Machka, Our Roomba cost $211. The same model is now on sale for $179. Sorry they are so expensive where you live; a thousand dollars is ridiculous!!

4 Who is someone in your life that you’re grateful for? I am incredibly grateful for the assistant marketing manager Stephanie at our retirement community, who is skillfully navigating us through the portal into our retirement community. Among other things, she tactfully negotiated to return the larger storage space that originally came with our apartment (it had been commandeered, lol), assigned us a prime parking space near the elevator in the parking garage, gave us a grace period before we have to start daily "check ins", took charge of a delivery of large awkward boxes in our absence, delivering them into our apartment with care, spontaneously recruited us to join into a trivia game that was already underway, and numerous other little thoughtful gestures. Plus she is super responsive to emails.

Well it looks like my mom sensibly has refused to go shopping, so I have to go to help my dad. Much safer, but a pain in the butt.

Annie – I read your posts and feel grateful that I am able to have some space from my Mom, living with her would be hard for me. But also think how lucky you are to have both your parents still, and to have them be so generous to have you live with them, my family is as far from generous as you can get – probably why I tend to be open and generous with people in my life.
So interesting to see the price differences both with the currency differences and just in different parts of the US.
Holiday season is often hard for me, and while I thought I had this one figured out it turns out that my plans were dashed yesterday, and while there are 20 days to figure out new plans, at this point I’ll be home with Levi. In my day dreams I would have had a big family with lots of folks around; too bad it is just a day dream. To any of you hosting holiday meals if it is in your heart and budget consider inviting folks to join you, even the most connected person may not have a place to be. And it is so much easier to accept an invitation than to ask to be invited.

Lucy went from walking .75 to 1.5 mi. I’m doing each distance 4 days each bumping up 1/4 mile each time. She had the itch to keep walking so we hit 1-1-1/2 miles. She’s just a slow walker sometimes. Today is the 3rd day, next distance is 2 mi.5 -
Good Job Lucy!!! Pip you are a great puppy Mom.1

I'm sorry, Kim. If we were closer, you could join us for our charcuterie board. We are keeping it low key.

Yes I am very lucky that my parents are kind and generous people. They tell me at least twice a week that they are grateful to have me here. And I am grateful to be here, so it works out well.
I originally thought I would only be here six months, and I had planned to spend half of that time in Richmond with a boyfriend, but it's been six years now. I'm committed here until they pass, or sell the house. There's no telling what the future holds, especially if my mom needs memory care. For now she gets tired and confused and forgetful, but she doesn't wander and she doesn't fall, so we are fine.
I am particularly glad I was not alone during the worst of the pandemic. Teddy is good company, but it's better to have some human contact, too.

Hi my name is Karen, and I live in Oregon.
Next month, I’ll be 65. So excited for my new health insurance that pays for daily exercise at the city gym. First class is PiYo then Zumba.
Hope to meet like minded friends
Thanks for sharing your lives and journey

Pip--Hope Kirby has a quick recovery
Rita--Cute Christmas tree.
Machka--Beautiful pictures of where you are able to walk. The water is so blue.
It was a good weekend. Got the rest of what I wanted put up outside and did the inside. Not as much this year, but I enjoy it. Then yesterday they had the annual Cookie wall to raise money for Habit for Humanity. It started at 1pm and is usually a line. So we got there at 1:20 and they were wiped out. I was shocked. So now I will just go buy cookies and make a few for the neighbors. I pass out gift boxes to the people on our block.
Have our Women's Christmas party at church tonight, so when I get off I need to run home and fix my dish. Table is already decorated, did that yesterday after church. Looking forward to a fun evening. My DDIL and DGD were to come, but they tested positive for Covid this morning.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE6 -
Mailed two boxes today. $40. We are done! We have some things coming from Amazon. I have no wrapping paper to wrap them, but not really into buying more! Not really into making Christmas cards this year, or decorating for that matter. I not depressed, or sad, its just things I am not keen on doing.

Kim - I'm so sorry the plans fell through... but hope the replacement plans you choose will bring serendipity, and a joy and a wonder that you weren't expecting. And if not, then Levi, bless him, will be seriously glad to have you all to himself. Wish I had more comfort to give.
Karen in Oregon (@200Karen ,) welcome! We have more than one Oregonian and Washingtonian who participate here, and we're glad to have you. Being excited about exercise is the best mental state you could possibly be in, and there are like-minded women on this thread by the dozen. Chime in wherever you like, you'll get a warm reception.
Vicki - I'm sorry your family members ended up with Covid! Hope it's a light dose.
Went to Walmart for the first time in yonks, only got turned around once trying to find a box of tissues. They did some remodeling, and reset the entire store map over the last couple months, and it's beyond annoying. One of the things I used to like about Walmart was that their store setup was very nearly the same no matter which one you're in. As many times as I've moved, that was actually reassuring in stressful circumstances. Not any more...
Trying to get myself back to exercising again this week. I am not a lover of exercise, I never have been, and will take almost any excuse to skip it. Even after the third infusion a couple weeks ago, I'm pretty sure my iron is also either low or borderline low, as I'm still tired a lot these days. I really need to stop using it as an excuse though.
Onward, my dearlings,
With all the love in the world,

