Don't know where she came in the race, but it doesn't matter.
While she was doing that, I was experimenting with my brother's painting. I thought I would make just a rough sketch but somehow I just kept going and I finished it in one session! Can't believe I captured his figure and face so well! It's a miracle!
His wife is looking through the door.
Phew!
Now to let it dry and frame it.

Heather ~ Your drawing/painting for your brother is really good.
Allie ~ So glad you heard from your daughter. The photos of the two prom growers are lovely. They even look alike! Carmine looks really happy and so does the young man.
Katla ~ Sorry to hear the house sale didn't work out but know there will be others who want to buy it. Here in the Atlanta suburbs, houses sell like hot cakes.
Rebecca ~ Enjoy your time with Athena. Thanks for all the photos.
Very quiet around here for Mother's Day. My husband bought me a lovely bouquet of flowers, but sadly, they are already wilting.

Of course the weather goes down to mid to low 70’s for the next week, now that my air conditioner is fixed! This is a rough month for me as I remember things that happened to me in past May. It always has. I’ll get over it, meanwhile my funk is still there. Start new depression meds today. Let’s hope it helps.

Heather - it’s great you are feeling better today. I’m glad you were able to enjoy your dance show.
What a great talent you have.
Allie -The pictures are lovely what a smile!
Please go see a doctor. We worry.
I’m so happy to read Tracy reached out to you.
Machka - I have been unsubscribing from emails as well. It’s too much to keep up with.
Pip - I sure hope with advancements in medicine they are able to do something for Kirby.
Debbie - my DH says the same thing. He’s done it for years now and it still angers me.
Carla - I wish my SIL and her family realized how they take advantage of my in laws. They still expect it from my MIL too.
Tina - our transit system is the same. They want people using it but don’t make it convenient.
Ginny - a granddaughter is wonderful news! A friend of mine here was told yesterday to expect grandchild #6 on Dec 1st.
I am praying I’ll be able to say the same soon.
Barbara- enjoy the line dancing. I bet they’ll love it.
Annie - I hope your week gets better.
Katla - sorry your sale fell through.
I hope a listing sells it fast for you.
Karen - I hope you have a fun day. I also hope your sons remember to at least call you.
Rita - isn’t that always the way. Quebec is a beautiful province.
I have something going on with my shoulder since yesterday. I can barely lift my arm. I have been doing the heat-cold and have used the tens machine. I don’t know if anything is helping or not.
I have a massage appointment on Tuesday I am trying to decide to wait and see what she can do or to go to a walk in.
I went and bought some plants yesterday, and my shoulder felt like I had slept on it wrong before planting them. Maybe I pushed it too much.
Today I am meeting our youngest daughter to walk around a garden centre for Mother’s Day.
I want to buy one hanging planter, and I need plants and soil for one big pot for on the deck.
I’m hoping to do one that naturally repels mosquitoes.
I had a text wishing me a Happy Mother’s Day from my supervisor. She was off when I sent my letter in, but I’m sure she is aware.
My heart started racing when I saw her name, and truthfully it’s not so much her I have an issue with.

