I have had floaters for a few years. Have had cataract surgery on both eyes and still have the floaters. My doctor said that they might go away, I might just get used to them and not notice them or, they will still be there and have to deal with them. Some days I don't notice them but right now, they are bothering me.
I did not pay the extra $2000-3000 per eye to correct my vision so still wear glasses. My problem is almost 100% stignatism .

To those who observe Yom Kippur, G'mar Hatimah Tovah.
Which reminds me, Rebecca--I've been thinking about you a lot and really hope your issues are resolving. I took both the medications you've been asked to use, and they weren't right for me, but I also know my gut is paradoxical at best in terms of how it reacts to most things (including those), which is why you didn't get a lot of advice from me.
Barbara AHMOD - Happy Anniversary to you and Joe!
The next injection in my hepatitis B vaccine series is this afternoon and will talk to them about getting the flu shot and a COVID booster. Pretty sure I'm eligible for the booster, and since I've been ill, I've been careful to get the flu shot each year. They're free to me through the VA, so I take advantage.
I am craving so many things right now I can't keep up with myself. Egg salad, cheese grits, french-fried onions, and my mother's burritos (1 pound of ground turkey browned and seasoned, add 1/2 jar of mild Walmart salsa and eat in a tortilla), just to name a few. I know the ground turkey burrito is comfort food, but the craving for the rest is a mystery. (they don't always go on the same plate). I always try to satisfy a craving, no matter how weird, because if I don't I'll eat everything else in sight and then eat what I was craving too...
Off to make my breakfast egg salad.
Love y'all!
Later,
Lisa

I was born with eye issues, you couldnβt see the brown of my eyes, I was born with crossed eyes. I had 3 operations, when I was 1, 3 and 6. I also have a lazy eye. I also had serious stigmatism, the classic coke bottle glasses, so school wasnβt much fun for me. I am paying the extra to pay what my medi-cal wasnβt going to pay. I never thought this day would ever come, I am overwhelmed with happiness, I wouldnβt care if I end up wearing reading glasses, at least they wonβt be thick.

Pip- hope this eye goes as smoothly as the last one.
Rebecca - hope tummy troubles are soon resolved.
Katla - thinking of you and your DH. Hope he is able to be with you soon.
Went to the YM this morning and when I got there found out I was supposed to be teaching water exercise. I had not received a message to that effect so was unprepared. I taught but did it from in the pool which is not the best scenario for a variety of reasons. However I did not take my water shoes with me and was not willing to teach barefooted from the deck. My ankle is doing very well but I am not willing to take a chance on slipping on the wet deck and reinjuring it. The regular teacher thought she had called me but didn't so just a miscommunication. Good thing I taught for so many years and could ad lib. I will be teaching again on Thursday.
Smokey again today. It gives me a headache and sore throat. I can't take a deep breath without coughing.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA9 -
Barbara-Thanks. It seems to be getting a bit better every day. I'm also recording data points. For example, it doesn't hurt at all when I walk in my house, but on the pavement in my running shoes, it does. Perhaps soft inserts are in order.
Sunscreen-I also don't like the feel of sunscreen. What I hate more is skin cancer. Sunscreen will wash off.
My dermatologist said he sees so many people with cancer on their bottom eyelid because we cannot put sunscreen on it. I cover it with sunglasses or eyeliner.
Allie-Miles is a cutie! I'm glad you figured out how to post pics. I also liked putting a face to Carmine's name.
Heather-Happy Birthday, belated. And what a gift you and your DH are to your grandchildren.
Hope all of you in Ian's path are OK.
Struggling to find a replacement part for a refrigerator. I don't understand why I can't just type in the part number and model number and find it. It's been a scavenger hunt trying to find this thing. We bought a new fridge for our rental 3 years ago. The tenants left it with 2 broken door bins and a broken shelf frame. How on earth they did that, we cannot imagine.
I'm still trying to catch up with you all.