Karen: Welcome
Annie: I love Audible and Libby!
Jeannie: Good for you for joining a Silver Sneakers!
Tracey: Pretty ornaments!
Sue: Maybe the mammo is 60 to 90 minutes so the radiologist will have time to read the mammo on the spot. Also maybe the radiologist will want to do an ultrasound if there are questions. If there seems to be questions, Myself, I would push for a biopsy if the doctors seem borderline about suggesting one. But I have been there, dense tissue,
calcifications. These can generate requests by the radiologist for further pictures. We watched the Elton John concert as well!
Ginny: Hope you enjoy the time you take off from work!
Machka: Hope you enjoy your 3 weeks of rest!
Annie: A date...Wow....I wouldn't know where to begin....
Rebecca: I hope you continue to heal! Peanut brittle sounds delicious!
Sherryann: Yes! Onward! a little creativity every day is a good thing!
Debbie: Great news on the body scan!
Heather: We had to give up on bird feeders! Squirrels won!
Healthysmrs: Welcome! I struggle with Coca Cola! Trying to replace this with oranges!
Lisa: Yes, Light in a house is a wonderful thing! And seeing light out a nice window can make my day!
Dishwasher broke and I hope it is fixed. Did get to the Gym. Not much new on the caretaking front. We watched
a Brad Pitt movie last week and I don't know what we will do tomorrow! I did hang wreaths on the windows. The first year I have ever done this. They do look nice. They are on command strips, so I hope they stay up!
Best,
Rosemarie from GA

In past Decembers I brought a live tree into our living room and placed it in front of our window. This December the tree 🌲 is staying outside in its place in Oregon. I have purchased tiny artificial trees for my husbands night stand & another for me.
This December I am moving to an apartment closer to DH’s health facility. My move will begin by tomorrow. I am not sure how long it will take to finish my move. I am confident that I will be able to continue visiting here regularly.
Today I am up to my eyeballs in packing clothes and other items from knives, forks, plates and spoons, to appliances, house plants and furniture.

Rebecca - did you see the Goonies house was for sale and actually sold to a fan who wants to keep it like it was? I saw it on FB - can't find the story right now. If I do I'll message it to you.
Kim - So sorry the Christmas invite fell through. Hoping someone else comes up for you!
I'm trying to remember - didn't we have a discussion several years ago about going to a restaurant as a single person - not necessarily on Christmas or a holiday. And someone mentioned that restaurants often place "singles" together at a table for conversation? I just checked - looks like Applebees might be open on Christmas, at least around here. I think if I didn't have an invite and really wanted to have a nice meal, I'd look into this.
You never know who you might meet. I'd probably ask to be seated at a table with a gentleman without prison tats, lol, and start up a conversation about cleaning gutters, pruning, etc.
Karen in VA - my Amazon packages arrived, several of them were taped shut - having come apart along the way. Luckily the items were still in there. I've also noticed boxes arrive with the tape coming loose. What a nightmare this must be for the shipping companies.
Rosemarie - glad to see you back
Pip - glad Lucy is doing better and your pups are walking more. How's Kirby feeling?
Karen in OR - Welcome! I'm up the road a ways in SW WA State.
I've noticed the neighborhood doesn't have as many yard decorations as in the past. Across from me is a really cute light pole with lights wound around it as Barbie mentioned, and the house next to that has a gorgeous Christmas Tree in the front room I can see at night plus all kinds of reindeer, snowmen, etc. in the front yard. I have the perfect spot to view and appreciate their hard work.
I put up a couple wreaths and that's going to be it.
Walmart shoppers - I discovered I can find the website for my local store, and enter items I'm looking for. It will tell you if they have it in stock and what row/aisle has it. Sure has saved me a lot of time since they've rearranged everything.
Have a great week!

