Good morning ladies!
This morning, I ran across a, well, pretty amazing video - a young couple playing "Diamonds and Rust" on their instruments called Chapman Sticks. Achingly haunting, and brought back a lot of memories of my life when I used to listen to Joan Baez sing it in the mid 1970's.
Let me know what you think:

HEATHER
Thanks for getting October started, Barbie! Such a glorious month!
Finished off what I missed when we lost internet on retreat yesterday... LOL and now I'm back!
It was actually really, really nice being completely OFFline and nothing we could do about it. I got over ONE-HUNDRED cards done in the two days I was there! They were all pre-fab kits, but I was so excited to get them all done.
Home again and LOVE sleeping in my own bed. The leaves here are already turning... Fall is definitely here. Not sure I like that, but... yeah.
Have a Blessed SONday!

Karen - incredibly beautiful story about your dinner and your thoughtful bosses coming to your mom's funeral.
Heather - so neat Edie read and loved your children's story, and that you were able to explain it to her. I bet she'll be a psychologist, author, or both. Sad to hear about your DH's twin - I get it. They share DNA but never shared much else in their lives it seems.
Carol - once these mattress toppers escape from the box, they don't want to go back in without a fight. We ran into that when we got a topper many years ago after our highly-touted mattress starting sagging after a year. The mattress company did send us a free topper, which helped for about 6 months. I finally decided to order a topper from Amazon to go on top the Saatva topper and voila, finally, it was comfortable. I have to stand on my step platform to get into bed to get a 4" boost.
I sure miss the good old days when mattresses were made to last and a person could FLIP them every 6 months or year.
Rori - I thought of you this morning when a song by Florence & the Machine came on the radio. Thank you for posting your adventures and allowing us to live vicariously through them.
Rebecca - glad to hear things are "moving along". When my DH had diverticulitis many years ago, he was hospitalized since he was on the verge of peritonitis. I remember the surgeon coming into his room, slapping down a big jug on the tray beside his bed and saying, "This is draino. Drink it all."
Michele - how long do you intend to work at BK? For as long as you can? Seems like the ideal job for you, good hours, plus you get nice spending money.
I've been fighting congestion/plugged ears the past few days. My typical allergy symptoms but Zyrtec doesn't seem to be doing the job. I have a hunch when I see my GP on Tuesday she'll send me home with Aselastine nasal spray, she offered it to me last week when I messaged her about my earache (which got better.) It's past time for the Dexa bone density scan so I'll get caught up.
We're going to have a warm afternoon, I should get busy and plant some tulip bulbs.
Make it a fabulous Sunday!

Happy birthday Heather- Sounds like you have had an amazing day doing exactly what you love

Heather - Sounds like a lovely birthday - Edie has such wonderful, strong female role models with you and her mom in her life. What a huge compliment to you for your book!
Karen - such a lovely tribute to your bosses. It's so hard to find management that can be respected and even loved for their integrity and ability, it seems. The best boss I ever had died just a year ago from cancer--and you would not have thought we would ever work well together, but we did. I thrived under her leadership more than anyone else, ever.
Finally got a good picture from my daughter of the two of them. I hope to get a picture someday of him looking at her. Everything he feels is in his eyes.
Quiet Sunday in progress...
Later, y'all,
Love,

Was able to ride the recumbent bike, do the Abs with Jackie DVD, then take a walk. Then went to WalMart and bought gas. Cleaned the floor, let the air out of my pool floats (cry), now I’ll go wash and wax my car
Heather – so glad to hear your birthday went so well. Out of the mouths of babes, ehhh?
Lanette – I told them at BK that the only ways they’d get rid of me is if BK fired me (which probably won’t happen, I don’t think they believe in firing) or when it stops being enjoyable. What I enjoy the most about the job is the flexibility it allows me. The other day I had a dermatologist appt. at 9a.m. I’d made the appt a year ago and totally forgot about it until I got the reminder. I tried to reschedule but it would have been months out. BK let me come in Sun night, do the prep for Mon. so I could go to the appt. Then they let me come back just to peel and slice the onions. See, I like to do that the day before their delivery so I can just separate the onions in the back room and be out of everyone’s way while they’re putting things away. Thanks for the reminder that I do need to check on my DEXA scan. I’m not sure I made the appt.
Off to wash and wax.