Belated welcome @dvmmcw8273 Melanie!
Pip well done, both on the fund raising and on redecorating the trailer.
Viv like Lisa and Lanette, my bp is always sky high (160+/80+) in the office due to βwhite coat syndromeβ. Those robotic cuffs HURT. I found a wrist monitor that doesnβt hurt as much. Doc said theyβre not accurate but every time we check it against the one in the office, mine registers even higher than theirs. I only take once daily at home where it averages 130/76. Hoping more activity will take those numbers down out from the borderline range. Statins not uncommon, but would hate to think theyβre βnormalβ for our age. Bad friend for feeling that way? Nope. Please honor your feelings and find another way to celebrate your friendβs birthday.
Rosemarie good luck finding a walking buddy. It can be a challenge to find someone whose pace and conversation are compatibleβ¦

Carol ((hugs)) hate it when DH is gruffA when Iβm already feeling bad for having made a mistake. ((hugs))
Allie Oh! It makes it so real when you know (or kind of know) the people whose home is damaged. Howβs Tom taking it?
Rori love the idea of prescription sunglasses for driving. The windshield blocks the whatever it is that triggers my transitions so Iβm frequently blinded with the sunβs angle is low. Do you keep them in the car?
Katla baby hummingbird perched on the feeder today for almost 5 minutes. The adults flit in, slurp quickly and flutter away. Iβm forever grateful to you for the feeder recommendation. Do you have daylight/full spectrum lights in your new apartment?
Karen what a heart warming story with great discriptors of the CEO and President .

My spot has been flaring up then healing then flaring up then healing for at least 3 years ... before COVID. It flares up maybe 6 to 8 times a year, same spot every time, and almost completely heals each time. In the healed part of the cycle, if I look closely in a magnifying mirror I can just barely see where it is.
So in at least 3 years it has never completely fully healed.
At first I thought it was a recurring pimple. Then I started to get suspicious.

Pip good luck with the surgery
Heather I hope you find the mouse soon, it took us a while before we caught ours in the humane trap, one time it ate the cheese and somehow managed to escape the box from trapping it inside, but we eventually caught it and rehomed it
I've been taking my blood pressure every morning and don't think I have high blood pressure according to the readings. I'll wait for the results of my blood test and then make an appointment with my GP to discuss.
Machka your nights are getting lighter, and ours are getting darker. British Summer Time ends at the end of this month. Not looking forward to the dark nights to be honest, I think it's going to be a long cold winter.

Sue in WA - I am so sorry the smoke is still lingering in your area. The air here in SW WA doesn't smell smokey but you can see a haze, and those of us with allergies are having a heck of a time.
It's unnaturally warm for early October. On one hand, I'm glad the daytime temperature is warm enough to not kick on the heater, but on the other hand, it's too warm to sleep unless I open the windows at night - then the house gets too cool, heater comes on, etc. etc. Being cautious, keeping the electric bill down. A little fan running in the bedroom helps.
Kim - how is your Mom's move coming along? I think about her sometimes and what her life will be like living closer to you if and when that happens.
Allie - Miles is too cute! Thank you for posting pix of him.
Debbie - so sorry to hear about Destiny. Sending prayers. Your mom's roommate situation is worrisome, hope that gal takes off with minimal hassle. I wonder what my life will be like in, say, ten years. Will I still be here and able to afford to live by myself? Would I be willing to share my house and give up my quiet space? Rori's solution sounds good with a roommate who has his own interests and is used to sharing a home. It's still early days, I'm not worried. Still keeping traveling nurses in the back of my mind.
A couple days ago I ran to town after lunch to deal with a Credit Union error (another case of a little bitty IRA CD being rolled into a non-IRA CD = taxable distribution. Their boo-boo and they fixed it!). I ran into one of my former favorite supervisors there, who has also since retired. We stood in the shade outside the building and yakked and reminisced for probably half an hour. He's a kick - we'll meet one of these days for coffee or lunch. NOT romantic! Just a friend. Another benefit of getting back out in the world and being able to do spontaneous things.
Facebook Messenger question: I'm curious. How many of you use Facebook Messenger as a primary way of communicating with people? I like that I can open it on my tablet and not have to also open FB and be bombarded with their ads. Seems like 99% of my friends prefer Messenger over texting and email.
That's a wrap. New gals - pop in!

