Optimistic October ...
https://actionforhappiness.org/calendar
One thing I always look forward to in October in Australia is Daylight Savings Time! It has begun! As of today, I've got my evenings back ... no more deep darkness.
Other things ...
I'm hoping to finish my dry stream project.
I'd like to get a whole lot more flowers planted.
We're hoping to get bees this month.
I'm hoping to find a GP I like.
We're hoping to do a lot more cycling than we have been during the darkness of winter.
I'm hoping for more lunch walks.
And I'm looking forward to more time off this month, during which time I hope to finish my dry stream project and get outside cycling more.

Another calendar ...

So far this month ...
I haven't been feeling really well in general for about a week. Sunday night, the energy dropped right off and I did something I rarely do ... I fell asleep in my chair at about 8 pm. And I haven't gone to work on Monday or Tuesday.
However, I have built community connections, involvement, networks and stuff! (see calendar above )
I went to the local testing centre to get a PCR ... negative for all 4 things they test for.
Then I tracked down a new 24-hour telehealth service, finally got a call from a doctor at 1 am, and had a script for antibiotics sent to my nearest pharmacy which I picked up today.
And I've slept a lot the last couple days.
Sinus infection ... likely from allergies to all the beautiful things which are blooming like mad out there.
I did manage one thing today ... I folded and put away some laundry!

Barbie it has turned my skin from leather to silk! My acordian lines on legs and arms are almost gone. Wrinkles on my face that I had for over 30 years have disappeared! I think 🦇 wings will fly away 😜

Debbie, I have a high school friend that lives in Benicia, CA. I will have to ask her about these wetlands and see if she has ever been to the park or trail there. Maybe at some point, I can fly out and she and I can walk them. I haven't been to California in over 30 years.
Mary, I must have missed something in this blog. What in the world are you talking about? Is this some type of miraculous cream?2 -
I hope our daughter will take me to see DH again today, I hope he will come home with me soon.2

Happy Anniversary Barbara!
Shows how wonderful long relationships are Betsy. How precious that you have those letters to read back. He treasured your life as much as you did.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
To those who observe Yom Kippur, G'mar Hatimah Tovah.
Which reminds me, Rebecca--I've been thinking about you a lot and really hope your issues are resolving. I took both the medications you've been asked to use, and they weren't right for me, but I also know my gut is paradoxical at best in terms of how it reacts to most things (including those), which is why you didn't get a lot of advice from me.
Barbara AHMOD - Happy Anniversary to you and Joe!
The next injection in my hepatitis B vaccine series is this afternoon and will talk to them about getting the flu shot and a COVID booster. Pretty sure I'm eligible for the booster, and since I've been ill, I've been careful to get the flu shot each year. They're free to me through the VA, so I take advantage.
I am craving so many things right now I can't keep up with myself. Egg salad, cheese grits, french-fried onions, and my mother's burritos (1 pound of ground turkey browned and seasoned, add 1/2 jar of mild Walmart salsa and eat in a tortilla), just to name a few. I know the ground turkey burrito is comfort food, but the craving for the rest is a mystery. (they don't always go on the same plate). I always try to satisfy a craving, no matter how weird, because if I don't I'll eat everything else in sight and then eat what I was craving too...
Off to make my breakfast egg salad.
Love y'all!
Later,
Lisa

Allie--Miles looks like such a happy little guy. Thanks for sharing.
Machka--Do hope you are feeling better soon.
Mary--Would you explain how this TENS machine works. How long do you put it on each time?
Things are work are still a mess. Now I understand that this is a nation wide issue. Kind of funny as most of the nurses don't know what to do without the computer. Guess since I was here before this is just old school, but makes for stressful days.
The scale was up at weigh in this morning and I only have myself to blame. I have been on an eating binge for acouple weeks. Deep breathing and prayers today.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE8 -
I had the pleasure of chatting with our son today. I also had a telephone visit with DH. I hope DH will be able to move to our apartment, and I hope he will be here soon.3

Not much here. I’m disappointed tho. I was supposed to teach 3 classes but only 4 people signed up so down to only 1. At least that’s something. Things happen for a reason so I’ll just go with it!
Tooth is healed up, arms not sore from shots any more and meds stable. Now to get back to a lot more walking! Weight is going in right direction but slow. Adding mor walking should make the difference.
Hugs to all who need or want them, love all the pictures, and congratulations to all the celebrities out there! 😘

We had a terrific pick up today. First stop, the climbing rocks.
Then the climbing trees.
Then Bea picked leaves and flowers all the way home. She is pretending to be Queen Victoria.
We finished with a crown for DH.
Then Bea and Edie went to swimming, so we were dropped off. Picked up milk and ice cream for tomorrow 's visitors.