Im honestly feeling much better still a twinge but know that will go away its right where ive had a flare before not in flank more lower left side front.. but so much better than yesterday..
Im still laying low,my son texted Happy Mother's day and he will stop after work to pick up the garbage for me.6 -
Kim-Thank you for the sloppy Sam recipe! I’ll give it a try. I've never made them with lentils before.
Allie-Carmine looks so happy. It’s nice to see. I hope you’re feeling better.
Heather-Johnny’s a keeper for sure. Yay for Edie. What an athlete she’s becoming.
Machka-All that gardening has made you stronger!
Annie-Hugs. I am having a somber day too.
Rori-Have a great trip!
Rebecca-great photos. I can’t believe Athena is 4 already.
Tofu tacos. They take some planning, but oh so tasty.I usually try to make it as close to the recipe as possible the first time. I didn’t have a jalapeño and I eyeball a lot, but I think it’s mostly to the recipe and they were great! I did marinate the tofu overnight as well. I also used Greek yogurt instead of the crema. https://tasty.co/recipe/grilled-tofu-tacos
I'm having a rough day. Date night was fine, but at the concert--a very short 60 minute one--people (adults) just were not able to sit still and sit quietly for a measly hour! I was so disappointed. The people in front of us kept getting up and down and the ladies behind us would not stop talking. Sadly, this happens rather often here and I've just sort of had enough for the time being.
Tina in CA5 -
Happy Mother's Day all. I don't get too wrapped up with the Hallmark holidays. YS has birthday on May 7-we get together somewhere between the two and do lunch and swap basic gifts. OS, DIL an dKids face timed yesterday. They emailed me a Kohl's gift certificate. I got call yesterday because they were picking her mother up for lunch yesterday then they were going to hotel where DIL could get massage for her present and they will do brunch there today. Niece texted me. Will maybe get text from Step son and DIL but I mainly care him and three boys are doing something for DIL!
Prom-never went to one and somehow think I have had a fulfilling life!
Annie-good to hear from you. Most of us seem to drop off of a few days every now but when we don't hear from the daily folks it is noticeable! I frequently read and don't comment.
Allie-glad Tracy reached out. Do contact doctor tomorrow.
Tracey-hope you find healing in your time off (and a new job).
I have nearly two boxes ready for Goodwill. Going to go fill one more box and then take time to drop off. If any of you know how many clothes a person needs-please give me a number! I think my difficulty is, growing up poor, clothes were limited and we never got rid of anything! I am thinking of just trying to cut back to a number of each clothes grouping, but for now I am just asking "when did you last wear this" and "even if this fits, do you like the way it looks on you?"
Wish me luck!

Happy Mother’s Day!!!!
Made the salmon cakes for next week and the freezer, then made rice krispie bars for Vince (tried something different, seems OK), want to make brownies also for Vince. Think I’ll use a recipe from a friend’s deceased wife and give him some. Then probably go in the pool for a bit and take a walk. Need to put the second coat of black paint on my angelfish and decide what else I want to take there. Want Vince to go over what we’re going to sell of his mother’s china to be sure that he agrees with me with what the pieces are. He now seems OK with selling his mother’s china, before he was having a hard time with it.
Did Gilad’s Express Workout DVD. Just ceramics tomorrow night
Barbara – ladders are NOT my friend, either. But an extension ladder???? That’s even worse. You should see me putting the ornaments on the top of the 9 foot Christmas tree. Takes me SOOOO long to go up the ladder. But I did it!!!!
Rori – can’t wait to hear all about your trip
Lowe’s Hardware told me that I needed to put this stuff “Turf Builder” on the grass. So I did. It seems it burned the grass in some spots. It seems it’s a weed and feed, or some sort of fertilizer. Who knew? Not me. It didn’t say “weed and feed” or “fertilizer” so I didn’t think it was either of these. What did I think it was? I have no idea, to me it was just something that Lowe’s told me I needed to put on my grass. Will the grass grow back or did I kill it permanently? Goes to show you how much I know about landscaping. Well...I look at it as I’m learning (the hard way)
Made rice krispie bars for Vince and then brownies. While they were baking put the second coat of the black paint on my ceramics. Now to go out to the pool
Anne DE – you’re in good company re: your daughter. I haven’t seen my son in about 10 years. It’s been about 7 since the last time I even talked to him. I’ve gotten to where I don’t expect Denise to even call me. If she does – wonderful. If I have low expectations, then I won’t be disappointed. I remember being really hurt when she called Vince to ask him about a $38 sweatshirt for Pete’s mother’s birthday. And I don’t even get a d*** card! She used to post on Facebook all the time about how she loves his mother and she made up this video for his mother for her birthday one year, and I don’t even get a Mother’s Day card! So I don’t have any expectation.
Lisa – there’s no way I would want to go back to high school, either. Now grade school – yes. But not high school
Miracles DO happen. Vince went to church with me this morning. Even tho we had to get there early since I was lectoring.
Heather – yea Bea!
Allie – so happy for you about Tracey. Warms the heart
Ginny – I need to make a donation to the Salvation Army soon. So many of my clothes don’t fit the way they used to. I haven’t gained any weight, but gravity is doing its thing. Things are going southward. It’s just frustrating because I know that I haven’t gained any weight. I usually weigh myself every day.
Off to the pool

