I got enough exercise for a month yesterday. Use snow blower for the third time yesterday. (We got a total of 15 inches of snow. Thought of you Beth I don't know where you could put all your snow.) Then cleaned out the bottom of the driveway once snow plows came though. Scrapped as much the ice off driveway that I could. Re shoveled paths in the back yard for DrewB to have a place to walk. Then I went to son's house shoveled sidewalk, deck, and the sidewalk to the garage and cleared a spot for the trash can in his small driveway. Came home and finished clearing bottom of driveway. DH made soup but I took myself out to dinner. I did not want to talk to anyone.
Fortunately up at the school they cleared a big space for the kids to play outside. Yesterday there was no school so DrewB and I took advantage of it.6 -
Day 6/Goal Achieved Last Year ... I maintained an IF lifestyle where I fasted at least 20 hours each day and had a window of opportunity to eat for 4 hours each day resulting in my weighing less at the end of the year than I did at the beginning of the year.
Lisa ... glad Bella is home. In terms of hard goal numbers, when I publicly announce goals of any kind, I immediately proceed to sabotage myself. So I've learned to be very vague and somewhat quiet and hope that my inner demon doesn't hear me...
Exercise ... I have not been purposely exercising for quite some time now and that really needs to change as I want to grow up and be like Heather!
My days right now consist of paring down not only my things, but all the inherited things in my basement. It's a huge undertaking, but I'm making progress. I'm also with my Mom at least every other day. Both my husband and I notice a change in her demeanor when we are consistent with our visits. It's understandable. We removed her from everything she knew while she was still recovering from her falls and planted her in a new place where she knows no one. I promised to bring the game "Scrabble" tomorrow when I visit. She always hounded me as a child to play with her. She was thrilled with the idea.

Good morning ladies!
Today is an excellent day to make good choices for food and exercise, and to be kind to yourself! Remember, slow and steady!
I weigh .7 pounds less this week. Yay! Although that's really within the margin of error.

Well I went for a walk at a park I usually don't go to. I thought it would be empty and maybe not so safe. I was wrong! There were mothers there with young children exercising. They were fun to take a glimpse at. I walked about a mile. Gorgeous weather. Crisp, clear. My legs are shaky and have never been this way in my life. I would have walked more except for time.
I then picked up the groceries and they were out of the steaks I was planning to cook for my son tomorrow night. I only have the caregiver until 1pm. I can't just go somewhere else. I either have to have another store deliver or I have to pay the caregiver to stay later. This has been going on 3 years. Before that he was disabled, but I was free to come and ago.
I haven't given him his morning pills yet. This is bad because several have to do with controlling secretions and he could choke. However he is at the computer, in a good mood and quite comfortable. So I guess I got away with it ....this time!
Sorry to sound so gripey! Maybe I will ask my son to bring the steaks! Thank you all for "listening"! I appreciate it!

One day, the mister and I were hiking up this trail near our house and the top of it is very, very steep. I was probably in my mid 30s at the time. It is not an easy walk. I saw a couple, probably in their 70s, also hiking up that hill. Well, it's more of a walk at that point. They made it to the top. They were slow, but I know many much younger people who could not do that hike. I said, "I want to stay fit enough to do that."
I don't know if I told you all that story about having to literally kick for my life in the Galapagos. But, had I not been as strong, I probably wouldn't have made it. I had never been so exhausted in my life and hope to never be again. I haven't been able to work out my legs as much for the past year or so and I'm itching to get back to that.
Tip from Denise Austin--All it takes is a couple of soup cans to use as resistance.
Debbie-Oh my! That photo with the tree through the middle of the shed! Wow.
Lisa-Glad Bella is back. I know how that is. Years ago, my cat was lost for a few days and I was a mess.
Heather-You are an inspiration. I also want to be like you when I grow up.
Well, time to run. Then treat myself to a walk around the zoo. Our zoo is very hilly, so it's great exercise.