Haven't seen the mouse since it charged about on Monday morning. I suspect it was in its death throes, poor thing. Crossing fingers tightly. The humane trap arrived last night.
I've just spent what seems like hours preparing for DH 's visitors and an 'easy lunch'. I've tidied the house because they haven't been here before, so they will get a house tour. And I've laid the table and prepared the food. Drinks in fridge etc. The ice cream dessert is weather dependent , as they may go out for ices if it's clement. It does look a bit windy and rain is forecast. I have backup.
These are not my friends and I'm not sure that DH even would choose them nowdays. They used to live in Cornwall, in a beautiful setting, so we have house-sat for them, and visited. They seem like a different generation to us. DH met the husband when he was an exam -setter and this guy was the only literate and intelligent one of the board! He is a train nerd. They are vigilant with their spending money.
The good thing is that DH felt impelled to tidy up the front garden and sweep the porch, so that's a bonus.
Oh well, it's only one afternoon,.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx6 -
It is still dark this morning. and I am awake. I hope to go to the grocery store and stock up on my favorite cottage cheese and blueberries later today. I will go with my daughter when she is available.
I am hoping that my husband will be able to move in with me soon. I am keeping my fingers crossed for good luck.

Lanette, I have several friends who prefer Messenger to texting or Email. I am most responsive to Text (iPhone), then Messenger, then Email, then Voicemail. For whatever reason!2

Probably a good idea to get them checked!
For quite some time, I assumed that skin cancer would look like a misshapen mole. That's the image which is shown around here all the time. Turns out the misshapen mole is Melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer.
But there are several different kinds of skin cancer. Actinic Keratosis is a precancer, Basal Cell Carcinoma is most likely what I've got, Squamous Cell Carcinoma a somewhat more serious version of BCC, and of course Melanoma.
https://www.health.com/condition/melanoma/is-it-a-mole-or-skin-cancer
So of course, thankfully, none of mine look like the Melanoma pictures I've seen. The one that is the closest to that may just be a pigment-less mole.
This site shows pictures of 5 different types of BCC:
https://www.skincancer.org/skin-cancer-information/basal-cell-carcinoma/
I also see that this site (link below) says of BCC:
"What it is: Caused by sun damage and typically found on the face, this type of cancer is treatable if it's caught early.
Looks Like: It normally appears as a pinkish or reddish patch that may bleed or scab. "Picture a pimple that seems to heal, only to return again," Dr. Ostad said."

Heather, Bea makes a beautiful Queen! Your hubs is such a trooper.
Oh Annie! You dad reminds me of my mom. She regularly BLOCKS me on her phone. She also has trouble with turning it on airplane mode. Sometimes I think they make these functions too easy (for us) and then they get turned on by mistake.
Pip, just had a regular eye exam yesterday and my doc was saying how easy those surgeries are. Prayers for you. You're going to be so happy tomorrow!
Not much new or different here except that I came home SO EXHAUSTED yesterday that I went to be at 730 last night and slept ELEVEN HOURS straight through! Must have needed that! WHEW!

I scheduled i guess my second pneumonia vaccine. I had my first 1 in 2008 and its a 2 phase vaccine
So i scheduled it a couple weeks out to give my arm a while to bounce back lol.
Ordered a couple toys for Miles for Christmas. And right now he he is snoozing here on the couch..1 -
Pip ~ Good luck on your upcoming surgery. It is great to be able to see without glasses/contacts.
Karen ~ I had the cataract surgery and I recently got floaters. Dr. said there was nothing to do about it. I will have to go back in 6 wks for a recheck to make sure there is an unknown as of yet problem.
Please
Carol in GA4 -
Carol, The doctor I consulted about the floaters (vitreous detachments) said they are so big that it warrants vitrectomy to be done at the same time as cataract surgery, taking care of both problems. Bigger procedure, but should leave me with crystal clear vision. I look forward to it, despite how radical it sounds. Of course, in 10 years I may be a little more nervous about it.

I like Messenger. Its my primary way to communicate with my eldest sailor overseas. He leaves me videos, and I critique them! He is also a fan of the most obscure music so I am always listening to a Russian rock band, or Mongolian throat singing, or Jazz from the 30's. He is like me, can find beauty in most any music.π. Our family also has a chat group, where we're all listed and if anyone wants to get info out to everyone, we use that. Right now its just our veteran son in Vancouver WA, his wife, our eldest son and husband & I. Youngest hasn't communicated since June 2020 on my personal Messenger chat, and longer maybe 2019 on the group one. We all miss him, but he knows where we live, our phone number, he's an adult.