Have I mentioned I hate having appointments? Yeah, I do. Just following pig trails all over the Internet reading for another hour before I leave the house. I don't mind doing the reading, just don't like having to stop, I think!
Later, y'all,
Love,

My Dad told me his phone was totally unresponsive and he had pushed all the buttons. So we bought him a new phone. I called the service from my phone to transfer his old number to his new phone. The lady told me to hold down the red button, and the old phone miraculously came back to life just fine. My Dad had forgotten how to turn his phone on.
I keep putting off my errands because of the rain. But it's supposed to rain again tomorrow. Maybe just a little nap. 😊

I am talking about an Avazzia Sport Med TENS unit that I got from my homeopath for pain and migraines. It got rid of my wrinkles and I decided to try it on my arms and legs and stomach area because if it could do it on my face it should be able to do it everywhere else and it does get rid of all bad skin. You would not believe how smooth my arms and legs look now!! Even age spots, liver spots, spider veins are disappearing!5 -

WELL PEEPS, tomorrow is the big day! I get cataract surgery on my left eye! No more contact lens, no more fuzzy vision. I can’t believe how clear my right eye is. I never noticed how fuzzy life was, I just was used to it all these years. 7am PST is check in time, this is a monumental day.11
-
Pip— Good luck for your cataract surgery. I hope you will be pleased.

Nothing new here...just work
Oh, went to senior bowling yesterday. The secretary was putting in one of the players on Vince’s team as a blind so Vince asked her “oh, did Robert call you and say that he wouldn’t be here?”. She answered Vince “you haven’t heard?” Seems the guy was arrested the previous Wednesday and charged with three count of sexual exploitation of a minor. He has $150,000 bail. Not exactly sure what “sexual exploitation” refers to. Was it an internet thing or did he actually touch a child? As of right now, he’s in the Catawba County jail.
Seems that the deal with CVCC (local community college – near our house) fell thru. From what we understand from another guy who goes is that now they’re looking at having ceramics in the building below where we have it right now. But then again, my understanding is that the deal to sell the building hasn’t been finalized. So who knows? I’m thinking that if they do go into the building on the property, the city will have to upgrade the electricity to handle the kilns. That’s why I thought that if they were able to have ceramics at CVCC who must have the electricity since they have a pottery class, that would be ideal and we could probably start painting sooner. They’ll have to also probably upgrade the ventilation for the stains.
In our second home we had a mouse who died behind the wall! For a while, what a stink!
Barbara – happy anniversary
Heather – honestly, you are braver than I am to stay in a house with mice
Copied one of Vince’s VHS tapes to CD. Now he’s working on the other one of his. He wants one part but not the other. I’ll just let him take care of it.
Rosemarie – I believe Mary is talking about the TENS unit
Happy Yon Kippur to all those celebrating
pip – good luck tomorrow.
Ceramics tonight.

Pip, How exciting! I have to admit to being envious. I have huge floaters and they can't be fixed until I have cataracts bad enough to operate on, so I am probably at least a decade from having clear vision. It's a little bit depressing. They say your brain adjusts, but mine did not, and I've been told it's because the floaters are so large. Both eyes.

I am happy to report that son came and he and his dad took the mattress topper to the UPS store. They only charged $16 to box it to return. Hopefully, it will get back to the manufacturer and I will get a refund.

Glad it was all handled and without a huge $. Hopefully things have quieted down.💖👍🏻🙏

I'm managing. Between Sunday and Monday I was up all night dealing. Husband gave me Milk of Magnesia, and definitely kick started things. My prescription was 1 to 3 days to work. Last night I fixed myself a small bowl if mashed potatoes and that tasted good. Today just trying for my body to process that. Between the ache in my abdomen from being tight for a bit, and hunger, I am zapped. Still sipping a cup of chicken broth in the mornings, which feels and tastes good.
Hugs

Pip I hope your surgery goes smoothly!👍🏻💖

Vicki there are 10 areas on your face that you go over 10 to 15 times in the rest mode then 10 to 15 times in the blue stimulus mode. If you already have a TENS unit with a wand I posted the pictures of the areas in the spoiler. I did not take before pictures of myself but I did take before pictures of my husband and I started treating him on Saturday. I will post the results after this next Saturday. I can already see softening of his very deep wrinkles! He is being a very good sport about this!

Pip - good luck with the cataract surgery
Karen - I have the gigantic floaters in both eyes too, but one is a bit worse. I can "see around" them during the day, but at night there's too much glare and "fog". If it's raining, forget it.
Lisa - I forgot to mention, what nice wedding pictures. Your daughter and new SIL look about 20. You can tell they are very happy and in love
Katla - I am so tickled you are settling in, I know it was hard for you for a while, then with your husband taken ill again.
Vicki - I can't imagine what it's like at your hospital without computers. When I was at the 911 Center, the crew would practice going "on paper" every other month or so. Of course that was over 20 years ago, and today the technology has improved a lot and everyone is so much more dependent on it with the mapping and such. I'm sure the nurses are the same way.
I had the post-Covid follow-up with my GP this morning. All is good, and I explained how mysterious it was that as I got better, I felt better than I had in a long time - the pain in my hips went away. Diagnosis - bursitis in my left hip which had been going on for a while, exacerbated by all of the pavement walking I'd been doing. So she sent me home with stretches and exercises and self-care instructions to get it healing. She said lay off the stressful stuff, cut pavement walking out for a while or at least way back, OK to try gentle walking on the gym's treadmill or some easy walking videos at home, but when it starts to hurt = stop!
I also had her take a look at some "spots" I could feel on my back - she said they are all friendly, no worries. She removed a pre-cancerous lesion on my nose a few years ago with dry ice - it healed up just fine, can't even see where it was.
And to finish the visit, she showed me videos of her twin boys, born July 2021 - very premature, under 3# each. They are doing great, bright as dollars. Pushing each other around in boxes, all the fun stuff little kids do. She said it's great being a mom of twins, twice the fun plus they get to entertain each other and give her a break.