Looking forward to weighing this Sunday. Weighing once a week is still a big deal for me, as before that I weighed every single morning, and sometimes at night. I kind of ruled my brain a bit. I have only been weighing once a week since August. In September I was with my sister so that month was a hard month.๐ฅ
Video chatted with my sister, her new kitten she found in her field looking intently at the bird feeders, running around being chased by Tucker her bernese mountain dog. What a cute pair they make. Her grandkids named the kitten Hazel Honey. Sweet. She is attending a local group of 18 (no more, or less) women, started way back in the 1930's. They do lots of charity work, volunteering and social get togethers (when its not farming season). She has been hearing a lot of stories of her passed husband when he was a boy, because my sister is living at and renovating his childhood home. Its like reading his life story but in reverse. I think its a comfort, but also a struggle. She is managing, getting back into painting. Funny, she showed me a painting, she did of a bird a friend lost. Its a glorious watercolor, but I questioned her, saying that his claw feet needed to be more pronounced. She typed back, "oh dang I forgot his feet"!
Today is my pasta leftovers from yesterday. Maybe a complicated salad before. My normal little bowl of treats to make me happy.
Enjoy the day ladies!

I recall reading somewhere that if you're having problems staying on track with something, just make one good decision, and then another. Pretty soon you've had a good day of eating, making good decisions and being kind to yourself. Last night I was not starving, but I wasn't full either. We had just gone shopping so all my newly bought food items were mentally introducing themselves to me! I could have started my friendship with the cheesy baked Cheetos (healthy Cheetos version) but I had done so good all day. Being hungry isn't an emergency. I had to tell myself, "no you do not need that now".

Michele--The newstep is like a bike only you move arms and legs. It's to be a full body workout.
Tracey--I like FB to keep up with our kids that live out of state and some family that we do not see very often. But lately the drama with different members and things got a bit much. I do miss it and plan to go back when this month is over, just limit my time better.
Welcome LeighAnn--This is a great place for freindship and support. Come often and let us get to know you and you us. This group is a life saver for me.
Been an interesting couple days at work. What they say about a full moon is really true this week and the moon is not full until tonight.
Proud of myself as last evening went to Oliver Garden with my niece and family. I brought most my meal back home and will have it a couple times over the weekend. Had a nice catch up visit.
Off the weekend and plan to clean out my top closet in the hallway. DH will help as I can not reach it.
Have a good weekend and One Day at a Time.

Tracey- WOW- I have the same picture, printed and taped to the door of my desk. Thanks for the reminder. I need to start reading it daily again.
Need to print a new copy, one of the cats have scratched the side of it but not on the writing. Need to laminate it. I don't see me not needing it for a very long time.

Terri Thanks! I thought it was something like welcome!
DebbieโWow thatโs a lot of damage! Since Iโve been going to therapy, I have been speaking up and noticed he stops whatever he was saying when I point out that he is being an a&&.
Katla---I forget, what state are you in now?
Tracey, Love the blue and red Santaโs.
Heather---- You make me tired!! You are awesome to do all you do at your age!
Terri and LannetteโI started using my 2 lb weights to do arm exercises again. I also started doing Yoga for Weight loss -this is an app I purchased with 10 min yoga routines. Other than this new start, the only exercise was walking. Iโm 66 for those that are interested.
Kylia--- Rooting for you to stop vaping!
LeighAnn777 ---- Welcome to the group!
Margaret--- I do not miss my snow blower at all! More power too you! Great exercise though!
Beth---Great accomplishment being IF and losing weight!
Tracey--- I use Facebook mostly to keep track of family and friends who live around the country. If drama stars, I block them.
Well, finally caught up! Therapy went well yesterday but I did something stupid on my way into the office. I parked my car, put the keys on the passenger seat (I thought), grabbed my water bottle ad purse, then hit the lock on the car door. I immediately realized I didnโt have my keys. We only have one key for the car so calling DH to the rescue was a non-option. I did call him, he was angry, I told him that I was already angry at myself so donโt contribute. Be glad I told you at all! (Iโm so much stronger when on the phone than in person!). He stopped then told me to find a locksmith or call the cops. I found a locksmith after my session who only charged me $40, which I thought was very reasonable as my search brought back 75-150 dollars.
On top of that, my Brownie had an anxiety attack the night before and the only way to calm her down was to take her for a walk at 3am then sit in a chair with her snuggled next to me. We both fell asleep in the chair. She had kept me up since midnight. I brought her to bed with me at 4 after almost falling off the chair. Oh, well. Researched that and found more walks, I have a thunder jacket, and some hemp oil at night helps. I did all that last night, and she didnโt move all night. One was to get more steps in!