Afternoon ladies
Had to drop stuff off at UPS holy cow ,a line out the door and UPS trucks picking stuff up to take deliver as we were dropping off..,felt bad for the guys working there..
Kim- I feel you my friend... i will be going over to my daughter and son in laws to see the kids open there presents and then ,I'll be home by myself and Alfie for the rest of the day ,and same for new years..
I love being together with friends with family but not a huge crowd..
Went to visit my friend Lil and brought Alfie up.. she loved it.. they have put a hospital bed in the living room ,she has had a few falls..
Another day tomorrow..if I lived closer Kim you and I,andLevi and Alfie could hang out for Christmas 🎄 love ya girl!!3 -
Rosemarie - these birdfeeders are built like tanks! Good so far! They did manage to knock one off its branch once. Bent it, but couldn't get in.
Finished my cards. DH bought stamps this morning, so I'll post them on the way to our Bea pick-up tomorrow. I've never got them done so early, apart from the year we were moving at the end of November, so we used them as a change of address card.
We are planning to have a date night tomorrow as we will be in the centre of Hove. A quick beer at the micro brewery and then a meal at the Persian restaurant. It really does us good. We feel like young lovers.
Did an Instagram post today about Perfectionism. It used to plague me. I was paralysed by it. I've noticed recently that I'm far more likely nowadays to just have a go at something and not worry too much about it being perfect. Or even very good! Phew! Very freeing. Reading my old poems makes me realise how miserable I was comparing myself to some spurious notion of 'genius'. Now I take joy in the trying. Messing up is not so terrifying any more.
Is this just a result of getting old? What do other 'oldies' think?
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx3 -
Have a lot of pages of posts to catch up on.
Just got home from the weekend with mom's
Well, the appointment at the plastic surgeon didn't go as simply as I was expecting.
I will be having the surgery to have the spot and border around it removed which I knew about. A week later, I will be going back in for skin graft/reconstructive surgery. After that, I will not be able to drive for two weeks, have to sleep in the recliner or propped up 30 degree angle(will be hard because I am a side sleeper usually). No bending or lifting for two weeks. No zumba for at least a month.
I wasn't expecting to need the second surgery because they had said they caught it early. The way he was explaining the areas that they will graft from was scary. Still processing all of it.
My doctor is going to Wales the 17th so most likely will have the two surgeries after the first of the year.
Got quite a bit of candy made at mom's but not as much as I had hoped. Mom was busy running around with errands so no help at all.
Still dealing with the pain in my chest from the pulled muscle from my fall two weeks ago so sleeping on her couch the last three nights didn't help that.
Got to the school today to pick up my daycare girl and text her mom to let her know about the upcoming surgeries and she said, oh, I forgot to tell you, she didn't go to school today because she has pinkeye- so, I drove back home after sitting there half an hour(go early for parking-usually I go walk but not today)
Zumba tonight- will take it easy but will be nice to get out for something fun. Want to enjoy it while I can
Now to catch up on the 8+ pages I am behind.
Debbie

Debbie: So sorry that you’re having to have the extra surgery after all. At least you have time to prepare for the new year date.
Pip: Vicki: Sending healing thoughts that the ‘glitter’ does not stick around too long, and does not have any ill effects.
Heather: I also find I’m much more mellow now than I used to be. I’m sure it makes life much more pleasant for everyone.
I am planning on finishing my cards tomorrow. Most will be hand delivered, but I have a few that need to be posted off pronto.
Virtual (((hugs))) and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them. Take care of yourselves.
🙋♀️ Miele failte to the newbies. Come back often.

Debbie I am so sorry to hear about the long surgery and recovery journey ahead of you. I hope you will start immediately to stock up on needed items for your home so you have what you need while you can't drive and a huge supply of reading material to entertain you

I think age is involved in the change in us, but more as time for experience. These last few years have taught me that something that I thought would make me drop dead from embarrassment on the spot did not actually kill me. Pooping in the car with my husband driving wasn't fun, but I'm not actually dead. There were a few of those...
I think every time we make something, publish something, paint something or show something, it gets easier. Even if you thought it was awful, or just not good enough, or even if you think it's wonderful, but don't know what others will think, it gets easier.
I put my first book up on Amazon and told my best friend that it was up for review. She gave it three stars because there were typos. I took it right back down and didn't publish it again for nearly five years. I was heartbroken. But I didn't die. Took me a while to make sure I wasn't going to, but I didn't. We talked about it just recently. Of course since then, I've put that one up as well as a couple more. None of them gave me that kind of angst, because I didn't die from the first one. I did go back and get all the typos, though. Hopefully.
So I got my very fragile ego trampled, and then got over myself.

Nyquil is great for most people but I (and my mom) are NOT most people. We have the opposite reaction- it is like have 6 cups of coffee and trying to sleep.
Found out that Benadryl does the same thing to me. Found out the hard way that the "pm" in TylanolPM is Benadryl- was up for hours after taking that.3 -
