this afternoon to see what I need to do different to loose some weight(plus get my other numbers down too)
Almost time to head out to walk another 5miles plus Zumba tonight. My friend that took me to my first class but then stopped going to go to another gym, is now back going with me. It is just once a week now that it gets too dark to do it in the park at 6:30PM but her and I or another friend and I walk for that hour instead. This week we won't as the teacher is having everyone meet for a little get together at a Mexican place a couple blocks away. I will walk a little extra that day -street tacos are what I will be having that night.
Well done!!0 -

DH has been transferred to a hospital & my daughter has taken me there. I am sitting beside him. I spoke to him yesterday evening. Awhile later he was taken to a hospital.
Our daughter brought me here & I am sitting beside him. I am happy to be with him. He will have an MRI soon. I hope it will be helpful.
Keeping my fingers crossed for good luck. 🤞🏻 ❤️ 🙏🏻
Have they said what's wrong? I hope he recovers now that he's in the hospital.0 -

My stomach is processing ok, but its when it goes thru my intestines that the tightness, soreness happens. Yesterday, after totally cleaning myself out with Milk of Magnesia (I know TMI), I had broth and both doses of Meta Mucil. I had a terrible night of moaning, crying and endless baths. Its such a cycle. I have cleaned myself out 2 times, eating easily digestible foods and still it gets me to a point of a tight abdomen, and terribly sore lower back. Both sides, so thinking it is my kidneys? I am just guessing.
Oh to be able to eat normally again!
You know I used to be such a foodie.🙄😢

Maybe an X-ray. However, an X-ray might not show much.
Ask for a CT scan of your kidneys and gallbladder.
My kidney stones don't appear in ultrasounds ... they only appear in CT scans.
Also ask for a full set of ultrasounds - upper (stomach, gallbladder, etc.) and lower (kidney, bladder, appendix, etc.)
Kidney pain will be in the back, on either side, just above your waistline ... or sharp pains in the front on the way down to the bladder.

So now the issue will be getting my brother's birth certificates which have been mailed to the group home from Nebraska, and will probably arrive today or tomorrow. If I have to, I can ask the detective assigned to the case to go with me to get the mail, but I am hoping that won't be necessary.
Never a dull moment.

Tuesday -- Today we decided to do something "holiday-like" ... since I'm on holiday.
In the past, when we've gone on holiday, it usually includes things like:
- travel to a place we haven't been before
- cycling, hiking, walking or some other exercise
- lots of time outdoors
Since we still can't leave Tasmania, Australia, and since our favourite cycling area is recovering from the Tasmanian floods, we're staying home.
But there are places around home we haven't been before, so I chose one and we went there today.
Today, we went to the Hartz Mountains. For some reason, I thought they were a lot further south, but they're actually accessible. I picked 3 walks to do while we were up there. One was the Waratah Lookout, a short walk with a great view. The second was to the Arve Falls, a longer walk with a bigger waterfall than I expected and a great view. The third was a longer, slightly more strenuous walk to Lake Osborne, an old glacial lake with, again, a great view.
In the middle, between walks 2 and 3, we had a picnic in the day-use hut at the visitor centre. I'm often a, "let's get out there and cycle/hike here and cycle/hike there, and if we're hungry we'll just have a granola bar on the move" kind of person. So to stop for a picnic is a bit unusual and my first thought was, "This is eating into our hiking time!" But I told myself to just relax. This was a holiday adventure and we could take the time to sit and relax. And it was all right.
We saw an area we had not seen before.
We did some hiking.
And we spent a lot of time outdoors.
No doubt I'll have photos at some point.
And we got our bees!

Katla thinking about you and hoping your husband is able to join you soon in your apartment.
Karen wishing you success in getting your brother's birth certificate. That group home sounds toxic.
I don't have answers on kids that don't communicate. Four of the the five kids my husband and I called ours, keep in touch and are supportive and caring. One is not in touch and actively doesn't want to be in contact. It began about 6 months before the whole Covid outbreak and continues. I've written and letters got returned with " refused by recipient". My texts and voicemails get ignored. He's 52 and I think I will let him alone.

Katla - I hope the tests show good results for your husband. Thinking of you....
Rebecca - SO glad you're seeing the doctor again. That kind of pain needs to be respected, and as Machka said, I hope they at least get you a CT scan. For one thing, most hospitals have the capability now, so it prevents further delay... and as Machka said, it will pick up kidney stones if that's the problem. I hope you get an answer, dear heart. Just a reminder - fight for yourself as much as you would for Lee. Doctors in the US have a horrible tendency to see women our age more than once and assume we're seeking attention and/or drugs.
Machka - Glad to see you relax enough to have a picnic... Keep us posted on the bees - they're in grave danger here, and I'd love to start a few bee boxes here, but haven't the foggiest place where to start!
Karen - I'd meet the mail each morning with your brother and the detective, if at all possible. That place sounds like a "tear the mail up" kind of place.
I've got a kitty on my lap with cold fur; she's been outside (at 25 degrees here) for an hour or so. I vacuumed, not her favorite. She does, however, love my heater under my desk, so I'll have a kitty lap warmer for the rest of what is rapidly looking like winter here. The current cold snap should last through tomorrow, then we get a few more days of 80-degree weather, and then the highs start dropping fast. I need to get Corey on the roof this weekend to check the chimney. A fire in the fireplace makes all of us happy.
Did I mention we had half of another tree fall in the storm on Saturday? The last one gave us enough firewood for the whole winter - this one definitely supplied a month or so. Silver linings and all that.
I'm so looking forward to the time falling back an hour on Nov. 6. I always get tickled about the news critters' refrain of "we're getting one hour of daylight back!" No, we haven't actually changed that at all. We've just changed when we see it. As hubristic as we are, we haven't yet changed the earth's rotation or tilt. Silly goobers.
More vacuuming to do...
Later, y'all,
Love