For all of you who think I am Wonderwoman! Remember that this didn't happen all at once. I used to despise 'exercise', though I loved dancing. I wanted to lose a bit of weight, so started at the gym with DH, my new husband. He is a lifelong gym goer. I was just beginning to enjoy it when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Oops! I put on masses of weight and eventually joined MFP ten and a half years ago . I slowly lost the weight and DH encouraged me to exercise. At first I thought I would burst if I did more than 200 calories a day! Slowly I extended it. I ended up at 900, which lasted until I got covid last June and I realised it was too much and I had stopped enjoying it. Itโs important to enjoy it. Now I do 600. Feels good.
I started running at age 67. It's more of a bouncy shuffle, but I love it.
Unfortunately I love my food. I used to be able to exercise it off, but recently it has been creeping up on me. I need to cut back. I am not happy with my current weight. I am fit, but overweight. This will change.
So, I am far from perfect. I love life, I love food, I love a drink. I have to relearn balance. Everything within reason.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx9 -
I have been reading off and on all day! Started at p. 14 and now up to the end...Thank Goodness!
Heather ~ Your mention of using 20 lb weights got me. I think my heaviest dumb bell is probably 5 lbs. Can't imagine 20. And yes, you are to be admired for all you are doing to stay fit.
Debbie ~ Your friend's house sure did suffer a lot of damage and I hope they have insurance to help! I liked the prayer you posted. My DH and I went through terrible times ~ He left at least 3 times (once for 6 mos) and stayed at his parents which sounds embarrassing. But, I think God meant for us to stay together cause here we are after 53 yrs.
Rosemarie ~ My heart goes out to you for all the time and energy you are spending caring for your husband. I know that you must love him dearly to do this. Glad that your son is there for you!
Lisa ~ You putting in a bidet must have been an interesting thing to see. I could never have done that. Mechanically inclined i am not.
That's all I can remember for now after all that reading!
Welcome to all new posters and hope you keep coming back!

OMG Lisa, Harley and I are so thrilled to hear that Bella has returned!
Tracey, that hope chest is unbelievably stunning. I'd almost be afraid to use it as a table, but so wonderful that you can use it. What a gift your father had for woodworking.
Oh man, Heather... wouldn't touch anything on the "crap tier", but we love Beef Wellington, Scotch eggs, and Pork pie. Never had one, but just looked up a recipe for a Lancashire Hotpot. Aside from the lamb kidneys (eh) the rest sounds delish. Now, the mid tier... not crazy about much of that, but I'd try a bunch and Cornish pasties are great depending on who makes'em. But top and God tier, you got me sold on all of it!
shoot... did I not post yesterday? well... it was the first day back to work and I was running late, so no surprise there!