Found some dark brown to redo his eyes and some bright red, the red before was nail polish. Sits by the front door now. The slab was made for us when we did the front patio last year. Looks a lot better!

Found some darker brown for the eyes and got some red for his collar, looks good.
Also found this at the estate sale. I painted the word welcome and the heart. Hard to see the word without some kind of coloring.8 -

Allie - so glad you've sorted out the picture thing. Your daughter looks so relaxed and lovely, and Mr. Miles is a charmer! So love to see your smiling face, my friend...
Heather - So pleased it was the wonderful weekend you planned...
Pip - Loving the Yogi figure, and the changes were absolutely right.
Strange weekend drawing to a close... our daughter's wedding that we couldn't attend, but have hundreds of pictures from. While she was busy getting married, we found and bought the old truck we need to haul stuff around the property. That ends a three-year search, which is great. This morning was two hours of trying to find an electrical fault... which took out the office, living room and part of the kitchen. It was one tiny plastic electrical lock joining two wires in the attic that had loosened - probably when the air conditioner guy was up in the attic a few weeks ago.
Got all the laundry done, including the bedclothes, which got hung out on the line, so our bedroom smells like sunshine now... Hope for a lovely week for everyone.
Love to all,

Belated welcome @nanerkay Sandy from KY to a very supportive group.
Barbie are your sunflowers by any chance the ones whose tubers are Jerusalem artichokes? Love how you can find something to be grateful for after that “yes but…” conversation .
Betsy
Heather, your son’s smile hasn’t changed!
Lanette “… it’s medicine.” Thank you for this!
Rita interesting news about MFP.
Allie the pic of Miles and his buddy Ginger.
Machka Skin cancer sucks. Surprised you have to wait til November for the biopsies, that your dermatologist didn’t take samples right then. Hope you have the option of Mohs surgery.
KJ for your cousin’s home, grateful he and his wife are safe.
Pip great shower!
Tina so glad your knee didn’t swell. Good sign.
Katla delighted to hear DH will soon be joining you in your apartment. ((hugs))
Debbie so glad your Mom has finally seen the light about that roommate. Hope her surgery recovery is swift and sure.
Mice: We’ve had a few. Blocking entry holes, storing dry goods in jars or sealable plastic totes, deep cleaning pantry, and setting out humane traps baited (yes Margaret) with peanut butter for the few who get in has worked for us. We release the trapped mice into the forest and so far they haven’t found their way back into the house. I am so lucky that Joe is tolerant of my insistence on humane trapping.
Finally through September. Hope that when I read October, I’ll learn that Rebecca and Lisa have gotten some relief.
Tomorrow (actually today as it’s after midnight) is our 35th wedding anniversary. We don’t go out to dinner to celebrate any more as we eat on such wildly different schedules (and don’t leave the dogs at home alone). Joe surprised me this morning by asking if I’d prefer flowers or $100. I said I’d like the $$ as I could spend part on some flowers and use the rest for a few bills. Then I asked what he’d like for his anniversary meal and he said Chinese. The restaurant is closed Mondays so we’ll have Chinese take out Tuesday mid-day. Like Heather‘s Johnny its often hard to get Joe to say what he wants. This has been a win-win-win and I feel most fortunate.

Well, the day started off wonderfully. I woke up with the beginnings of a poem in my head about my curating of my Memory Boxes and my poetry. Went next door to write it on my phone. I'm going to call the poetry collection 'Memory Boxes' and write an intro about the link in my mind.
Then, just as I was sitting on my bed to do my bicep curls, the mouse ran under the open door and straight between my legs. Aaaarrrrgggghhhh! I was so discombobulated that, when I was putting the weights away, I dropped one on my little finger. Big ouch! I ran it under the cold tap and iced it, but I still, have a horrid bruise. Then, as I was downstairs, emptying the wastebasket, I was walking back along the hall and the mouse came charging down the stairs and ran under the radiator. Eeeeekkkk!
It/them are not eating any of the bait we have put down, so I have ordered a humane trap which will arrive tomorrow. Hoping for results. We can't see where they are coming in, and there are no droppings or nibbles. Amazon reviews suggest weighting the trap with a coin, so it sets off easier.
I am going to ring my friend L after lunch who is having back pain and is due to go on holiday to Switzerland with her sister on Wednesday. A coincidence?
Then I have Zoom with my old schoolfriends.
Hope to at least get started on the format for my poetry book.