We took a beginners course from a reputable and experienced beekeeper here. She runs several courses at different levels. Then we took another course. Then another course. Then we joined a Zoom group to chat about our bees. And an in-person group.
Even so we'll probably need help along the way, but we've got contacts now.
For the next 2-4 weeks, we're supposed to let the hive sit and the bees will orient themselves and explore the area.

I spent over an hour trying to log in to MFP this morning. Over the years, I have used 3 different email addresses and it would not accept any of the passwords. And, it would not send me an email to reset the password. Ugh! Then, all of a sudden it sent me 3 emails to reset password. Now I'm not sure who I am...

We had quite a storm last night! Knocked out power in the area until around 4am. I'm so grateful for our generator. Last night when I went to get my brother, on the main street leading to our subdivision were 6-8 utility vehicles with several crews out to fix the lines that were damaged by gusting trees. We had no tree or structural damage, but it was a doozy of a storm!

Thanks- finished off my day at almost 21,000 steps/9.4miles yesterday. Says I burnt 2550 calories but I only ate 1100. Hopefully I will see a loss this week.
I will be at my mom's this weekend so won't get to walk with my friend Friday night or walk with MIL's dog Saturday morning(will be up at 4AM helping at the food program/food bank and get some steps in there but not constant walking), so I want to walk a little extra during the day and see if my friend wants to walk Thursday instead of Friday- maybe walk extra beings we aren't walking tomorrow night either(taco's instead)

Father's Day of 2020 was the last time he got a text from her. What's significant about January of 2021?0 -
Lisa - I listen to the Dan Harris podcasts regularly and have the first two books. I like him because he is not woo-woo. I believe Barbie listens to him as well.
Being down on yourself is definitely not a sensible idea. Dan Harris would say, the clichés are so often right, It's OK to be not OK. It really is. ❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜
I'm at the kids house soon to be getting a lift when the girls go off to swimming. Edie has recently graduated to a more strenuous swimming club, but she wants to see her teacher to say goodbye and thank you.

Kids not talking— my DH’s 2 daughters haven’t talked to him in 20 years! I don’t know what happened but I’m sure he does but is in denial. I have the oldest’s phone number and texted her happy birthday as I have every year and this year she actually answered. Need to go slow. When my son was having issues the begging of this year I got a one month membership to do background checks. I used that to find out that DH has a step- granddaughter, a granddaughter and grandson the step is in college, the other two in high school. Never knew before I played detective. I’m moving very slow with re-connecting. Not sure if they will ever….

Ps, glad I’m not the only one with weird internal temperature control! 🥹4 -
Lisa: I hope your Iron levels are okay.
Katla: I am thinking about you and your DH.
Karen: You were very generous to your brother. I agree that sometimes people resent generosity and it can be walking on egg shells knowing whether to help or not help. The caretakers that come into help my DH are often on thin financial ice and it can be a quandry as to how to proceed.
Machka: Congrats on getting so much walking in!
Sue: Have a good time in Iowa!
Heather: Happy Birthday to your DH. I didn't realize your DH was a writer as well as you. I love the pictures!
Jeannie: Good for you for paying the debt off. I would have been overwhelmed with the situation with you EX and your daughter. Maybe the situation with your daughter will improve once the money situation settles down. I hope she is working and on her own.
Rebecca: This has gone on a while now. I hope the medical doctors can help you.
RV Rita: I sweat starting at the back of the head when I am in uncomfortable social situations. I can't control it. I actually do better on zoom then when I am in person with a group.
DLFK: I am jealous that you are so active. Walking and Zumba. Sounds terrific!
Lanette: I was just telling my DH I need to watch a u tube video on inflating tires because the tire light on the disability van goes off whenever it gets cold.
I walked this morning at my favorite college campus with a pond and nice architecture. I am much better rested now. I have a to do list but nothing very exciting on it. I will make an effort to see a friend later this week. The gardening club is having a fund raiser luncheon that I would like to attend. I am not a member but it is open to the public....but I am afraid something will come up last minute and I would let down the person who I asked to attend with me. I am afraid I sound awfully boring. Caretaking will do that to a person!5 -