Afternoon ladies
Im home and in jammies
,I got the blessed car together for Miles scrapping some skin off my finger in the process..but at least thats done..
I woke up sneezing again..
Im guessing its allergies as ive been moving and hauling stuff around.
So Kyles mother is a total wack job . She has decided to ruin poor Miles birthday party and can't play nice with her sister and nieces ,because its all about her and what she wants..
She works for the state mental hospital as a hair dresser.. honestly she would be a candidate for a patient
,you know me I dont usually speak of people like that.but she has made my daughters and her sons life a living hell.
Here is the almost Birthday boy in his birthday suit lol10 -
Heather - Holy Beef Wellington, woman, that's approximately 20,000 calories in one place! There were eight all told that I ate while I was there for six years, like the first time, when the British civilian ladies made Yorkshire Pudding and a baron of beef every week, I still remember the taste of the Yorkshire Pud...
Allie - Such a sweetie, your Miles. Sorry Tracy's mom-in-law is such a noodge. I had one like that, ended up not speaking to her for seven years. Pretty sure she didn't notice.
Not sure who it was that asked me if I was going to write to the CEO of Lowes, but I did exactly that today. Just got a call from an executive customer service rep at their HQ in North Carolina saying he had asked her to call me direct, and she's going to try to get the range here tomorrow. While I am not holding my breath, I did appreciate the callback. She is also going to "follow up with the online team," to make sure they're not making promises they can't keep. Again - not holding my breath. Nonetheless, got a same-day response, they're doing well so far.
Here's what I wrote to the prez, if you're interested:Hello, Mr. Ellison,
I don't know if this email will reach you directly or even indirectly, but have also addressed it to your customer service email as well.
Due to the fact that the oven's electronics have gone out on the current range we own (which we bought from Lowes four years ago), I was shopping online for a new range at your Van Buren, Arkansas, store this week. I finally settled on the one I wanted, with a reasonable price.
Throughout my entire shopping experience, the website was telling me on every page "Delivery tomorrow, January 5!" I was happy with that, because I'm a baker, and I have family coming in this weekend, and had some plans in the works to bake things for them.
And then, after I hit what I thought was the final selection, the site asked me whether I wanted it delivered January 14, 21, or 28. I backed out of the whole thing and went through it again, thinking I had made a mistake. Led to the exact same ending. Knowing that I would have to select something to get an order number, I selected the 14th.
I then called your customer care line, and eventually got someone on the line, who was lovely and polite, and told me that the earliest date I could get it delivered is January 14.
To me, that smacks of false advertising at best. I understand the issues with supply and demand in this country right now, and how fouled up that infrastructure is... but it does not give your company license to lie to me in order to get me to buy your products!
I went over to Home Depot, and their site showed up front that earliest delivery from them would be January 17. While I didn't end up buying from them, they will be the first ones I check next time I'm in the market, instead of Lowes.
What's interesting about that is, had your site actually posted the truthful delivery date, you would have still beaten your competitor's date. Lying about the date wasn't even necessary to win the business.

I really enjoyed writing that. Corey just called on his way home, and I told him about it. His comment was, "That communication degree really helps, doesn't it!"
Snuggled in my chair, watching the Madoff documentary, and the kids are going to swing down tonight, stay the night, and then go back (with Bella, of course) so they can get her husband's old apartment cleared by Sunday. Total 14 hours of driving, and really glad it's not me!

Tracey โ can you use those socks for the antique look with glazes? How do you do it? Canโt wait for our ceramic studio to open back up. Wish it was going to be closer, tho!
Kylia โ you can do this!
Regarding exercise: Iโve found that as I get older, Iโm just not as fast. What I mean is that it takes longer like to walk or even go up and down the stairs. I still do it, it just takes a bit longer.
LeighAnn โ welcome!
Beth โ I canโt make an announcement of what I intend to do otherwise, like you, I sabotage myself. I just try to keep my goals to myself and applaud when Iโve achieved them. When I do, thatโs when I share it with others
Vicki โ then what is the difference between the newstep and the elliptical? From your description of the newstep, they sound very similar
Rosemarie โ yea for Kroger and you
RVRita โ my car wonโt let me lock the doors with the key in it. It also sounds a warning when the key fob is too far away from the car.
Allie โ poor Miles! Fortunately, he probably wonโt remember it.

Well not a great day food wise. I ought to go down and walk in the basement but my dad is down there doing a puzzle. I know, excuses and more excuses!
I have been a little short of breath lately. Quite mysterious. I need more aerobic exercise. I was looking at a compact rowing machine, since my mini elliptical never seems to get far. Well maybe I will win the lottery and buy a big house to put it in! Or maybe I will just go up and down the stairs here.