I let my hair grow out and I wanted to see how gray I would get. I was hoping for a white head, not enough gray so I got it colored to my natural color, I don’t know how that red *kitten* came out, I didn’t do it, it’s gone now

Michele - it's Edie. Can't see Bea doing all that.!
It takes a lot of courage and determination to go in for these competitions. Bea is far too rational! Edie is driven.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx3 -
Love seeing the grands and smiles and sunshine and art, you are all inspiring and lovely.
Tracey, your advice to Allie right back at you - get to urgent care if you're still hurting, girl... take care of yourself.
Pip - Did exactly the same thing! My sister two years younger has a head full of beautiful white hair, but only about a quarter of mine has gone gray, so I went back to my dark blonde that I've been for decades. She sent me this pic of her hair...
If mine looked like that, I'd keep it that way, too.
I finally was able to get my clover seeds sown out in the front yard. I used the little walk-behind rotary spreader, while Corey hovered nearby. I decided he was worried about me, bless him, and not just worried about me doing it wrong--although both could be true, I suppose. I haven't been working outside much, and I will say that it took me nearly an hour to stop perspiring afterward, but I'm horribly out of shape. No excuses...
Got a call from our son for Mother's Day. He and his fiancée are moving to Las Cruces, NM, between now and the 1st of June. They sounded happy - they plan to visit us in August, but still not holding my breath. Both wonderful, lovely human beings, but follow-through is not their strong suit. I will love them either way.
And... Corey just brought home more of the plants he's been wanting to pick up, cucumbers, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, and four strawberry plants for me for the big pot we keep on the back patio. So he spent $100 to make himself what will end up being ten to 20 jars of salsa and pickles. I don't argue. It's his happy place, out in the garden. At the moment, he's in the kitchen putting a cake together. He wants icing, and had to come up with a reason to make icing.
I've been revisiting this all day... time to hit the button...
Love y'all!

15. Do something to contribute to your local community. Today’s demo at the elder care facilitiy? Start district board meeting minutes tomorrow?
Ugh. Joe woke me at 2am hollering “We’re infested!!!” Yesterday’s warmth hatched hordes from hell. Not just gnats, fruitflies, flying beetles and moths, but [shudder] swarm of termites. Since pest control guy isn’t scheduled to come til Tuesday afternoon, Joe counterattacked with broom and blower and hose, triumphing over most of them. [ugh again] we both had to deal with stragglers all morning. I was loving the 80 degree temps till they woke up the bugs. Joe not so much, his max level is about 72. .Weather returns to our normal mid-50s to mid-60s tomorrow.
Heather hooray for Johnny and hip hip hooray for Edie. Just attempting a triathlon is a triumph of bravery, completing it is a job well done. Bravissima for your brother’s birthday present! Sorry about your thumb/wrist/ribs. Can imagine how hard it would be for someone as active as you to rest much, but please. Your body has had quite a shock. Be kind to it.
Allie glad you’re feeling better, but please report that pain to your nephrologist and get a recommendation.
Lisa Daughter, son, grands, just more reasons to bless that Corey. Neither would I return to the prom era, not for nuthin’! ;} “…a reason to make icing…” Hahaha! But now that you’ve said it, I find myself wanting to thaw out the orange buttercream frosting I’ve stashed in the freezer. . . No cake here but there's always ginger snaps...
Annie ((hugs)). What Lisa said.
Katla what a disappointment! Praying it means a better resolution is in the offing.
Karen “It isn’t like I was never thoughtless about my own dear mom at times.” Sadly, ditto.
Rebecca those pics with Athena and your Chief cracked me up! Happy memories for sure.
Rita glad your a/c is fixed and the temps moderating. Can you plan/do something especially nice for yourself to help you get through this month?
Tina thanks for the tofu taco link. Can I leave half (or more of) the tofu in the freezer for another time? 8 tacos is too many for me!
Ginny congrats on the 3 boxes!
Michele, dang that gravity! It’s taken its toll here tool
Pip wowza!
Margaret I can almost smell those lilacs from here. Lovely vase.
Barbie, would you share your mother’s turkey burger recipe and some of her jokes?
Mothers’ day celebration, in addition to the books and magazines Joe brought me last week, he surprised me with a decorative cup holding a flowering plant and a something that looks like a pygmy multicolored coleus. Lovely. GodDaughter sent a cheerful and loving greeting via Messenger. Youngest nephew sent a truly touching text “Happy Mothers Day Barbara. Like it or not, when you and Joe took (the boys) in you earned that title. You guys had more of a positive impact on us than you’ll ever know…” I cried, but didn’t share with Joe. He’s still bruised from that almost-twenty-years-ago experience and wants nothing to do with the nephews. I don’t press.
Whew, didn’t mean to go into all that, but guess I had to share with somebody and who better that with you wise compassionate women?

Tina - I’m sorry your concert was interrupted with rude people.
Ginny - when I am trying to decide what to keep and what not to, I leave a bag at the bottom of my closet. After a few months of passing something by I drop it in. It has made so many choices easy and I’ve never dug in to get something. That bad sits there usually about 6 months before I take it to the thrift store.
Michele - I’m sorry Denise treats you that way.
Pip - I love your hair.
Lisa - I am going tomorrow to the walk in clinic. My self assessment on the Harvard website, says frozen shoulder. I am praying that is not the issue.
Barbara- how beautiful for the nephew to send you a message. I don’t know how you could handle the bugs!
My daughter and I went to the Garden Centre today. She bought this beautiful basket for me. I bought some more to put in a pot. I hope I’m able to tomorrow.

Off to the fracture clinic at the hospital this morning. DH would never have thought to offer to drive me, (hyper independence, projected onto others) but I just came straight out and asked him. It's an irritatingly slow bus journey, especially with the diversion at the moment, and I am happy to get the bus back. Just didn't want to get agitated about being late getting there. It's a stretch for him, but he's doing it with decent grace.
I hope they will put a fibreglass cast on and I will ask them about the timing for the cruise.
Cleaner this afternoon.
When I roasted the duck legs yesterday, I popped in some butternut squash, so I will use that for a squash, pea and feta frittata for dinner. Need to buy feta. I thought I had some, but no.
I will take a snack to the hospital, to tide me over. I don't do well if I'm hungry!
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx6 -
Tracey-maybe some of the shoulder issue/pain is from stress? We can build it up in our bodies and it does things to us. Some mediation couldn't hurt. I hope to be moved out in the next 6 moths or so! However, it is pretty easy for me to figure out what I haven't worn for 6 months! Love the pansies in shades of purple.
Katla-your house will sell. Disappointing when you think you have something taken care of and it isn't-but it typically works out for the best.
Heather-GD and artwork both exceptional!
Barbara AHMOD-We can be surprised the difference we can make in lives.
Pip-fountain is a nice accent.
Got 3 boxes dropped off. I did stop and spend part of my Mother's Day gift card. I cleaned out some old pajamas. My favorite summer nightgown has a hole in it (time to go!). I also did not have decent summer weight pajamas. I usually sleep in night gowns, but in hotels I prefer pjs (I guess in case I have to vacant room in middle of night). I also got a light weight robe/house coat for next trip to Phoenix that is light weight yet the material isn't see through (for trips to shower). However, I got rid of old robe and four old night gowns and 5 (yes 5) old pjs (mainly winter weight), so I have still reduced.
Work today. This afternoon we are going out as group (exec team) for Great American Clean Up). We are going out for an hour around the neighborhood where our offices are. We may get an early dinner together.
Off to my morning routine.
Take care all,
